As we mark another Holocaust Memorial Day, held each year on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the ongoing nightmare experienced by the Jewish people – with anti-Semitism once again spreading like cancer – should drive us to our knees.

And I’m glad to say that our African brethren, at least, who have brought much-needed new life and vigour to the British church, are doing just that by calling a special day of prayer focused on our fractured relationship with Israel.

Wale Babatunde of the World Harvest Christian Centre in south London is particularly concerned by Britain’s failure to follow President Trump’s lead in recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

This follows a series of betrayals over the years which have undone much of the goodwill fostered by the government’s pledge, through the Balfour Declaration 100 years ago, to do all in its power to re-settle the Jewish people in their ancient land.

Fortunately, African Christians know how to pray, so we are fully expecting God to shake up our complacency over Israel – both in Parliament and in the Church.

My own MP, Dame Rosie Winterton (Labour, Doncaster Central), has already chaired a debate on Holocaust Memorial Day in the House. In a report to her constituents, she said this year’s theme, The Power of Words, was a reminder that the Holocaust did not start with the gas chambers, but with hate-filled words, adding that words can also be a force for good through which we can demonstrate that we will not stay silent when such vilification and de-humanisation occur.

In South Africa, meanwhile, farmer/evangelist Angus Buchan has called another It’s Time day of prayer for his country – this time in Cape Town where he recently addressed Parliament as part of a prayer rally.

Last year, 1.7 million Christians travelled to a farmer’s field near the central city of Bloemfontein to pray for a nation steeped in corruption and lawlessness, and Angus is hoping for a similar response on March 24 this year

We should be doing it here too. Many of us have forgotten, or perhaps never knew, that it was prevailing prayer – not Spitfires and Hurricanes – that won the Battle of Britain. Rees Howells and his Bible College students in Wales were on their knees daily throughout the war. In fact, according to Norman Grubb, in _Rees Howells – Intercessor _(Lutterworth Press), “the whole college was in prayer every evening from 7pm to midnight, with only a brief interval for supper. They never missed a day. This was in addition to an hour’s prayer meeting every morning, and very often at midday. There were many special periods when every day was given up wholly to prayer and fasting.” Howells told his students: “Don’t allow those young men at the Front to do more than you do here.” Over the Dunkirk period, Howells spent four days alone with God “to battle through and, as others have testified, the crushing burden of those days broke his body. He literally laid down his life.”

It’s time we did it again. Both Britain and Israel face an enemy just as terrifying as the Nazis, only subtler. This is the belief that we are no longer answerable to a heavenly authority, and that man is his own god – a secular/humanist view that has brought the beginnings of totalitarianism (that brooks no dissent) to a society once proud of its freedom. It was for this that my father’s generation risked their lives in World War II.

But as journalist Melanie Phillips has said on a tour of America, Israel is absolutely central to the recovery of Western values, which are based on the Hebrew Bible. “We’re in this together,” she told the Minnesota-based Olive Tree Ministries radio programme.

Here is the stark reality of what is facing the Jewish people today: Iran is fast developing nuclear weapons with which to “wipe out” Israel (in the words of the Ayatollahs and Iranian presidents) and, ominously in the eyes of many, the Russian Bear has now established a foothold in the region. The current spat between Shiite Iran and Sunni Saudi Arabia further adds to the tension and Gaza-based Hamas is repeatedly firing rockets into the Jewish state while Lebanon-based Hezbollah continues to pose a serious threat on its northern border. Brutal Islamic State are also stalking the area while the Palestinian Authority incites its people to murder and mayhem, and some Westerners are engaged in a boycott of Israeli goods on the pretext that they are oppressive occupiers of land not their own. But the truth is that, in most cases, Jews are being attacked simply because they are Jews, not for political or economic reasons.

Tragically, however, the South African government is fanning the flames of anti-Semitism with their ruling party, the African National Congress, having last month announced its intention to loosen diplomatic ties with Israel, citing alleged apartheid policies against the Palestinians along with America’s acknowledgement of Jerusalem as the nation’s capital.

Thankfully, the Zulu King is urging them to reconsider. Goodwill Zwelithini, monarch of South Africa’s largest ethnic group, praised the Jewish state for their help in curbing the devastation of drought through their cutting-edge water technology along with the spread of HIV/AIDS through Jewish-sponsored medical circumcision.

But in both Britain and South Africa, we have a God in heaven waiting to hear our cry for mercy. Jesus said we could move mountains with our faith. (Matthew 17.20 & 21.21, Mark 11.23)

Let’s pray for the mountain of paralyzing unbelief and complacency to be removed from our nations, in Jesus’ name!

Every Israeli slight against Christians, whether real or perceived, becomes the topic of international headlines.

Take for instance the occasions of anti-Christian graffiti scrawled on churches in Jerusalem by a handful of radical Jewish youth. As upsetting as those incidents were, no real harm was done, and both the authorities and local Jewish community were quick to stand with the wronged churches.

And yet, Israel was falsely lambasted in the mainstream media as a place unwelcoming to and even hostile toward Christians.

So, it's more than a little curious that a far more severe trial being faced by Christian nuns in nearby Bethlehem is being all but ignored.

Middle East Concern, one of the few organizations willing to expose the plight of Christians living under the Palestinian Authority, reports that portions of the St. Mary's Coptic Convent in Bethlehem have been unlawfully taken over by a local Muslim family, and the nuns living there exposed to routine physical abuse.

Sisters Maria and Esther have filed official complaints against the Mahatna family, but Palestinian Authority courts have failed to take any real action.

The convent remains partially occupied, despite the fact that the nuns filed their first complaint back in April of 2017, when a female member of the Muslim family, Rania Mahatna, assaulted Sister Maria and caused damage to the property.

It was when the nuns were on their way to the police station to file that initial complaint that a second major incident occurred. Rania's brother, Rami, along with a gang of friends, stopped the nuns' car and attacked it with iron bars.

A police officer who witnessed this attack reportedly later changed his testimony when questioned in court.

The nuns and their lawyer believe the Mahatna family has connections within the Palestinian Authority that it is using to obstruct justice in this matter.

This is not an isolated case. But, because Israel and the Jews aren't involved, it receives little, if any attention. Highlighting it simply wouldn't fit with the narrative that Israel is behind all the woes of the local Christian population.

James Goll: What Are the Next-Generation Prophets Saying?

In every generation, God raises up dread champions who have a "Voice that Can Be Heard"—these messengers carry a clear sound, marked by integrity and the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Revelation, favor and authentic authority rests up on their lives and words.

I remember clearly when ministering on Dec. 12, 2015, at Life Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, that the Holy Spirit apprehended me and stated, "This is not your season to birth, it is your season to father." As I continued to worship He continued to speak. "You must identify, empower and release other leaders into spheres of your ministry." I knew I had just heard the Holy Spirit give my next marching orders, and instantly, I knew some of the action steps to take.

One of our clear goals must include the joining of the generations. This is when the wisdom of the older generation is joined with the resources of the middle generation, which is then coupled with the zeal of the younger generation. In other words—three generations in one generation working together. Words and phrases such as "lineage," "legacy," "heritage," "divine inheritance" and even "going for the double" are not just the latest spiritual buzzwords. They are an authentic burden from the Lord to see progressive momentum take place.

We are given a beautiful model of this in Exodus 17, when Moses stood on the hill with his hands held up by Aaron and Hur. As Moses' hands were held high, the next generation, including Joshua and Caleb, was successfully warring in the field!

With this view in mind, I have asked three prophetic leaders of the next generation to briefly describe what the Holy Spirit is sharing with them. I consider each of these anointed leaders as my sons in the faith. Each one carries a very distinct calling to equip the body of Christ to be released into different spheres of society. Let's turn our attention to hear "What Are the NextGeneration Prophets Saying?"

Matt Sorger: 'You Can Be a Carrier of His Glory!'

Matt Sorger travels the world with his wife, Stephanie, and challenges people of all ages and denominational backgrounds to be true disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. Matt moves strongly in the prophetic and words of knowledge with signs and wonders following. Recently I turned to Matt and asked him, "What is the Holy Spirit saying today? What message are you carrying?"

Matt immediately responded with a challenge, "Is your shadow dangerous? Are you a carrier of God's manifested presence? Are you hungry for more of God, or have you grown passive and lukewarm?" Though I have known him for years, at that moment, I felt like I was sitting with a true modern-day prophet as his words pierced me. "The Holy Spirit is looking for those who will change the spiritual atmosphere around them. They have become so ruined by the glory of the Lord that they are willing pay whatever price is necessary to see long lasting change come."

Matt went on to cite multiple examples of healings and miracles happening in the nations, telling stories of God's heart for reconciliation being released. Matt closed out our short interview with a powerful declaration, "You can be a carrier of the glory of God!"

Undoubtedly, these two carry contagious faith and believe that Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever. As next-generation prophetic leaders, the Springers carry a strong conviction that "His presence is a missing key to the great harvest."

The Power of Joining of the Generations

Psalm 110:3 depicts an amazing time when youth will volunteer freely for the Lord's purposes. "Your people will follow you in the day of your battle; on the holy mountains at dawn of the morning, the dew of your youth belongs to you."  The prophet Joel also describes an unprecedented global activity of the Holy Spirit. "And it will be that, afterwards, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions" (Joel 2:28).

I am seeing with my own eyes that there is power in the joining of the generations. These three couples are wonderful examples of the reality that fruit comes forth from relationally building together.

We really are better together. With strong conviction and delight, I now join in with the shout, "My generation's ceiling really is the next generation's floor!"

The Place of Warfare: Where You Find Your Psalm 2 Inheritance

"Your greatest places of warfare will become your greatest places of inheritance!"

This is the phrase the Holy Spirit spoke to me in the fall of 2014 while I was meditating on Psalm 2:7-8. In Psalm 2, we join David in witnessing a day when nations will rage, kings will plot and a generation will declare open war on God, His Word and His plan. David calls it vain. The Father laughs and confidently declares that no devil, nation or conspiracy of nations will be able to overthrow His eternal plan to give all nations to His Son from His Mount Zion. Then we are drawn far from the chaos, confusion and craziness of the day into the place of intimate intercession between the Father and the Son. The Father declares His affection over His Son and in essence says, "You see those nations raging out there? Ask Me for them, and I'll make them Your inheritance."

Right when I read this phrase and connected these dots, the Holy Spirit made it so clear that in the same place the enemy released the greatest assault (namely, Jesus' eternal destiny of ruling from Mount Zion) will come the deepest inheritance that He will receive from the Father. "Our greatest places of warfare will become our greatest places of inheritance."

On March 16, 2013, our family experienced the greatest assault on our inheritance in the sudden death of our son, Josiah Nash Russell. We called him "Nash" after the intercessor Daniel Nash, who co-labored with Charles Finney during the Second Great Awakening. After having three beautiful daughters, my wife and I had received several prophetic promises that we would have a son. On June 26, 2012, that promise became a reality when he was born.

After nine and a half months of experiencing unprecedented happiness over our son of promise and three stunning daughters, and doing life and ministry with my amazing wife and best friend, the floor fell out from under us. While I was on a ministry trip in London, England, and my wife and children were in Arkansas seeing family, my wife put our son down for a nap, but he didn't wake up; he passed away in his sleep. After three hours of being unable to reach me, she finally did, and I was on the next flight home to begin the most gut-wrenching and painful season we've ever walked through.

Over these last five years, there have been times I did not know if our marriage was going to make it, or our family for that matter, but God in His kindness and faithfulness has kept us. In addition to His own faithfulness, He has given us five life rafts—five psalms of David that have helped us interpret pain and sorrow through the Word of God. One of these is Psalm 2, which strengthened me to believe for inheritance when everything around told me differently.

The enemy sought to steal, kill and destroy us, yet I clung to two things: I'm His beloved son in whom He is well pleased, and this is not the end of our story—God has an inheritance for my family and me. As I made the daily decision to come out of the chaos and confusion of what was surrounding us, lock eyes with Father and cling to His affection and dream for our lives, we were strengthened to survive another day.

Here we are five years later, still clinging to God and each other, believing that the promises that He has declared will come to pass. He has carried us on eagle's wings through an intense season. Though we aren't there yet, we choose to wake up every day and believe that "what God had promised, He was able also to perform" (Rom. 4:21). It's been a messy journey, but we have chosen to not quit, and we truly believe that if we don't quit, we win.

I believe many people can identify with some kind of loss or trial that has shaken you, your marriage or your family to the core, and it has changed you. We need more testimonies of people who are clinging to God as they walk through intense seasons, to give courage and hope to others to keep going, because if God can carry my family and me through such great pain, He can carry anyone. {eoa{
