Equipping Israeli believers with roots and wings - ONE FOR ISRAEL

Dr. Erez Soref, President of ONE FOR ISRAEL
Shalom!

The best kind of education gives roots and wings: the roots of a secure identity as God's children, and confidence in His truth. But also the wings of training, equipping students to attain more than they previously could, and arise to do all that God would call them to.

On Thursday, we started a new semester here at Israel College of the Bible, and it also happened to be on the Feast of Purim! So staff and students came in a celebratory mood, as we worshiped and studied the word of God together.

Purim is a holiday based on the book of Esther in the Bible, and it is traditional for Israelis to dress up, and have fun. So even as the staff led the prayers and time in the word, we were also in costume!
We heard a great report from the mission team back from Berlin, and looked together at First Thessalonians 5 and the return of Messiah Yeshua.

This semester the track for Russian-speaking students has become so popular that we have had to rearrange the classrooms to accommodate everyone!

We praise God for the blessing of growth and the opportunity to serve people from all kinds of backgrounds - both Israelis and students from all over the world.

Esther: The Upside Down Drama

I'm sure you don't believe in fairy-tales, but I have to tell you, the Bible is rammed full of real life rags-to-riches miracles and total turnarounds where the underdog overcomes against all odds. The Scriptures knock Disney and the Brothers Grimm out of the water - the Bible wins hands down when it comes to wonderful stories of intrigue, drama, passion and the triumph of good over evil. Perhaps the best example of all is the book of Esther. It's a fantastic story. I want to draw your attention to some aspects of the way the story is told, because I believe that the entire book is also telling us a greater story. Not a story within a story, but a story outside the story. Continue reading...

What Happened When Billy Graham Came to Israel

Even in his death (perhaps promotion would better describe the event), Reverend Billy Graham has once again spread the Gospel far and wide, as tributes flood the mainstream media.
People all over the world are now hearing about his life, along with the message that he lived and breathed: That the cross expressed God's great love for mankind, and the invitation to receive His forgiveness and spend eternity with Him. The unstoppable evangelist even managed to share the Gospel in large public events in Israel; no mean feat today, and back in the 1960s, considerably more so. Continue reading...

Liberty Univ. Offers 'Paul, Apostle of Christ' Simulcast to Churches, Study Groups
03-04-2018
CBN News Steve Warren
Actor Jim Caviezel and some of the nation's foremost biblical scholars and theologians appear in a roundtable discussion about the life and writings of the Apostle Paul. It will be available to churches and other groups through a nationwide simulcast leading up to the premiere of the new movie "Paul, Apostle of Christ."
The simulcast will be available on March 11, 18 and 25. Churches and study groups can register for the free event, which was recorded last month at Liberty University.
Simulcast viewers will get a sneak peek of the film, including Caviezel's comments on the 30-day shoot on the island of Malta. They will also watch a panel discussion on the birth of the Christian church, what life was like in ancient Rome for believers as well as Paul's conversion from the church's greatest persecutor to its greatest proponent.
Caviezel, who also serves as an executive producer of the film, portrays Luke, the physician, and evangelist, who risks his life when he ventures into the city of Rome to visit Paul, who is held captive in Emperor Nero's darkest, bleakest prison cell.
But Nero is determined to rid Rome of Christians and does not flinch from executing them in the grisliest ways possible. Before Paul's death sentence can be enacted, Luke resolves to write another book, one that details the beginnings of "The Way" and the birth of what will come to be known as the church.
Bound in chains, Paul's struggle is internal. He has survived so much—floggings, shipwreck, starvation, stoning, hunger and thirst, cold and exposure—yet as he waits for his appointment with death, he is haunted by the shadows of his past misdeeds. Alone in the dark, he wonders if he has been forgotten and if he has the strength to finish well.
The two men struggle against a determined emperor and the frailties of the human spirit in order to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ and spread their message to the world.
The movie stars Caviezel, (THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST), James Faulkner (Downton Abbey), Olivier Martinez (S.W.A.T.), Joanne Whalley (A.D. The Bible Continues) and John Lynch (THE SECRET GARDEN).
The movie is produced by Affirm Films, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
"Paul, Apostle of Christ," premieres in theaters nationwide on Friday, March 23.
