"Past, Present and Future Mantles and the Great Phoenix of the Holy Spirit" - THE ELIJAH LIST Jeff Jansen

Jeff Jansen: "Past, Present and Future Mantles
and the Great Phoenix of the Holy Spirit"

Jul 20, 2017
Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:
Saints, are you feeling ready for a Glory Revival? So many of you have been watching and praying to see a glorious outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Well...be encouraged as you read through this latest word by Jeff Jansen.
He shares about an encounter he had, as well as the interpretation of what he believes is coming for the Church as he shares:
Adam's rebellion toward God ended in spiritual death, resulting in separation from God. But now what was hidden deep in the spirit of man is being uncovered and rediscovered by a family of sons and daughters of God all around the world. All things have been put in subjection under the feet of Jesus Christ and we are part of His Body – so all things are under our feet.
Take some time to prayerfully consider this word and look with HOPE to the future for what's to come! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Friends, I've been in an extended season of prayer and preparation for what I believe will be the release of the next level of outpouring and Glory Revival in our time. We are coming into a place in human history where all the deposits and cumulative anointings from past generations will be poured out upon a company of Believers who have been prepared through their process to carry it. For those who are hungry there is a fresh proficiency, revelation and power being offered that will mark individuals for a new era in Christendom, affecting generations to come.
Mantles in the Heavenly Locker Room
Several years ago I was taken to a room in the spirit that looked like a football locker room. In this room I saw mantles hanging from shaker pegs, and above the mantles were the names of great men and women of God, both in Scripture and recent days, who helped shape the course of history for breakthrough in their generation.
I saw names like Elijah, Jeremiah, Enoch, Isaiah, Charles Finney, William Branham, Smith Wigglesworth, Maria Woodworth-Etter, Katherine Kuhlman and others. The Lord was standing with me in this vision and said, "Jeff, choose one, I'll give it to you."
"It took the death of Jesus Christ, the One True Heavenly King, to restore us to our rightful place as kings and lords of the earth."
As I was pondering which mantle to choose I turned to the Lord and said, "I don't know which one to choose Lord, You choose for me." At a different time when I was recalling this encounter to Bob Jones he said, "Boy, that was the best answer you could have given the Lord. You let Him choose for you."
At that point I found myself with a mortar and pestle in my hand, and the Lord handed me three pills and said, "Grind them." As I was grinding the three pills the Lord said, "These three pills are the past, present and future mantles that are being offered to this generation."
The Lord was offering the cumulation of all past, present and future mantles to be poured out upon a glory generation that will be fully equipped to bring about the greatest revival and harvest the world has ever seen.
The Great Phoenix of the Holy Spirit
Recently I saw a great fire bird in the spirit flying over the city of Atlanta. The fire bird is commonly known as a Phoenix, and Atlanta is known as the "Phoenix of the South". I watched as I saw the whole city set ablaze as the Holy Spirit flew criss-cross over the city, releasing a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit upon those who are gathering and contending for outpouring and revival.
I saw people coming out of wheel chairs, deaf were hearing, and the blind saw, along with many staggering signs and wonders as the fire bird released wave after wave of fresh Holy Ghost power. The Lord was showing me that Atlanta was a prototype of what will happen in many cities globally. Immediately I thought of the Seraphim in Isaiah 6:3 that cried, "...Holy, Holy, Holy...the whole earth is filled with His glory." (Photo via Wikimedia Commons)
"In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw [in a vision] the Lord sitting on a throne, high and exalted, with the train of His royal robe filling the [most holy part of the] temple. Above Him seraphim (heavenly beings) stood; each one had six wings: with two wings he covered his face, with two wings he covered his feet, and with two wings he flew. And one called out to another, saying, 'Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is filled with His glory.' And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, and the temple was filling with smoke." (Isaiah 6:1-4 AMP)
Seraphim are "burning ones" that fly above the throne and the Lord of glory. One of the functions of the Seraphim is "healing". One of God's names is Raphim(Jehovah Rapha) – which is "the God who heals" – so these burning ones that come out of the presence of the Lord are literally burning, healing angels.
This fiery Phoenix of the Spirit was being released over places of great hunger to release fresh miracles, healing, and signs and wonders to the sons of the Kingdom.
We can begin to see healing revival burn in the most unexpected places in this new season.
Kingdom Family Business
All of these prophetic encounters and promises are wonderful, but are pointing at something much greater. Yes it's for revival, yes it's for the harvest – but God has a much larger view in mind. We can describe the plan of God as simple. It is to extend the rule of His unseen Kingdom through a family of heirs – sons and daughters.
These offspring will act as God, on behalf of God, being His legal representatives and judiciaries on the planet, carrying out His orders and implementing the will of their Father and older heavenly Brother, Jesus Christ. From the dawn of time it has always been about family, about the Father and His children, and it will continue to be so until the end days. It's high time now for us to be about the Father's business. After the resurrection Jesus told Mary who was the first to see Him: "Go to My brothers and say to them, I'm ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God" (John 20:17 NKJV).
"For those who are hungry there is a fresh proficiency, revelation and power being offered that will mark individuals for a new era in Christendom, affecting generations to come."
We are the brothers and sisters of Jesus. His Father is our Father; His God is our God. Jesus is the firstborn among many brothers:
"For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son, so that His Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters."(Rom. 8:29 NLT)
Jesus is the prototype for all His brothers and sisters who find their way to the Father to share with Him as heirs of the coming Kingdom. Jesus was not ashamed to call us brothers because we are family with Him. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12).
He gave those who believe in His name the right, ability, and privilege to become children of God.
A New Place in Human History
We are in a place and time in human history where we are starting to see the children of the Kingdom come into maturity. These seeds are coming of age and are beginning to bring about fruit that resemble the original Seed, Jesus Christ.
Through His children, God is establishing His Kingdom and purposes on the earth. He rules the seen world from the unseen world through our spirit, and is birthing His initiatives through us in the physical world. The fruitful journey of Jesus was well documented as He traveled about cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. He cured every sickness, disease, and infirmity that He encountered, further preparing the soil and sowing the precious seed (see Matt. 4:23; 9:35).
Everywhere He preached the Gospel, Jesus displayed His power with wild miracles, signs, and wonders. God expects His family to do the same thing – acting the same way as Jesus did. Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" (Photo via Wikimedia Commons)
"Because you are His sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, 'Abba, Father.' So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir." (Galatians 4:7).
The Lion of Judah is Roaring Again
Excerpt from "Furious Sound of Glory" by Jeff Jansen:
"It took the death of Jesus Christ, the One True Heavenly King, to restore us to our rightful place as kings and lords of the earth. It was for the joy that was set before Him that He endured the Cross, knowing that on the other side of the pain there would be you and I, the redeemed sons and daughters of the Heavenly King. His intention was that the one true Heavenly King (Jesus) would live through the many kings on the earth and establish His reign of authority through a family. So, in this final chapter of human history and on this side of eternity, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah is roaring again.
"The final chapter of these events will be so terrible, so incredible in the earth that even the elements will shudder with great shaking as angels and demons wage war in the heavenly realm. Intercession will focus on the arrival and coming forth of a Kingdom family who is filled with the sound of His roar. They will have power and authority to manifest the glory of God in the earth, breaking the curse over creation and releasing healing in the nations, causing them to flourish once again in the glorious freedom for which they were created. Some would say, 'Jeff this is too far-reaching, merely visions of grandeur!' In reality, these Scriptural truths are yet to be apprehended and walked out by a supernatural Church – the called out ones or the ecclesia. This company of Believers will reach far beyond the normative mind-sets of the day and demonstrate the miraculous in ways not seen in Church history. Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price in Blood through Calvary to open the heavens and restore to us the keys to the Kingdom. He will reap the reward of His suffering.
"Even now, the clash between Heaven and earth is mounting. Darkness has become increasingly dark and powerful as we draw near to the end and toward the Great Revival. The Church is under pressure and is being squeezed to produce the sweet wine of Heaven. There are great pressures in the earth and pressure in the heavens. Cosmic violence is beginning to spill out upon the earth. Heaven is not for the faint of heart but is a violent realm causing even the strongest to fear and tremble. This heavenly fury will be poured out in these last days upon an end-time army of God that has been prepared to carry it. And this army will unleash the Spirit of Revival in the nations of the earth. We must get ready for the unleashing of the furious sound of glory–the roar of power and love that transforms the earth." (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

"The Beginnings of a Great Move – Amongst Present Darkness"- Darren Canning

"The Beginnings of a Great Move – Amongst Present Darkness"
Darren Canning, Ontario, Canada
The Elijah List

I was reading about St. Brendan a couple of days ago. He was a Monk who was born in the amazing era when Christianity was being introduced to Ireland in the fifth and sixth centuries AD. What really intrigued me about him was his desire to reach the nations around him for the Lord.

St. Brendan started many monasteries in Ireland and even in far off places in his time like Scotland. He was an apostolic father who gathered others around him to affect nations for the Lord. I am sensing that what was on his life is about to rise up on the lives of some men and women of God in our time.

I guess because I come from the island of Newfoundland in Canada, I am intrigued by people who once sailed the big, wide oceans for adventure and missionary assignments before the modern era. In fact, some of my own family crossed that wild ocean from England to Newfoundland to do missionary work. (Photo via Wikimedia)

The faith of these people amazes me because I have seen how big the waves in Newfoundland can get. The North Atlantic is not a water that you want to find yourself in. Even in the summer the waters are very cold and dark, but the bluest blues you can imagine. So when St. Brendan set sail from Ireland to do exploits in similar waters for the Lord, this was a voyage of great faith but he trusted God and as a result saw God do wonderful things.

The Beginnings of a Great Move

It takes great faith to do great things for God. I really believe that we are on the cusp of the greatest revival the earth has ever seen. Even now many nations are feeling the beginnings of a great move of the Spirit. I was recently in New Zealand and Australia. We ministered to almost 800 people in 10 days. I prophesied over 400 or 500 people myself. God touched those hearts deeply. I could sense the presence of God in a most special way.

While in Melbourne, I had the opportunity to go to the birthplace of the Pentecostal movement in Australia. It was started by an amazing woman named Janet Lancaster in a building on Russell Street. The name of the work was the Good News Hall. It was started in 1909. For those of you who know your history that was during the years of Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles. Many well-known ministers of the early Pentecostal movement went to this place in Melbourne to speak including Aimee Semple McPherson and Smith Wigglesworth.

In fact, the day that we visited this historic revival site would have been Smith's 156th birthday. When he preached in Melbourne there was a tremendous move of the Holy Spirit. They say that over 2000 people were filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
It was prophetic that we were there on his birthday.

I sense that God is releasing a new anointing in this hour. What was on the lives of the great saints of past generations, including those like St. Brendan of Ireland and the Wigglesworths, is about to come forth and be birthed again in the new generation. (Photo of Smith Wigglesworth via Wikimedia)

One of the visions I had in Australia in particular was of a young woman who grew eagle's wings. I saw this in a trance. It was as if I was standing right next to this young lady. I felt that this was a particular word for Australia, but have since considered that this was something that God is doing in this hour among women worldwide.

Women and The Next Generation of Seers and Prophetic Voices

God is going to raise up the young ladies of the next generation to become powerful seers and prophetic voices to their generations. They are going to see in very accurate ways. They are going to be a part of a legion of young women who will rise to see their cities taken for the Lord.

In fact while in Adelaide, I went into a Museum and saw pictures of women who served in World War I as nurses. There was an amazing picture of hundreds of women dressed in white nursing uniforms marching through the streets. They were excited to serve the men who were being hurt at war. They did not fear for their lives, but were content to serve their nation in the way they were being called to do so.

ElijahList Prophetic Resources

That same zeal is reawakening in the earth in this hour. I can see a mighty wave of women rising into their destinies. God is going to use those who say, "I will."

On that trip to Australia, I met some young women that exemplified this word. I was amazed at the zeal and passion for the Lord in their lives.

Not only are the women going to be touched but the men will as well. I see a new anointing that is about to emerge upon the people of my era. I see them being inspired by the Holy Spirit to step out in a new way. They are going to be forerunners that are going to usher in a new era of worldwide missions. They will not fear their lives even unto death. Even in the hour when ISIS is on the rise these ones will look into the face of this present darkness and command it to cease and desist.

A Dream of ISIS and Present Darkness

In fact recently I had a dream. I saw, if you will, a very dark place where people were given over to worshipping the evil one. I was sitting in the room with them. I was uncomfortable being there in the dream but soon realized God had me there on assignment.

There was a woman there who had a very serious problem with her back. It may have been Scoliosis. I began to command her back to be healed and when I did, there was a cracking and she stood right up. Before the healing she was completely hunched over sitting in a wheelchair. When this healing took place she jumped up rejoicing in what God had done.

As you can imagine I was very excited, but then I was standing at the top of a set of stairs leading into the basement. I heard a commotion down there and suddenly a spirit ran up to speak to me. This was the spirit of ISIS. (Photo via Wikipedia)

It said to me, "Because you are involved in these healings I am sending out my ISIS fighters and they are about to kill Christians worldwide." I looked at him and an authority rose up in my heart. I said, "No, that is not what is about to happen. In fact, your ISIS fighters are about to come to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior."

When I said this there was like an electricity flowing through me. It was awesome to feel. The truth of what I spoke still rests inside of me. That great evil will not overcome the earth, but Christ will overcome this evil.

Jesus said in Matthew 13:31-32, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches."

Consider for a moment the words you just read. Please think about what Jesus was declaring. He said the Kingdom tree is the biggest tree in the garden. When I read this recently a light came on and I stopped worrying about the takeover of the planet by Islam. In fact, I am not worried about that at all now.

Christianity is the largest faith worldwide and will continue to be because Jesus declared it so while He was on the earth. Are you reading this? Don't worry about this present darkness because God is about to revive the earth, so that even the persecutors are about to turn to him in mass.

Will you be a part of this revival? Will you go into the earth in this hour? Will you accept the call of Christ? Jesus is calling so who are the warriors that will rise?

1 Big Reason Spiritual People Are Leaving Churches

1 Big Reason Spiritual People Are Leaving Churches

Spirit-filled people are leaving churches for this one reason.

The Flaming Herald, by Bert Farias

"And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God" (1 Cor. 2:4-5).
A solid and stable friend of mine has left three churches in the last decade. She attended all of them for a period of time and then left.
In the first church, the pastor stopped having guest ministers in and the church began to dry up.
In the second church, there was a small stirring of the Spirit for awhile, but then the church turned to the seeker friendly philosophy and tongues were confined to the back room.
In the third church, again it was alright for some time, but then the leadership began to move in a different direction and incorporate modern church growth principles and Madison Avenue tactics that grieved the Holy Spirit, and everything changed. Soon greasy doctrines slid into the church. She had no choice but to leave again.
To those really seeking to encounter God, soon the fancy stage, the bright lights, the cool bands, and the video screens, just become white noise to them. They want Spirit and fire.
There was a season in Catherine Booth's life, the wife of Salvation Army founder William Booth, where she visited different churches in her area "looking for burning words".
Smith Wigglesworth had a similar experience where the Spirit kept telling him to come out of dead works and dead churches. He continued to move with God throughout his entire life.
One day a youth leader made an appointment with his pastor to discuss the implementation of a new program for the young people. The pastor, a deeply spiritual man, listened patiently. After the young man finished talking, the pastor responded with these words: "Mom (his wife) and I have found over the years that prayer, the Word, and moving in the gifts of the Holy Spirit have always got the job done."
Think about these examples. The same thing is happening today. When pastors and church leaders fail to follow the plan of God some people leave because they are not being spiritually fed and fulfilled. Sometimes they cannot even articulate the reason they are leaving. They may tell you it's because of the music, or the preaching, or the youth and children's programs, but the underground reason may be because they are not encountering God any more.
I've read articles and exit polls about the many reasons people leave their churches, but most of them are surface reasons. They make it so complex and complicated causing more pastors and church leaders to continue re-hashing over the many ideas they could implement to increase their numbers. But is that what it's really about? The numbers? The Catholics have numbers; the Muslims have numbers; the Mormons have numbers. I would rather have 300 hungry-for-God people than 3,000 who want to be entertained.
Think about the many revivals throughout church history. Think about the ministers God has used to pioneer some of those revivals. It was the presence and power of God in these meetings and on these ministers that drew the people. Throughout history people have always craved the supernatural. I know that the local church also caters to people's natural lives and natural needs, and cannot be run like a revival. But the people also need continual renewals and re-fillings of the Holy Spirit.
If the presence and power of God are in manifestation and people still leave, what of it? Do you really want those kind of people in your church? Conversely, I know many spiritual people who are exiting their churches for lack of rain. They are not leaving due to offense or pride. They are not backsliding and leaving God, but they are leaving deadness, lightness, and superficiality. There is a cry in God's people for the waters of the Spirit and fresh new wine.
"My soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory." (Ps. 63:2-3)
It is amazing what leaders can build and do without God, especially right here in America. But that doesn't mean that God's stamp of approval is on what you are building or doing. Divine power can only manifest when there is an end to self-sufficiency. If you become lukewarm and stop hungering and thirsting for the Spirit you will become a disappointment to God. I don't care how big of a building or how many people attend your church.
I love the local church. I love pastors who truly lay down their lives for the people they serve. I believe the local church to be the hope of the world. But God wants to move. He has a plan. He has a purpose. And if we don't line up with it He has no choice but to move where He finds His people and His leaders hungering for His presence and power.
I have a pastor friend who is leading a thriving church. The adults, the youth, and the children are on fire there. He has several guest speakers and at least two revivals every year. There is an expression in his church of a diversity of the Holy Spirit's ministries and manifestations that is rare today. He is a man of love and prayer and he listens to the Lord. By today's standards he is unconventional in that he refuses to compromise prayer, the Word, and the moving of the Holy Spirit and implement the newest church growth programs or the latest fads.
This church has constant revival because there is liberty in the Spirit for the Lord to do what He wants to do. This church is producing spiritual people and not clock watchers and time servers.
Pentecostal meetings use to be called the gate of heaven because of all the manifestations of the Spirit and power of God they had.  Testimonies of changed lives were frequent. These churches were known for tongues and power. One of the big reasons we are not seeing the power and the glory of God in many of our churches today is because we don't pray in tongues long enough until the Holy Spirit can take hold with us and give birth to these things.
Oh, people of God! Oh, ministers of the Lord! May we come to the end of our own wisdom, strength, and sufficiency!
"Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God" (2 Cor. 3:5).
The apostle Paul was careful to place the focus of the people he ministered to on the power of God and not on the wisdom of men. He did not want to bring attention to his own persuasive words or enticing speech. He did not want people to place their confidence on man's ability, or charisma and personality. There was nothing in his ministry that was natural. With fear and trembling he sought to make Christ manifest everywhere he went.
Too many churches have lost the glory because their pastors and ministry leaders live too much in the natural. Get back in the Spirit. May we fall on our face and pray, and let the Spirit of God have His way.

Amazing 1927 Smith Wigglesworth Message

Amazing 1927 Smith Wigglesworth Message

Cross
Smith Wigglesworth delivered this powerful message nearly a century ago! (Flickr/Creative Commons)
On August 11, 1927, Smith Wigglesworth stood in Angelus Temple to preach on preparing for the Second Coming of Christ. He told the audience that liquid fire was consuming him. Then Wigglesworth made this opening statement:
But there will be things that will happen prior to His coming that we shall know. You can tell. I am like one this morning that is moving with a liquid, holy, indispensable, real fire in my bosom, and I know it is burning and the body is not consumed. It is real fire from heaven that is making my utterances come to you to know that He is coming. He is on the way. God is going to help me tell you why you will know. You that have the breath of the Spirit, there is something now moving as I speak. As I speak, this breath of mighty, quickening, moving, changing, desirable power is making you know and it is this alone that is making you know that you will be ready.
1. There must be special preparation for the return of Christ and at least half of all believers will be totally unprepared. We have to see that these days have to come before the Lord can come. There has to be a falling away. I want to speak to you very exactly. All the people which are pressing into and getting ready for this glorious attained place where they shall not be found naked, where they shall be blameless, where they shall be immovable, where they shall be purified by the power of the Word of God, have within them a consciousness of the very presence of God within, changing their very nature and preparing them for a greater thing, and causing them to be ready for translation.
This is the day of purifying. This is the day of holiness. This is the day of separation. This is the day of waking. O God, let us wake today! Let the inner spirit wake into consciousness that God is calling us. There are in the world two classes of believers. There are believers which are disobedient, or I ought to say there are children which are saved by the power of God which are disobedient children. And there are children which are just the same saved by the power of God who all the time are longing to be more obedient.
And we heard the word come rushing, through all over, "new theology" that damnable, devilish, evil power that lived in some of these disobedient children, which in these last days opened the door to the next thing.
2. There will be many Christians who believe that they can do whatever they want and God will look the other way. People are tremendously afraid of this position because they have heard so much on this line: "Oh, you know you are the elect of God. You are sure to be all right." There have been in England great churches which were laid out upon these things. I thank God that they're all withered. You will find if you go to England those strong people that used to hold all these things are almost withered out. Why? Because they went on to say whatever you did, if you were elect, you were right. That is wrong. The elect of God are those that are pressing forward.
3. It will be common for preachers to deny the existence of hell. Denying hell prepares the way for antichrist. What? No hell. The devil has always said that "what does Christian Science say?" [Ray says, "We could insert other names here for the times we're in right now.] No hell, no devil. They are ready for him. The devil has always said no hell, no evil. And these people are preparing, and they do not know it, for the Man of Sin.
4. It is offensive to talk about the blood of Christ. When I spoke about the blood and when I spoke about this infernal thing, the whole place was upset. You be careful when anybody comes to you with a sugar-coated pill or with a slimy tongue. They are always of the devil. The Spirit of the Lord will always deal with truth. These people never deal with truth. They always cover up the truth.
Do you believe it? Who can do it? THE BLOOD CAN DO IT! The blood, the blood, Oh the blood! The blood of the Lamb. The blood of Jesus can do it. Spotless, clean, preserved for God. Give the devil the biggest chase of his life and say these words: "The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanseth us from all unrighteousness."
5. The world will look to worship a man and will overlook his faults to get him into power. These people are determined to have a man. They know someone has to come. We know Who He is that is coming. They begin to make a man. So they find a man in India, they polish him up as much as they can, and they make him as—well, in appearance, but you know we are told by the Lord that there is soft clothing that goes onto wolves' backs.
6. That people believe that certain preachers are of God simply because of their crowds and their buildings. A person said to me, "You see, the Christian Scientists must be right—look at the beautiful buildings. Look at all the people following them." Yes, everybody can belong to it. You can go to any brother you like, you can go to any theater you like, you can go to any race course you like, you can be mixed up with the rest of the people in your life and still be a Christian Scientist. You can have the devil right and left and anywhere, and still belong to Christian Science.
7. As Churches turn away from the Holy Spirit many believers go to false teachers. The secret of many people going into Christian Science is a barren church that had not the Holy Ghost. Christian Science exists because the churches have a barren place because they haven't the Holy Ghost. There would be no room for Christian Science if the churches were filled with the Holy Ghost.
8. The last days are a time for the true people of God to engage in extravagant asking. Up to this present time, the Lord's word is for us, "Hitherto ye have asked nothing." Surely you people that have been asking great things from God for a long time would be amazed if you entered into it with clear knowledge that it is the Master, it is Jesus, who has such knowledge of the mightiness of the power of the Father, of the joint union with Him, that nothing is impossible for you to ask. Surely it is He only Who could say, "Hitherto you have asked nothing." So God means me to press you another step forward. Begin to believe on extravagant asking, believing that God is pleased when you ask large things.

The Battle
During a trip to Haiti in May 2014, I was hit with a horrible virus called Chickungunya. Let me tell you, it was not fun. Actually, the doctors think I contracted the mosquito-borne virus twice, making matters more complicated. Following the Chickungunya came vertigo, and then several weeks later shingles came knocking on my door. Needless to say, all of this was challenging and foreign to me because I don't do sick - period. But it is at times like these that we learn to practice what we preach and walk as overcomers in Christ Jesus.

As I received prayer for the maladies, some of the people praying sensed that curses had been spoken over me. Others broke off damaging words that the Lord showed them, because we all know that life or death is in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:2). And, of course, we needed to discern how the enemy might have been allowed access into my life, and then we prayed to close any doors (spiritually speaking) that may have been open. All of the discernment shared during the time of illness was greatly appreciated, and, as always, Jesus is the Healer.

The Light

In anticipation of the fulfillment of prophetic words declaring that one billion souls are coming into the Kingdom of God within the next ten years, every one of us must be strong and healthy. So, in preparing for the great harvest of souls that's coming, I strongly contended for my health during this season of testing. Today, I want to encourage anyone reading this who needs to win a victory to do the same - contend! It's interesting, but I found that what actually bothered me much more than being physically sick was that I felt spiritually sick too. I sensed that I had lost some of God's divine light. My eyes, which are the window to the soul, seemed dull and lifeless and it seemed that some of the Lord's light was MIA when it came to my countenance.

It was Smith Wigglesworth who once said, "Don't lose in the dark what you gained in the light." All believers have a conflict going on between the Kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. And we know that eventually darkness will cover the earth, and deep darkness the peoples, as we read in Isaiah 60. Because of this, beloved, we must know how to contend for and maintain the fullness of the King of Glory if we go through dark times ourselves.

When we've done all we can, we must stand firm, knowing that in the end God's light always wins. It helps to remember that one little match can light up a huge arena, so we must push through the darkness, trusting God, knowing and believing that Jesus is our Bright Morning Star.

James 1:17 tells us that "every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow." By hiding this Word in my heart, I was well aware that the missing light was not God's issue, because in Him there is no shifting shadow. Rather, I knew the issue was mine, and I longed to shine for Jesus.

What Is the Light?

The Word of God tells us in James 5 that our effective prayers accomplish much. And wisdom tells us that if we are to grapple for something, then we must know what that something is. If there are things that have been stolen in our lives, how can we expect them to be restored if we don't know exactly what they are?

John says, "In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it" (John 1:4-5). We know the light that born-again believers have is in the Lord, and the Lord is in them, causing His light to shine. And we also know from this passage that the darkness can't lay hold of it. In other words, the darkness can't even understand or perceive the light that dwells within us. So we must speak the Word and God will bring light out of darkness, order out of chaos.

A good place to gain understanding of the light is at the beginning. In Genesis 1:3, God said,"Let there be light; and there was light." The Hebrew word for light here is owr (ore), which means illumination, bright and clear. The root word means "to be," to cause, or to make glorious; to set on fire, or to shine. God was calling down the presence of the Lord of Glory on the entire planet in the beginning, causing light to shine forth in the darkness!
Later on in the creation narrative, we see the light of the moon, sun, and the stars being created:

God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.

God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day (Genesis 1:14-19).

The Hebrew word for light in this scripture is maowr, which refers to the sun and the moon. The first light God called forth was divine light, and the second type of light was solar light. Of course, we must have both (we couldn't physically survive without solar light), but we desire to be filled with God's divine light and not lose it in the dark.

Where is the Light?

If God called down the presence of the glory of the Lord, then what happened since that time? Why isn't it being manifested on the earth today? After all, if we are truly filled with the divine light of God, then wouldn't we be like human, electric bug zappers? This isn't just any light we're talking about here; it's the light of Almighty God! Think about it for a moment: if any darkness or any evil even gets close to the light of God, shouldn't it supernaturally disintegrate, kind of like getting too close to the sun?

Unfortunately, after the creation of light in Genesis, we had this problem in the garden called the fall of man, where Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, thus disobeying God. But now we can also experience redemption of all things since Jesus paid our debt on the cross, reversing the curse from the garden of Eden. I don't know about you, but that inspires me to contend for the light of God, the fullness of His presence, until we see it fully restored in our own lives, and in the earth as well.

Wouldn't you agree that the Kingdom of Heaven is a Kingdom of light, where everything shines and everything glistens? First John 1:5 tells us, "God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all." Therefore, if we're in Christ and Christ is in us, and there is no darkness at all in Him, then there shouldn't be any darkness at all in us.

The Lord is leading His Bride into a time where there will be no mixture of light and darkness. No spots or wrinkles. In fact, He's commanding us to shine like never before. We've been hearing Isaiah 60:1-3 for years now, telling us:

Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the LORD will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

How will nations come to our light if they can't see it? It's our responsibility to contend for the light of God, and not lose in the darkness what we've gained in the light. And let us also remember that glory and light are always connected: "And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb"(Revelation 21:23).

Nothing Between God and Us

Looking back to Genesis 1 again, the Word says, "The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light" (Genesis 1:2-3).

What did God make the light out of? The light came out of darkness! He didn't even cast out the darkness; He just turned it into light. He simply declared, "Let there be light," and there light appeared. In all of God's wisdom and brilliance, He used the darkness for His glory. Alleluia!

Shouldn't that same principle apply to us today? Of course it should, because we're sons and daughters of the Most High God. We're His ambassadors, speaking His Word. He's the vine and we are the branches, so as we cling to the vine we stay plugged into the power source - God. We should be able to make use of the darkness surrounding us, allowing the glory of God's light to shine forth. The darkness in our lives, whether that's illness, bitterness, gossip or fill-in-the-blank, can become the foundations of our destinies (Psalm 102:25) if we allow God to build light out of darkness as He uses all things for good. This is why Jesus said we are to be a city set on a hill and a light on a lampstand, giving light for all to see.

While I was sick, I realized that the illness was trying to pull my focus off of Jesus onto myself, onto my flesh. It's difficult, but not impossible, to stay focused on the Word and on the promises of God when we're sick. And yes, of course, to everything there is a season, and sometimes we have to slow down and concentrate on resting and getting well. But the Lord has promised to take us from strength to strength and from glory to glory, so we have to find a way to allow His living Word to change us. For me, it was the Bible on CD, as well as praise and worship.

I enjoy how The Message translates 2 Corinthians 3:16-18, because it gives us insight into beholding God's light and letting it be reflected back out of us.

Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are-face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We're free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.

Do you get it? When we behold His face and stand in His light, any darkness or sin must come out of hiding. It can't stand in the light, for His light exposes all things. And the more we look at Him, the more we look like Him. Every time we're sick, grieved, or hurt, if we can learn to behold His face and bleed worship in the midst of our suffering, a divine exchange takes place.

The Lord is asking that there be nothing between us and Him. I recall a vision the Lord gave me of the bride's veil being lifted off her face, but just to the bottom of her eyes. I believe it is a good time to ask ourselves some tough questions, like what is causing darkness in our lives? What are some of the veils we wear that don't allow God's glory to shine in or shine out in fullness? Perhaps there are veils of sin, infirmities, wounds, rejection, bitterness, and poverty that must be taken care of so the glory of the Lord can fill the earth.

God Turns Darkness into Light

We have to understand that it is only the Lord who causes our light to shine as we yield to Him. In Psalm 18:28, the psalmist declares, "You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light." Not only does the Lord turn our darkness into light, but He also wants to fill us with His light.

He tells us in Ephesians 1:17-18, which is a prayer Paul prayed for the Ephesian believers:  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened (illuminated, shining), so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.

Beloved, 2015 is going to be an amazing year as the Lord removes the veils and allows His light to be seen like never before. Even in the midst of all the darkness surrounding us, we must yield to God and gradually become brighter and more beautiful as He fills our lives and turns darkness into light.
