Three Pilgrimage Festivals ✡ "The Festival Of Pesach, On The Festival Of Shavuot, And On The Festival Of Sukkot" - Israel365

Three times a year—on the festival of Pesach, on the festival of Shavuot, and on the festival of Sukkot—all your males shall appear before Hashem your God in the place that He will choose. They shall not appear before Hashem empty-handed

The Three Pilgrimage Festivals

The Hebrew word shalosh means ‘three.’ The number three indicates a strong unit or bond, as it says in Ecclesiastes (4:12), “A threefold cord is not readily broken.” Perhaps for this reason, there are three times a year when every Jew is commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Beit Hamikdash (Holy Temple) in Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) and to appear before Hashem (God) in the Temple. This ensures that he will reconnect with his Creator at least three times a year, and that the bonds between them will remain strong. We are currently in the middle of celebrating the week long festival of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles), one of the three pilgrimage festivals. This is a particularly special time to feel closeness and connection to Hashem.

Sexual Immorality - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Sexual Immorality
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;  that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God;” (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, NKJV)

Nothing seems to be getting more airtime than the many exposures of sexual immorality having been done in days, and decades, gone by. Be it in the sports field, political arena, church institutions, Hollywood scene, corporate life or throughout the educational system – we certainly are being made aware of what has gone on behind closed doors. It is now being shouted from the rooftops.

That which was hidden is now being made known. Even as the Lord Jesus Himself said it would be.

He spoke truth centuries ago, “For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light.” (Mark 4:22, NASU)

With the explosive exposure of immoral behavior being widely reported, yet it is nothing new. It has been going on for a long time.

Even King Solomon, with all his God-given wisdom and understanding, wrote, “What has been is what will be, what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9, Complete Jewish Bible)

From Genesis to Revelation, the Word of God treats sin for what it is – the turning of man from the Creator to walk in his own pride, selfishness, and lusts. From Abraham’s nephew Lot and the gay men of Sodom in the beginning of the Bible (Genesis 19), to the whore of Babylon in the last book of God’s Word (Revelation 17:1), sexual immorality has been in the forefront of evil within the human race, seeking to destroy the beautiful purpose of sex for which our Father created it.

Temptation abounds as we are bombarded daily on the TV screen, movie theatres, Internet porn, and published works, attempting to get each trapped in a downward spiral of sin and degradation.

I recall when I was in 6th grade at St. Patrick's School in Cedar Falls, Iowa, over 50 years ago, when my teacher, a Catholic nun of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) order, went to convenient stores in our town persuading the owners to at least move the pornographic magazines to behind the checkout counter, so as not so easily make them available to adults, and also influence unknowing kids. Sister Robert Cecile was a courageous soul. She wanted to stop it as much as she could within her power and scope of ability. I remember that clearly as her actions stuck with me.

By the grace of God, also when I was in 6th grade, I committed then to not permit pornographic material in my life. On one occasion, I had taken a shortcut through the woods near our house, on the way to deliver the Waterloo Courier newspaper on my daily route. Along the path, I spotted a sandwich bag lying just off to the side. With curiosity, I picked it up. In it were nude photos torn from a magazine, along with some cigarettes. I could feel the evil presence pulling at my soul, as it tried to implant within my spirit. I vowed then not to ever look at this stuff again. Commitments can be for life. The Lord helps us stand in purity.

Nothing can be more hurtful in a single or married life than for one to participate in pornography or sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman. Neither can nothing be more destructive to an individual life than being used for someone else’s lust fulfillment than in our massive sex trafficking industry worldwide.

Freedom from sin has been bought with a price – a very high price. Jesus Christ offered Himself on the cross to free us from the curse of sin, enable us to overcome temptation and to live a life pleasing to the Father.

“For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:20, NASU)

While we pray for those who have been caught up in the vicious trap of sexual immorality, with repentance and forgiveness, we also humbly receive the love of the Lord for ourselves, which each heart longs to know and be known. He alone can fulfill all needs and desires.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Sukkot Reflects Longing to Tabernacle with God

This year, more than 5,000 Christians from nearly 100 countries are here for the weeklong celebration.
They came to worship the God of Israel and stand with His people.

"I know it's going to be a life-changing experience," said Charity, a young woman from Vermont, who
is here for the first time. "I love Israel and I think that it's a time when things are going to turn around
and it's very prophetic and to be a part of being able to give back to the people that gave to us."

David Parsons, vice president of the ICEJ, told CBN News why Christians come up to Jerusalem at
this time of the year.

"They're following the invitation of Zachariah 14 where it says that one day all the nations will come
up to celebrate this biblical feast here in Jerusalem, to worship the Lord and keep the Feast of
Tabernacles and we're showing up now as a statement of faith that that day is coming when the
Messiah will rule here," Parsons said.

He said this year's theme – 'Dare to Dream' – comes from Psalm 126.

"'When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion we were like those that dream' and it's about the
dream of Israel, all those centuries being restored back to the Land ending the exile, coming back here
and we live in the day of Israel's restoration," Parsons said.

"Israel's now 70 years old as a reborn state and there's much to celebrate. They've overcome many wars,
terror attacks, rocket barrages, economic boycotts, other attempts to strangle it," he said.

As part of this year's celebration, people are getting the CBN documentary "To Life: How Israeli
Volunteers are Changing the World." The film shows how Israel works to be among the first to respond
to disasters and needs around the world.

"We're very happy that all the Feast pilgrims are going to go back with copies of it in English and
we're partnering with CBN to also provide Hebrew copies to all Israeli guests to the Feast this week,"
Parsons said.

The excitement and joy at being here for the Feast is palpable. The Christians are definitely glad to be
here.

Ludy Capuyan, is a Filipino caregiver here in Israel. She and her friends, also from the Philippines and
also caregivers here, all came to the Feast.

"It's great. It's part of prophetic words from the Bible," Capuyan said.

"I came because I love Israel and I want to see the prophecies fulfilled," said Ray Landis, a first-time
visitor from Vermont, USA. "We've just been studying the things of the Bible and it talks about how
Jerusalem is going to be restored and Israel is going to be restored and we want to be part of that. It's
amazing," said Landis, who hopes to be back again.

Mario DeCosa, from Angola, is also a first-time visitor.

"I'm really delighted and thrilled at what I have been witnessed since yesterday evening and I think
now I take with me a commitment to pray more for Israel, for the peace of Israel, for Jerusalem and
even do more to mobilize more people to work toward the peace of Israel," DeCosa told CBN News.
