The Key to Wise Decisions—It's Not as Complicated as You Think

TIM CAMERON  CHARISMA MAGAZINE  SPIRITLED WOMAN
How do we approach the Lord when we have a big decision to make? Do we pray for many hours? Do we fast? Do we seek counsel? With the challenge of choosing the twelve disciples, the particular time selected by Christ to pray is meant to be a lesson to all of us. He had a decision to make that would resound throughout history. The decision coming the next day required perfect communication and unity with His Father. Can you see the great oneness of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in this decision? Can you grasp the depth of unity the Lord is asking us to enter with our fellow believers?
Jesus prayed the whole night (see Luke 6:12-16). He set an example that we should follow. In great emergencies in our life, when we have duties with boundless consequences or we are about to face encounters with severe complications, we should seek divine blessing and direction by an unusual portion of time for prayer. Our Savior did it. We should follow in His footsteps.
People in the business world will sometimes spend hours in strategic planning, goal setting and marketing plan development, even if it takes all-night sessions. Why should it seem strange Christians spend an equal portion of time in the far more important business of prayer that has eternal significance? We need our minds renewed. We need to see the great necessity for prayer.
Jesus was completely a man, but He was also completely God. We can ask, "Why would Jesus pray?" As a man He had the same needs that we have—He needed divine support, strength and blessing. The mystery here is that there was no more contradiction in His praying than there was in His drinking or eating. Both are consistent with who He was while here on this earth.
We pray for a lot of things. Mostly we pray for things we need (or think we need). We pray for the forgiveness of our sins. But Jesus had no sin. He was tempted, but He did not fall into temptation. There was no backsliding on His part. "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors" (Matt. 6:12) is an appropriate prayer for us, but He didn't need it for Himself. Paul describes this inner struggle that each of us face: "O wretched man that I am!" (Rom. 7:24a). But Jesus didn't experience this. He had guarded His heart from sin and the enemy: "The ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over Me" (John 14:30). The enemy had no way to find entrance into Christ's heart.
The mystery: He was divine, yet He was tempted just like us. He was perfect, yet He was a man. He needed to pray all night on occasion, particularly on this occasion; His humanity compelled Him to pray. Jesus was fully human, mentally and emotionally. He sought the Father's wisdom, setting a profound example for us. If Jesus, who while fully human was also fully God, needed to pray for wisdom, how much more do we need to follow His example?
Jesus frequently prayed before significant events. He called upon God the Father to be in compete communion with Him in choosing the Twelve. He called on the Father and the Holy Spirit for more understanding. He wanted to be in total unity with the Father and the Holy Spirit in the choosing of the disciples. The example is clear for us if we have spiritual eyes to see: Christ wants us to grow in spiritual understanding and in the knowledge and application of His Word, but we must submit all that we are to His Spirit. We must commune with Him every day to know His will for our lives in all situations.
It is in the secret place with God where we learn from Him. By the Lord's matchless grace given to us, we can live every day and make every decision in concert with His will for our lives. We can fellowship with Christ so intimately in the secret place that we can understand His will for our lives and be empowered by His Spirit to walk it out.

Why Should I Be a Watchman for Israel? - James W. Goll - Identity Network

Why Should I Be a Watchman for Israel?

By James W. Goll   Identity Network
As followers of Jesus Christ, we serve as watchmen for the people of God, whoever they may be, even the ones who do not yet identify themselves as the people of God. God asks volunteer watchmen like you and me to shoulder a burden for the Jewish people and for all of the descendants of Abraham.

God's plan is to bring Jews alongside Gentiles (non-Jews) into full saving knowledge of Christ. He wants to win over Jews, Arabs, Chaldeans, and all residents of the Middle East to His Son. The day will come - and we have a key part in hastening it - when "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea" (Habakkuk 2:14, NASB).

A Call to Intercede

Did you know that Jerusalem is the only city named in the Bible that we are supposed to pray for? It is true.

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.'  For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, 'Peace be within you.' Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good."Psalm 122:6-9, NKJV

For decades, I have been heavily involved in prayer for Israel and the Jewish people. Millennia of history, biblical prophecies fulfilled and yet to be fulfilled, historical conflicts between people groups in the Middle East that continue to boil over to this day.

Above, I quoted from Psalm 122 because I believe those words capture the heart of God toward the Jewish people (whom He called the apple of His eye in Zechariah 2:8), as well as toward Jerusalem, the beleaguered capital city of the nation of Israel. It may be hard to believe, but God wants peace to prevail in that beautiful and battle-weary city.

Jerusalem and the nation of Israel are like God's ticking clock; we can set our watchmen's timers by what we observe there. What is God doing with His people now? Why has this latest conflict erupted? Is nobody safe? Who can discern the right path? How can we pray as we watch?

Discerning the Times

As watchmen-intercessors, we must dedicate ourselves to seeking Gods heart and mind so that we can pray according to His will. We do not hide our heads in the sand and ignore the troubling issues of the times we live in.

In the Old Testament we read about the sons of Issachar, who were "men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do" (1 Chronicles 12:32, NASB). The sons of Issachar have come to represent all people who seek to discern the times they live in, and who make their decisions based on the discerning wisdom that God gives them.
When praying for the Jewish people, we must understand what God is saying from three perspectives:
  • His promise to save all of Israel and bring it into His fullness. (See Zechariah 12:10-11; Romans 11:12, 15, 26.)
  • The fact that the Jewish people have a temporary "spirit of blindness" regarding Jesus as the Messiah. (See Matthew 13:13-15; Romans 11:7-10, 25-28.)
  • The promise that this spirit of blindness will be removed when "the fullness of the Gentiles" occurs. (See Luke 21:24; Romans 11:25-26.)
The Jewish people will be won over by the love of the Gentile Church (see Matthew 25:40). Because we "wild olives" have been grafted into the original tree, we have no excuse for arrogance (see Romans 11:17-22).

Now Satan is not ignorant of this plan; it has been announced by prophets and proclaimed in public places for millennia. Thus he stirs up anti-Semitism and causes destruction. The enemy figures that if he can eliminate the people of Israel from the face of the earth, he will win.

As watchmen, we must be careful not to take all of our cues from the daily news or from political sources. The ever-shifting situation mirrors the malicious advances of Satan's unseen forces. In the midst of the confusion, only watchmen with spiritual discernment can see well enough in the dark to sound the right alarm at the correct time.

The Church as Watchmen

The apostle Paul (Jewish from birth) wrote to the Roman church (which was almost entirely Gentile) to explain much of God's plan for the people of Israel. He wanted them (and us) to know that, even though the Jewish people have refused to acknowledge one of their own, Jesus, as the Son of God and Messiah, there is still hope - and it lies with the Gentiles. As he explained, evidently the Jewish Messiah embraced the Gentiles in part to make the Jews "jealous" (see Romans 11:11). The Gentiles, who have been "grafted" into God's family tree, need to know that God wants to graft the natural branches back into His family tree; He wants "all Israel to be saved" (Romans 11:26, and see Romans 11:24).

Consequently, the Gentile Church has a call to fulfill. The worldwide Church must intercede for God's purposes to be accomplished in Israel and wherever else Jewish people are found. The Gentile Church must support the people of Israel with compassion and energy, embracing them as brothers. The Jewish prophet Isaiah wrote: "The Lord God, who gathers the dispersed of Israel, declares, 'Yet others I will gather to them, to those already gathered'" (Isaiah 56:8, NASB).

The Body of Christ on the earth, are watchman on the walls as depicted in Isaiah 62:6-7. Historically, the Church has failed to fulfill this mission. Just think of the relatively recent horrors of the Holocaust of World War II. In retrospect, we deplore the Spanish Inquisition, but the Church still has the bloodstains on her hands. Anti-Semitism still influences critical decisions and derails efforts to introduce the people of God to their Savior. While Jesus is known as the Prince of Peace, the Church has too often demonstrated the opposite spirit, trampling on unbelievers in every generation.

Where is our love? Where is our wisdom? What has happened to the grace and mercy of God? Can we rise to the challenge of turning our own Body around even as we begin to do a better job of looking out for our Jewish brethren?

Overcoming the Spirit of Haman - Mordecais Needed

It is as if the evil spirit of Haman never left the earth when he met his rightful end on the gallows of King Artaxerxes. We may well be destined to relive the story of Esther in our own generation. So I want to urge all of you as Mordecai-watchmen to watch carefully, and then to act wisely.

You will remember the story as it is told in the book of Esther. Esther's strategic victory is celebrated to this day by the Jewish people in the feast of Purim. But she would not have been able to do anything without the sage advice of her guardian Mordecai, who was her spiritual authority. He watched in the gate, discovered a plot against the Jews, and told Esther about it. In other words, without Mordecai, there would be no book of Esther. An entire population of Jews would have been annihilated.

Mordecai intercepted the intelligence about Haman's evil scheme, and he revealed it wisely to the right parties. Esther employed all of her courage and charm. God made sure that the king read the right document in the middle of the night. And all was saved.

The connections with current events are clear: The anti-Semitic Haman spirit still roves around, seeking to annihilate the Jews. The Church (Esther) may or may not be ready. We need the Mordecai-watchmen to step up with the right words at the right time. Only Mordecai could spot the danger, and only Mordecai-watchmen can inform the Church before it is too late for the Jewish people.

Together, Mordecai and Esther are their only hope. Jews today rightly celebrate Purim as a mighty historic victory, but the genocidal anti-Semitic Haman spirit has actually returned - bringing reinforcements. It is time for a corporate Esther to arise for such a time as this.

Watching Together

Most of us are Gentiles - grafted-in as non-Jewish believers. But we can still be watchmen and women on the walls of Jerusalem, praying in conjunction with the "gatekeepers," those who have the authority to act for good or for evil. No intercessor can tackle this assignment solo. You must watch together with like-minded others, and you must be quick to identify for the leaders on the ground what you see from the top of the wall.

We are living in a time of awakening and activation. Some of us will pray and fast. Some of us will find ourselves engaged in direct evangelism. Others will be tested socially or financially when we decide to identify more fully with our Jewish brethren. But we all must pray without ceasing and proclaim that the ancient prophetic promises will find their fulfillment within our lifetimes.

Remember that the power of prayer does not come from the power of the individual who is praying, but rather from the One who hears the prayers and acts. His power is immeasurable - and it is directed entirely toward good ends. "Righteousness and justice are the foundation of [His] throne. Unfailing love and truth walk before [him] as attendants" (Psalm 89:14, NLT). Our part is to pray and obey, because "The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" (James 5:16, NIV).

God has chosen watchman for different purposes and positions on His Wall. Where are you in God's purposes as a sacrificial watchman?  Will you be found Watching for the Apple of God's Eye?

At a time when it seems like everyone wants to focus on personalities and personal feelings, the truth is that we are fighting principalities and powers and evil spirits that are set in high places over our nation that have an agenda to steal, kill and destroy all that is good and godly(Ephesians 6:12).
If you have been aware at all of all the prophetic indications about our recent election, then you have an understanding that we are living in a time of distinct "divine reversal" and a Cyrus decree. If you remember it is in the books of Isaiah, Ezra and Nehemiah that we find the story of Israel's demise into captivity because of their sin and the abandonment of God and His laws.
The children of God ended up in a dark and desperate place in bondage to foreign powers that had invaded their land and taken them captive.
It was in those times that God began to remind Israel of their true calling and covenant and called them back to possess their land and inheritance.
They found themselves in bondage and slavery in Babylon; but in Isaiah 45, God prophesied through His prophets the very name of the man that would conquer the land in a surprising attack through the double gates, and then release the decrees that would authorize them to return to their land, rebuild the temple, and rebuild the city.
In history, we know that Cyrus dammed up the river Euphrates that flowed into Babylon and marched through the double gates of the river into Babylon and conquered it. We know that the prophet Daniel was stationed there in Babylon by God and probably opened the scrolls of Isaiah to Cyrus, so he could discover that this feat was no accident but a fulfillment of the prophetic word that foretold his very name and the mission he was called to accomplish for God.
I believe we are living in a parallel to those very times today.
"Thus says the Lord to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—to subdue nations before him and loose the armor of kings, to open before him the double doors, so that the gates will not be shut." (Isaiah 45:1 NKJV)
The Cyrus Decree
"Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord God of Heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah.
"Who is among you of all His people? May his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel (He is God), which is in Jerusalem. And whoever is left in any place where he dwells, let the men of his place help him with silver and gold, with goods and livestock, besides the freewill offerings for the house of God which is in Jerusalem." (Ezra 1:1-4 NKJV)
"Be ready to fight and God will fight with us, and we will rebuild the temple."
This is what we call the "Cyrus Decree". It is interesting that Cyrus was not a Jew or necessarily a God-fearing man, but a shrewd conqueror that God calls, "My anointed"; not because he was so godly but because he was anointed by God to be powerfully used to bless the people of God during his reign. I'm sure all that he did and instituted was not pleasing to all of Israel, but the significant divine reversals he brought to their plight made the difference for generations to come.
So what did Cyrus do? His main mission from God was to free God's people from captivity and pass legislation that would authorize them and empower them to repossess their land, rebuild the temple and rebuild the city. He unlocked the money, manpower and legislative authority to go and rebuild the temple and the city.
I believe rebuilding the temple has everything to do with the restoration and reformation of the Church in the earth in our generation—restoring the Church to its original call to operate in the power and character of Jesus Himself, so it can rightly represent His heart and purposes in the earth. Restoring the "walls of the city" has everything to do with rebuilding the culture and addressing the ills of society in our generation.
This is emblematic of the prophetic and apostolic anointing, operating in concert in the Church and in the earth, to tear down the idolatrous and false and build the blessing of God's Kingdom call and covenant back into our land today (Jeremiah 1). God used Cyrus as the key conqueror and government official to unlock the land, and if you will, Nehemiah and Zerubbabel were the apostles of the work, and Jeremiah, Ezra, Haggai, Isaiah and Zechariah were the key prophetic voices that released the words which caused the work to advance.
"So the elders of the Jews built, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the command of Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia." (Ezra 6:14 NKJV)
What Did Cyrus Do?
What did Cyrus do to help in this strategic plan from God?  Specifically, it says that Cyrus restored three things. He issued commands that helped Israel restore the judges, the teachers and the fathers of the land. It was this strategy that eventually turned the tide of the nation. (Photo via Wikipedia)
The Judges: were key to releasing righteous judgment back into the systems and culture of the land. The judges were to help relay the foundational principles so that justice and order, according to God's word and law, could prevail in the land.
What happens through our Supreme Court justices, federal judges and local judges will determine the course of our culture for a generation.
The Teachers: were key to turn the tide of iniquity, idolatry and depravity and reversed the effect of the mindset of captivity in the land. A generation had grown accustomed to the ways of Babylon and grown comfortable and fatalistic to the reality of captivity. Hopelessness, compromise and comfortability with captivity, had captured their hearts. God was releasing a decree through Cyrus for the opportunity to take back the systems of education of a generation that had led them into bondage.
What happens in our academic and educational systems, both public and private, will set the tone of the values and morals of a generation.
The Fathers: had to be restored in order for true healing to happen in the land. The true father's heart had to be released so that a generation could be healed from abandonment, rejection and dysfunction. Cyrus authorized and enabled Israel to restore the judges, the fathers and the teachers back into the land, so that the curse could be broken and the blessings of God would flow again (Malachi 4:5).
The fathers in our government, in family, in business and in the Church can lead our land into healing or Hell. Restoring back and setting in those with the true father's heart in our generation will bring sorely needed security, stability, true identity, courage and healing to our land.

Conflict, Controversy, Confusion and Counter Attacks Arise
This is all exciting and wonderful stuff, however, where I believe we are living today is described in chapter 4 of Nehemiah. If we look at this chapter, we see that the Cyrus reversal had begun for the people of God and Nehemiah, and the prophets began to work with this fresh authorization from the government to restore and build. However, I want you to notice that it was not without great conflict.
First of all, let me note that reformation is often messy, complicated and full of conflict. That was true of reformation in Jesus' day in the first reformation. It was definitely true during the 2nd Reformation in Martin Luther's day. (I do find it significant that we are celebrating the 500th-year anniversary of that reformation this month of October 2017.) This was definitely also true in Nehemiah's day and in our day as well: what happened when the people began to operate to rebuild under the new Cyrus decree in their generation?
A Mocking Spirit
It says when the enemies in the land heard of it that they were furious, very indignant and mocked the Jews (Nehemiah 4:1). This is where we are today.
The resistant, antichrist spirits in our land are furious and indignant at the results of this last election and the reversals of agendas in the land, and one of their main tools they are using is a "mocking spirit" sent to humiliate all those called to carry out this agenda.
They mocked them with words like, "What are these feeble Jews (Christians) doing? Really, will they be able to protect and fortify themselves? Will they restore service and sacrifice to God? Will they be able to build this in a day?" Or, "How long will this take, they can't get anything done or make progress. If they do restore or rebuild the foundation and the walls, then even if a fox goes up on it then it will fall." In other words, "It will not work, or be lasting or stand."
These are the words we are hearing today. Please try and be discerning today as we navigate through so many voices vying for our attention. Scripture does not say that we will live by every tweet from leaders and certainly not by every word that proceeds out of the talking mouths of CNN or our national news media, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God!
False Accusations
"We are living in a time of distinct "divine reversal" and a Cyrus decree"
We know in Ezra 4, that they tried to dishearten and discourage the people of God by falsely accusing them about their motives and making them out to be the problem in the land. They hired lawyers to try and stop the work and frustrate their purpose in rebuilding.
"Then the people of the land tried to discourage the people of Judah. They troubled them in building, and hired counselors against them to frustrate their purpose." (Ezra 4:4-5a NKJV)
• Their Prayer to God
In response to all these attacks, this is what the people of God prayed:
"Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity! Do not cover their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before You; for they have provoked You to anger before the builders. So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work." (Nehemiah 4:4-6 NKJV)
• Our Prayer to God Today
I believe this must be the type of prayer the Church is praying in this hour:
"God, we are despised in the sight of our enemies but turn the reproach back upon their own heads and turn our captivity as you bring them into captivity! Uncover the schemes and sins of our enemies and fight for us out of your righteous indignation! Lord, we have a mind to work to rebuild and restore the righteous foundations in our nation so that it and we might be blessed by Your hand!"
Even after this prayer, it says that the enemy gets even more angry when they see the restoration in the land taking place.
"Now it happened, when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry, and all of them conspired together to come and attack Jerusalem and create confusion. Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night.
"Then Judah said, 'The strength of the laborers is failing, and there is so much rubbish that we are not able to build the wall.' And our adversaries said, 'They will neither know nor see anything, till we come into their midst and kill them and cause the work to cease.' So it was, when the Jews who dwelt near them came, that they told us ten times, 'From whatever place you turn, they will be upon us.'" (Nehemiah 4:7-12 NKJV)
The Enemy Wants the Work to Stop at All Costs!
They are intent on causing the work to cease! It says that they became extremely angry and began to conspire together to attack and create confusion. The confusing voices were not just from the outside, but from the inside as well. Judah says that the work was too hard, too much, and there was just too much junk to deal with. The adversaries said that they are too cunning, powerful and sneaky in their attacks to be defeated; and some of the Jews (Christians) in the land were saying about themselves that no matter what they tried to do, they couldn't protect themselves or stop what was happening. (Photo via Wikipedia)
But Nehemiah had a strategy:
"Therefore I positioned men behind the lower parts of the wall, at the openings; and I set the people according to their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows. And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, 'Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.' And it happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and that God had brought their plot to nothing, that all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work." (Nehemiah 4:13-15 NKJV)
Be prepared to fight! He told every tribe or family to be prepared to fight. Don't try to take on the whole cause but wherever you are stationed, you can fight and make a difference!
In other words:
• Don't be afraid!
• Don't let fear or fatalism rule your hearts or win the day.
• Remember the greatness of your God!
• Remember God's covenant with America, God's call on this land and your life, and never forget that God will fight for you, and fight for your family and your generations!
• If you love your family and this land, then fight for it!
• God knows how to bring the enemy's plots to nothing so we can return to the work of rebuilding.
A Sword and a Trowel
Later in this chapter, it relays the ongoing strategies that Nehemiah employs. He says let everyone fill in the gaps. These are the intercessors taking their positions along with prophetic watchmen on the walls. He fills in the gaps and calls everyone to be both a fighter and builder. Be prophetic and apostolic! Carry both a sword and a trowel! Then he says because we are separated on the wall at times, we must have a strategy when the attack comes. His strategy is simple. When you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally together for the cause and fight as one!
The trumpet is always symbolic of the prophetic voice of the Lord that releases strategies from HeavenAt the sound of the trumpet, rally, unify, listen for the strategy and commands from Heaven and then fight! He says let us be diligent to watch and pray. Let everyone take their shift to stand guard. Let's be diligent to guard our progress in the work. Watch day and night! Don't take off your clothes he says, or don't ever let your guard down or be caught ill-prepared but stay awake and alert. Be ready to fight and God will fight with us, and we will rebuild the temple (the Church) and we will rebuild the walls (the foundations of our nation for God)!
Our God Will Fight for Us!
"Then I said to the nobles, the rulers, and the rest of the people, 'The work is great and extensive, and we are separated far from one another on the wall. Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us.'" (Nehemiah 4:19-20 NKJV) (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Will You Be a Modern-Day Daniel? - James W. Goll Identity Network

Will You Be a Modern-Day Daniel? by James W. Goll

Identity Network
In these days of division and tension, Daniel is a perfect role model of leadership and excellence as a watchman. When Daniel was exiled and found himself in the court of the king of Babylon, he dedicated himself to bringing the rule of God into that pagan place. He did it through stellar character and incessant prayer. He was a true intercessor, a watchman on the walls.

Daniel did not attend Hebrew University but rather was trained in the School of the Chaldeans. He invested himself entirely in both the success of the king under whom he had been forced to serve and the restoration of his people in Jerusalem, disregarding potential misunderstandings and serious repercussions. When he had come to understand the prophecies about the return of God's people to their homeland, he intensified his efforts, fasting and praying and repenting on behalf of his people.

In all Your Ways

He did not relax his guard or rest on the assumption that God would simply act to fulfill those prophetic promises automatically. There was not one bone of passivity in this man of exquisite character. He prayed all the more, helping to bring the prophetic promises into fulfillment in his generation.

By God's grace, he had the necessary wisdom to navigate tricky political shoals. Over the years, the king and other ruling authorities came and went, and many of them were less than friendly toward him. All of them were pagans whose values did not match Daniel's in the least.

How do you think Daniel would respond to your nation's leaders and political climate if he were living today? What are we called to do in these perilous times? As God-fearing citizens, we would do well to follow his example.

Urged to Pray

Paul urged Timothy to pray — even for evil authorities (see I Timothy 2:1-4). He told him to pray for them, not against them, and to pray with two goals in mind: (1) "so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity" and (2) so that everyone (both leaders and ordinary citizens) can be "saved and come to the knowledge of the truth." How well is your life pointing those around you to these two endgames?

We can find other Scriptures that support this idea, for example:

"Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king." 1 Peter 2:17 NKJV.

"Fear the Lord and the king, my son, and do not join with the rebellious, for those two will send sudden destruction upon them, and who knows what calamities they can bring?" Proverbs 24:21–22 NIV.

In addition to obeying laws and living lives that are above reproach, one of the ways we can honor those in authority is by praying for them. Since comparatively, very few citizens do, our prayers are all the more important. Whether we like our leaders, whether we agree with their policies or not, whether we voted for them or against them, we must pray.

Watchmen in a Bleak Time

I write as a citizen of the United States, which establishes my reference point. But I also think of Daniel's Babylon and the situation of God's watchmen in many other cities and nations throughout history. From my perspective in the U.S., the overall mood of the nation is both angry and divided. Hopeful developments surface from time to time, only to crash into obstruction and disappointment. The national and international issues of our day are so complex that they even make my head spin!

Don't Doubt

Negative news seems to abound from every direction. It has become commonplace for us to see accusations, false promises, fake news, and deteriorating ethics from our national leaders all the way down to our local municipalities — and it can really get exasperating. Perhaps most challenging of all, the sinful human condition is on full display 24/7, thanks to instant broadcasts.

But in spite of what it may seem, our prayers make all the difference in how things turn out. As Pastor Jack Hayford has stated,  "You can determine whether God's goodness is released toward specific situations or whether the power of sin and Satan is permitted to prevail. Prayer is the determining factor."

Whatever our nation, we can pray that our leaders will govern honestly, humbly and with mercy. We can pray for them to have knowledge and understanding (which is more than mere information; it includes a grasp of history, roles, cultures and God's will). Today's global tyrants are as real as the Roman, Nero. Pray that God will deal with them swiftly, for the sake of His people. Pray that He will hedge in such dangerous leaders with limits and boundaries.

Prayers that Shape History

I learn from the heroes of faith in the Word of God, but also from the champions of faith in modern church history. In my Christian pilgrimage, the teachings of Derek Prince have impacted my life, worldwide outreach, and prayer ministry more than any other spiritual leader. From him I learned God's heart for Israel, praying for those in authority, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, deliverance from demonic darkness, the power of prayer and fasting, and so much more.  It is my great honor to state that this man was an effective, history-making and history-changing watchman.

Pray Until Something Happens

Over the course of his eventful life, Derek Prince, who died in 2003 at the age of eighty-eight, went from being an atheist philosopher at Cambridge to a prolific Bible teacher who traveled the world. Married and widowed twice, he left behind eleven adopted children. Among his numerous teachings and forty-five books is Shaping History through Prayer and Fasting, one of the greatest books of all time on the subject of government-focused prayer.
Derek was absolutely convinced that prayers could shape history, and that often its influence was best exercised on the governmental level. Here is a quote from Shaping History through Prayer and Fasting that sums up his viewpoint:

In 2 Chronicles God states the conditions which His people must fulfill for the healing of their land:

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7.14

The prophecies and promises of God's Word are intended to provoke us to pray with increased earnestness and understanding. God reveals to us the purposes, which He is working out, not that we may be passive spectators on the sidelines of history, but that we may personally identify ourselves with His purposes, and thus become actively involved in their fulfillment. Revelation demands involvement.

Derek felt that the Lord's call to Ezekiel to be a watchman (Ezekiel 33:7–9) applied to him personally. He knew that he must warn of danger and pray for God's mercy on leaders who were disobedient to God, in particular where the nation of Israel is concerned. The year before he died, he published an article that, in effect, warned those who would follow him as a watchman to pay attention to the Word of the Lord concerning the times in which they live.

The Scepter has Been Lowered

Our God is not small, and He hears the cry of the needy (see Psalm 69:33). Remember, He sits on the throne and He is not wringing His hands in worry. No, He invites us to come sit on the throne with Him and extend His Kingdom rule on earth as it is in heaven.

Jeremiah wrote, "This is what the Lord of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says, 'Work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile.' Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare." (Jeremiah 29:4, 7, NLT).

Your personal welfare depends upon the decisions of those who are in direct authority over you.  But together, in Jesus, we can tip the scales from irreverence to righteousness.
So I have a question for you. Are there any Daniels or Esthers out there today? Will you answer the call to be a modern-day Daniel for this generation?

The scepter of the King of Kings has been lowered. Now is the time. Take your place! You too, can shape history through prayer, release hope solutions to man's dilemmas, and shift the culture for such a time as this. We can see the greatest awakening for Jesus Christ the planet has ever seen!

"Fresh Boldness is Coming and a New Movement of Joy!"

Father, I pray in Jesus name for fresh boldness to come upon the Body of Christ. I heard the Lord say that this is a move that is beginning; it's a move of joy. It's a joy move... it's the joy of harvesting with the angels!

I really believe that if we'll pray with our spirit and pray strong we're actually praying out of our Spirit the mysteries of God and we're authorizing angels to do things... You need to be praying in your Spirit, because your Spirit will take you places your head doesn't know how to go.

"Are You Ready for Your Greatest Moment?"

If you're wondering what God is going to be doing in this season, I just want to begin to prophesy over you... I know that many times in my life, I'm going, "You know what God, I just need a breakthrough in this certain area." Get the focus off you and just start praying for people and start doing something for someone else and some things will start to breakthrough for you.

I just know that as you're listening to this today... as God encourages you to pray for people and to encourage other people some things are going to break in your life.

"Prophetic Word for July 2017, Heavenly Host"

Angels can arrive on the scene in an instant. Many of you have entertained angels unaware in times of trouble as I sent them to war for you, to deliver you, to rescue you from the enemy's plot against your life.

If you press into the reality of angels—if you learn to discern their presence and how to cooperate with their ministry—you will find greater breakthrough in every area of your life.

"Miracles are Breaking Out in Kansas City"

"By His stripes we are healed," — Isaiah 53:5

This is why we tell people, don't get discouraged... keep pressing into the miracle realm, because it's yours by faith. You have a right to it... that's the Word of God!

"From the Gates of Jerusalem | Glory of Zion"

I believe all of us are seeking to step into the next portion that God has for us...

It really feels like this is the kind of season that we are in... and it's a season of government, this is what Esther and Mordecai entered as they were obedient to the Lord as they entered into a governmental anointing and that's what I feel that we're entering a strong season of governmental anointing and if we choose to abide by His Spirit, He will allow us to answer that.

"Don't Bury Your Talents!"

Have you buried your talents? Or maybe the devil tricked you and slowly covered them up... one shovel full of dirt at a time... The Parable of the Talents doesn't say anything about age; we are not to bury them at age 10 or age 100.

Today, I am going to help you get that shovel out and undercover your greatest assets, bringing Glory to God and filling you with joy!

"Prayer is What Moves the Hand of God!"

That's what real prayer is: "Audience with the King." We can come to Him anytime, anyplace, anywhere, and we will have His undivided attention.

There's not a potentate, there's not a president anywhere on Earth that will give you that promise... but any of us can fall on our face have an audience with the King. That will turn prayer from a drudgery to a delight!
