HE IS FOR YOU – RECEIVE HIS BLESSING by Cathy Hargett

HE IS FOR YOU – RECEIVE HIS BLESSING

By: Cathy Hargett

November 23, 2025

My friends, chaverim, I am so grateful for you, for the mishpacha, the family of God, for all of us in Israel and the nations, who follow Yeshua, the God of Israel. I am so thankful to Him for making us one in His blood covenant with us. The Lord bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

The Bible says in Numbers 6:24-27,  that when this blessing is prayed over His people, it puts His Name on them. So, now you have the Name of God on you.

These words that the Lord gave to Moses and the priesthood to speak over Israel are seeping deeper into my soul. I am receiving from Him a new intensity of the truth that He is for me. He is for you. He is for us. He is for His people. The beauty of that blessing and the kindness of it, the goodness of it, so reveal Him and His heart.

He is so good. He is kind, like a Father with a child. His desire is to bless us. He wants to give us grace and favor and peace. This is Who He is! He wants us to walk and live with His face shining on us, walking with that Glory of His Presence on us and all around us.

The glorious face of God shines. We know this because of the scriptures about His Glory, how it shines like the sun. It is like His smile for us, beaming on us with everything that He is. His whole face lights up when He sees us! Oh, Abba, thank You for loving us!

“..His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.” (Revelation 1:16)

“There He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun..” (Matthew 17:2)

That light of His face, shining on us, is the splendor of His person, and it is powerful. It means powerful favor for us and powerful destruction for the enemy who would seek to destroy. This is the shining face of God that is on us. When He returns to us, that same Light of His face that is shining on us will devour all the darkness and every enemy forevermore.

“..the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will overthrow with the breath of His mouth and destroy by the splendor of His coming.” (II Thessalonians 2:8)

“..He looked like fire: and brilliant light surrounded Him..this was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. When I saw it, I fell facedown..” (Ezekiel 2:27-28)

The blessing in Numbers 6 is often called the Priestly Blessing or the Aaronic Benediction. It is to be spoken by the priesthood. Yeshua is the Great High Priest. And when Yeshua came and grafted us into the covenant He made with Israel, He made all of us a royal priesthood, a holy nation. We are to pray this prayer of His blessing over our loved ones and even over ourselves!

When we pray it, the supernatural blessing of God covers those who receive it. They are marked by God, with His Name placed on them. His Name is on us forever. Yeshua Himself places His Name on us. He also makes sure we, in the nations, know that this Name connects us with Israel and with the eternal Land, which speaks of the eternal Kingdom, and the place of His throne.

“..I will write on them the Name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new Name.” (Revelation 3:12)

He is so for us. He delights to bless us. He wants us to receive the blessing, the fullness of the Light of His face. Let’s receive it now from Yeshua, our great High Priest, and let’s pray it over others:

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. So they will put my Name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” (Numbers 6:24-27)

A letter to my Mom. Steve Martin

A photo of Mom from May 2025 in Charlotte, NC that I sent to her on Mother’s Day.

Nov. 24, 2025

Shalom you all.

I wrote this email back to my Mom (Lila Martin, age 90 in Charlotte, North Carolina) after she had written to me on my 71st birthday (Nov. 23, 2025) while I am here in Jerusalem, Israel with my good wife of 48 years, Laurie.

Mom said she had been reading my books, which I am very grateful for. Please read what I wrote in response because it may touch a place in your heart too.

I share her letter so you have a more fuller picture of my response.

Ahava and shalom,

Steve Martin in Jerusalem

P.S. I did do some slight edits to better explain “the back story”.

Mom’s email to me on Nov. 23, 2025.

Happy 71st 🎈🎂

Hope you enjoyed your day.

I just finished the 3rd book of yours since you left. (Steve: Laurie and I came to Jerusalem Oct. 16, 2025 for three months service with a Christian ministry.)

I never really could understand what you did to help others (in Israel) as you write on Facebook and take a lot of videos and pictures you post, but never really came to me what you do to help others, until I read your book (my 39th) “Love For His People” this week.

Also some interesting places you visited with the three men, “Ahava Adventures - The Louis Brothers in Israel” (2018). I had not been there so was interesting to me.

“Ahava Love Letters” (Steve: my 2nd book in 2011 I wrote after my first trip to Israel after forming Love For His People Ministry in 2010) was kind of like devotionals. Also enjoyed that.

One book I had read earlier made me very sad and sad for you, telling of all your disappointments. (Steve: My testimony of my early years through 2005, “The Promise” 2011.)

What is your weather there? Is in 70's here.

Take care. Love you, Mom

My response:

Dear Mom,

Thanks Mom for reading my books and sharing on each one. Most are like devotionals as I took my weekly messages and put into books for longer keeping.

“The Promise” did have disappointments but as I look back, as we all do, we can see the hand of our Lord in it all. One major way He draws us to Himself and keeps us seeking Him.

And here I am. I walk to these places again right here in Jerusalem and know that our good Savior knows all and loves all.

My testimony now is to testify about His faithfulness in each of our lives as we continue in His ways.

Laurie has had a less better time here but I know the Lord has a good plan for her too. She misses home and the kids very much, as a good Mom and Grandma do. We have heard that several have come as a couple and the wife goes back for a short time to be with family while the husband is still “deployed”. We will seek the Lord for His perfect plan.

Love you Mom! I am so happy you are reading my books. I have 39 you know!

Be well. Keep being a real testimony to those He has given to you as you are there being a light for Him. Please greet and give my love to those who know me there. Let them know I am singing and worshipping the Lord in the city He is coming back to soon.

Love you. You have been a true inspiration to me.

Somewhere Out There by Steve Martin

Nov. 23, 2025 Jerusalem, Israel

Greetings once again from Jerusalem, the place called the “mountain of the Lord”. And for good reason.

“Somewhere Out There”, a Disney theme song back in 1984, came to my attention this early morning, on my 71st birthday, as I sat on our Jerusalem apartment veranda (back deck two stories up) looking at the beautiful stars He created for each of us.

As is common in my life, the Holy Spirit touched my spirit and gave me the flowing message to share with you.

Be encouraged this day, to love those now about you; those which the Lord has put in front of you; and the ones behind you, as you continue to walk on your cherished trail.

Ahava and shalom,

Steve Martin

Jerusalem, Israel

P.S. Every day brings an opportunity to share His love. Be watching for those moments.

Somewhere Out There

But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” (John16:13, NASB)

On November 23, 2025, early in the morning Jerusalem time, each of our adult children back in the States shared a photo of their location on our WhatsApp family group, “Steve & Laurie Martin Family”. At the time, all were in the Carolinas.

When Ben sent a photo of Indian Land, SC with the words, “Cheers from Indian Land”, Josh followed with a photo from western North Carolina where he was for the weekend. And then Hannah joined in with a Christmas tree photo on the corner of Ballantyne and Hwy. 521 just over a mile from our USA home. (Christen, our youngest, was probably busy with her two young sons, Jack and Sam.She would chime in later with her “hearts”.)

Shortly thereafter, Ben shared a small clip from the movie, “An American Tail” (Disney, 1984) with the song, “Somewhere Out There”. (Ben is a Disney guy, especially having grown up in the ‘80s. I love how each of our kids have their own “joys and toys”.)

I had to look up the soundtrack on YouTube to get the full version and post back. It just seemed to fit the moment. (Somewhere Out There)

As we continue our time serving His people here in rhe Land, Laurie and my hearts beat warm for our original four, and thirteen more, immediate family, and beyond. When the Lord calls you, or “summons” you as I heard that correctly translated this week, your love for those you are gone from momentarily hasn’t been put behind. In fact, it grows more so as you realize you are walking in the steps He has ordained, that others may follow in His perfect plans and purposes as He leads them in their calling too.

Our coming to Jerusalem, “somewhere out there” for some, is exactly where our good Father has “summoned” us to be now. So, in faith, we heard and we obeyed, leaving much behind to do His will.

When the Lord calls, the wise men, and women, who respond, will discover an adventure far beyond their imagination, hopes, and dreams.

It may mean leaving all to do so, but if the One Who creates us knows what He is doing (and I very much believe Him), then our faith, our trust in Him will be the fulfillment we all long for in our lives.

As you seek Him in your daily walk, know in your heart, and then in your mind, that His way is the way, and with that you too can carry out that which He has placed deep in your spirit for you to do. Whether you are 21 or 71.

Somewhere, out there, our Lord is waiting. We have found Him here. He will be known by you too as you find Him where He is leading you also

U.S. President Donald Trump received 26 former Israeli hostages at the White House on Thursday, among them 17 who were freed only weeks ago in the ceasefire deal mediated by the president.

“You’re not a hostage anymore; today you’re heroes,” Trump told the former hostages and their families.

“It’s an honor to get to know all of you. I know some of you already. I know some of the previous hostages that we got out of very well. We love you all, and our country loves you all… you’re amazing people.”

In another short video clip of Trump’s address, he highlighted Matan Angrest, saying, “Because he was a soldier, Matan was subjected to great violence by his captors, to the point of losing consciousness. Alone and under special guard, he went through a genuine hell… Matan, you are a true inspiration to all of us.”

The president then presented each survivor and their families with the presidential challenge coin, serving as a symbol of respect and recognition with a unique theme.

The survivors in attendance included Matan Angrest, Omri Miran, Bar Kuperstein, Nimrod Cohen, Ziv and Gali Berman, Ariel and David Kunio, Matan Zangauker, Ilana Gritzewsky, Guy Gilboa-Dalal, Segev Kalfon, Evyatar David, Eitan and Iair Horn, Yosef-Chaim Ohana, Avinatan Or, Noa Argamani, Eitan Mor, and Elkana Bohbot.

Several survivors brought gifts to Trump. Twin brothers Gali and Ziv Berman presented him with a mezuzah that survived the fire that destroyed their home in Kfar Aza during Hamas’ invasion on October 7, 2023.

Survivor Omri Miran told Trump that he survived so he could hear his daughter call him “daddy” again, thanks to Trump. “When I saw [his wife] Lishi on television… I knew I had something to live for,” he said.

It was the third time Trump received former Israeli hostages after their release from Hamas captivity.

Ahead of the reception at the White House, the delegation of former hostages and dozens of their family members initially met with lawmakers from both parties in the Bipartisan Congressional Caucus for the Return of Hostages and Captives on Capitol Hill.

They also met several senior American officials, including Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“To our great hostages who now carry a weight, a story and experience that you never asked for… We will be your friends for life. We will be your advocates for life. We will continue to wear our pins, and we will continue to tell your story,” Democratic Representative Haley Stevens told the delegation, as noted by the Israeli embassy.

“Today we were able to bring both sides of the House, Democrats and Republicans, together into one room,” said Danny Miran, the father of Omri.

“This is an opportunity to thank you, American Jewry, and all those who took the trouble and labored and made efforts to bring these wonderful children home. In less than a month, we will be celebrating Hanukkah – the Festival of Lights – thank you very much for all these lights you have lit for us.”

Is Yeshua (Jesus) the arm of the Lord?

The arm of the Lord revealed.

Jhn 12:37 Although Jesus had performed so many miraculous signs before them, they still refused to believe in him,

Jhn 12:38 so that the word of the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled. He said, “Lord, who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

Jhn 12:41 Isaiah said these things when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.

Isaiah 52, "The Lord has bared (revealed) His holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

What do you think?

Thought from Leon Swart, Media Wiz at Christian Friends of Israel - Jerusalem

“If Palestine Always Existed”…The Nation of Israel Lives

“Palestine Always Existed,” Why Did Egypt Only Write About Israel?

I’m looking for a good, logical explanation from the “always was Palestine, always will be Palestine” crowd for this one as well.

If you’re still skeptical after I showed you ancient Jewish winepresses and Jewish purity baths carved into the land more than 2,000 years ago, let’s keep looking at more evidence.

Not in Jewish texts.

Not in Israeli archaeology.

Not in Zionist books.

Let’s check the records of other civilizations who lived in this region.

For example… the ancient Egyptians.

Let’s walk through the evidence Egypt left behind.

Egyptian scribes carving their own history into stone.

👉 Berlin Pedestal Fragment

On this fragment, Egypt lists three enemies: Canaan, Ashkelon, and Israel.

A people living in the land of Canaan more than 3,000 years ago.

👉 Amenhotep

On the temple inscription of Amenhotep, Egypt mentions the Shasu connected to the name of the God of Israel (the explicit name).

This is the earliest outside reference to the Israelite God.

Egypt knew these people.

Egypt knew where they lived.

👉 Anastasi

Papyrus Anastasi describes nomadic groups entering Egypt.

Once again, it names the Shasu tied to that same divine name (the explicit name).

This is an Egyptian document placing Israelite tribes in this region long before Rome, long before Athens, long before any concept of a Palestinian nation.

👉 Merneptah

The famous stele of Merneptah is the oldest mention of Israel in world history.

Egypt boasts of defeating Israel.

But here is the part you cannot ignore.

You can only brag about defeating a people who are already here.

👉 Shishak

Pharaoh Shishak carved more than one hundred and fifty towns he attacked in the kingdoms of Israel and Judah.

These towns still exist on the map today.

You can stand in them.

You can walk their streets.

You can dig and find Jewish life beneath your feet.

👉 A quick note about “Palestine” and the Philistines

Some people try to use the word “Peleset” (Philistines) in Egyptian texts as “proof” of an ancient Palestinian people.

But the Philistines were:

• Aegean Sea Peoples

• Non-Arab

• Non-Semitic

• Worshippers of Dagon and Baal Zebub

• Pig-eaters (archaeology confirms this)

• Settlers of only five coastal cities

They disappeared over 2,500 years ago.

Modern Palestinians are not their descendants, and no historian claims this.

Egypt mentioning “Peleset” has nothing to do with modern Palestinian identity. It simply refers to the ancient Philistines, foreigners who came from the Aegean and vanished long ago.

Respectfully - if this land had always been an Arab Muslim country called Palestine, how do you explain the fact that Egypt, a foreign empire with no incentive to defend Jewish history, repeatedly describes Israelite people and Israelite towns in this exact land more than 3,000 years ago?

Why exactly would Egyptian scribes document the Jewish people in the land of “Palestine”? It doesn’t make sense - unless Jews were here thousands of years before 1948.

I’ll wait.

People need people

As we spend these three months in Jerusalem, we continue to see the love of God the Father expressed in many ways.

We see Him move in the hearts of people for one another’s hearts. And as He does, they respond accordingly, and seek to spread His love.

Thank You, Lord. It is great to see and be a part of Your work.

More of You, Lord! Steve Martin message

More of You, Lord!

“We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God’s purpose prevails.” (Proverbs 19:2, The Message)

Coming to Jerusalem, our hearts were open to however the Lord directed our steps. We knew we were going to be involved with Christian Friends of Israel-Jerusalem, now directed by Tristan and Galya Hall, but not much beyond that. So, Laurie and I kept our “eyes fixed on Jesus” knowing His plans and purposes are always right. We just have to hear and obey as He leads.

We also have a heart for the next generation, having raised two sons, Josh and Ben, and two daughters, Hannah and Christen. Watching our eight grands now grow (7 grandsons and Dylan our Joy) has been heartwarming. We so long to see all young adults grasp the love and wonder that God the Father has planned for them. For them to know His ways and allow Him to direct their steps.

Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God!” (Prov. 3:5-7. The Message)

When six young adults walked into the CFI-Jerusalem meeting room our second week in the Land, we were amazed. Five young ladies and a groom-to-be were coming on board for two weeks, partnering with us. They were from David’s Tent ministry in Washington, D.C.

Leaders Taundi and Eric (to be married Nov. 26, 2025 at Succat Hallel), Grace Dillion (Concord, NC), Brawny (Idaho), Mary (Texas), and the youngest, 18-year-old Hannah were full of life and love for Jesus. They had already been in Israel for a few weeks and were committed now with connecting with CFI.

(Special note: Grace will be 21 on Nov. 23. I will be 71 on the same day. A great day! Birthday party in Jerusalem!)

Our daily outreaches to Bethlehem and surrounding areas in Jerusalem thrilled our hearts. Brawny started calling us “father and mother.” (Though she being around 20 we are more like her grandparents!)

What a joy to see the Lord moving on this generation! Even using the assassination of Charlie Kirk, who had a tremendous impact on high school and college age kids, the Lord is pouring out His Holy Spirit on our children worldwide.

Fathers, mothers, and grandparent are rejoicing and proclaiming, “More of you, Lord!”

“It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions.” (Joel 2:28, NASB

Come Lord! Bo Yeshua!

Mandarin Chinese Christian’s restaurant in Jerusalem

Yuan Lin Di

Nov. 16, 2025 Jerusalem, Israel

We were blessed today to have met and ate in Yuan Lin Di’s wonderful Mandarin Chinese restaurant off Jaffa Street in Jerusalem. Our new friend Roger Hoagland, men’s music worship pianist leader at Christ Church, treated us to her Christian establishment.

We also met a Chinese pastor there as we went up to her roof and saw her succah she had up for the feast. She also showed us her five rooms she rents out, and the guests enjoy two meals with the room each day.

I am amazed at the many people the Lord is putting us in contact with.

Oppounites for Liberation by Robert Lerman

Opportunities for Liberation

Israel’s multi-front war has transformed the Middle East.

Robert Lerman

4 AUG 2025 · 7 MIN

Since the Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October, Israeli soldiers have sacrificed their lives and livelihoods to defend their country against foes on at least five fronts, while Israeli citizens and diasporic Jews have been widely condemned for supporting those efforts. Tragically, fighting Hamas as it hides under hospitals, schools, and mosques in Gaza has inevitably caused great suffering and significant casualties among Gazan civilians. But in a supreme irony, Israel’s military campaigns have provided Lebanese, Palestinians, Syrians, and even Iranians with their best hope of political and economic gains in years.

One day, these wars may even be chiefly remembered for reshaping the region in ways that promoted freedom and economic opportunity. By dismantling Hamas and Hezbollah and degrading the Iranian threat, Israel has already created the conditions for political change in Lebanon and Syria. There may yet be opportunities to remake Gaza and even Iran itself. Taking advantage of these opportunities poses an enormous challenge to people in the region and in the wider world. But a successful and historic move towards decent governance would change the lives of millions and their descendants for the better.

For decades, Iran has sponsored and financed an Axis of Resistance, united by a pledge to destroy Israel. But each member of that axis has also inflicted great suffering on its own people, including economic hardship, political oppression, and the militarisation of their respective societies. The Islamic regime in Iran, the Ba’athist regime in Syria, and the Iranian proxies in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories have persecuted and murdered political opponents, jailed and tortured journalists, prevented self-determination for their populations, and sharply weakened economic opportunity for everyone living under their rule.

Hamas used funding from Qatar, Iran, and Western countries to build tunnel networks, rocket arsenals, and a terror army, diverting resources that could have been used to build hospitals, schools, and provide Gazans with economic opportunities. Hamas security forces have beaten and killed protesters, most recently shooting at desperate residents seeking food from a humanitarian group that Hamas does not control. A 2022 poll reported that most Gazans said they could not criticise Hamas without fear. Even before Hamas committed the atrocities that started a war with Israel in October 2023, the Hamas-run economy was failing its people.

Despite billions of dollars in external aid, especially from the UN and Qatar, an economy built for war did little to generate economic well-being. According to the IMF, in 2022, unemployment in Gaza reached 45 percent, over three times the thirteen percent rate experienced by Palestinians in the West Bank; 53 percent of Gazans lived below the national poverty line in 2022, compared to fourteen percent in the West Bank. Per capita income in Gaza was a quarter of what it was on the West Bank. After Israel disengaged from Gaza in 2005, the Palestinians squandered an opportunity to govern themselves in a proto-statelet. Instead, they elected a Hamas regime in 2006, which seized control of the Strip in 2007 and then refused to deliver either economic progress or political freedom.

Now, with the defeat of Hamas by the IDF, the local population has another opportunity if they are willing to take it. Ideally, local Gazans will play a role in disarming Hamas, opening the way to new leadership committed to human rights and economic prosperity rather than a futile war against Israel. Although the chances for reform look bleak at the moment, Israel’s campaign to destroy Hamas is the necessary precondition for a decent Gazan society. Certainly, Israel will need to play a constructive role, ideally with support from Western countries and Arab leaders, in helping any new governing body to build decent social institutions no longer obsessed with murder and martyrdom.

Even more promising is how Israel’s war against Hezbollah is transforming Lebanon and Syria. Hezbollah’s destructive role as a “state within a state” has undermined Lebanese sovereignty for decades by creating parallel governance structures that serve Iranian strategic interests rather than Lebanese national development. Before the fall of 2024, Hezbollah’s military capabilities included over 150,000 rockets and missiles, which threatened Israel and gave the militia de facto veto power over major political decisions within Lebanon itself. The assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005, widely attributed to Syrian and Hezbollah operatives, triggered massive protests and deepened these divisions. Subsequent political assassinations of anti-Syrian figures created a climate of fear and intimidation that has constrained political opposition ever since.

Hezbollah’s arms prevented the government from acting against the murderers of Hariri and the perpetrators of other assassinations. In 2008, Hezbollah fighters seized control of West Beirut after the government attempted to dismantle the organisation’s telecommunications network. It demonstrated its ability to paralyse the country if its interests were threatened, effectively making it impossible for other political factions to govern without its consent. The economic damage has been dramatic. Since 2013, per capita income has been cut by over thirty percent, the value of the Lebanese currency fell by over 95 percent, and unemployment rates among 15–24-year-olds have jumped from nineteen percent to nearly 25 percent.

By destroying most of Hezbollah’s leaders and weapons, Israel has paved the way for the Lebanese state to weaken the group’s grip on Lebanese politics, enabling the country to implement economic reforms and encourage domestic and foreign investment. Already, we are seeing signs of Lebanese retaking control of their society and disarming Hezbollah to avoid further pointless wars with Israel. In early February this year, Lebanon formed its first full cabinet since 2022 not backed by Hezbollah. Hezbollah has also ceded around 190 of its 265 military positions south of the Litani River to the Lebanese army, which has been dismantling Hezbollah’s military infrastructure and confiscating weapons in the area. And the government has pursued economic reforms that limit Hezbollah’s influence. Certainly, a resurgent Hezbollah remains a danger to progress, but none of Lebanon’s new abilities to govern would have materialised without Israel’s efforts to weaken the Hezbollah militia.

Syria, meanwhile, has finally escaped the Assad family tyranny. Under Bashar al Assad and his father, Syria was a police state with a terrible economy. The Syrian civil war claimed over 500,000 lives and displaced over thirteen million people, six million of whom now live as refugees in other countries. The economy had collapsed and annual GDP per capita, adjusted by purchasing power parity, fell to about US$4,190. Israel’s campaign to degrade Hezbollah’s military capacity contributed significantly to Assad’s eventual downfall. With Hezbollah forces stretched thin, Assad lost a critical pillar of support that had been keeping his regime afloat.

The collapse of the Syrian regime now presents an unprecedented opportunity for reconstruction efforts that prioritise Syrian national interests rather than Iranian regional ambitions. This could unlock international reconstruction assistance previously withheld due to Assad’s dismal human-rights record, while enabling the return of millions of Syrian refugees who might otherwise have remained displaced indefinitely. We are already seeing statements by Mr Al-Sharaa, the new leader of Syria, calling for peace with all its neighbours, including Israel, and a new focus on reconstruction, unity, and development. In turn, the US and Europe have lifted sanctions on Syria, enabling new investment and the growth of private-sector activity. Despite the country’s recent inter-ethnic strife, including some terrible attacks on the Druze, Syria has its best chance in years to develop its economy and society.

New governance is certain in Lebanon and Syria and likely in the Gaza Strip. But it remains to be seen whether or not Iran’s 85 million people can seize the moment to overthrow the Islamic regime and replace it with a secular alternative that can live at peace with its neighbours and pursue economic development. Certainly, Iran’s clerics have ruthlessly suppressed opposition, tortured demonstrators, abused the rights of women, conducted unfair trials, led the world in executions, and engaged in widespread corruption.

As part of its obsession with destroying Israel, the Iranian regime has devoted massive resources to funding nuclear development, ballistic-missile programs, and proxy forces across the region. Sanctions against Iranian sponsorship of terrorism and its nuclear program add to the costs borne by ordinary Iranians. GDP per capita is only US$4,770, even though Iran has the world’s third largest oil reserves and second largest gas supplies. Between 2013 and 2023, the value of the Iranian currency declined by more than ninety percent. Iranians have experienced electricity shortfalls, depletion of water supplies, and high poverty and inflation rates.

It’s no wonder that a survey of over 157,000 Iranians found that more than eighty percent of those polled would prefer an alternative government to the Islamic regime (99 percent of the 42,000-plus Iranian respondents polled outside the country said the same). Now that most of Iran’s investments in nuclear and ballistic-missile programs have been reduced to rubble by a country that Iranian leaders insisted was on its last legs, Iran’s clerical regime is weaker than at any time since the Iran–Iraq war in the 1980s. Although the regime is cracking down on dissent and arresting large numbers of civilians, the public might still rebel in the name of freedom and economic opportunity. With Iran’s educated population, technological capabilities, cultural heritage, and energy resources, a free economy not bent on eliminating Israel could make Iran a prosperous country.

Israel did not respond to attacks by Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran with the goal of replacing corrupt and repressive regimes and freeing Arabs and Iranians from repression and economic stagnancy. But, as a byproduct of the fighting, Israel has created the space necessary for a transformation of the region. Success is by no means assured but the liberation of formerly despotic and hateful regimes offers hope and historic new opportunities in a region where both are usually in short supply.

Robert Lerman, 2024 Prize Winner

Lifelong Learning

Emeritus Professor of Economics, American University

Fellow, The Urban Institute

Co-Founder, Apprenticeships for America

Dr. Robert Lerman, a distinguished economist and pioneering educator, has transformed the thinking of policymakers on the need to widen routes to rewarding careers. As a professor emeritus of economics at American University, senior fellow at the Urban Institute, and co-founder of Apprenticeships for America, Dr. Lerman has been a tireless advocate for apprenticeships, an “earn, produce, and learn” approach that can compete with and complement traditional college education. His work has been guided by the belief that most people learn best by doing and that an “academic only” approach limits career opportunities for many Americans and reduces the competitiveness and productivity of US employers.

In 2021, Dr. Lerman co-founded Apprenticeships for America and has been instrumental in advocating for sustainable funding mechanisms for apprenticeships. His efforts led to significant policy changes, such as California's implementation of formula-based funding for apprenticeship programs. Lerman headed the evaluation of the $175 million American Apprenticeship Initiative, which supported apprenticeship intermediaries and expanded opportunities across sectors like technology, healthcare, financial services, and logistics. His work with colleagues found substantial earnings gains for apprentices and positive economic returns of apprenticeship investments by most employers.

Dr. Lerman's innovative thinking is evident in his approach to apprenticeship, which focuses on building a national system with occupational standards, funding for selling and organizing employers to offer apprenticeships, training for mentors, and support for the off-the-job instruction. His vision for a system that aligns worker and employer interests with in-demand careers has been a guiding principle in his work, making apprenticeship a cost-effective and equitable approach to preparing for careers.

Recognized as America’s foremost expert on apprenticeships, Dr. Lerman has served on numerous influential panels and committees, including the National Academy of Sciences panel on the U.S. postsecondary education system and the Maryland Task Force on Economic Development and Apprenticeship. He has also testified before congressional committees on youth apprenticeship and the information technology labor market.

Dr. Lerman remains a prolific researcher and advocate, dedicated to expanding opportunities for lifelong learning and ensuring that apprenticeships are a cornerstone of America’s educational landscape.

Time After Time - message by Steve Martin

Time After Time He Has Provided

Deuteronomy 7:9: “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations.” Jeremiah 31:3b “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued my faithfulness to you.” (Bible)

By this time, you know I love worship music, be it in Hebrew or English. The song by Noah Paul Harrison of Bethel Music, entitled “Elohim” is one of those songs.

The lyrics include these words, “time after time we asked if You were able. And time after time You proved.”

When Laurie and I were confirmed in June 2025 to come to Jerusalem by a ministry, I wanted to get our plane tickets immediately. One, before they went up in price. Two, so there was not backing out. At $3,150, it was “all systems go!”

But how would I pay for the credit card charge you ask? So did I.

I prayed. I asked the Lord. “Lord!” (Sometimes a simple prayer is just as effective. He already knows what He is going to do on our behalf. We just have to ask Him.)

“The cash you saved from your accounting contractor jobs since March to pay your property taxes. Use that.” All $2,995 of it.

So, I deposited it into the bank and paid the the airline credit card charged tickets off.

But what about the taxes dues before we left in October?

“Sell your second car.” So, I did. (And then I believe I will pray for a small truck when I get back after three months service in Jerusalem. Or more.)

That brought our bank accounts down to almost nothing. I am not kidding. I took a screenshot photo on Aug. 20, 2025 (see photo) of them. I did that just so when I look back months or more later, I will remember what the Lord did. It will be another testimony of His guidance and faithfulness. As He does, time after time.

But then we were to need more funds for our three months in Israel, beyond relying on our social security monthly stipends.

So, what did the Lord do? He sent Chet, an 84-year-old former pastor, and special needs teacher, to come and stay in our home. He also gives us a monthly rent to cover the utilities and such.

And the Lord Jesus (Yeshua) gave us solid friendships built over the years, who now knew of our need and GENEROUSLY gave. The Lord told one to sell an ounce of gold and give to us. She did. We were then given a $3,000 check!

Several loyal and good ministries, who also love and support Israel, sent us large checks too. By September, we had received over $12,000! I have never had that kind of money (that I can remember) in our personal and the ministry of Love For His People accounts.

When I have often shared in my books (39 now and the 40th in the works) of walking by faith, I mean it. Over these 71 years I have walked with the Lord and can testify, even as Derek Prince did, so well known for having often said, “He is Faithful.”

Time after time. His love proves it. For me, and for you.

Who Will Stand - message by Steve Martin

American Christians stand with the Jews in Israel (Photo Nov. 12, 2025 Jerusalem, Israel)

Who Will Stand?

“Comfort and keep comforting my people,” says your God.” (Isaiah 40:1, Complete Jewish Bible)

Many have heard my testimony of when Derek Prince, the Bible teacher whom I loved and worked for, planted the seed in my heart in 1978 on Mackinac Island, Michigan at a Christian conference. His message was clear. Christians have a debt to Israel and the Jews.

I will not repeat the story again here, for it is already in a few of my earlier books. But the Lord began revealing His heart to me as a believer back then of what I must do now.

The Jews have given us the Bible, the full truth, and the Messiah Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach. I owe them a debt.

If you know Jesus as your Savior and Lord, so do you.

When considering what has been done to the Jews “in the name of Christ,” it deeply saddens me, and I want to cry out in repentance. The Crusaders, the Hitlers, the antiSemitists of today – all have killed and continue to try and wipe out the entire Jewish population. Why? Because Satan hates the Lord’s chosen, and anyone who sides with them.

As they say, “first the Saturday people and then the Sunday people.”

All this evil is still ongoing today as many claim to be doing the “will of God.” And yet, they are actually working against our Lord and Savior Yeshua, who is still a Jew and loves His chosen people. (Recall Saul in Acts.)

Even as the Tuckers and the Candices spread further lies about Israel, the Jews, and Christian Zionists (I know whom I am siding with, to my dying day) there must be more of us willing to speak the truth. In boldness. In love. With the Holy Spirit’s power working in and through us.

These well-known “Christians” may not be saying “in the name of Christ” aloud, but they certainly are shouting it by other means.

God the Father is calling on Bible-believing Christians to bless His people, to lift them up, to comfort them as they return in prophetic fulfillment back here to Israel.

Myself, my wife, and many more are standing strong with the Jews. I personally can do nothing else but stand with them.

My prayer is that more Americans my age, and the next generation following, see the actual truth, speak the whole truth, and act on the truth revealed in the Bible. Blessing the Jews is a biblical promise with reward. (Genesis 12:3)

Will you be counted among those who the Lord will find standing on His side when He returns to Jerusalem?

Ahava and Shalom,

Christian Friends of Israel - Jerusalem

Christian Friends of Israel - Jerusalem celebrated their 40th year of ministry last week, Oct. 5-8, 2025 in Jerusalem. International directors from 14 nations (of the 20+) were able to come.

Co-founder Sharon Sanders (front row, black/white outfit) spoke eloquently several times. Tristan and Galya Hall, now directors for the last 3 years, are leading the ministry into new horizons while maintaining vital relationships.

Laurie and I have been here now for three weeks, and served alongside the staff and volunteers for the wonderful days.
