Today's Israel Inspiration

In today's verse God promises to return the children of Israel to the land, and to guard them.  We see this miraculous process taking place before our eyes.  Jews have returned to many of the biblical cities and renewed the Jewish settlements of old. One of these inspiring locations is the city of Hebron where people still continue the mission of Abraham.  The Hebron Fund assists in keeping the Jewish presence in Hebron strong. Contribute to this year's Hebron Raffle and be a part of the continued presence of Jews in the city of our forefathers.

Berkeley students' surprising reaction to ISIS and Israeli flags on campus

Students at Berkeley clearly have a lot of intellect; it is one of the most prestigious and selective universities in the country. But do they have wisdom? Ami Horowitz, a satirist, went to the bucolic campus armed with two very different flags.

Just two days before the deadline for a nuclear deal with the West, Iran boasted that it has supplied advanced rockets to its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah, capable of hitting any target in Israel.

Dear Rabbi Weisz, Our prayers go to all the Jews during this difficult time. We pray that God will continue being there for the nation of Israel and that the plans of their enemies will not prevail. Poll: Arabs Prefer Israel to Palestinian Authority

Poll: Arabs Prefer Israel to Palestinian Authority

Tuesday, November 25, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff
The picture painted by the mainstream international media and loud-mouthed anti-Israel advocates is always the same: Israel is a racist and oppressive place to live for Arabs. This, so the argument goes, is particularly true following this week's government approval of the controversial "Jewish State" law.
But, if Israel's such a bad place for non-Jews to live, then why does an overwhelming majority local Arabs prefer life under the rule of the Israeli government, as opposed to the Palestinian Authority?
That was the finding of a survey commissioned by Israel's Channel 10 News and carried out last week by the Statnet research institute, which is headed by Israeli Arab statistician Yousef Makladeh.
Makladeh asked fellow Arabs plainly and clearly: "Under which authority do you prefer to live, Israel or the Palestinian Authority?"
A full 77 percent of respondents chose Israel.
This was despite the fact that most respondents said that as a minority, they experience some degree of racism, and that only nine perfect felt they enjoy full equality with Israel's Jewish citizens.
An 81 percent majority said they believe Israel is trying to alter the status quo on the Temple Mount, where Jews are currently forbidden to pray, but 84 percent said they oppose the reactionary violence emanating from the Arab sector.
An earlier Peace Index poll found that a 46.5 percent plurality of Israeli Arabs ultimately support allowing Jews to pray on the Temple Mount, which is Judaism's holiest site. Just 34 percent continue to oppose such a change, and 19.5 percent declined to weigh in on the topic.

These 11 Retailers Are Effectively Declaring War on Christmas

These 11 Retailers Are Effectively Declaring War on Christmas

The American Family Association is urging retailers to incorporate the word "Christmas" in their holiday marketing. (CharismaNews file)
Just in time for Black Friday shopping, American Family Association (AFA) has released its annual "Naughty or Nice" list of retailers who either embrace Christmas in their seasonal shopping campaigns or leave it out in the cold.
With the goal of keeping Christ in Christmas, AFA has reviewed the websites, media advertising and in-store signage of the top 100 national retailers in an effort to help consumers know which companies are Christmas-friendly and which are acting like "Scrooge."
"There are concerted efforts in our country to eliminate 'Christmas' because the word itself is a reminder of Jesus Christ," said AFA President Tim Wildmon. "Those who hate Christ want to eradicate anything that reminds Americans of Christianity. That is why it is important to remind companies to keep the word 'Christmas' alive. AFA wants to keep Christ in Christmas and Christmas in America."
AFA rates the retailers in four categories. AFA "5-Star" retailers promote and celebrate Christmas on an exceptional basis. These include: Belk, Hobby Lobby, Lowe's, Sears and Wal-Mart.
"Nice" retailers use the term "Christmas" on a regular basis and are considered "Christmas-friendly." The "Nice" list includes about 45 retailers, from Amazon.com to Zappos.com.
Thirteen retailers this year made the "Marginal" list, meaning these companies refer to Christmas infrequently or only in select advertising mediums.
The 11 retailers on the "Naughty" list may use "Christmas" sparingly in a single or unique product description, but as companies, do not recognize it. These include: Barnes & Noble, Family Dollar, Foot Locker, Limited Brands, Maurice's, Office Depot, Office Max, PetSmart, Staples, Supervalu and Victoria's Secret.
Last week, AFA announced a Christmas shopping boycott of the national pet retailer PetSmart for omitting any references to Christmas in its shopping promotions.
"PetSmart has ignored the pleas of its shoppers and AFA for years and doesn't deserve your business," Wildmon said. "As consumers, let's tell PetSmart that we won't be doing any Christmas shopping for Fido and Fluffy in its stores this year."
AFA reached out to PetSmart in 2007 and 2011 regarding its glaring omission of the word "Christmas"—with no response.
Soon after AFA sent the PetSmart Action Alert to its one million-plus friends and supporters last week, PetSmart sent a promotional email to its own consumer list, using the word "Christmas," but PetSmart's newfound "Christmas" spirit appears relegated to this one email and a small gift labeled "Merry Christmas" in a television commercial, with no indication of any real change on the part of the retailer.
In 2013, AFA encouraged a similar boycott of the Christmas-unfriendly Radio Shack, which saw dismal electronics sales and was forced to close 200 locations this year. In fact, many of Radio Shack's franchise owners joined AFA in urging the company to include "Christmas" in its marketing. This year, the shopping season at Radio Shack looks much different. The tech retailer began using "Christmas" well before the end of October. In fact, in a press release dated Oct. 22, Radio Shack promoted an "exclusive lineup of Christmas gifts."
In the past, AFA has called out Wal-Mart, Lowe's and Sears, urging them to use "Christmas" in their marketing efforts. Wal-Mart responded by stating, "We learned a valuable lesson. Next year, we will use Christmas early and often." Today, all three retailers are on AFA's "5-Star" list and have even set up Christmas shops inside their stores.

East Jerusalem Church Faces Regular Attacks

Jerusalem Church Faces Regular Attacks

Tuesday, November 25, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff
A church in the eastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Musrara has for months been facing regular attacks by local Arab Muslims over its refusal to sell the property and move out.
Living Bread International Church has ministry centers in Jerusalem, Gaza and Jericho. It has a 20-year lease on the Jerusalem location, but was recently told by a gang of Arab residents that it must vacate the premises, which is situated near the Old City.
"When we said we would not sell it, they decided to take it by force," Karen Dunham, pastor and director of the ministry, told The Jerusalem Post
Since then, Dunham said the church's 45 employees have been subjected to constant harassment, as have two Jewish orphans with Down's Syndrome that are housed at the facility.
Staff members, including Dunham herself, have been physically assaulted, property has been stolen, and the assailants have started building make-shift structures on the church's property in an attempt to take it over.
As with many similar situations in the city, Dunham has been frustrated by the Police Department's reluctance to fully and effectively enforce the law.
"We...took pictures of [the assailants] during attacks and [were] able to identify them using Facebook, but after filing the first two or three police reports I realized nothing was happening," she said. "They [the assailants] continued to sit outside [the church] and harass us."
Police in Jerusalem rarely take firm action in cases of Arab violence against the city's Jewish residents, and are even less likely to intervene in Arab assaults on a largely Arab church. And this for fear of further inflaming Muslim rioters who have for the past six months turned parts of Jerusalem into something of a war zone.

Star of David? - Dodge logos and hood ornaments

Dodge logos and hood ornaments
pages.citebite.com
The use of the Star of David in the Dodge Brothers logo goes back to 1914 and the first Dodge Brothers car built. It was last used on the 1938 Dodge.

  • Star: The original Dodge was a circle, with two interlocking triangles forming a six-pointed star in the middle; an interlocked "DB" was at the center of the star, and the words "Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicles" encircled the outside edge. Although similar to the Star of David, the Dodge brothers were not Jewish. Although the "Brothers" was dropped from the name for trucks in 1929 and cars in 1930, the DB star remained in the cars until the 1939 models were introduced.

Unbroken: What the Movie Doesn't Say about Louis Zamperini

Unbroken: What the Movie Doesn't Say about Louis Zamperini

Just days before his death this summer, Olympic track athlete and former WWII prisoner of war Louis Zamperini  finished his final race: the completion of his book, Don't Give Up, Don't Give in.
In it he chronicled lessons he learned during the war and what he learned after he surrendered his life to Christ.
It's a life that made even Hollywood take note. On Christmas day this year "Unbroken,"a movie about Zamperini's life, opens in theaters nationwide. It was directed by actress Angelina Jolie.

Louis Zamperini
The epic feature will focus on Zamperini's childhood, Olympic adventures, and survival as a POW during WWII. It does not portray his salvation experience during a 1949 Billy Graham crusade in Los Angeles.

How did Zamperini come to know Christ? CBN News' Heather Sells spoke with Zamperini's son Luke about the film, his dad's salvation, his ability to forgive, and God's timing in his father's life.

Swiss museum accepts 'hidden' art bequeathed by controversial dealer

A Swiss museum agreed on Monday to accept a priceless collection of long-hidden art bequeathed to it by German collector Cornelius Gurlitt, but said it will work with German officials to ensure any pieces looted by the Nazis from Jewish owners are returned.
German authorities in 2012 seized 1,280 pieces from Gurlitt's apartment while investigating a tax case, including works by Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall. Gurlitt died in May, designating Switzerland's Kunstmuseum Bern as his sole heir.
The museum's president, Christoph Schaeublin, told reporters in Berlin that the Kunstmuseum Bern had decided to accept the collection after long, difficult deliberations.
"The ultimate aim was to clarify how the Kunstmuseum Bern could meet the responsibilities imposed upon them by the bequest," Schaeublin said.
Shortly before he died, Gurlitt reached a deal with the German government to check whether hundreds of the works were looted from Jewish owners by the Nazis.  Authorities have said that deal is binding on any heirs, and Schaeublin said the museum would undertake extensive research to determine the provenance of the works.
According to an agreement the museum worked out with German authorities, a task force set up by the government will also continue to investigate the background of the art to determine if it was looted, and whom it was looted from.
If no owner can be found for a looted piece, the agreement calls for the work to be exhibited in Germany with an explanation of its origins so the "rightful owners will have the opportunity to submit their claims."
German officials said all works will remain in Germany until the task force finishes its work. An update on the research is expected "in the course of 2015."
One of Gurlitt's cousins has also filed claim, which a Munich court said Monday would have to be sorted out before the collection goes anywhere.

lyrics
He’s Coming Again
Asher haya v’hoveh v’yavo
Who was and is and is to come
My Savior came, gave His life for me
And I know He’s coming back to bring me home

I know He’s coming again
I know He’s coming again
Yes, I know
He’s coming again
I know He’s coming again
He’s coming again, He’s coming again

Doo, doo, doo...

We’ll keep on singing ‘til
He comes again
Then we’ll sing some more
We’ll keep on singing ‘til He comes again
Until we reach the golden shores

We’ll keep on singing ‘til He comes again
Then we’ll sing some more
We’ll keep on singing ‘tilHe comes again
Then we’ll sing forevermore!

Yes we know, He’s coming again
Yes we know, He’s coming again
We know, He’s coming again
Yes we know, He’s coming again
He’s coming again, He’s coming again

Doo, doo, doo...

Oh we know, He’s coming again
Yes we know, He’s coming again
We know, He’s coming again
...
We know, He’s coming again
Oh, He’s coming again
Yes, He’s coming again
He’s coming again, He’s coming again
