Do You Release These 12 Crucial Sounds of Prayer?

JAMES GOLL  CHARISMA NEWS
Each and every one of us has a part to play in God's orchestra of prayer. What is your special sound? What instrument do you play? The Holy Spirit directs the movements of this divine symphony according to the score of God's Word.
I have identified 12 distinct "sounds" that come forth in the orchestra of prayer. How many of these sounds are part of your prayer arsenal?
1. Thanksgiving
Prayers of thanksgiving are like the first movement in a symphony. They open the way to a concert of worship and intercession. The psalmist declares, "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving" (Ps. 100:4), and that is what we do. That is what happened for the grateful leper in Luke 17:11-19.

According to Old Testament law, lepers were supposed to declare, "Unclean! Unclean!" wherever they went (see Lev. 13:45), and they were expected to stay away from other people. But 10 lepers approached Jesus for healing. Nine of them continued on their way, incredulous and in high spirits. But one turned around and came back to express his thanks directly to the rabbi whose power had healed him. He is the one whose thankful heart opened the way to more liberty, joy, and healing. The others were cleansed—but he was made whole. Jesus told him, "Your faith has made you well" (Luke 17:19b). Thanksgiving is an important quality of a healthy, whole person.
2. High Praise
What follows "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving"? It is "and into His courts with praise" (Ps. 100:4). Thanksgiving and praise are not quite the same thing. There is a progression. First, we thank God for His goodness: "For the Lord is good" (v. 5a). Then, we praise Him for His greatness: "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised"(Ps. 48:1a). Always remember that praise is one of the highest weapons of spiritual warfare. Praise opens prison doors and sets the captives free.
3. Worship
Following thanksgiving and praise, we move into heartfelt worship. Despite the fact that I am comparing these aspects of prayer to instruments in an orchestra, in reality, worship pertains less to music—which is how we tend to think of it in a contemporary church context—and more to an inner attitude of the heart. To worship is to bow down, to kneel, to prostrate oneself.
We might begin with joyful shouting, as Psalm 95 encourages us in its first few verses, because God is so great. Our expressions of praise, which can be chosen as an act of the will, may then lead us into heartfelt worship as the ultimate expression of surrender to God. Worship, according to the first point of the Westminster Shorter Catechism, is "the chief end of man." It is foundational to our faith, with or without audible musical notes.
4. Dedication (Consecration)
Building on what has come before, we present ourselves to God. We "present [our] bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is [our] reasonable service of worship" (Rom. 12:1b). This enables us to enter into the high priestly prayer of Jesus in John 17 as we are set apart for the Lord and sanctified. He prayed to the Father, "For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they may also be sanctified by the truth" (John 17:19).
Our prayers of consecration are a lovely sound to the Lord's ears. He loves to hear "saving grace" prayers, too, but our dedication and consecration prayers show Him that we know we are not our own, that we were bought with a price. "I surrender all" resounds from the orchestra of prayer. Jesus Christ is our Master and Lord!
5. Prayers of Commitment
As we progress, our prayers of dedication and consecration lead to prayers of commitment, and we say, as the psalmist did, "Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth" (Ps. 31:5). As we commit ourselves to Him, we rest in faith-filled trust. He will take care of us, down to the smallest detail of our lives. "Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you" (Ps. 37:5, NLT).
Committing is an act; trust is an attitude. Whenever your load becomes too heavy, you cast your burden onto the Lord (see 1 Pet, 5:7.) You commit it to Him. And then you leave it with Him; you trust Him with it. You give it and then leave it.
6. Prayers of Petition
Many times, we pray simple prayers of petition in addition to prayers of commitment. We can expect each of our prayers to be answered—if they line up with the will of God. "This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us" (1 John 5:14, MEV). I like to say it this way: God came up with the original "World Wide Web." His "WWW" consists of His will, His Word and His ways.
When you pray, do you ask the Bible way? "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you will have them" (Mark 11:24). This does not mean that you will have everything you fervently desire, but that you will align your desires with His as you walk in increasing holiness.

7. Prayers of Intercession

At last, we reach intercessory prayer (the primary topic of my book, Strike the Mark). Did you know that all those different "sounds" of prayer must be heard first? We have to come through the gates with praise before we can enter into the Most Holy Place.
Intercession is not "devotional prayer." That form of prayer should have been covered already in your earlier time of communion with the Lord. Intercession is making prayers of petition on behalf of others, standing in the gap between man's imperfection and God's perfection. We confess the iniquity of others as if it is our own and we ask for God's mercy. (See, for example, Isa. 59:2-15.) What a high honor it is, a labor of love, to be allowed to stand in the gap on behalf of other people!
8. Prayers of Supplication
The apostle James tells us that "mercy triumphs over judgment" (James 2:13b). To pray according to mercy is always to pray according to God's heart. This is much more difficult than it sounds—even impossible. In fact, you cannot lift up a cry for mercy without receiving God's grace to do so.
"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Heb. 4:16, KJV). We cannot come boldly to the throne of grace in our own human strength. We must come with heartfelt thanksgiving, praise, and worship, surrendering our own agendas. Then we can receive His heart of mercy and pray according to His will.
9. Prayers of Command
At times, coming "boldly" entails uttering commanding words of prayer, as Joshua did when he spoke to the Lord and then released commands to the sun and the moon, so that the sun stood still for an entire day (See Josh. 10:12-15.) It takes a profound gift of faith to do something like that.
The prayer of command is declarative in nature. Even though you may not play that "instrument" regularly in the prayer orchestra, it is important to know that it is an authentic biblical option.
10. Prayers That Decree a Blessing
Much more often, we utter prayers of blessing, even decreeing specific blessings. We can bless others with the words that the Lord gave to Moses,"May the Lord bless you and keep you." Remember this key point: we are part of a speech-activated kingdom.
This is how God releases His blessings on His people: "They will put ['invoke, NKJV marginal note] My name upon the children of israel, and I will bless them" (Num. 6:27). When, fueled by the gift of faith, you decree something that is according to the will, word, and ways of God, all things are possible! (See, for example, Matt. 19:26.)
11. Prayers that Thwart the Enemy
Can we utter prayers that denounce or limit the powers of darkness? Can we bind Satan from continuing his work? Well, Jesus illustrated the believer's power to do so when He cursed a fig tree that was not bearing fruit, after which it withered and died. (See Matt. 21:18-22.) This is like a prayer of command coupled with righteousness and faith. Jesus inspected the tree and found no figs, only leaves, on it. It had given the external appearance of being fruitful, but upon closer examination, it proved to be unproductive.
This is the kind of prayer that draws a line in the sand and says, "Enough is enough. No more!" This form of prayer should be exercised with wisdom perimeters. It requires clear discernment and faith and should be employed only after confirmation from God.
12. Persistent Prayers
The final sound in the orchestra of prayer is one of persistence. The orchestra keeps on playing even if the lights go out. There is the familiar parable in the book of Luke about the persistent widow whose appeal to the judge was answered only because she would not let it go. (See Luke 18:1-8.) Earlier in Luke, Jesus told another parable about a friend whose persistent entreaties produced results. (See Luke 11:5-8.)
Keep on praying. Don't give up. The more you pray, the more God will keep on drawing you into His heart. You and I have been called to be enforcers of the kingdom of light over the (temporary) kingdom of darkness. Giving up is not an option!

Target Practice

Almighty God, in Jesus' great name, I thank You that the fervent prayer of a righteous believer prevails! By the grace of God, I am adding these various sounds of prayer into my understanding. Holy Spirit, guide and direct me in choosing which instrument should be selected at the appropriate time and how to play it. I praise and thank You that You are teaching me how to release prayers that will strike the mark without fail in Jesus' great name. Amen and Amen!

"Signs Given from the 145th Kentucky Derby" - Johnny Enlow The Elijah List

"Signs Given from the 145th Kentucky Derby"

Johnny Enlow The Elijah List
May 8, 2019
From the Desk of Steve Shultz:
Steve ShultzOver the many years of being in the prophetic, I've learned of the enormous variety of prophetic revelation that various people are gifted with. Whether they are called a prophet or are just simply prophetically gifted, it has been fun to learn how God speaks through these amazing and fascinating voices.
One of my favorites was Bob Jones, who before his passing, OFTEN gave words of revelation from famous sports events such as the World Series, the basketball championship, etc.
Emerging in later years, Johnny Enlow stands out as one who is able to read the SIGNS in the earth (and in sporting events) to convey messages intentionally sent from Heaven by these events.
On the one hand, each sport or competition is just men and women doing their best to win. Yet beyond that, God is working in and through and by these people to tell a story, or paint a picture, or prophesy from Heaven what God is saying and doing in the earth today.
So with that, I'll let Johnny Enlow speak here as he "unpacks" revelation FROM HEAVEN as it relates to the famous Kentucky Derby Horse Race! It's quite amazing what God is showing him.
I'd get yourself a cup of coffee and read slowly through all the signs and symbols the Lord uses here. (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

A unique and unforgettable race was just ran last Saturday and the controversies abound as Maximum Security was disqualified, and 65-1 odds Country House was declared the winner. The race conditions for the second year in a row were quite bad – with a huge field of horses, it made for a very muddy race.
For this article, I want to take note of the key numbers and names that stand out to me as being a part of the message. Maximum Security, Omaha Beach, Country Horse and Code of Honor will be referred to, as well as the numbers 7, 20, 65, and 145. I will also close with a paragraph on the Virginia Cavaliers winning the NCAA men's basketball championship recently, as I have not commented on that and there is a significant, connective message there too.
A Psalm 145 Time
"A season of improbable wins is before us."
A Psalm 145 time in itself would be worth doing an entire article about. In the midst of sloppy, muddy conditions we are actually in an amazing Kingdom season. I will just quote a few lines from this Psalm, but really we if take this Psalm intravenously at this time, we will live in personal revival.
Psalm 145:3 says, "Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom." Verses 4–7 are so awesome as they speak of how "one generation will commend your works to another, they will tell of your mighty acts..." These Scriptures continue with, "They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your JUSTICE" (emphasis mine). Verse 8 says, "The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love." Verse 13 continues, "Your Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and Your dominion through all generations. The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made."
On and on it goes, with life-giving statements for such a time as now, with verse 20 stating, "The Lord watches all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy."
Maximum Security Disqualified
If you watch the race, it can be hard to see the horse that was clearly the fastest, not being declared winner of the race. However, as you watch the replays it is quite evident that this horse veered suddenly to the right, cutting off other horses and creating a very dangerous scenario that not only knocked out a few horses, but could have easily turned into tragedy. It was seemingly miraculous how there wasn't a chain reaction of spilled horses as their heels seemed to clip each other.
Maximum Security is primarily a prison term, and a quote I saw said, "A prison that does as much as possible to keep prisoners from escaping and as part, watches them very closely."
Maximum Security came in as the undefeated horse and wore the coveted number seven. Prophetically, the two together did not represent a good thing, as it representatively speaks more of "deep state" control over society through its control of the 7 Mountains of Media: Arts, Family, Economy, Education, Government, and Religion. This "Maximum Security" tyranny of the 7 Mountains is being broken right now in a Psalm 145 moment of the Kingdom of God breaking in.
Omaha Beach Scratched
For those who don't know, it was actually a horse named Omaha Beach that was the favorite to win the Kentucky Derby, but the horse had to be scratched with a breathing disorder that required a surgery, which will now keep it out of the next two legs of the Triple Crown of horse racing. This, too, is significant. Omaha Beach has to do with D-Day and was a code name for the Normandy invasion of USA forces in World War II.
As I have been saying, behind the curtain of everything right now, we are at war in this country. However, this is not what marks this time as most important, and this is also more of a American Revolutionary War dynamic at play, rather than a World War II dynamic. The battle is between freedom and tyranny, and freedom is going to win. (Photo via Unsplash)
Country House Wins
Country House – what an unglamorous name for a Kentucky Derby winner, but there is a lot to this name. In my last prophetic post from just a couple of days before the race, I spoke about how May and June were going to be about "improbable wins," "agendas exposed," and "mysteries revealed." This will all be tied into a 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 reality of God choosing the weak, small, and foolish things of the world to confound the wise. In this race we see the "mighty" horses did not win, but the 65-1 odds horse (which would have been even much higher if Omaha Beach had stayed in) was declared the winner.
I looked up the word "country" and the definition came out as "possessing a style of rustic simplicity." This goes with this theme of the unimpressive defeating the mighty. Then, as I looked up the definition for "house," I found that it means "where a family lives." We are back to the family focus I have also been speaking of, and I will get to that again in a moment. Also, this horse's name goes macro and micro on us with "Country" speaking to the macro and "House" to the micro. It is time for both to win!
Can't You Talk Louder, God?
I think Country House will also end up having an application to the "House" of our "Country," and that is Congress. It is presently on a muddy, messy track, being pushed around and dominated by "Maximum Security," but the race judges are about to make a ruling to disqualify the tyranny of the bullying horse. (Once again, this is a symbolic message, and not one where we despise or hate the actual horse.)
65-1 Odds and the Number 20
Country House had 65-1 odds against winning and wore the number twenty. I believe that both of these numbers have to do with Psalm passages. Psalm 65 and Psalm 20 are also each worth a whole article, as they are particularly poignant and relevant for right now.
"The battle is between freedom and tyranny, and freedom is going to win."
Psalm 65 is incredible and powerful for right now. In verses 4-5 (emphasis mine) it says, "...We are filled with the good things of Your HOUSE...You answer us with awesome DEEDS OF JUSTICE..." This theme of JUSTICE continues to repeat itself. Verse 5 also calls Him "The Hope of all the ends of the earth..."Verses 6-7 (emphasis mine) continue, "...who formed the MOUNTAINS by Your power...who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of nations." It then closes with 5 verses on the many ways He is prospering us.
Psalms 20 is also so very powerful and worth digesting. It begins in verse 1with, "May the Lord answer you when you are in distress..." Verses 4-6 say, "May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed....May the Lord grant all your requests....Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He answers him from His holy Heaven with the saving power of His right hand." (Wow, just too good!) Then, appropriately enough, in verses 7-8 (emphasis mine) it says, "Some trust in chariots and HORSES, but we trust in the name of Lord our God....They are brought to their knees and fall, but we RISE UP and stand firm."
The Judges Decide
Ultimately, it was the stewards, or race officials, who determined both who won as well as how far down Maximum Security was demoted. It took 22 minutes for them to look at the video replays, to study the applicable rules and to make a decision. Ultimately they brought JUSTICE. This is a phenomenon taking place in almost all sports right now, with instant replay being used more and more as the determinant proof. Before, you only had to deceive a referee momentarily, but now any controversial play can be officially reviewed and a decision made as to what is just, based on the incontrovertible evidence of slow-motion, instant replay.
In soccer, it is revolutionizing the game. Faking out the referees was once a key part of the game, but now everything goes to the VAR (video assisted replay). A player can now get kicked off the field for something the referee didn't see. It is being used more and more in football, basketball and baseball, as well. It is a higher level of accountability. It only negatively affects those who had been abusing the old system. Justice is good for those in the right. We are going to sing for His incoming JUSTICE.
Virginia Cavalier/Code of Honor Connection
The Virginia men's basketball team defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the national championship game, thus vindicating themselves from the embarrassment of the first round loss of the previous year. The Cavaliers have orange as a primary color on their uniforms. This is the same color that the Clemson Tigers championed with when they won the national football title over Alabama. At the time, I shared the connection between the color orange and the mountain of family, and so that emphasis is staying with us this year.
Cavaliers vs Red Raiders
The word "cavalier" is defined as "a gentleman trained in arms and horsemanship" and "a mounted soldier." It specifically combines horsemanship and being a gentleman. As we note the connection to this year's Kentucky Derby, we see that a horse and his rider were disqualified for not adhering to being properly "cavalier."
The word "raider" is defined as "one who enters a place illegally, and usually violently." So in the basketball championship we see this Cavalier vs. Raider contrast and grace being on the Cavalier. A horse named Code of Honor came in second to Country House in the Kentucky Derby, and I see this as seconding the emphasis, at this time, of doing things cavalierly, honorably, and fairly, and the reward for doing so.
The RED raiders have to do with the mountain of media (my color chart has red being associated with mountain of media (you can read more about this in my book The Seven Mountain Mantle), as we have been raided with fake and false news, and that is being dealt with as well. (Photo via Pexels)
Finally, it was Kyle Guy who was MVP of the Cavaliers after his pressure-packed shooting (three free throws with 0.6 seconds in the semifinal). His story is that he has been fighting with fear and anxiety all year, needing a sport's psychologist and anti-anxiety medication just to get through the year. Yet in his weakness, when the key moment came, he was able to showcase unbelievable poise. Kyle was another great example of "the weak, small and foolish things" being used to defeat the mighty.
Final Word
Psalms 145, 65, and 20 are just full of life for us at this time. Take advantage to read them in their totality. A season of improbable wins is before us. God is marching sovereignly in our nation and superimposing His agenda over that and those which seem too strong for us. He is going to help us win in our house and help us win at a country level. In the midst of a muddy track, He is coming through as our Champion and our Promise Keeper. Remain in faith, remain in hope, remain in love; stay in honor in what is just, and in trust. It is a time for winning! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

"Walk With Me" - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Walk With Me

“Walk with me and work with me — watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." (Yeshua/Jesus Matthew 11:29-30, THE MESSAGE)

As believers in Jesus, Yeshua HaMashiach, we are called to walk with Him. We are called to hear, obey, and see His plans and purposes fulfilled not only in our lives but in those He touches through us as a result of our obedience. What a wonderful and privileged calling that is. To walk with Jesus, the King of the universe.

Boyhood home in Cedar Falls, Iowa - Steve Martin (1962-1985)
Since the call on my life to live for Him, knowing I received it at the age of 10 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, He has kept me in His grace, mercy, and love. For this, I will forever give thanks and testify of my Savior’s goodness and provision.

Walk with me. That is the challenge, and the opportunity, He gives to each. What have you done with His call on your life? Have you heard and obeyed? Have you experienced His adventures, while at the same time dying to self as that also comes with the call and the territory?

Just under 10 years ago, when my good wife Laurie and I founded the ministry of Love For His People, Inc, in April of 2010, primarily to support Messianic Jews in the promised Land of the Jews, Israel, He gave me even more of a challenge, to walk with Him, and in that doing and going, to share it with others. At first, I was not clear as to how to do it, but now, after 420 messages I call, “NowThink On This”, through 20 published books and over 300 videos which I have entitled as the series, “Walk With Me”, the picture has become quite clear.

It is all about hearing and obeying. Do what you know to do, even if having only a word or two to go by (and yet, having the entire Word of God as our instruction!), and He will take you on His journey one step at a time. It is all to share His love for the nations.

It is also quite clear to me that the Lord will put you through the tests, even as He did with Moses, Joseph, the prophets. Some for 40 years. Even Yeshua Himself had 30 years of training and then another 40 days and nights in the wilderness. Our God, and Father, does this to make sure you are willing and will continue to press on even when you want to quit. Been there. Done that.

During my 24 years of training and serving while with the ministries of three well-known international organizations, the Lord gave me several tests. Would I give my best? Would I seek to bless others through them and not myself? Would I receive from them what they had learned and were willing to teach me, knowingly or unknowingly?

Former luggage of Mahesh Chavda (1987-1999)
With one particular ministry, that of Mahesh Chavda Ministries (now known as Chavda Ministries International, to rightly include Bonnie Chavda), I counted my trips hauling luggage while taking them to the local airports of Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Charlotte, back and forth, as 400 plus. No exaggeration. I am an accountant.

And towards the end of this 14-year period with them from 1987-2001, my heart cry had become, “O Lord, when will I get to go?”

Now, after completing my 20th trip to Israel, this May 2019, the Lord continues to answer, and fulfill, that desire which He Himself placed there. And as a special side note, the black and gray pieces of luggage which I used to carry to the airport for Mahesh for his trips, which became mine back when he bought new luggage around 1999, has been with me on these many foreign ministry travels.

On this trip, I too gave one to a volunteer in Israel and will give the other to whomever just needs a well-traveled, answered-prayer, piece of natural and spiritual history. Maybe they too will do as I was able to do. (Or maybe with some new luggage I really hope!)

Be encouraged if you are still serving with another, longing for the day when you too will have your “vineyard” as I call this ministry of Love For His People. If you continue to hear and obey, in the little and the much, small and large, trust me, you will!
