Secret Word Patterns in the Bible ✡ "Before the Eyes of All Israel"

The Lord spoke these words to your entire assembly at the mountain out of the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the opaque darkness, with a great voice.

DEUTERONOMY (5:19)

אֶת הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה דִּבֶּר יְ-הֹוָה אֶל כָּל קְהַלְכֶם בָּהָר מִתּוֹךְ הָאֵשׁ הֶעָנָן וְהָעֲרָפֶל קוֹל גָּדוֹל

דברים ה:יט

et ha-d'-va-reem ha-ay-le di-ber a-do-nai el kol k'-hal-khem ba-har mi-tokh ha-aysh he-a-nan v'-ha-a-ra-fel kol ga-dol

Today's Israel Inspiration

The Torah is infused with word patterns which reveal incredible hidden connections between the Bible stories. Ready for a cool example? The word "voice" (קול) appears seven times in the story of Rebecca, Isaac, Jacob and Esau, and seven times in the narrative of the revelation at Sinai in Deuteronomy. Rebecca used a similar style of language to command Jacob to hearken to her voice as Moses used to command the children of Israel to hearken to the voice of God. Can you guess the connection between choosing Jacob over Esau, and the giving of the Torah at Sinai? Find out in a book that will literally astound you with awesome word patterns throughout the Torah, proving that the Torah is a Divine work which no man could have created.

Masada Like You've Never Seen ✡ "My Kindness and My Fortress"

My kindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield in Whom I take refuge

PSALMS (144:2)

חַסְדִּי וּמְצוּדָתִי מִשְׂגַּבִּי וּמְפַלְטִי לִי מָגִנִּי וּבוֹ חָסִיתִי

תהילים קמד:ב

khas-dee u-m'-tzu-da-tee mis-ga-bee u-m'-fal-tee lee ma-gi-nee u-vo kha-see-tee

Today's Israel Inspiration

Here's why Masada is Israel's #1 tourist destination after Jerusalem. Along with its sheer height and incredible ancient ruins, the story of the Jewish zealots who withstood a three-year siege by the Romans has become a symbol of heroic resistance. In their last days, a man named Eleazar Ben Yair made this final speech: "My loyal followers, long ago we resolved to serve neither the Romans nor anyone else but only God, who alone is the true and righteous Lord of men." Thereafter, the zealots took their own lives to avoid capture, save for two women and their few children in hiding. Masada stands symbolically for 'never again shall we fall,' and in Hebrew, "Masada" מצדה comes from the word in our verse meaning "fortress."

"From the Narrow Confines" ✡ Western Wall Tunnels

From the narrow confines I called out to God, the Lord answered me with abounding relief.

PSALMS (118:5)

מִן הַמֵּצַר קָרָאתִי יָּהּ עָנָּנִי בַמֶרְחַב יָ-הּ

תהילים קי''ח:ה

min ha-may-tzar ka-ra-tee ya a-na-nee ba-mer-khav ya

Jerusalem Inspiration

Psalm 118 is said towards the end of the Seder and uses a key Passover word, ‘confines.’ The Hebrew word for ‘confines’ מ-צ-ר is closely related to the word for Egypt מצרים - mitz-ra-yeem. On an emotional level, Egypt symbolizes the agonizing straits that constrict us. Each of us occasionally finds ourselves trapped, sometimes for physical reasons, such as poverty or illness and sometimes for psychological reasons, such as depression or despair. Passover is the festival of hope and faith, teaching us that the Almighty saves us from all of life’s narrow confines.

"As Water Reflects a Face" ✡ Children of the Same God

As water reflects a face back to a face, so one's heart is reflected back to him by another.

PROVERBS (27:19)

כַּמַּיִם הַפָּנִים לַפָּנִים כֵּן לֵב הָאָדָם לָאָדָם

מִשְׁלֵי כז:יט

ka-mai-yim ha-pa-neem la-pa-neem kayn layv ha-a-dam la-a-dam

Today’s Israel Inspiration

Today's verse from Proverbs contains a wonderful tip for improving personal relationships. Our feelings towards another person reflect back to us like a mirror. If we feel love or hate for a person, he or she will feel the same way in return. To improve a relationship, one need only work on exuding positive energy and admiration for the person in mind, and like a mirror, his heart will begin to match ours. "Heart to Heart" is Israel's National Blood Bank, sustaining Israel’s blood supply to help ensure that sick and injured Israelis can get the blood they need in case of emergency.

Yesterday's Photo Trivia

Yesterday's photo trivia featured the Tomb of Absalom in Jerusalem's Kidron Valley on the eastern side of the Old City. Absalom was the rebellious son of King David, and the Bible describes Absalom building the tomb himself for he had no sons to do it (I Samuel 18:18).
