"Feeling Misunderstood? God Is Opening New Doors - Prepare for Promotion!" - Joe Joe Dawson, THE ELIJAH LIST

"Feeling Misunderstood? God Is Opening New Doors
- Prepare for Promotion!"

Joe Joe Dawson, Texarkana, Texas

August 16, 2019

From the Desk of Steve Shultz:

Steve Shultz    We've received quite a few words about this being a season of open doors...

I know many of you are starting new ventures with the Lord. He's called you to new things to build in the Kingdom with new creativity.
Some have felt "misunderstood" as Joe Joe Dawson puts it in his recent article:

Just recently, in a time of corporate prayer, the Lord spoke to me about the month of August. The Lord only said this one word to me: "Misunderstood." I began to think about different people in the Bible and how many of them were misunderstood...

I want you to read this most encouraging word and receive it for yourself... God is opening new doors for you!

"Feeling Misunderstood? God Is Opening New Doors - Prepare for Promotion!"
Joe Joe Dawson, Texarkana, Texas

Recently, very early in the morning, I was in a time of prayer when I heard the Lord say, "I am about to open doors for so many people, but tell them to be ready."

He is Making a Way

God is about to open doors for many people. Not just one door, but many doors. However, the Lord is wanting us to make sure that our hearts and minds are ready to receive these open doors. The Lord wants us to be fully ready when they open. We must be prepared, in the right mindset, and spiritually strong enough to walk through these doors when they open. We must get our emotions aligned and our spirits ready.

God is going to make a way where there seems to be no way.

He is going to open up doors in such a grand fashion that you are going to be able to run through them at full speed. When you enter in, instantaneously, you will reflect back and understand why you spent so long in a wilderness and cave season. Every previous season will make sense in light of these open doors.

The "Old You" Cannot Enter

The reason God wants you to prepare before the doors are open is because the "old you" cannot enter into this new season. Your old way of thinking cannot handle these open doors. Your old way of doing things will not let you operate correctly in this new season.

One reason doors have not opened for you yet is because of the people beside you. Some of the people beside you right now cannot go through these doors. It doesn't mean they're bad people, it just means these doors are not designed for them to walk through. Some people, if you allow them to go with you through the open doors, will try to grab a hold of you and keep you from the advancement that God has for you.

Don't allow anyone, any mindset, any old habit or anything else to keep you from stepping into your open doors! You have been faithfully walking with the Lord through the hard times and through the great times but they have all been leading up to this season. You are about to run full speed ahead into your destiny.

"Misunderstood"

Just recently, in a time of corporate prayer, the Lord spoke to me about the month of August. The Lord only said this one word to me: "Misunderstood." I began to think about different people in the Bible and how many of them were misunderstood.

King David was the son who was sent out into the wilderness. David felt misunderstood his entire life. While his brothers were in the house with their father, he was out in the field with the sheep. I would imagine David felt misunderstood and alone in the wilderness, but what he could not see at the time was that God had placed him there to prepare him.

David was not the only one who spent time alone with God in the wilderness. Immediately following Jesus' baptism He went out into the wilderness to fast and be alone with the Father. Jesus was misunderstood His entire time on the earth but it did not keep Him from accomplishing what He knew He was sent to do.

The apostle Paul, because of his radical and instantaneous transformation, was misunderstood. Paul was misunderstood by many of the Believers and former disciples because Paul had previously been murdering Christians and was now suddenly trying to preach the Gospel! It did not make any sense to anyone else, but Paul kept moving forward even though he was initially misunderstood.

Prepared for Promotion

When we encounter a season in the wilderness it is not to punish us but rather to prepare us for promotion.

You may feel misunderstood and rejected but God is setting you up! In seasons where you feel lonely or isolated, draw near to God in the wilderness.

If you feel misunderstood, you are in the perfect place and in the perfect time to receive the favor and the blessings of God. This is a season where God is taking those people that have felt misunderstood and isolated in this season and pouring out His Spirit upon them. God uses and sends people who are misunderstood to establish His Kingdom on the earth. God called Moses who stuttered and could easily be misunderstood to lead an entire nation of people out of bondage! Just because you have been misunderstood does not mean that God cannot do great exploits through you.

For those that have felt rejected, isolated, lonely and forgotten, others may have misunderstood you but God has been preparing you for a season and a reason that will soon make sense. When people misunderstand you, Heaven understands you. One of the reasons why many of you have felt misunderstood was to protect you from wrong relationships and to set you apart.

Get ready for everything that the Lord has for you. Don't worry about being misunderstood, God is setting you up for something powerful!

"The Generations Are Aligning!
Press Through Your Narrow Place!"

Chuck D. Pierce, Corinth, TX

Dear Pressing Ones:

This is a time when we must aggressively press through the narrow place so we break through and go the distance! Sunday's service was an amazing example of the generations aligning. Not only did we have an on-fire group of youth returning from camp, but my daughter (Rebekah Faubion) and I were able to minister together on how to press out to press in to our promises.

Pressing Through!

There comes a moment when you capture the revelation that shifts you into your future. Whereas slavery confines you to a narrow place and constricts you physically, emotionally and spiritually, there comes a time to press into your new level of fullness. And, as Rebekah said, that time is NOW! We don't want to miss the signs the Lord is providing to break us out of old cycles and illuminate the revelation that will shift us into our future.

Don't rehearse your failures and mistakes. This is your time to occupy and access the vision the Lord has placed within you.

This journey is about how you allow God to breakthrough in you, and not just coming through one narrow place. If you are aligned with God and respond to His voice with thanksgiving, He will help you go through narrow place after narrow place after narrow place. Commit to go the distance – the best is yet ahead!

Your Time to Come Out in the Sun!

Here is a key prophecy that will help encourage you to keep advancing through this month of Av:

The Lord says, "I see you in your enclosed place. I see you as you sit and attempt to heal that which needs to be healed. But this is not a time of licking and mending your wounds over and over; this is a time for you to come out into the sun. The sun will heal your wounds and burn out what is within you. Don't back up and hide again! Come out and watch Me begin to bring you into wholeness.

"You have forgotten where you have come from. Some of you have settled yourself into where you are now but forgotten that you are from a royal priesthood. Do not confine yourself to where you are nor the bloodline that you're in, for there is a higher stream of Blood that I have given to you. The same Blood that ran down Calvary's Cross is your blood.

"Do not submit to the bad things in your bloodline, for there is a higher Blood. Forget not where you come from, for you are My sheep and I still am the Good Shepherd! Watch Me shepherd you as we go into this new era; I will reveal Myself as the Good Shepherd.

"Keep your eyes on Me because I am the One that's leading you. You are afraid to come out into the sun because in the light you are exposed. You fear what others may see or say when you step into the light. However, they do not see what I see. I am not about what is exposed in the sun, but the shining that's coming from inside of you! What I have placed inside of you is going to radiate beyond what is seen and what is exposed, and is what will lead you into the new.'

"Like the three Hebrews in Babylon's raging fire, this is a time when you will feel the intensity of the heat. However, this will not consume you but prepare you to hold on to My promises. The fire I have set within you will overcome the fire in the earth realm.

"My consuming fire is coming to those things the enemy set you in, to overtake you. My spotlight is on you. You are to radiate and cause the light I put on you to cause the darkness around you to separate and dispel. My light is on you, and you cause the darkness around you to separate and dispel." "BE BOLD for What You Stand for
and Discerning About What You Fall for"

The Shaking Will Continue
A prophetic word is coming to the Church. I am wrestling with it now. Here is what I am hearing...

The Lord is allowing the nation to feel the tremor of shaking to let it know that its foundations are eroding under its feet. God gave us a divine reprieve from judgment when He intervened in our last election. A reprieve is a delay of a sentence.
Is God speaking in this shaking? Our we being reminded that the hour of divine mercy, under the era of Trump's presidency, is dependent on a response to this mercy? If that response does not become manifest, should we not be concerned that time is running out?
Trump's enemies have become so focused and energized, and his defenders so intimidated and silenced, that one can only wonder if 2020 can be won. It is at best a 50-50 proposition.
Many Believers anticipated a different result in the mid-terms, a "red wave." I didn't. I said, "We are a house divided," and that is what this will look like. I was correct. We are operating as a nation under a reprieve and that suspension of judgment is not subject to our election cycle. The point is—we do not know how long this mercy will last.

I am hearing God say that this shaking will continue. It will multiply in intensity and will produce an increasing desire for stability and a cry for sanity, but the storm will only increase.
As in the Days of Jonah
It is as the days of Jonah. The servant of God was on the ship, hiding out as it were, and he was going in the wrong direction. Jonah was not only subject to the great storm, but he was the object of the great storm. One comment to this post (on Facebook) said, "God so loved the world, not just America." True, but as America goes, so goes the world. We are the one power holding other powers in a temporary check. (Photo via Wikipedia)
We keep open the sea lanes for global trade and keep China from gobbling up the Asian Pacific Rim. We hold Iran back from its stated agenda of wiping Israel off the map. We hold back North Korea. That is why all Hell is focused on the United States.
Those on this boat today will continue to seek to blame and explain what is happening. They will blame this group and that group. They will continue to "cry out to their gods" and for many of them, it is a political messiah they seek.
You will not be exempt.
Running From Your Assignment?
There will be increased hostility against the people of God. It will continue to find its way into the discourse of your enemies, and they will say you are the problem. We will become controversial and driven by our hiding. And indeed Jonah was part of the problem, but not in the way they thought.
Can't You Talk Louder, God?
The storm grew because Jonah was not doing what he was called to do.
He was called to preach and speak and warn the people of Nineveh. But rather than cooperate, he was running from his real assignment and trying to avoid his responsibility. Like so many preachers who are building their audience and expanding their reach to enlarge their own house, we are going in the wrong direction in a time of national crisis.
The truth about Jonah is that he did not like the people of Nineveh. He felt they deserved God's judgment. He did not want to be among them.
God, on the other hand, wanted to see Nineveh spared judgment—but that would not happen without a word of judgment and the engagement of His people.
Jonah Was Cast out of the Ship
For too long the Church and many name-recognized ministries have been focused on their own business. They say that they are doing what God called them to do, but in truth, they are self-absorbed. And when I say "they" I include myself in this examination. We have tried to ignore the storm and avoid stormy topics. We have been building our house while God's project, the nation, His House, is coming apart.
That is about to change. We're not going to fit in so comfortably in the days ahead. The time of courting the approval of the world will soon end. They will no longer be cordial with us. They will cast us out of the ship.

And that is when we will wrestle our way into the repentance necessary to deliver the word we are called to give. Indeed, the wrestling has already begun. There is no doubt, people are praying. When God's people cry out, God answers by sending a messenger.

I know not what big fish God is preparing, but I do know the fish is a picture for the place we end up as we come to terms with obeying God. And miraculously, the fish will position you to enter Nineveh.

The storm is real, the reprieve is real, mercy wants to avoid judgment, and this moment is as the days of Jonah.

In What Season Do You Find Yourself?
Defining how you function in your current season of assignment will clarify your message and its application and help you lead others to the destination of a promise. To describe a season, I will use the metaphor of the westward expansion of the United States during the 1800s. In that expansion, three unique assignments were present – scouts, pioneers and settlers. Each one played a critical role in the settling of the United States, and if properly understood, these unique roles have an important application for us today as we invite segments of our culture to experience a God-birthed destiny.
The westward expansion metaphor is close to my heart. Shortly after arriving in Medford, Oregon almost 20 years ago, I found out my relatives were on the first wagon train into the Rogue Valley in 1846. I discovered that information after visiting a local museum and noting on the manifest of the Applegate Wagon Train that one of the pioneers listed was Alphonso Boone, the grandson of the historical figure, Daniel Boone.
I am a nephew of Daniel Boone. My mother's maiden name was Boone. It was an emotional discovery to realize God had positioned me in a small town where part of my history was waiting to be discovered. I later found out I had other relatives from the Boone family buried in the historic pioneer cemetery less than a mile from our home.
As the Church explores the subject of reformation, the unique role of those early explorers takes on new meaning. We can learn a great deal from those who went before us into new and unfamiliar places. (Photo via Unsplash)
When we ask people to consider something new in God's Kingdom and invite them to make a journey with us into the unexplored landscape of a fresh revelation, this metaphor will take on a personal application.
Scouts Explore and Persuade
The journey westward in the 1800s began with scouts heading out alone to discover a previously unexplored route leading to a new frontier. Scouts found safe passage through dangerous mountain passes and across swollen rivers. Returning from their exploratory venture, they invited people to make that same journey to pioneer a new land. Based on the intelligence the scout gathered, those who followed would experience far less jeopardy in the journey under their care and guidance.
In a spiritual context, scouts explore the expanding frontier of a fresh revelation where an apostolic blueprint is being considered. This is what John the Baptist did when he cried out from the wilderness, announcing the approaching Kingdom of God in the person of Jesus Christ. It is what Paul did when he returned from his missionary journeys and gave a report.
Can't You Talk Louder, God?
By the power and conviction of the Holy Spirit, scouts persuade and challenge the status quo. They extend an invitation similar to the invitation a scout would offer bands of wagons gathering in the Midwest, waiting for someone to lead them on their perilous westward journey. Scouts present pioneers with the details of an explored route and inspire those listening to entertain the risk required to move forward.
Pioneers Learn Survival Skills
The second group are the pioneers. They are the first to follow the intelligence gathered by a scout. Most wagon journeys began in the spring allowing the pioneers to travel during the summer months. The timing was critical because pioneers would need to arrive at their destination in the early fall before the winter storms came. Once they arrived, they would only have a few weeks to construct crude cabins to survive their first winter in an untamed wilderness.
Their courage against seemingly impossible odds was stunning. I've read accounts of how their clothing and shoes had either worn out or rotted off their bodies in the journey. They learned from mountain men and indigenous people how to make clothing and moccasins from animal skins. In many cases, they lived in these garments for a year or two until traders arrived with new clothing to sell.
During the journey and upon their arrival in an untamed wilderness of a fresh revelation, spiritual pioneers must learn how to survive the first season in a fresh revelation. Everything is immediate to a pioneer. They are surrounded by on-going threats to their survival. Like the children of Israel entering the Promised Land, a place of promise is not immune from hardship. It was hard for the early pioneers in the American West and it is a challenge for present-day pioneers. Some ways of thinking we bring with us at the start of our journey will either wear out or get discarded along the way to lighten our load. Once we arrive at our destination we need to be clothed with new ways of thinking and new methods of operation to prosper and endure. (Photo via Pixabay)
Settlers Create Culture and Community
All revelation must mature in its application. Without that maturity, our presence will not be sustainable, and our influence will eventually die off from exposure to the harsh elements and exhaustion.
A pioneer must make a transition, becoming a settler so the future fullness of the promise can be experienced. Having survived their first winter, settlers began to build community and culture. They created social structures, government, housing, transportation, and trade. Those elements would lead to the long-term socio-economic health of the community, and as a result, those institutions would create a positive and stable influence on following generations.
These three unique assignments of scout, pioneer, and settler are present in any fruitful enterprise whether it is the fulfillment of the Great Commission, starting a business, establishing a new direction for civil government or an artist exploring a new genre. There may be times when we actually move between all three of these roles as our vision or mission changes direction in the journey. The clarity of knowing in which season we are currently assigned goes a long way in helping us prosper and finish well in our Kingdom assignment.(To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

In the wake of more mass shootings in cities across the nation, there is a rising anxiety and uncertainty among many. Whether these attacks come from terrorists, home-grown criminals, or desperate prodigals with a point to prove, violence is on the rise. But now is not the time to give in to this fear! Rather, we must press into prayer and raise up even more local prayer watches to blanket our cities with intercession.
The Bowls Are About to Tip!
The powers of the air recognize that the prayers of the saints have been getting through to the throne! Our intercession has been filling the bowls and stirring Heaven to come to the earth and the enemy knows it. The reality is that God is about to pour out His glory across the earth, bringing the true FEAR OF THE LORD upon this land, and Hell is running scared. All the powers of darkness are about to be exposed for what they truly are. They are making a last-ditch effort to release a demonic terror in hopes that we will be distracted and give in to a fear that is not of God.
Where the fear of the Lord is Heaven-sent to awaken our spirits to the majesty and holiness of God, the terror of Hell seeks to destroy our faith and kill our purpose and destiny. What we see happening in many of these horrific attacks is the devil's preemptive attack to the fear of the Lord that is coming. But, we can do something about it. (Photo via Unsplash)
We must stand by those who are suffering from these attacks with our love, support, and prayers, and we must also take our positions in the watchtowers of our communities for the days ahead. We must take the offense in securing our cities for the Kingdom by praying with others in agreement for the spiritual and natural protection of the Lord. Our corporate alignment is key to secure our cities and establish spiritual walls of protection.
Let's pray for God's presence to become a wall of fire around our communities and for the fear of the Lord to permeate every street in our neighborhoods. I urge you to join with other Believers around you and BUILD A WALL OF FIRE AROUND YOUR CITY!
"'And I will be to her a wall of fire all around,' declares the Lord, 'and I will be the glory in her midst.'" (Zechariah 2:5 ESV)
A Prayer Guide
Here is a simple PRAYER GUIDE that you can use for your own community as you stand with others on the wall of intercession.
1. Lift up praise and worship over the city.
"Extol the Lord, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion. He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you." (Psalm 147:12-13(Photo via Unsplash)
• Magnify the name of Jesus above all other names (Luke 10:17; Philippians 2:9-11).
• Declare His Lordship in your community and region (2 Kings 19:19; Psalm 50:23).
• Read Psalms of praise to displace any voices of darkness (Psalm 33, 35, 65, and 67).
2. Declare your home and community to be a dwelling place for God's presence.
"'And I Myself will be a wall of fire around it,' declares the Lord, 'and I will be its glory within.'" (Zechariah 2:5)
• Celebrate the light of His presence which brings strength and favor (Psalm 89:15-17).
• Praise Him for His presence which disarms the enemy (Psalm 31:20; Exodus 33:14).
• Thank God for His presence which prevents any deception or falsehood from taking hold (Psalm 101:7).
• Invite the fear of the Lord to rest upon your community (Psalm 34:7; Isaiah 8:13-14).
Can't You Talk Louder, God?
3. Call for unity in the Church and oneness of spirit among spiritual leaders.
"...Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your name, the name You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one."(John 17:11)
• Pray that the hearts of leaders would be drawn together by a oneness of spirit (Ephesians 4:16; Galatians 3:26-28).
• Pray that doctrinal differences would give way to demonstrating the power of the Gospel (2 Chronicles 30:12; 1 Corinthians 1:10).
• Pray that a unified voice would arise from the city, reflecting the Father's heart and will (Romans 15:5-6).
• Pray that Believers would be drawn together in the power of covenant community (Acts 18:9-10).
4. Disarm any plans of the enemy to cause harm or injury to people or property.
"...Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's." (2 Chronicles 20:15)

"The Brightest Lights Have Appeared During the Darkest Times"
Rick Joyner, Fort Mill, SC

When Jesus was asked about the signs of the end of the age in Matthew 24 and Luke 21, He described the general conditions that have now come upon us and gave us three things to do:
1) Stand up.
2) Look up.
3) Rejoice!
 Stand Up

These are the three main things that we should set our hearts to do each day. We must stand up for what we believe with courage and boldness. We do this by looking up to see the One who is on the throne above all rule, authority, and dominion. If we see Him as He is and where He sits, we will rejoice knowing with certainty that His Kingdom is coming and His will is going to be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. This "joy of the Lord" will be our strength.

It is our first duty to take a stand for the Lord and His truth. We must never retreat before the enemies of the Cross. We must resolve that we will not stop fighting until the entire earth and all it contains serves the Lord. He has paid the full price for it, and it is His. As soldiers of the Cross, it is our duty to stand resolutely for what belongs to our King.

We have the strength and boldness to do this when we put our faith in Him, seeing who He is and where He sits above all authority, power, and dominion. To be those who live by seeing Him as He lived, and choose death over compromising what He paid such a price for. His truth is more precious than our temporary life in this world, and we must resolve that, regardless of the cost, we will stand for Him. We are here to preach the Good News of His coming Kingdom and to help prepare the way for His coming, building a highway that is His higher way.

Get Engaged

Knowing these things, how can we not rejoice regardless of how dark it may look for a time? The night gets the darkest and coldest just before the sun rises. It is during this darkest time that the stars shine the brightest. Throughout history, the brightest lights have appeared during the darkest times. We are told that the darkest times of all will be at the end of this age. So, it is then that we can expect some of the brightest stars of all, the Son of God and "the morning star"—a sure testimony that the day is about to dawn, will soon appear.

So how do we stand up as one of those lights? We get engaged. "The future belongs to those who show up."

We get engaged where the darkness is. As we are faithful in engaging in even the small things, He will give us authority over bigger matters. We get engaged attending school board meetings and county and city board meetings. We get engaged in media, education, business, sports, and entertainment.

We let our voices be heard clearly and often. We do not shrink back from confronting the darkness and resolutely standing up to it.

We do not know how much longer the darkness will last until the Son appears, but let us resolve to embrace this opportunity to stand up for the King—to stand on His Word and to make His Gospel known even against the greatest opposition. To stand against the greatest darkness is the greatest honor we could be given.

Don't Let Go of Your Peace

At the same time, being a light in the darkness is not just about standing against the darkness; it is also having and being the answer to the greatest problems. We must be solution-oriented people instead of just problem-oriented people. Our message is how bright the Light is, not how dark the evil is.

As racism rages, let us resolve to be the temple of the Lord that is a house of prayer for all races. Let us search our own hearts for any prejudice and resolve that we will not judge others by the color of their skin, but rather by the content of their character. Let us rise far above just tolerance of those who are different and determine that we will esteem these and rejoice to know them so that we can learn things we do not understand.

As hatred rages, let us resolve to grow in love, even the ultimate love that loves our enemies. Let us determine to hold to the truth that people are never our enemy, and that we do not war against flesh and blood, but against evil spiritual forces of wickedness that have captivated people. We are sent to set the people free. Fear is the biggest demonic inroad, or "gate of Hell." Perfect love casts out fear, so let us resolve to grow in the love that casts out the fears by which the devil has bound people.

We are told in Romans 16:20 that "the God of peace will soon crush satan under our feet" (emphasis mine). Two major takeaways from this is that 1) He wants to do this under our feet, and 2) it is the peace of God that crushes him. Do not ever lose His peace. Peace is the result of our faith in Him—who He is and where He sits above all rule and authority and dominion.

As we go into battle, peace is a primary weapon and our primary strategy. So let us resolve to protect it and use it to the fullest effect. In these times of rising anxiety and fear, those who walk in the peace of God will stand out as the great lights of hope that the world so desperately needs. NEVER LOSE THE PEACE OF GOD.
