The GOP and Israel By David Rubin November 15, 2015 BREAKING ISRAEL NEWS

The GOP and Israel

Growing up in “progressive” New York City, I always believed that the Democrats were the only party in town. Republicans (otherwise known as the GOP, or Grand Old Party) were stereotyped as those “rednecks and hicks who live in the sticks” and no Jew in his right mind could ever dream of voting for them.
My views have evolved since then, not only on the liberal knee-jerk social issues such as abortion, same-sex marriage, and school prayer, but especially on what is rapidly becoming a major issue in the GOP – Israel.
While most politicians in Congress would claim to be pro-Israel, the overwhelming majority of Congressional Democrats voted for the Iran nuclear deal, which will enable the staunchly anti-Israel Islamic nation to acquire the nuclear bomb within ten years. That agreement was bitterly opposed by most Israelis across the political spectrum.  Furthermore, the leading Democratic candidates for president are on record as supporting an independent Palestinian state. They also oppose Israel’s right to build homes in its ancient and reestablished capital Jerusalem, as well as in its biblical heartland – the regions of Judea and Samaria – mistakenly known to most of the world by the fictional term, the West Bank.

This po‎sition is taken by leading candidate Hillary Clinton, who infamously phoned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during her term as Secretary of State to sternly lecture him for 45 minutes about the illegality of Israel granting a building permit to Jews in Israel’s capital city. Her views have not changed.
BIN-OpEd-Experts-300x250(1)
Perhaps it’s time for Jews and other supporters of Israel to take a closer look at the Republicans? Most of the GOP candidates were vehemently opposed to the Iran nuclear deal, and they also tend to support giving Israel a free hand in crushing the terrorism, although some are vague on specifics when it comes to the Palestinian state issue. Let’s examine those who are leading in the polls:
Donald Trump – Trump’s statements about how he loves Israel, and how bad a deal the Iran nuclear deal is, as well as his calls for a very strong American policy against ISIS – all of these are certainly positive, although Mr. Trump has so far been very short on specifics about the Palestinian state issue. His daughter Ivanka is a convert to Judaism and she and her Jewish husband and children are reported to be Sabbath-observant members of an Orthodox synagogue. While that may have a positive influence on Trump’s Land of Israel views, the jury is out until we hear specifics.
Ben Carson – Dr. Carson is on record as opposing the “land for peace” formula of Israel surrendering land in exchange for a peace treaty. In March of 2015, he responded to a questioner, saying, “We need to look at fresh ideas. I don’t have any problem with the Palestinians having a state, but does it need to be within the confines of Israeli territory?” His views tend to be historically/biblically based, which emphasizes that they are genuine and not just produced for political consumption. Carson has also expressed deep concern and has been very vocal about the Islamic Jihadist threat to Western civilization. Such an understanding inherently makes him sympathetic to Israel’s challenges as the one bastion of freedom in the hostile Islamic Middle East.
Support Child Victims of Terror
Ted Cruz – Senator Cruz has spoken out consistently about the importance of letting Israel decide for itself on issues of war and peace and on the Palestinian state issue. He has stated clearly that settlement is an internal Israeli issue that the United States administration should not be involved in. Says Cruz, “I don’t believe an American president should be dictating to the nation of Israel where Israelis can choose to live. And the fact that Israelis choose to live in Judea and Samaria is not justification for terrorism or murder.” It’s also relevant to note that Cruz used the correct historical, biblical terms for the so-called West Bank, making him unique among most of the leading candidates.
Marco Rubio – Rubio has said that if elected, he would not honor the Iran nuclear deal and has also called for the United States to stand with Israel “unconditionally” in its battle against its enemies. While strongly blaming the Palestinian Authority (PA) for the current terrorism and the tensions between Israel and the PA, Sen Rubio has referred to the two state solution, which generally means the land for “peace” formula as the desired goal. He has qualified that by emphasizing that it’s not a realistic goal at this time. According to Rubio, “That’s the ideal outcome, but the conditions for a two-state solution at this moment do not exist.” This places him firmly in the camp of Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has repeatedly expressed support for a demilitarized Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria, as long as it recognizes Israel as a Jewish state.
————————————————————————————–
Even though it’s accurate to say that the GOP candidates cited above are sympathetic towards Israel, I agree that it requires great courage for the candidates to be more Jewish than Israel’s political “Pope”, otherwise known as Binyamin Netanyahu. Nonetheless, the difficult question should be asked of the GOP candidates, “If the PA publicly recognizes Israel as a Jewish state and agrees not to have heavy weapons, would he support the establishment of such an Islamic terrorist nation in Israel’s biblical heartland, in the strategically-vital hills overlooking Ben Gurion International Airport?
Shouldn’t that question be asked of Netanyahu, as well?

Trump: ‘Obama Hates Israel, Jewish State Safe With Me’ - II&ET Nov. 1, 2015

Trump: ‘Obama Hates Israel, Jewish State Safe With Me’ - II&ET Nov. 1, 2015

REPUBLICAN presidential candidate attacks deal with Iran, which he says leaves Israel in ‘so much trouble’ “So many friends in Israel, they don’t know what happened,” “They actually think Obama hates Israel. I think he does.”
R

epublican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Thursday that he believes US President Barack Obama hates Israel, citing the recent nuclear deal with Iran which he said was “so bad” for the Jewish state.

“So many friends in Israel, they don’t know what happened,” he said of the agreement between Tehran and the US, along with other world powers. “They actually think Obama hates Israel. I think he does.”

Speaking during a campaign speech in Reno, Nevada on, the business magnate added: “Honestly, I think Israel is in such a massive amount of trouble because of the agreement.”

Trump vowed to defend Israel if elected president. “Israel is safe with this one,” he said, pointing to himself. “Nothing bad is going to happen to Israel.”

Trump, a brash billionaire businessman, dominated the Republican field for months. Recently he has been losing ground to neurosurgeon Ben Carson.

Neither Trump nor Carson are career politicians but both have capitalized on anti-Washington, anti-establishment feeling among many conservatives.

Israeli leadership has sharply criticized the Iran deal, and the issue had served to further fracture relations between Jerusalem and Washington. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is said to have enraged Obama by trying to turn Congress against the deal behind the president’s back. Meanwhile the US’s handling of the nuclear negotiations, the Palestinian conflict and other regional challenges have greatly diminished Israelis’ trust in the American leader, with many seeing him as weak, naive, or both.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon this week declared the dispute over the accord over. “The Iran deal is a given,” he said in Washington while meeting with his US counterpart Ashton Carter. “Our disputes are over. And now we have to look to the future.”

Netanyahu is to be hosted by Obama at the White House on November 9 — their first face-to-face talks in over a year.
Though generally unpopular in Israel, some security experts — including former heads of the Shin Bet and Mossad — have said it has its good aspects. Former IDF chief of staff Benny Gantz has said he sees the benefits of the accord, which he has acknowledged will probably put off a nuclear-armed Iran for at least 10-15 years. The diplomatic effort, he said, probably prevented war from breaking out.
The Republican nominee will most likely face Hillary Rodham Clinton, former first lady and secretary of state in the 2016 presidential race. The overwhelming favorite for the Democratic nomination, her campaign received a boost from a strong debate performance two weeks ago.

What You Need to Know About Media Bias and Isaiah's Prophecies - LARRY TOMCZAK CHARISMA NEWS

What You Need to Know About Media Bias and Isaiah's Prophecies

A "Cruz" missile exploded at last week's Republican debate on CNBC's most-watched program in 30 years. While maintaining a right spirit, may all of us follow the example of Senator Ted Cruz who reached the tipping point and decided to speak out regarding ongoing and escalating media bias towards conservatives and traditional values.
In case you missed it, let me replay what occurred as incompetent and mean-spirited moderators displayed their arrogance and received the pushback and humiliation they richly deserved. May this episode be a "first shot over the bow" in exposing what is so obvious to many of us and yet masses remain ignorant of how pervasive this unfairness is in the media today.
Our unashamedly born-again brother said the following: "The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don't trust the media. This is not a cage match. And if you look at the questions—'Donald Trump are you a comic book villain?' 'Ben Carson, can you do math?' 'John Kasich, will you insult two people over here?' 'Marco Rubio, why don't you resign?' 'Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?' How about talking about the substantive issues that people care about? The contrast is with the Democratic debate, where every fawning question from the media was, 'Which of you is more handsome and wise?' Let me be clear: The men and women on the stage have more ideas, more experience, more common sense than every participant in the Democratic debate!"
His words emboldened the other candidates who also spoke up when they had their turn.
Rubio addressed ever-present media bias. Governor Christie called out the moderators for raising a stupid question about fantasy football ... "Wait a second, we have $19 trillion in debt, people out of work, we have ISIS and al Qaida attacking us and we're talking about fantasy football? Can we stop?!"
A reporter for USA TODAY, Rem Rieder, stated afterwords GOP accusations that "the media is deeply infected with liberal bias" and "often the attacks on the media are nonsense." Yet this time things were so blatant even he admitted there's truth to the claim.
May God use this experience to awaken scores to mainstream media's meanness and manipulation today. Last week's debate simply validated this fact as the clever moderators fired questions which were condescending, cruel and contentious. With a few exceptions, we no longer have historic, objective journalism in America. It's gone!
Journalism's icon, Ted Koppel, who was anchor of Nightline for decades stated recently in TIME Magazine we've entered a different era. In the interview he expressed that we are seeing "the end of neutral news."
He was asked, "Could a show like the old Nightline exist today?"  "Apparently not" he responded.
CBS legendary anchorman, Dan Rather, has a movie in theaters presently titled Truth dealing with an episode in his past journalistic career. Let's face the fact that we are now living in a time prophesied in Isaiah 59:14, "So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, and honesty cannot enter."
Understanding How We Arrived Here
The Bible teaches us in 1 John 5:19 that Satan illegally controls this present world and rules this kingdom of darkness. For hundreds of years, our beloved nation enjoyed a blessed reprieve from many aspects of Satan's reign because of the prevailing influence of the gospel and our Judeo-Christian foundations.
In the past few decades America has drifted rapidly away from our heritage as a predominantly Christian nation. While millions of us authentic Christians do our best to be salt and light and serve as a bulwark against the flood tide of evil, we are unfortunately losing ground. We pray and fast and believe for another spiritual awakening that can turn the tide but the meltdown continues.
The "prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience" (Eph. 2:1-2), exerts real diabolical power through the airways. Since Jesus labeled Satan a "liar and the father of lies" (John 8:44), those who are not under the loving Lordship of Jesus Christ are being influenced to do his bidding. Therefore, lies and deception permeate our culture in alarming ways with political leaders and personnel in media advancing his diabolical schemes.
Liberal ideas and anti-biblical values are increasingly dominant in our society. Why? Those who carry strong influence in our culture are those in academia, Hollywood and the media (Taylor Swift alone has over 50 million followers on Instagram!) Studies prove that these three spheres of influence are dominated by liberals.
  • Voting records reveal those in the media are overwhelmingly liberal.
  • Research concerning those in newspapers and print media reveals almost 9000 donors identify as "liberal" while 1750 donors "conservative."
  • Over 80 percent of educators in our top colleges and universities identify themselves as liberals or progressives. This is what it means to be "cool" or "hip" as a modern-day, politically correct professor.
  • The vast overwhelming number of celebrities in Hollywood and pop culture are clearly not conservative Bible-believing Christians. It's considered a "kiss of death" to come out as a conservative Christian living for Jesus Christ in Hollywood (although we thank God for those few who do!).
The primary reason behind the explosion of conservative talk radio is people became increasingly frustrated and fed up with the liberal bias in the media and an alternative was found. Thirty years ago there were approximately 125 talk radio programs, almost all of them conservative-based. Currently there are over 2000 talk radio programs in America and the overwhelming majority are conservative in content.
Current Examples of Blatant Media Bias
Here's the deal: We cannot live in denial regarding the critical condition of American journalism today. Fairness and objectivity are basically gone. There is a pretense of journalism presented amidst the liberal monopoly on the media. The vast majority of the media today contorts, conceals and counterfeits the truth. Partisan politics rules the day and we have to be discerning while looking for alternatives that bring forth a measure of truth.
Besides the recent Republican debate, how many of us have lamented the fact that President Obama and Hillary Clinton seem to get a pass or positive spin from the media no matter what they do?
Watching the recent Senate hearings on Benghazi with Hillary Clinton left many people's heads spinning after reading news reports the next day. Actual evidence exposing lies, gross negligence and incompetence was twisted by the majority of the media to convey a triumphant performance by Mrs. Clinton!
Likewise, her recent debate performance was hailed as "brilliant!"
Imagine what would have happened if they'd asked her tough questions:
  • Mrs. Clinton you told your family and the Libyan president that this was a terrorist attack and yet you conveyed to everyone else that it was some type of spontaneous video protest. Four patriotic Americans lost their lives even as they begged repeatedly for help. Are you lying about this?
  • How about the Clinton foundation and your megamillion book advance and all the money you raked in, yet you told people you left the White House almost broke?
  • When you repeatedly speak of a "war on women," what about the multiple women with whom your husband was sexually immoral and you led the charge to destroy them and their reputations? How about the lives of unborn women and recent Planned Parenthood harvesting of their body parts?"
Ain't gonna' happen!
My favorite columnist, Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal said, "A generation ago, a person so encrusted in a reputation for scandal would not be considered a possible presidential contender. She would be ineligible ... Now she is inevitable!"
The other female running for president is conservative Carly Fiorina who basically gets a hit job in TIME Magazine. Next to a very unflattering picture is an article beginning with someone angrily yelling, "Stop spreading falsehoods!" two times. When referring to her expose' of Planned Parenthood, the article talks of regulars at her events carrying banners saying "CarLIE FIBorina!"
Additional quotes are: "She's not running on the truth" and "In the face of overwhelming evidence that her public statements are not accurate ..."
Fair and balanced, huh?
Where is the media coverage when Senator Harry Reid lied unashamedly stating that Mitt Romney didn't pay taxes for 10 years. Later he dismissed it nonchalantly as no big deal. Or how about last week when a CNN commentator, Sally Kohn, tried to push gun control by saying that "10,000 kids are killed by guns every year." The truth is that in 2014, 1,085 under 18 lost their lives (many were crime-related).
The mainstream media's meanness and manipulation has tried in the past to destroy the reputations of patriotic Americans like Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney and others.
Now it targets primarily the current crop of Republican contenders for the presidency. Did you read USA TODAY this past Saturday and its three-quarter page expose' of Republican candidates Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Chris Christie and others in a strained attempt to find something erroneous in what they supposedly said?
Why is it that so many people today are looking to "outsider" candidates like Donald Trump and Ben Carson?
I am persuaded that individuals are desperate for the truth and these individuals are viewed as giving it to us unvarnished and straight from the hip. Whether it's the economy or immigration or ISIS or whatever the issue, scores of Americans are sick and tired of political correctness and manipulation by politicians and the press.
May patriotic Americans in increasing numbers follow the bold action of Senator Ted Cruz in refusing manipulation and capitulation to the biased media in our generation. Thank God for those faithful, conservative talk show hosts; the men and women of integrity behind the editorial pages of the Wall Street Journal; and, many of the brave Fox news commentators living morally and heralding the truth.
Harvard University, founded in 1692 to train ministers to proclaim the truth of God's Word, had this motto on its original seal, "Truth for Christ and the Church." May God help us to reclaim this motto in our day as His ambassadors as we pray and work towards another spiritual awakening to transform our land.

Ben Carson Speaks Out on Putin's Islamic Ties

Ben Carson Speaks Out on Putin's Islamic Ties

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has been tied to controversial Middle East Muslim leaders since the time they attended school in Moscow, according to Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson.
Carson raised the little known historical fact during his guest appearance on CBN's The 700 Club Friday.
Carson said Putin shares a deep historical tie with Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas, suggesting he became acquainted with them during their college days in Moscow when Putin was a young KGB operative.
"He has longstanding relationships down there. Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority and Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, were both classmates in the class of 1968 at Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow where they became acquainted with a young Vladimir Putin. So these are deep ties," Carson said.
While Abbas' tenure as a Patrice Lumumba graduate student is well documented, Khamenei's school ties are not.
In a follow-up interview, Dr. Carson would not disclose his sources, but told CBN News he learned about the ties between the three leaders from advisers across the government, including the CIA.
He said the connection helps to explain what's currently happening around the world.
"That's what I call wisdom," Carson said. "You get these pieces of information. You talk to various people. You begin to have an overall picture. You begin to understand why people do what they do."
"And why it's so important for Putin to establish influence in that area now because you see what his economic situation is, and he sees that as the quickest way to improve his economic situation," he continued.
Carson added, "There's a lot more information that I've gotten that's probably not appropriate for revelation."
The GOP candidate's original on-air statement was made while offering analysis about Putin's game plan in Syria.
"Putin has expansionist ideas. The only thing that's stopping him right now is money," Carson said. "The price of oil has dropped tremendously which has hampered him severely. Now he's looking to extend his influence throughout the Middle East."
"I personally believe that he would very much like to get control of a lot of the energy resources in that area so that he can control pricing and bring himself back up where he wants to be," he added.
Carson contends that Putin's long ties with Abbas and Khamenei are key to understanding what the Russian leader is doing now in Syria. He said the United States needs to take a stand against Putin now.
"And you can see that Iran is supporting the Assad regime along with Putin and it has nothing to do with what Russia said they were coming in there to do, to fight ISIS," Carson said during his 700 Club appearance.
"Instead, who are they fighting? Al Nusra. Al Jalani. You know they obviously have a very different agenda here and we need to oppose them," Carson said.

Ben Carson Exposes Islamic ‘Taqiyya,’ But There’s Even More You Should Know

Ben Carson

Ben Carson Exposes Islamic ‘Taqiyya,’ But There’s Even More You Should Know

According to Carson, whoever becomes president should be “sworn in on a stack of Bibles, not a Koran”:
“I do not believe Sharia is consistent with the Constitution of this country,” Carson said, referencing the Islamic law derived from the Koran and traditions of Islam. “Muslims feel that their religion is very much a part of your public life and what you do as a public official, and that’s inconsistent with our principles and our Constitution.”
Carson said that the only exception he’d make would be if the Muslim running for office “publicly rejected all the tenants of Sharia and lived a life consistent with that.”
“Then I wouldn’t have any problem,” he said.
However, on several occasions Carson mentioned “Taqiyya,” a practice in the Shia Islam denomination in which a Muslim can mislead nonbelievers about the nature of their faith to avoid religious persecution.
“Taqiyya is a component of Shia that allows, and even encourages you to lie to achieve your goals,” Carson said.
Considering that the current U.S. president has expunged all reference to Islam in security documents and would have Americans believe that Islamic doctrine is more or less like Christianity, it is refreshing to see a presidential candidate referencing a little-known but critically important Muslim doctrine.
BIN-OpEd-Experts-300x250(1)
However, the widely cited notion that taqiyya is only a Shia doctrine needs to be corrected. This is false, and it lets the vast majority of the world’s Muslims, the Sunnis, off the hook.
According to Sami Mukaram, one of the world’s foremost authorities on taqiyya:
Taqiyya is of fundamental importance in Islam. Practically every Islamic sect agrees to it and practices it … We can go so far as to say that the practice of taqiyya is mainstream in Islam, and that those few sects not practicing it diverge from the mainstream … Taqiyya is very prevalent in Islamic politics, especially in the modern era.[i]
Taqiyya is often associated with the Shias because, as a minority group interspersed among their Sunni rivals, they have historically had more reason to dissemble. Today, however, Sunnis living in the West find themselves in the place of the Shia. Now they are the minority surrounded by their historic enemies — Western “infidels” — and so they too have plenty of occasion to employ taqiyya.
Making Muslims swear on Bibles would not be any defense against taqiyya. As long as their allegiance to Islam is secure in their hearts, taqiyya allows Muslims to behave like non-Muslims. Praying before Christian icons, wearing crosses, making the sign of the cross — anything short of actually killing a Muslim could be allowed. (In several instances, Muslims in the U.S. military exposed their true loyalties when they reached the point of having to fight fellow Muslims in foreign nations.[ii])
For those with a discerning eye, taqiyya is all around us. Muslim refugees have pretended to convert to Christianity (in the past and the present); an Islamic gunman gained entrance inside a church by feigning interest in Christian prayers. Examples abound on a daily basis.
Consider the following anecdote from Turkey. In order to get close enough to a Christian pastor to assassinate him, a group of Muslims — including three women — feigned interest in Christianity, attended his church for over a year, and even participated in baptism ceremonies. Said the pastor, Emre Karaali:
These people had infiltrated our church and collected information about me, my family and the church and were preparing an attack against us. … Two of them attended our church for over a year and they were like family.
If some Muslims are willing to go to such lengths to eliminate the already downtrodden Christian minorities in their midst, does anyone doubt that a taqiyya-practicing Muslim presidential candidate might have no reservations about swearing on a stack of Bibles?
Precedents for such treachery litter the whole of Islamic history, and begin with the Muslim prophet himself.
During the Battle of the Trench (627 AD), which pitted Muhammad and his followers against several non-Muslim tribes collectively known as “the Confederates,” a Confederate called Naim bin Masud went to the Muslim camp and converted to Islam. When Muhammad discovered the Confederates were unaware of Masud’s deflection to Islam, he counseled him to return and to try to get his tribesmen to abandon the siege. “For war is deceit,” Muhammad assured him.
Masud returned to the Confederates without their knowledge that he had switched sides, and began giving his former kin and allies bad advice. He also intentionally instigated quarrels between the various tribes until, thoroughly distrusting each other, they disbanded and lifted the siege, allowing an embryonic Islam to grow. (Here, a Muslim site extols this incident for being illustrative of how Muslims can subvert non-Muslims.)
If a Muslim were running for president of the U.S. in the hopes of ultimately subverting America to Islam, he could, in Carson’s words, easily be “sworn in on a stack of Bibles, not a Koran” and “publicly reject all the tenants of Sharia.” Indeed, he could claim to be a Christian and attend church every week.
It speaks well about Carson that he is aware of, and not hesitant to mention, taqiyya. But that doctrine’s full ramifications regarding how much deception it allows, and its practice by all Muslim denominations, not just the Shia, still needs greater awareness.
The chances of that happening are dim. Already “mainstream media” like the Washington Post have, incorrectly, taken Carson to task for “misunderstanding” taqiyya – that is, for daring to be critical of anything Islamic. These outlets could benefit from learning more about Islam and deception per the below links:
  • My expert testimony being used in a court case to refute “taqiyya about taqiyya.”
  • The even more elastic doctrine of tawriya, which allows Muslims to deceive fellow Muslims by lying “creatively.”
  • My 2008 essay “Islam’s Doctrines of Deception,” commissioned and published by Jane’s Islamic Affairs Analyst.
  • Recent examples of formerly good Muslim neighbors turning violent once they grow in strength and numbers.

"God Gave Me a Prophetic Dream That Changed Everything" - Ben Carson

"God Gave Me a Prophetic Dream That Changed Everything"
Ben Carson, West Friendship, Maryland
The Elijah List

"I really began to understand early in my life the incredible power of prayer and our connection to God, and what a difference it made throughout my entire medical career." – Dr. Ben Carson

(Washington, DC)—Dr. Ben Carson, retired pediatric neurosurgeon and recently announced Republican presidential candidate, gave a moving personal speech at the National Day of Prayer event in Washington, DC, May 7.

One key story he shared was of a prophetic dream that changed the course of his life while he was a pre-med student at Yale.

Failing his chemistry course, a prerequisite for medical school, he had one last opportunity to pull off a passing grade. But the night before his final exam, still not comprehending the material, he cried out to God for a prophetic move.

airlift"'Lord, medicine is the only thing I've ever wanted to do,'" Carson recounted his prayer at the breakfast. "'I thought that was what You wanted from me. And yet, it looks like I'm going to fail chemistry and I'm not going to go to medical school. (Photo via Charisma News)

"And I said, 'So would You please tell me what it is You really want me to do. Or, alternatively and preferably, work a miracle,'" he continued, eliciting chuckles from the audience.

After praying, Carson had picked up his Chemistry textbook, determined to learn the whole course overnight. But his efforts were futile, and he fell asleep.

His slumber, however, bore more fruit than his attempts at all-night cramming ever could. While he slept, God answered Carson's prayers with a prophetic dream.

"I was in this large auditorium," Carson described the dream. "Just me, and a nebulous figure working out chemistry problems." When he awoke early the next morning, the dream was fresh and vivid in his mind as he looked through his textbook.

"When I went to take the test the next morning, it was like The Twilight Zone," Carson said. "I opened that [test] book and I recognized the first problem; it was one of the ones I'd dreamed about. And the next, and the next, and the next."

"I aced the exam," he said to rousing applause.

"I really began to understand early in my life the incredible power of prayer and our connection to God, and what a difference it made throughout my entire medical career," Carson said at the end of the story.

What Did Ben Carson Pray for in Jerusalem?

What Did Ben Carson Pray for in Jerusalem?

JERUSALEM, Israel -- As the presidential race for 2016 gets closer, likely candidates start visiting key locations. In addition to Iowa and other states, there is also an important international stop.
This week, Dr. Ben Carson took the opportunity to visit America's closest ally in the Middle East. This was the retired neurosurgeon's first visit to the Holy Land.
"It's really a fact-finding mission. And you hear so many things and read so many things but until you can actually experience it yourself and see for yourself, you really don't have the proper perspective," Carson said.
To get that first-hand perspective, Carson paid a house call to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel's premiere hospital. He also met one of the victims of the recent Har Nof terror attack, in which four rabbis and a policeman were murdered.
"I looked at your scan and you're very fortunate to be alive," Carson told the patient.
During his fact-finding mission, Carson said Israelis told him they're concerned about relations between Israel and the United States.
"I don't think I've met any Israeli since I've been on this trip who didn't think that the relationship was in jeopardy," Carson said.
Carson used a schoolyard analogy to describe the current state of affairs between the two countries.
"It's sort of like your brother is going to school in a real tough neighborhood and you want to make sure he gets there safely and gets home safely, so you walk with him. And then suddenly you say; 'You're on your own. Call me if you have problems,'" Carson told CBN News in an interview. "That seems to be how our relationship has gone."
One criticism of a potential Carson candidacy could be his lack of foreign policy experience. But he says leadership requires wisdom.
"The book of Proverbs in the eleventh chapter, fourteenth verse, [says] 'In the multitude of counselors there is safety,'" he said.
Carson hasn't made any official announcements. He came to Israel with a non-political group called The Face of Israel (LINK). He added that the trip gave him food for thought.
"It will impact significantly as we consider what our future course of action will be," Carson said.
Like many dignitaries Carson visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City.
He placed a note in the wall and prayed.
