"9 Out of 10" - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

"9 Out of 10"
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

Usually when you hear of someone getting “9 out of 10”, you think it was a good thing. One hits 9 out of 10 baskets in a basketball game, or has par for the first 9 out of 10 golf holes – they have done very well.

If you were in a high school math class and you answered 9 out of 10 questions correctly on a test (pop quiz!) you’d get an A, or at least a B+. (Do they still grade that way in school? Or does everyone get a passing grade just to move them on?) Or maybe you passed your last driver’s license test at the DOT, Department of Transportation, because the one testing you gave you a hint or two, not wanting you to fail. Trust me, that happened last time I was there when I turned 60. That younger man certainly was a nice guy.

Recently I had the opportunity to bless a group of people with something I considered important. At least it was for me. Because I had put in a lot of effort to complete the project, and was excited to share it with others, I thought the response would be good. Believing that the Holy Spirit had given me the inspiration to do it in the first place, I naturally expected an acknowledgement from the recipients.

But it didn’t happen. At least not in the way or timing that I thought it would or should. Never heard from them until I asked one or two about it sometime later. Just to make sure it got to them.

Some told me that they had forgot to let me know it came. Another had a major extra job they were working on, and didn’t think more about it. Others just didn’t give it an extra thought.

Now I had a bit of the taste of what Jesus must have felt like when He experienced the following.

“Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"

So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?  Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?"  And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well." (Luke 17:11-19 NKJV)

After reading that, you probably also reacted like I did, thinking the other nine were thoughtless and totally unthankful. Why would Jesus have even bothered with them in the first place?

Even though they had just been healed from a debilitating disease, one that also attributed to the rejection they certainly received from others, they didn’t even bother to come back and thank Yeshua. They had been facing an early death, but now, after a miraculous deliverance from their sickening condition, they showed no appreciation whatsoever.

Only the one out of the 10 came back to give thanks to the Son of God. Only the one. And this guy wasn’t even in the societal class of “accepted ones” in the local area, but considered a “foreigner”, a lowly Samaritan. These were people generally ostracized and looked down by the religious Jews.

My heart has had another learning experience. Giving thanks is so vital to our spiritual health – both in giving and also receiving.

When someone does something good for you, give thanks. Do it anyway that is appropriate for the gift received. Either verbally, with a short text, a card for one who likes those, or whatever – just show your appreciation.

We are to have a thankful heart. Growing in appreciation for the goodness of the Lord and others in our lives does a great thing for our soul and spirit. The Lord blesses those who do.

Paul instructed the Colossians in his letter to the early church members, which is for our instruction too.

“And be thankful - let the Word of the Messiah, in all its richness, live in you, as you teach and counsel each other in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude to God in your hearts. That is, everything you do or say, do in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” (Colossians 3:15-17, Complete Jewish Bible)

As we grow in thanksgiving, we will see a lifting in our inner man, within our spirit. We will be letting go of an uncaring, ungrateful attitude, and receive more of the Lord’s heart of joy and peace.

Something to think about.

Love you,

"Get Ready, The Prophetic Realm Is Increasing" - Dr. Theresa Phillips

Word Of The Lord: "Get Ready!
The Prophetic Realm Is Increasing!"
Dr. Theresa Phillips, Saint Charles, IL
The Elijah List

While in prayer over 2015, the Lord burst Himself into me. I could feel the presence so very strong. I began to travail over 2015, when the Lord began to speak to me. His first words were:
"NO FEAR, CHURCH. NO FEAR!"

At that moment, I began to sense more of the prophetic coming forth. Different spheres of prophecy for many different people. I waited.

The Prophetic Realm is About to Increase in 2015

"The prophetic realm is about to increase! Some prophets will be emerging with a FRESH revelation which is in tune with Scripture that has been dormant. Yes, dormant, for I have hidden some of My Word for such a time as this," says the Lord. (Photo by Jennifer Page"My Firm Foundation" via elijahshopper.com)

"Oh yes, it's going to be an extremely insightful year packed with REVELATION ahead. Pay attention to the prophets of the WORD. These prophetic utterances will adhere to the Holy Writ while they release REVELATION to My people. Many will become saved in the releasing of the Holy Writ."

Two Types of Prophets, Plus a Warning

"Two types of prophets will emerge: "One will be filled with the precious love of GOD coupled with passion for the Word of GOD. These prophets will show no fear nor discouragement when they speak. They will be kind, reverent, and they will have blazes in their eyes, for their eyes have been seared with the written Word. They will not misuse grace nor will they abuse their place. YET they will be accurate!

The second will resemble the love of the Lord and have a revelation steeped in mysticism and legends of people of the past. They will have a quiet, subtle pride, making them exclusive...A PART from the Holy Spirit.

"By mid-2015 a FRESH wind of discernment will flow like a river and many battles will be won for those who have seen well," says the Lord, "and I shall perform the vision."

Jeremiah 1:12 Then said the LORD unto me, "Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten My word to perform it."
"Many prophetic people will begin to display outward repentance, leading many into repentance. While they openly repent, this will start a wave of evangelism this land has yet to see. It will begin in 2015."

God Will Give Many of You Rest and Joy

"In 2015, I the Lord will shut some doors of the past and open a realm of joy for the future in the NOW moment. God will give many rest. (Photo via Pixabay)

"Yes, I will wipe out your past and give you a fresh start. Do not struggle within the rest, for in it you will be getting your house in order so that you may live through the days ahead.

"Arise, My sons and daughters. Arise! Go about doing well for others and you will see that that JOY you once had will return with gusto! The JOY will return and, wow, you will be happy! VERY HAPPY! For the days of darkness will cease and springtime will emerge in the spirit of man while he rests in the BODY of GOD."
Psalm 118:15 Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: "The LORD's right hand has done mighty things!"

"During this time I will release inventions, ideas, crafts and arts, and prophecy, and music will emerge for new sound."

The Glory of God...Get Ready to Receive It!

"A new sound of GLORY is coming! I say again, a new sound of glory is coming – coming to the land of America, then abroad.

"Yes, I am pouring out this sound on America, for she has seen her woes. I have felt the Church in America feel faint and often lose heart and patience. Get ready, I am pouring out a new wave of glory to excite you once again...be ready to receive it.

"In this new glory I will release a heavenly sound. It's a new sound accompanied by the sounds of the angelic realm. They will come and minister with you, to you, and for you. They will be fire starters and make many run like the wind."

Hebrews 1:7 In speaking of the angels He says, "He makes His angels spirits, and His servants flames of fire."
"Watch, for there will be seven artists who will emerge together to make a sound. Get ready for that sound...it will be marvelous. Watch for this and enjoy what you hear and see. Yes, seven will come together. They will not all have the same background, but they will have the same heart."

A Word For the Women: "Esther-ella, Come Forth!"

"I have hidden a group who will come forth in 2015; they are 'Esther-ellas.' They are the WOMEN who have been in the background. Many will come forth, for they are now prepared to run the race, win the race, and take the reins of many different spheres of influence: the political arena, the judicial arena, the spiritual arena, the musical arenas, corporations, and more. I have called them to these places," says the Lord.

"They will hold themselves with a fresh wave of dignity. They will come forth polished, respectable, and humble.

They will all have one goal: WIN THE PEOPLE BACK TO JESUS BY VISITATION with the King.

"These women have been well prepared; they have sat, learned, and waited for SUCH A TIME AS THIS. Despise them not," says the Lord. (Photo by Donna Smallenberg "For Such a Time as This" viaelijahshopper.com)

"Esther-ella, come forth out of the ashes into the realm of the King and WIN THOSE LOST. O yes, ESTHER-ELLA, come forth! It's your time!" says the Lord.

"For there are some that will have an audience with Jesus like they never had before. They will be like the ancient ones who have been taught, caught, and released by the Word. Many have been taught by godly spiritual mothers and fathers.

"Those mothers and fathers will emerge strong, and many will seek shelter in their houses, for in their houses they will find teaching. Yes, teaching stations all across the nation with wisdom and fervor of the Lord will release the younger ones and experienced ones with GRACES, POLISH, and FINESSE, and most of ALL, an anointing dispatched from the King's own presence.

For in the teaching station many will be taught how to become kings and priests. That release will come late in 2015...a release of kings and priests, to empower a nation and nations in peril, for God is Victor and He will not hold back any longer. He wins.

"The latter end of the year will see mighty armies of the nations begin to form as if a battle is raging. I tell you, I will still this battle one more time and say to My Church, 'Arise and shine, for your time has come. I do have need of you,'" says the Lord God.

Some Scriptures to pray about:

Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
Ephesians 5:14 This is why it is said: "Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."
Isaiah 58:8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

Let us all pray for the Word of the Lord to be sure, clear, and concise, for surely we are the beloved of the Christ. Happy 2015!

Cleaning Out Closets by Elaine Tavolacci

Cleaning Out Closets

by Elaine Tavolacci

Identity Network

Every season we have to clean out our closets to change the clothes from the previous season to the new season. We have to change our apparel according to the temperature of the season that we are in. The Holy Spirit is showing me that this is time for a change of garments as many of you are coming in to a new season spiritually. Some of you have outgrown your old wardrobe and you are being measured to be refitted with new apparel.

The Lord says, adjust your apparel according to the seasons that I bring you into. Make wise choices in all that you do. Make connections with people who are spiritually stronger than yourself, who could mentor you and advise you. Connect yourself with those who will compliment you and encourage you. Never allow those who are living in compromise to pull you down to their level. Many people don't understand the place that I am taking you to, neither could they relate to that spiritual level. Do not fear the unfamiliar garments of righteousness and holiness that I am clothing you in. Don't allow old mindsets to resurface, but allow Me to continue to renew your mind. Continue to clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

New Freedom and New Joy

Then the Lord spoke to me about people having skeletons in their closets. Skeletons in your closet could refer to past memories that you prefer not to talk about with anyone, a secret sin, or something that you are hiding from others.

The Lord says; do not hide anything that will hold you back, but allow Me to release you from everything that is hindering you from advancing. Allow Me to enter into every area of your life to bring freedom and restoration. I will release you of those burdens that you have been carrying for years and bring wholeness to every area. Allow Me to bring order where there has been disorder. Allow Me to bring comfort where there has been discomfort. My love will fill those void places where there has been so much hurt and rejection. Allow Me to heal your heart that has been broken. I will abolish the fatigue and exhaustion that has been weighing you down and bring balance into every situation. Don't hoard hurtful memories of the past, but allow Me to deliver you from them.

I will restore the years that have been stolen in your life. Nothing from your past will disqualify you from My plans when you remove those obstacles from the closet. You will then forget the past with all its mistakes and I will bring you into a fresh start. Resist the temptations that will try to pull you back into your old lifestyle so that you will not become entrapped once again. I will give you beauty for ashes and the oil of joy for mourning as you release everything to Me. Trust Me to remove any obstacle that is holding you back from achieving all that you were called to do. As you allow Me to purge your closet of these garments that are weighing you down, you will experience a new freedom and joy in Me says the Lord.

Ephesians 4:20-24 But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

Colossians 3:12 Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper].

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Why God Doesn't Care if You're Happy

Why God Doesn't Care if You're Happy

man in prayer
The greatest gauge for a believer's success in life is obedience to the revealed will of God. (Matt Gruber/creationswap.com)
It is evident there are many in the body of Christ who attempt to integrate their Christian faith with the pursuit of happiness. Some have even gone so far as to have a theology of happiness, in which they obey or disobey Scripture based on what gives them the most happiness. Several years ago a prominent pastor in New York City divorced his wife and married someone else in his church because, he said, "God wants me happy!"
Ultimately, If God's highest purpose for us is our  personal happiness then He wouldn't have put us on the earth since Jesus said we would have tribulation in this world (John 16:33).
As believers, our value system should not be based on a temporal paradigm (view) of materialism and earthly significance but on an eternal paradigm based on faith and obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ. Many in the church succumb to the temporal view because it takes a walk of faith to continually surrender our desires to a God we can't see, feel, or touch physically.
In examining this subject I believe one reason believers focus so much on happiness is because of a confusion of the concepts of joy and happiness.
Joy is an inward sense of peace, contentment and even ecstasy due to our righteous standing in Christ and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Joy should be present in all believers in spite of the circumstances or challenges one might be facing. Joy is a supernatural experience that cannot be explained outside of a supernatural act of God. As the song writer said, "The world didn't give us joy so the world can't take it away!"
Jesus told His disciples that He spoke His words to them so that His joy would be in them and their joy would be full (John 15:11). It was for this reason that Paul told us to "rejoice always" (1 Thess. 5:16); even in his sorrow he was able to rejoice (2 Cor. 6:10). Also, Nehemiah 8:10 teaches us that "the joy of the Lord is our strength."
On the other hand, happiness is based on what "happens" to us. Thus, happiness is merely an emotionally good feeling when things go according to our desires. The fact that many Christians live their lives based on the pursuit of happiness–instead of cultivating the joy of the Lord in obedience to God and through faith in the blood of Christ—is an indictment of the shallow theology in our midst. This shallow theology has succumbed to the worldly ideal that equates success with material prosperity, comfort, and the ability to live a life of ease.
As a minister for over 30 years I can't count how many so-called disciples of Christ have uprooted their families from our church and moved to another state merely for economic leverage or to escape the winter season—all without hearing from God or first researching where their families could find a good church. Obviously, they were more led by a belief system based on the pursuit of happiness rather than pursuing the mind of Christ for their God-given purpose. (Of course, it goes without saying that most of these people either fell away or never maximized their purpose in Christ.)
As a follower of Christ for over 30 years, I would say more than half of the things I am called to do are very difficult—things that don't make me happy. Things like paying close attention to details, endless meetings, conflict resolution between leaders, dealing with tragedies in families, financial challenges, persevering in the ministry in spite of discouragement, and, hardest of all, the continuing challenge of dying to self and putting on the Lord Jesus Christ instead of choosing immediate pleasure and taking the easy roads presented in life.
I often tell believers, if you want to always be happy, don't get married, don't have children, don't get involved in the ministry , don't work and don't have important responsibilities –because, you will continually deal with adverse relational situations that will intrude upon your happy thoughts!
When Jesus told His disciples that He must suffer many things and spoke of His pending death and resurrection, Peter began to rebuke Him. (Perhaps Peter equated God's will with happiness at this stage of his development in Christ.) Jesus' response was so sharply opposed to Peter's perspective that He called him Satan (Mark 8:31-33)! Jesus then used this interface with Peter to teach His disciples that following God involves taking up their crosses. Following God sometimes involves suffering, not just happiness—and sometimes happiness, not just suffering.
Those who use happiness as the greatest gauge to tell if they are in the will of God have totally missed it! The greatest gauge for a believer's success in life is obedience to the revealed will of God, not fleeting emotional sensations that accompany happiness.
Finally, Paul the apostle said he was delivered from the "mouth of the lion" (Satan) when he stood defending the faith before Caesar. He then said he knew the Lord would deliver him from every evil attack, in spite of noting in this same passage his imminent martyrdom for the faith (2 Timothy 4:6-18). How could Paul, in the same sentence, say that both God would deliver him from every evil attack (verse 18) and yet also that his life would soon be taken (verse 6)? Because he knew that all of the evil satanic attacks against him were meant to stop him from obeying the Lord; it had nothing to do with happiness or living a long, comfort-filled life without conflict or pain.
May God deliver us from the false notion pervading the church that happiness is equal to godliness!

How God Reveals His Power When You Offer Praise, Thanksgiving and Joy

The only sacrifices mentioned in the New Testament are the sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving and the sacrifice of joy.
I don't know about you, but this was liberating news for me. I don't have to sacrifice by begging, confessing, memorizing prayers and Scriptures, fasting, going to all the church services, keeping a serious face all the time, or abstaining from certain things. God loves us and He loves our worship and praise and our thanksgiving and joy.
To sacrifice is to offer something to God. To sacrifice means, "to give up something of value, to make an offering, to surrender, to kill, to give up, to dedicate, consecrate, devote, and to benefit." A sacrifice will cost your time, focus, killing the flesh, surrendering your will for a higher cause. The benefit we receive can never be calculated. Every sacrifice we make is compensated and backed up by all of God's promises and treasures.
When we bring our sacrifices of praise, thanksgiving and joy to God, we are telling Him that we wish to die to our own desires and knowledge, and we desire to love and trust Him completely.
It is in the holy atmosphere of praise and worship that healing, miracles and transformation of the soul begin to manifest, and God's glory starts cleansing and changing our carnal nature into the nature and character of Christ.
We are literally praying with our heart, soul and spirit. The result is always an impartation of God's infinite blessings, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. When you truly understand this truth you will begin to regain and restore all that Satan has stolen from you. Demons cannot resist the praise of the children of God.
When you feel discouraged, and a spirit of confusion tries to invade your thinking, if you begin to offer a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving you will find that the peace of God will cover you as a shield of protection and the angel of the Lord will encamp all around you and deliver you (see Ps. 34:7).
Two years ago I was in Mexico with my husband waiting at a stoplight, when suddenly the side door of our van was abruptly opened and a gunman thrust a gun into the driver's face demanding that he give him jewels and cash. He flashed the gun at my husband and me also, demanding that we strip of jewels and cash. The light was still red and he wanted us to quickly obey his commands before the light turned green. He managed to get away with two watches, and though he demanded that I take off my jewels, I was miraculously unable to take off my diamond earrings and wedding rings. The light changed, and the assailant was gone.
We were told that many had died in the middle of traffic in similar situations, but our lives were protected by divine intervention. I immediately realized that on that same morning I had offered a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving and declared, "No weapon formed against us shall prosper."
God protects His children from all manner of situations, attacks, and accidents. We should never leave the house without offering a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. We cannot be afraid to pray with boldness, even if our knees are shaking. Our actions will determine the outcome of every situation.
Joy means, "delight, pleasure, enjoyment, bliss, ecstasy, elation, happiness, joyfulness, thrill, wonder, triumph and jubilation." The sacrifice of joy is the most difficult sacrifice to offer to God. When you're sad and afflicted, going through storms and difficulties in life, or when sickness afflicts our bodies, then it becomes a real sacrifice to lift our voices and offer a sacrifice of joy. But let me share a secret with you.
The Bible says that the joy of the Lord is our strength (Neh. 8:10). Strength is power. Strength is emotional toughness and resistance. Strength is defensive ability. Strength is effectiveness to succeed and achieve. Strength makes you progressively better. We offer this type of sacrifice singing melodies, dancing, reciting psalms, and declaring aloud those things that are not as though they are, smiling, laughing, clapping our hands, and rejoicing in what the Lord says about us.
Every morning I feel God's goodness invade my atmosphere. My home is peaceful. Healing greets every visitor. God is a merciful Father and desires to bless you with healing and wholeness. It is by His grace (kindness, blessing, mercy, generosity, divine favor) that we receive all good things. Grace is a gift. God desires our love. He wants to passionately love us. The more we draw closer to the Holy Spirit, the more we learn to love God with all our heart. Father God wants to shower us with an outpouring of His miraculous healing and blessings.
Offer Him the sacrifice of praise, thanksgiving and joy and see what He does in your life.

 PRAYER POWER:
This week take time in your personal walk to consciously offer the Lord your praise, thanksgiving and joy-especially during this busy time. Allow the Lord's peace to permeate every aspect of your life and carry it with you wherever you go. Thank Him for ordering your steps and ask Him to invade your atmosphere to reflect His presence when you reach out to those in need. Remember President Obama and those working with him concerning our major security and financial issues. Continue to pray for our military and Israel during this volatile time. Neh. 8:10

Those Who Sow in Tears Shall Reap in Joy by Elaine Tavolacci

Those Who Sow in Tears

Shall Reap in Joy

by Elaine Tavolacci

Identity Network

A few days ago I found $126.00 folded up in the street. It was such an exceptionally windy day that I couldn't understand how this money didn't blow away. As "spiritually inquisitive" as I am, I knew that there was a deeper meaning behind it and that God was up to something.

When I went home I looked up Psalm 126. The Holy Spirit immediately gave me this word. Those of you who have been sowing in tears for such a long time are about to reap in joy.
The Lord says, the time of weeping is coming to an end, and a time of rejoicing will begin. For those of you who have been burdened for so long, your mouths will surely be filled with laughter, and your tongues with songs of joy.

I am about to release you from the weights and the cares that have been weighing you down. I am releasing you from the burdens and the hardships that you have encountered. You will learn how to make the adversity drive you deeper into your purpose and destiny rather than bring you into despair.

Don't allow discouraging thoughts to imprison you any longer, but allow Me to turn everything around for good. You have not been created to carry burdens but I have created you to be a carrier of My glory. As you spend time in My presence allow it to overtake you and let My joy be your strength.

Released and Free

As you continue to press in and take Me for My word even through difficult times, you will soon encounter this time of rejoicing. I will release you from the hurtful memories from the past that brought pain and sorrow.

will set you free from the things that war against your soul that brought fear and confusion. This is a time of refreshing to those of you who have been weary. Don't allow anything to restrain you from this joy set before you. Don't allow anything to hinder you from receiving all that is available to you.

Allow Me to fill you with this joy and peace. Allow Me to bring comfort to your soul. I will give you beauty for ashes and the oil of joy for mourning so that you will live in peace and victory. As you cast your cares on Me and trust Me, I will bring prosperity and contentment in all areas back into your life says the Lord.

Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 30:11-12 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

Psalm 126 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for them." The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.

Restore our fortunes, Lord, like streams in the Negev. Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
