God Is My Salvation - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

God Is My Salvation

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust and not be afraid.” (Isaiah 12:2, NKJV)

How often have you seen someone start a message from Scripture using a verse or two out of Lamentations?! Have you ever read Lamentations recently? Well, neither have I, until this morning.

During my daily reading of the Word of God, this month in Isaiah, I was reading chapter 12. Not only are those verses, from the Jewish prophet of the Living God of Israel, promises made to the chosen ones for that day, but also for us today who call upon the name of the Lord Yeshua. And that is why I was then led to Lamentations. I love how the Holy Spirit directs our steps, even in our reading of His eternal Word, the Torah, the Scriptures, the full Bible.

“Surely my soul remembers and is bowed down within me. This I recall to my mind,
therefore I have hope. The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

"The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I have hope in Him." The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him. It is good that he waits silently for the salvation of the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:20-26, NASU)

We had often, back in the day, sang those verses loud and clear, in proclamation mode in fact. “The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

Every morning, every noon, every evening we have the joy and extended call to us…to call on the Name of the Lord. For He is our salvation. He is our hope. He is the lovingkindness demonstrated daily as we put our trust in Jesus, Yeshua, Adonai, Yahweh, Morning Star, the great I AM. He is.

(I love the new song by Paul Wilbur on his latest CD/MP3 Forever Good -  “Call on the Name”. Check it out sometime. I even provided the link for you!)

“Then you will say on that day," I will give thanks to You, O Lord; for although You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me. "Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation."

Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation. And in that day you will say," Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that His name is exalted." Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things; let this be known throughout the earth. Cry aloud and shout for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.” (Isaiah 12:1-6, NASU)

What a promise we have, that we can stand on constantly, continually, as we walk the walk, talk the talk, and abide in His presence, whether that be in the secret place every morning during our Bible reading and prayer time, or in the midst of our daily job each of us work at. The Promise holds true - He will be with us, the daily Salvation of our soul.

In a recent youth gathering we started in our home, (primarily age 18 upward) I mentioned that many will have the “worship experience” (new fad name for it?) for an hour or two on Sunday morning, but what happens when the full worship team isn’t with you when the boss is in a foul mood, and you happen to get the brunt of his (or her) wrath on Monday?

Our experience with our Lord needs to be so deep within our soul, engrained within our emotions, that even when we are wrongly treated, falsely accused, or just plain lied about on the “job experience”, that we are still standing firm on His promises we know in our heart to be true - the solid foundation of His Word on which we stand.

The book of Lamentations and the book of Isaiah are to be just as real and impacting in our lives today as they were for those in the “days of old”.

Scripture is eternal. It was for them then, and it is certainly still is for us now. And it will be for the future. Why? Because He is the eternal Word made flesh and dwelt among us.

“The Word became a human being and lived with us, and we saw his Sh’khinah, the Sh’khinah of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14, Complete Jewish Bible)

Jesus is the Promise. He is the Word. He is the One who we can trust in, rely on, and know He is with us always – on the Saturday or Sunday morning experience, or on the Monday through Friday ones.

“Yeshua the Messiah is the same yesterday, today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, Complete Jewish Bible)

Keep looking up. Then you will see Him within.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Al Quds Day is an annual day chosen by the late Ayatollah Khomeini to call for Israel to be destroyed. Al Quds Day marches have seen displays of support for Hezbollah, an illegal, prescribed, anti-semitic terrorist organization. This year the "celebrations" are already scheduled worldwide for June 23rd.

V'ahavta - וְאָהַבְתָּ ‘…And you shall love…’ by Hadassah in Jerusalem, ISRAEL

Special Love For His People introduction!
 Hadassah in Jerusalem, ISRAEL

We are very excited to be introducing today to you Hadassah, who will be bringing another new, weekly encouraging word, directly from Israel. She and her family have become dear friends of Laurie and I, and we are happy for all of us!

On a weekly basis, you will hear her heart, feel her smile, and learn what life is like living in the Land, as the Lord God of Israel continues to bring His chosen ones back to their homeland.

Be blessed in this blessing!

וְאָהַבְתָּ    ‘…And you shall love…’
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
When asked, “What is the greatest command?” Y’shua quoted a verse which all Jewish men prayed twice a day. It is called the ‘V’ahavta’ and is the first word of the great command. It means ‘and you shall love’. The V’ahavta is part of the Sh’ma that is found in Deuteronomy 6.  Out of the 613 laws in the Torah, Y’shua said that this is the most important. It is on this command all others are built.
‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your might.’ Deuteronomy 6:5
From this command, all of our life springs- including the second greatest command to love our neighbor as ourselves. (Mark 12:31) It is central to everything we believe, practice and live for- in the big things and in the small; in the mundane and the glorious. We bring into everything the thought, the passion, and desire - that we love God with our whole being.
Since there is a tendency to forget, we have a reminder that God commanded: to ‘write these words on your doorposts’. The Mezuzah (doorpost in Hebrew) is what has developed over time to obey this command. Inside a little box attached to the right side of the doorpost is a parchment with Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21.
Coming and going we are presented with opportunities to remember, to refocus, to examine- even quickly- our love for the LORD. Even though it is a small thing- this little box on the door has the potential to work great things in our hearts.

Pentecost: The Purpose and the Commandments -Tsvi Sadan ISRAEL TODAY

Pentecost: The Purpose and the Commandments

Sunday, June 04, 2017 |  Tsvi Sadan ISRAEL TODAY
Pentecost, or Feast of Weeks, is the conclusion of Passover that took place seven weeks earlier. The two holidays are connected via the Counting of the Omer which started on the second day of Passover. The counting of 49 days represents the preparation and anticipation for the giving of the Torah, that, according to Jewish tradition, was given on Pentecost.
Following this line of thought, on Passover the people of Israel were freed from the bondage of the Egyptian slavery hence, from the physical aspect of slavery. On Pentecost, with the giving of the Torah, the people of Israel were made free from the bondage of the natural laws through obedience to the divine commandments which are in the Torah.
This perceived contradiction of law and freedom baffles Christians, many of whom have been trained to think of the Law as enslaving rather than making one free. Secular Jews also tend to think along these lines. For them the Torah takes away the freedom to live as one wishes.
But from the long-held Jewish perspective, the Pentecost marks a joyous event in which the people of Israel agreed to accept the Torah, something that shouldn't be taken for granted, given the natural reaction to the many laws that, as stated, seemingly restricts rather than extends freedom.
The contradiction between Law and freedom has occupied Jewish sages from time immemorial, and their conclusions are profound. Commenting on the physical aspect of the divine Tablets as described in Exodus 32:16 – "the tablets were God’s work, and the writing was God’s writing engraved on the tablets" – the Talmudic sage rabbi Joshua son of Levi takes advantage of the Hebrew language, and slightly changes the vowels of "engraved" to reach the conclusion that one should read "freedom" - (herut instead of harut). "Freedom on the tablets" thus have become the way in which Jews view the commandments.
How the commandments make one free was explained by the renowned scholar Yeshayahu Leibowitz, in his 1953 article, "Practical Commandments." Human beings, he reasons, can't escape the laws of nature. This means that man is bound to the "causal chain of forces … which act upon him and within him." The natural man is enslaved to the natural laws, and as such is "just like the cattle grazing in the pasture, which are also free from the Torah and Commandments; that is, from any law externally imposed.” This bondage includes will and reason. The conclusion, then, is that for man to be truly free, he must have external, divine, forces working within him; forces that are provided through the commandments.
From this perspective, for Jews to be free from their beastly nature, they must accept other laws than human laws in order to transcend nature. Israel is therefore, since the giving of the Law are under a divine unnatural law, that has the external power to elevate them to a higher state that can make them a light to the world.
