'Hillsong: Let Hope Rise' Shows Revelation 7:9 in Action - JESSILYN JUSTICE CHARISMA NEWS

'Hillsong: Let Hope Rise' Shows Revelation 7:9 in Action

JESSILYN JUSTICE  CHARISMA NEWS

Goosebumps prickled my skin as I immediately recognized the presence of the Holy Spirit in my home. What surprised me, though, was how He entered: through my computer screen.

Hillsong: Let Hope Rise is the first successful attempt I've seen to tell the story behind people and the answer is genuinely God.
Due out Sept. 16, Hillsong: Let Hope Rise follows the members of Hillsong United, the band birthed from the Australian megachurch. The documentary shows the ins and outs of the lives of traveling musicians, but they aren't rock stars; they're missionaries.
I heard of their music much earlier than I learned of Brian Houston and his church, which proves their vision statement of "Our city and beyond" has come to fruition.
"We're the biggest band you've never heard of," one of the members joked. And he's right.
Admittedly, tears uncontrollably streamed down my face as I heard "Mighty to Save," a song I've known since high school, sung in different languages. This, I thought, really is the next great move of God.
The Holy Spirit is evident as these men and women write songs, record music, spend time with their families and move about town. He fuels their callings, even those who don't travel. What's more, He can be felt by anyone so much as watching the documentary. I was alone in my home and keenly aware He was there.
"We're best when we're broken," vocalist Joel Houston says at one point in Let Hope Rise. And he's right, as Jesus is close to the broken-hearted, and when we are weak, He is made strong, which is the ultimate goal of praise.
Let Hope Rise proves worship is a unifying experience among believers. Hillsong United's lyrics allow Christians to place their own hearts within the songs and cry out to God in a way that feels personal. The documentary shows that this is not a perfected formula, but the heartbeat of the band.
The band mirrors Jesus to a point of conviction for the viewer, and the film could be the push we need to really focus on Christ as we seek to advance the kingdom.

The 24-hour network—with a planned distribution footprint including broadcast, cable and nearly a dozen satellites around the world—will combine the best in cutting-edge worship from the most gifted singers, songwriters and musicians, with dynamic ministry from internationally acclaimed pastors and teachers.
TBN Chairman Matthew Crouch noted that each week tens of millions of individuals in churches around the world praise God to the impacting music of Hillsong Worship. "We are excited and honored to welcome the Hillsong Channel as the newest member of the Trinity Broadcasting Family of Networks," he said. "This powerful new praise and worship network will offer an amazing opportunity for us to reach a whole new generation of viewers with the message of hope and grace as we partner with the most iconic and far-reaching presence in contemporary Christian music."
Viewers of the Hillsong Channel will have 24-7 front-row access to all the best from Hillsong's popular international conferences, along with dynamic worship from gifted groups, singers and songwriters such as Hillsong United, Young and Free, Reuben Morgan, Joel Houston and many others. There will also be plenty of life-changing teaching from internationally acclaimed Christian leaders like Hillsong Senior Pastor Brian Houston and his wife, Bobbi Houston, whose "Sisterhood" outreach is inspiring and equipping a generation of women to walk in their God-ordained destiny.
Over the past several years, Hillsong Church has expanded dramatically from its flagship location in Sydney, Australia, to an increasing number of vibrant congregations in such key cities as London, Paris, Stockholm, Cape Town, Buenos Aires, New York, Phoenix and Los Angeles—making Hillsong's worship and ministry truly international in flavor and perspective.
Pastor Brian Houston said that with the launch of the Hillsong Channel, millions of viewers around the world will have access to the life-transforming worship and ministry that are the recognized hallmark of Hillsong Church. "This new aspect of the Hillsong global vision is unlike anything we have launched up to this point," he said. "It'll be a continuous, 24-7 feed that will be exalting Jesus and empowering people for every part of life."
Matthew Crouch said that additional information will become available in the weeks ahead of the network's planned June 15 official launch. "We're encouraging everyone to stay tuned as we prepare to introduce what we believe is one of the most exciting positive broadcast additions to come along in recent history," he said. "We think it's going to help broaden the scope and outreach of faith-and-family television worldwide."

Over 20,000 students attend Passion 2014 Conference in Atlanta on Friday, January 17, 2014. This is the first of Passion’s two large-scale gatherings this year in North America for 18-25 year olds.

The Passion 2014 Atlanta Conference kicked off at Philips Arena in Atlanta Friday with over 20,000 university students attending the two-day event from around the world.

Students from over 1,200 universities and 33 countries attended this year's Passion conference in Atlanta. This is the first of Passion's two large-scale gatherings this year in North America for 18-25 year olds. Passion 2014 Houston will be held on February 14-15 at the Toyota Center.

Passion 2014 brings together several internationally renowned pastors, teachers and worship leaders. Joining Passion founders Louie and Shelley Giglio in Atlanta will be John Piper, Christine Caine, and Francis Chan. Grammy award winning artists and worship leaders Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman, are slated to lead worship, along with David Crowder, Kristian Stanfill, Christy Nockels and Hillsong United.

Even with so many well-known speakers and musicians participating, organizers insist that Passion is more than simply a conference or an event. Rather, it is a call for "saying goodbye to lesser things and saying yes to the One whose name is above every name," a theme that is stated on the Passion website and often echoed by the speakers.

Louie Giglio, founder of the Passion movement and pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta, speaks on day one of the two-day Passion Conference in Atlanta on Friday, January 17, 2014.

"Passion is about the Jesus Generation uniting for His fame," said Louie Giglio, founder of the Passion movement and pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta. "At the heart of it all, Passion exists to see a generation stake their lives on what matters most. For us, that is the fame of the One who rescues and restores, and the privilege we have to fully leverage our lives by amplifying His name in everything we do."

Passion's core scripture, Isaiah 26:8, states: "Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts."

Passion Conferences has been uniting college students around the world for the past 16 years, hosting 48 events in 16 countries. Since the first Passion Conference was held in 1997 in Austin, Texas, with 2,000 people, the movement has grown exponentially and hosted millions of university students at large-scale gatherings across the U.S. and around the world through nine conferences, four world tours and multiple one-day and regional events.

In 2008, the organization embarked on their first Passion World Tour traveling to 17 cities worldwide on six continents, kicking off in Kiev and ending in Sydney. The most recent world tour in 2012 consisted of five cities: Vancouver, Pretoria, Kampala, Durban, and Cape Town. In 2014, Passion will tour internationally and hold gatherings in Dubai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Singapore, Manila, and Honolulu between March 20 and April 1.

Last January's gathering, Passion 2013, was its largest to date drawing over 60,000 university students and leaders from 50 states and 56 countries to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. The Passion 2013 conference garnered national attention as attendees gave over $3 million to help fund the freedom fight for the estimated 27 million human slaves currently in captivity.

The gathering served as a pivotal point in the "End It Movement," which aimed to "Shine a Light on Slavery" by raising awareness of human trafficking, forced labor, and child labor, and supporting initiatives and organizations working to rescue and restore those enslaved around the world.

"We believe that worship and justice are two sides of the same coin," said Bryson Vogeltanz, pastor of Global Engagement at Passion City Church. "When Jesus followers gather together, there should be a tangible response. Together, we are a force for good."

All Passion 2014 attendees in Atlanta were urged to bring towels and socks to donate, which will be collected throughout the conference and given to Atlanta-area homeless shelters.
