On the eve of Yom Kippur, “Putin in Ankara to forge alliance of Russia, Turkey & Iran.” Here’s why that’s interesting. - Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

Putin-Erdogan

On the eve of Yom Kippur, “Putin in Ankara to forge alliance of Russia, Turkey & Iran.” Here’s why that’s interesting.

by joelcrosenberg  Sept. 29, 2017
(Denver, Colorado) -- Readers of my novel, The Ezekiel Option, and non-fiction book, Epicenter, and this blog know how interested I am in the ancient prophecies of Ezekiel 38 and 39 and what is known by rabbis, pastors and Bible scholars as the "War of Gog and Magog."
The Hebrew prophet Ezekiel wrote some 2,500 years ago that in the "last days" of history, the Jewish people will be gathered back to the land of Israel from all the nations where they have been scattered and exiled, they will rebuild the State of Israel, and they will create a nation of ever-increasing security and prosperity.
At that time, Ezekiel indicates an evil dictator identified as "Gog" will rise up in Russia (known in Biblical times as "Magog") who will form an alliance with Iran (known in Biblical times as "Persia"), Turkey (known in Biblical times as "Gomer"), and several other Middle Eastern and North African countries. Together, this alliance will surround and then seek to attack and consume Israel and the Jewish people.
Skeptics of the Bible dismiss all talk of prophecy as uneducated, unsophisticated and downright ridiculous, despite the fact that over the last century we've been seeing one Bible prophecy after another come to pass:
  • Jews from all over the world have been streaming back to live in the Land of Israel (myself included)
  • Israelis have been rebuilding the ancient ruins and building a modern, flourishing, prosperous economy.
  • Israelis have been creating the strongest and most successful military in the entire Middle East, have forged an enduring alliance with the world's only superpower, and feel more secure today than ever in their modern existence.
So some of us find headlines like these particularly interesting:
Keep in mind that tensions between Russia and Turkey (a NATO member) have been running quite high in recent years.
So it's not exactly obvious that Putin and Turkish President Recep Erdogan would be meeting in the Turkish capital to forge an alliance together, much less with Iran.
Yet that's exactly what happened this week.

  • Putin’s visit to Ankara comes a few days prior to the scheduled visit of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s to Moscow on October 5-7, 2017. After patching up an acrimonious row between the countries over the downing of a Russian jetfighter in November 2015 over Syria, both leaders have pledged to restore their political and economic relations to pre-crisis levels....
  • Moscow called for a peace conference in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, which involved Turkey and Iran. The countries formed a diplomatic triad for setting up de-escalation zones in Syria in order to end the war and stop the division of the country. Russia chose Astana as a venue for the talks to send a message to the US that it should not get close to Russian borders through former republics of the Soviet Union....
  • Turkish leadership is seeking strategic relationship with Russia to replace the loss of its Western alliance. In other words, Ankara is effecting a shift toward a more “Eurasian-ist” orientation due to the proximity of the region, the overlapping of interests, common cultural values and language.
  • After winning the war in Syria, Russia is now seeking to ensure its peace – a mission no less difficult than going to war. Initially, Russia used Turkey as a key partner to make the Syrian opposition accept a truce and join peace talks for reaching a political settlement....
  • Russian-Turkish bilateral relations have several common traits: pragmatism, multi-faceted approach, commonalities, reliance on energy resources, geopolitical power, military performance, circumspection toward the West. All of this has fueled the Russian and Turkish pursuit to play a pivotal role at the Eurasian and Middle Eastern landscapes....
  • In 2014, Putin and Erdogan signed several agreements on bilateral trade with the two countries hoping that their annual trade volume would reach $100 billion by 2020. However, the most important achievement of the meeting was the agreement to expand cooperation in natural gas trade. Russia aimed through these agreements to also increase its gas exports to Turkey by more than 3 billion cubic meters because of the latter’s increasing need for energy.
  • Turkey imports 93 percent of its energy needs, 97 percent of which is natural gas. Ankara buy 60 percent of its gas from Russia, which makes it the second largest importer of Russian natural gas after Germany. The value of Turkish exports to Russia does not exceed $6 billion....
  • The recent military rapprochement between Ankara and Moscow with the S-400 deal has upset NATO officials because the Russian system, an anti-air defense system, is incompatible with NATO’s. With this deal, Russia will be the third biggest arms exporter to Turkey after Germany and the US.
  • Erdogan, who plans to visit Iran in October to bolster military cooperation, will also be discussing the repercussions of any independent Kurdish state that might inflame separatist tensions in Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria....
To be clear, I'm not saying that as Yom Kippur begins this year, Israel faces an imminent threat of attack from Russia, Turkey or Iran. Nor am I saying that this week's meeting between Putin and Erdogan necessarily fulfills Biblical prophecy. It's simply too early to say whether the alliances that are forming between have Biblical significance. Likewise, it's also too early to say that Putin is Gog, though he certainly seems "Gog-esque." We simply don't have enough information, so we should not be quick to draw conclusions.
That said, even skeptics of the Bible should find recent events not only troubling geopolitically, but also curiously consistent with the words of the ancient Hebrew prophet Ezekiel. I certainly do.

Another Chicken Little? - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Another Chicken Little?

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

"There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves..." (Luke 21:25, NAS)

Back in the day, and maybe even today, there was a cute children's story we learned as little kids. You may remember it. Chicken Little (*Henny Penny, 1823)

If my memory banks serve me right, Chicken Little went around saying the sky was falling. Wherever he went, he told people, "The sky is falling." He was wanting them to be ready, but when it didn't fall, he became the laughing stock.

All around us in these days, particularly in Christian circles, there are many declaring that the sky is falling, and we better be prepared for the times we are living in. Some laugh and call them crazy; others would fault them for being over spiritual, for after all, these aren't the only times "the sky has been falling."

You know, I for one believe them. I am taking heed to the ones who are saying to look up, to get ready, for these are the times when the signs in the heavens are telling us the sky is falling. Maybe not literally, but maybe so.

Men of integrity and prophetic insight, such as Jim Bakker, Jonathan Cahn, Jesus, Mark Biltz, Perry Stone, Michael Snyder and rick Wiles, to name a few, aren't to be scoffed at. The Lord has given them a word of warning, and we are the foolish ones if we think they are nuts. Again, I for one am eating those words they speak forth. Based on their past history in prophetic understanding, I suggest you might too. (That is why I regularly post their messages on our Love For His People website.)

Personally, I get the weird look from the other's eye when I tell people I have food stored up in my closet. (After all, North Carolina has had hurricanes before.)

"You lack faith if you do that," was one comment many people will profess. Oh really?

Did Noah lack faith when he was told by Someone not seen to build a big, big boat in the middle of a dry, dry desert, for a worldwide flooding rain storm that he didn't even know would really come? But he did. And it did. 120 years later - after he was first told.  It took him between 55-75 years to actually accomplish the immense task, trusting and obeying all along the way. (You have to keep doing it, from start to finish!) But he did obey in faith, and thus he was ready.

Did Joseph lack faith when the Lord God of the Hebrews (Israel) told him how to prepare for the coming seven years? Where did Jesus keep His bank account, other than in Judas's back pocket, whom He knew would do what he would actually do with the money. Yeshua wasn't putting His trust in that back pocket, nor did He have a 401(k) to live off when He retired.

"We must save for the rainy day?" Where in the Bible does it say to do that? Not in my Bible - the Complete Jewish Bible, New American Standard, New King James, The Tree of Life, and others I read and quote from daily. That is truly a European/American financial concept, because people quit believing in the Lord of All, Jehovah Jireh as their provider, and thus had (have) to trust in their money.

What happens when the money is not there the day you are going to need it? Then whose god are you going to trust in? Wall Street's, or the friendly banker supposedly holding your cash in their vaults? It won't be there anymore when you really want it.

Ever try getting a few thousand in cash out of your bank account today, if you have that much? The majority of people don't even have a few hundred to draw on. The worldwide financial system is making it more difficult every day to handle your own money. They really don't want you to have it, as they make their wealth off of you. This I know, for the bank tells me so. I work in accounting/finance.

Chicken Little may have a good point if the story was to be rewritten today. The sky may not be literally falling, but the sun, the moon, the stars - put in place at the very beginning of creation, literally, by the Creator Himself, are there for a purpose other than just light. God the Father, and His Only Son Jesus Christ, gave them to us, to speak to us, so that we would not be unaware of the times and the seasons.

"Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; 15and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. 17God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.19There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day." Genesis 1:14-19

"He himself existed before anything else did, and he holds all things together." Colossians 1:17

"Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am." John 8:58

"I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, blood, fire and columns of smoke." Joel 2:30.

Today may not be the day the Lord Jesus returns in glory and power, as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, but it might be. It certainly is closer today than when He left the first time, promising to return. Among all the prophets of the Jews (who through the Holy Spirit, Ruach HaKodesh) gave us the full Bible, Yeshua was among the chief prophets.

Yeshua (Jesus) said He would be crucified, die, and would rise on the third day. It happened. He did. Just as He said it would.

And that which He prophesied about the End of Days, the times which I firmly believe began moving forward in the fast lane, is ticking majorly on. That historically and spiritual eternal timepiece started the fast track in 1948, when the Jews got their Promised Land back and Israel became a nation again. The fig tree burst forth and is growing rapidly. Have you considered the reality of Israel lately, and the ingathering of the Jewish people? I highly suggest you do.

You have the choice to believe or not what the Lord is clearly displaying in the heavens. How you act upon it is your choice.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

*Wikipedia: Chicken Little The story is listed as Aarne-Thompson-Uther type 20C, which includes international examples of folktales that make light of paranoia and mass hysteria.[2] There are several Western versions of the story, of which the best-known concerns a chick that believes the sky is falling when an acorn falls on its head. The chick decides to tell the King and on its journey meets other animals (mostly other fowl) which join it in the quest. After this point, there are many endings. In the most familiar, a fox invites them to its lair and there eats them all. Alternatively, the last one, usually Cocky Lockey, survives long enough to warn the chick, who escapes. In others all are rescued and finally speak to the King.
In most retellings, the animals have rhyming names, commonly Chicken Licken or Chicken Little, Henny Penny or Hen-Len, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky or Ducky Daddles, Drakey Lakey, Goosey Loosey or Goosey Poosey, Gander Lander, Turkey Lurkey and Foxy Loxy or Foxy Woxy.
The moral to be drawn changes, depending on the version. Where there is a "happy ending", the moral is not to be a "Chicken" but to have courage. In other versions where the birds are eaten by the fox, the fable is interpreted as a warning not to believe everything one is told.
In the United States, the most common name for the story is "Chicken Little", as attested by illustrated books for children dating from the early 19th century. In Britain and its other former colonies, it is best known as "Henny Penny" and "Chicken Licken", titles by which it also went in the United States.

Today's Headlines Signal Convergence with 'End of Days' Scenario, Rabbi Says

You only have to look at today's headlines to see that history is speeding up and the world is moving closer to an end of days scenario, a popular Israeli rabbi said.
In anticipation of the upcoming solar eclipse on Aug. 21 and the alignment of stars and planets in September, CBN News asked historian and Rabbi Ken Spiro what Judaism has to say about the relation of celestial events to prophecy and the coming of the Messiah.
"We're only a few headlines away from direct convergence of that biblical 'end of days' scenario with the headlines in the news today," Spiro told CBN News. But the question is not so much about what's happening in the sky as what's happening on the ground.
"God is always speaking to us," Spiro said. "It's a fundamental belief in Judaism that everything that happens in the world is for a meaning and there's a message hidden in there somewhere, even in the astronomical phenomenon."
Correlation between Heavens and Earth
But according to Spiro, the question is always how to interpret "astronomical phenomenon" in light of history.
"The question would be to see whether there is a correlation between something happening up in the heavens and then we see something actually happening down on earth," he explained.
"It's not a big phenomenon in Judaism to look at things like eclipses, solar or lunar, comets and try to directly relate them to specifically here is happening here on the planet Earth, but again, God controls everything and if something like that is happening, a major astronomical event, there is definitely some meaning," he said.
According to Spiro, there are classic examples in the Bible of God's signs in the heavens, like the sun and moon standing still for Joshua in the Givon and Ayalon Valleys.
'God Can Suspend Laws of Nature'
Most of the time, he said, God works within the laws of nature that he already established. That means "most of what we call miraculous phenomenon are natural phenomenon with really good timing," he said. "But there are situations absolutely where God can suspend the laws of nature," like the darkness that covered the earth during the plagues in Egypt just before the Exodus.
And there is the end of days prophecy in the Book of Joel that says the moon will be turned to blood and the sun to darkness at the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord.
"Now, that could be interpreted as eclipses by the way. You know, the moon turning to blood is called the blood moon actually, which is what happens in a lunar eclipse and when the moon—when you have a solar eclipse, the sun disappears and turns to blackness. So there in the prophets it's talking about signs we see at the end of days. Whether that is what it's meant to be interpreted as remains a big question," he said.
As for the "buzz" among some Christians in the U.S. about the upcoming celestial events, Spiro said it's not generating the same enthusiasm in the Jewish world for two reasons.
Exercising Caution
The first reason is because there's been so much "Messianic expectation in Jewish history" in the past that "Jews are very wary about reading into specific people, specific events or specific astronomical phenomena that this it. Because then when it doesn't happen it's a big letdown."
The other reason is that there are so many prophecies being fulfilled that the Jewish people are focusing on that rather than heavenly signs, he said. He likened the coming of the Messiah to birth pangs and the contractions getting closer and closer together before a woman gives birth.
"So, too, events on the planet Earth will get more and more intense and happen much more rapidly and certainly I would say things are speeding up very dramatically in the world, the change that is taking place, the political upheaval, the technological advances, as to whether that is linked to astronomical events that are coming, we'll only know [when it happens]," Spiro said.
"We could be hitting that end of days scenario," he continued. "Certainly time is definitely running out and as we see by what's going on in the world, in a positive and a negative way—I mean the rebirth of the state of Israel, the reunification of Jerusalem. We just celebrated the 50th anniversary of that. I mean that's unbelievable, that's prophecy coming true before our eyes. The nations of the world lining up against Israel, largely, what you see going on in UNESCO, the United Nations is clearly a sign," he said.

John Hagee Says End-Times 'Fuse Is Lit, Every Prophetic Player Is on Stage' - CBN NEWS CHARISMA NEWS

John Hagee Says End-Times 'Fuse Is Lit, Every Prophetic Player Is on Stage'

Standing With Israel
Over 5,000 Christians traveled to Washington, D.C., July 17-18 for the 12th annual Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Summit.
As part of the summit, attendees lobbied congressmen and senators for a day on Capitol Hill to stand with Israel. At the top of the list of legislation they'd like to see passed is the Taylor Force Act, which calls for a halt of all U.S. taxpayer funding of the Palestinian Authority until they stop rewarding people for being terrorists.
"The United States of America has been giving money to the Palestinians; the Palestinians have been using that money to pay bonuses to terrorists who kill Jews, and we are saying to our government, 'shut that money off,'" Pastor John Hagee, founder of CUFI, told CBN News. "America should not be paying for the murder of Jewish people."
Hagee Praises Trump's Pro-Israel Stance
That Monday night, July 17, Pastor Hagee introduced Vice President Mike Pence to deliver the summit's keynote address. Hagee says he's pleased with this administration's commitment to supporting Israel.
"This administration's position towards Israel is probably the most aggressive, pro-Israel administration in my lifetime," said Hagee. "I assure you it's a million miles in front of the former administration."
Pastor Hagee thinks, at some point during President Donald Trump's presidency, the U.S. Embassy in Israel will move to Jerusalem.
"I'm very confident that President Trump will move the embassy. He has promised that he would get us a conservative Supreme Court justice; he has done that," Hagee told CBN News.
"He has promised that he will rebuild the U.S. military; he is doing that," he continued. "In spite of the Russian witch-hunt and the obstinate Democrats, he's doing his very, very best to fulfill his promises. And I know that he will, in his own time, move that embassy."
Hagee Weighs in on the "End of Days"
Hagee made national headlines a few years ago with his studies and observations on the series of four blood moons that appeared in the sky and all coincided with Jewish feast days. Hagee says these were prophesied in the Bible and are a sign that God is about to move on the world stage.
"The four blood moons, as soon as the fourth blood moon appeared, you will follow the press followings that Russia moved out of Russia into the Middle East," Hagee noted. "They moved their military forces into the Middle East. The 38th chapter of the book of Ezekiel says that when the king of the north moves out of the north, I will bring you out of the north. Then we are getting ready to watch the genesis of the Gog-Magog War."
"So the very specific thing that happened as soon as those blood moons ended was that Russia moved out to the Middle East, and Russia is not going to leave the Middle East," Hagee warned. "They're going to join with Iran to build ... a massive army that will, in time, try to perform a land invasion of the state of Israel."
He says the upcoming, rare solar eclipse on Aug. 21 is not quite as dramatic as the four blood moons but is an example of one of the many signs and wonders we'll see in the sky in the end of days that have never happened before.
"The Bible says in the end of days you will see signs and wonders in the sky, and there are several signs and wonders that are happening in the sky that have never happened before," Hagee told CBN News.
"They are not quite as dramatic as the four blood moons because the four blood moons were predicted by Joel," he said. "They were prophesied and confirmed by Jesus. They were confirmed by NASA; they were given dates—the dates of those events were Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles."
"God established those dates thousands of years ago. Only God can make a blood moon happen because the sun shines through the Earth's atmosphere to make the moon come to a reddish glow," he continued.
"Only God can get those aligned to do that, and He did it four times in a row on those specific dates. It is so phenomenally packed with truth that even the atheists had to admit that it was unusual," said Hagee.
"The World, as We Have It, Is a Powder Keg"
And he's drawing other connections between biblical prophecies and current events around the world right now.
"The world, as we have it at this very present time, is a powder keg, and the fuse is lit," he warned. "Every player is on the stage, for the first time in history, that fulfills all of the prophesies of Daniel, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Isaiah; they're all there. We're just waiting for the next domino to fall, and when it does, watch out! It's not going to stop."
