"The City of David" ✡ Amazing Discoveries in the City of David in Jerusalem - ISRAEL365

Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion;
the same is the City of David

Today's Israel Inspiration

King David's palace was amazingly discovered in the City of David, just outside the present walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. After years of archaeological excavations, an ancient Canaanite fortress was uncovered at this site as well. As today's verse describes, when King David entered the city he conquered the "stronghold of Zion" from the pagan Jebusites, quite possibly this very fortress discovered thousands of years later! By wearing a piece of jewelry from the City of David, you carry the ancient biblical world with you, each gorgeous replica copying archaeological findings to the most minute detail.

Where the Bible Comes
to Life

The City of David, located south of the Temple Mount, is rich with archeological treasures that map out the stories of the Bible and the Jewish kings.

World's Oldest Man, 112, Survived Auschwitz and Lives in Israel

When God set down His ideal age limit in the Bible at 120 (Gen. 6:3), he may have had this man in mind: Holocaust survivor Yisrael Kristal of Haifa has been recognized as the oldest man alive today by the Guinness Book of World Records.

'The Joshua and Caleb Report' DVD Sets

In this 4-DVD set, representing the first and second seasons of the series, Joshua and Caleb Waller travel Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria to listen to the stories of those who live in the place that the world chooses to call the “West Bank.” You will meet the real faces of people that live in the heartland of Israel.  Choose either season for a 2 DVD set or get both sets for a total of 4 DVD's.

Today's Israel Photo

Igor Farberov's photo of Jerusalem's Old City walls. The walls and gates were built in the early 16th c. by the Turkish Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, who mistakenly excluded an important site. The City of David and David's Palace were later discovered close to, but not within, the Sultan's walls.

Yesterday's Photo Trivia

Yesterday's photo featured a roaring Sa'ars Fall in the Golan Heights of Northern Israel. The waterfalls are best visited in the winter or spring when the water and snow from Mount Hermon are still making their descent to the Sea of Galilee.

World's Oldest Man, 112, Survived Auschwitz and Lives in Israel By Ahuva Balofsky - BREAKING ISRAEL NEWS

(Photo: Haaretz)

World's Oldest Man, 112, Survived Auschwitz and Lives in Israel

“And the LORD said: ‘My spirit shall not abide in man for ever, for that he also is flesh; therefore shall his days be a hundred and twenty years.’” Genesis 6:3 (The Israel Bible™)
When God set down His ideal age limit in the Bible at 120, he may have had this man in mind: Holocaust survivor Yisrael Kristal of Haifa has been recognized as the oldest man alive today by the Guinness Book of World Records, reported Ynet.
Kristal, 112, was born in Poland in 1903. He was a married father of two when the Holocaust began. His children succumbed to illness in the Lodz Ghetto and his wife perished during a death march to Auschwitz, but Kristal survived making chocolates and other sweets for the Nazis.
Following the war, Kristal met Bat-Sheva, another survivor whose family had perished, and the two married, moving to Israel in 1950. They had three children, one of whom died in infancy.
Today, Kristal is a grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of many more.
According to the paper, Kristal received Guinness’s recognition with restraint. His daughter, Shulamit Kuperstoch, noted this is in keeping with his character.

“He’s a man who knows what it means to be on top and what it means to barely exist,” she explained. “For a man who lost his entire family in the Holocaust, his proportions are different.”
Kristal attributes his longevity to God.
“My father is a religious man who observes the commandments and prays every morning,” said Kuperstoch. “In my opinion, what has kept him going all these years is optimism. When something bad happens, he always says, ‘It could have been worse.’”
Kristal celebrates his 113th birthday in September. He attained the distinction of being the oldest man alive when a Japanese supercentenarian of the same age passed away earlier this year. Kristal’s family spent the past two months gathering documentation to prove their father’s claim.
Should he reach 116, Kristal will earn the record for oldest man in modern recorded history. The Bible identifies Methuselah, at 969, as the oldest individual to ever have lived (Genesis 5:27).

Jews and Arabs Celebrate Tasty Coexistence - Israel Today

Jews and Arabs Celebrate Tasty Coexistence

Friday, February 26, 2016 |  Israel Today Staff
Recently 25 Jewish and Arab chefs from all over Israel gathered for a celebration of Arabic delicacies.
The A-Sham (“Levant” in Arabic) food festival was held for the first time this past December. It was timed to coincide with Haifa’s annual Holiday of Holidays, a festival that brings together elements of Hanukkah, Christmas and Id al-Adha in a demonstration of the northern port city’s multiculturalism.
A-Sham is the brainchild of Arab Israeli chef Nof Atamna-Ismaeel, winner of the 2014 Israeli MasterChef competition.

Israel Destination: Haifa ✡ "All of Israel to Mount Carrmel" - ISRAEL365

And now, send and gather for me all of Israel to
Mount Carmel.

Today's Israel Inspiration

We love to learn and share the biblical significance of the modern day cities of Israel. Haifa is not just the largest and most important northern city of Israel, with a glorious setting on the slopes of Mount Carmel, surrounded by sea. The Book of Kings describes the prophet Elijah ascending Mount Carmel to challenge the pagan gods. It was here that Elijah successfully discredited them and thus returned the hearts of the people to the Almighty. Haifa’s name hints to its magical setting, stemming from the words “hof” (beach) and “yaffa” (beautiful). See more of the Land with our beautiful Photography of Israel Calendar for 2016. Includes 12 frameable photographs, along with Shabbat candle lighting times and a Prayer for the Soldiers.

Great Tour of Haifa

Along with its natural beauty of sea and mountain, Haifa is also rich in diversity and peaceful co-existence among all three major world religions. Check it out in this fascinating tour video.

You Can Now Drink the Wine that King David Drank

The story begins with a groundbreaking project out of Ariel University in the Samaria region of Israel, which aims to to identify – and potentially recreate – the wines mentioned in the Bible.

"Blessing for the Home" in Hebrew with English Translation

The Blessing for the Home, known in Hebrew as “Birkat Habayit” is a common feature displayed in Jewish homes across the world. The prayer often adorns the entrance of a home and requests that God grant peace to the dwelling. This piece includes both the Hebrew and English version of the prayer, with the English phrases placed directly below the Hebrew ones in a user friendly manner.

A Star Shall Come Forth From Jacob - Richard and Carolyn Hyde from Heart of G-d Ministries in Israel

"I see him but not now; I behold him but not near; a star shall come forth from Jacob, a scepter shall arise from Israel and crush the head of Moab and tear down all the sons of Seth."  Numbers 24:17
School ministry Munich

"What should I do?  I'm a Muslim"

After a fruitful time of ministry in public schools in Germany, several students asked this question.  So we told them to look to the founder of each religion.

"What did Mohammed do?  He stealed, killed, and destroyed.  And what did Yeshua do?  He healed the sick, delivered the possessed, had showed compassion to the poor and lost, etc.  So who do you want to follow?  No one can force you to believe; it's your choice."
The students replied, "We will follow Yeshua!"
Planetary conjunctionOn October 27th at 3 AM Carolyn and I were travelling south from Haifa to the Ben Gurion Airport.  When we started to head east we beheld a site that almost took our breath away.  In the eastern sky were three bright lights on the horizon.  Two of them looked like they were joined together with one being much brighter than the other.  My first thought was that it was man-made - perhaps drones.  But they were too big and bright to be drones - and they weren't moving.  They were stationary and appeared to be hovering over Judea, near Jerusalem or Bethlehem.
We checked the internet and found an article from a Jewish site, The Times of Israel with this headline:
As planets align, some see return of Jesus' Star of Bethlehem
The rare convergence of Venus, Jupiter and Mars this week has some wondering if it's time to cue the Magi
Could this be a similar phenomenon to what the Magi had seen in the sky which led them to Bethlehem 2,000 years ago?  I later found out that there were four planets; Jupiter, Venus, Mars and Mercury in the sky along with Regulus, the king star. If that wasn't enough, on that same night in the western sky, we saw the first full moon after the fourth blood red moon of the tetrad.  This amazing planet/star configuration was in the eastern sky while the full moon was shining in all its glory in the western sky.  Truly awesome!
This is a simulation of what we saw:
I discovered that in the year 2 BC this extremely rare planet/star configuration could be found in the skies over Israel.  G-d announced the coming of His son the first time with a special sign in the sky.  The second time, when Yeshua returns, G-d will announce His return with signs in the sky.  Could it be the same sign that we were privileged to see?

When we arrived in Munich Germany we were invited to the leadership meeting of The Gathering, a meeting at the Olympic stadium where thousands of German believers were gathering.   During a special meeting a Persian man declared that a group of 40 Iranians were sojourning to Israel.  They would be bringing precious gifts to Israel just as their ancestors, the Magi, did over 2000 years ago.  When we heard this we almost fell off our seats.  Carolyn looked at me and said, "Do you know what the L-rd told me to put in my purse before we left Israel - a bottle of Frankincense? I've never done anything like that before."  When we shared with the Iranian believers they were overwhelmed and gratefully accepted our offer to anoint them with the frankincense.
Do you remember the promise the Magi made to Herod as they were leaving him on their way to Bethlehem?  They said they would report what they had found, but they were later warned by G-d in a dream to go home another way.  2,000 years later that promise is being fulfilled.  Their descendants have returned and they are reporting what they have seen - that Yeshua is the Messiah, the King of Israel!  As they travel through Zion they're telling Jewish Israelis that they used to shout "Death to Israel", but after finding Yeshua, they now love and pray for her.  Outstanding!
Upcoming Journey
We look forward to a ministry journey in Texas and Louisiana from Nov. 11-29.  If you'd like to join us at any of these meetings, please check our website schedule for dates and times.  Shalom y'all!

We write L-rd and G-d in this way because it's a Jewish custom that Carolyn grew up with and it's done only out of reverence and honor for the name of the L-rd.  Thanks for understanding.
