Praying for Israel? Pray for Abundant Winter Rain - CBN News Tzippe Barrow

Praying for Israel? Pray for Abundant Winter Rain
09-20-2016
CBN News Tzippe Barrow
JERUSALEM, Israel – Following three consecutive winters of below-average rainfall, the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) is at a dangerously low level.
The deficit was evident last weekend at the 62nd Speedo Sea of Galilee Swim, an annual event that draws more than 10,000 participants, adults and children alike, to swim across the sea. The event offers 1.5 and 3.5 kilometer swimming lengths.
"It was great, but I did it much slower this year," Dave Silverman, owner of Dave's Hair Design in Jerusalem, told CBN News of this year's event. "Even though I was convinced I was way ahead of my wife and 11-year-old son, in actuality I came in an hour and a half ahead of them. The weather was perfect and the water was flat as a mirror – thousands of people!"
Watch the 2013 event here.
This year, an island in the sea and the lengthening shore provided visual evidence of diminished water levels. Over the long summer, the water level dropped more than a meter (yard) – even further below the red line.
The red line, established in the late 1960s, determines the lowest level at which the water authority can operate administratively without potentially damaging the ecological system or the environment. The water commissioner is responsible for enforcing the limits, The Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies stated in a 2005 report.
It's not the first time sparse winter rains have imperiled the nation's soul source of sweet water. In 2009, following five dry winters, the first heavy rain fell on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, encouraging the population countrywide.
The Israel Water Authority (Mekerot) monitors the Sea of Galilee year round to determine when and how much of the water can be used.
This year, Mekerot Director Amir Givati predicted another below average rainy season. If he's correct, the Coastal Aquifer Basin, another water source that's already below the red line, could drop even further.
Mekerot's gloomy prediction: "…the worst is yet to come."

"According to weather models the Water Authority has received from international forecasting centers, and also from the Israeli meteorological center, the worst is yet to come," YNet reported.
But we can pray into God's promises.
"Be glad then, you children of Zion and rejoice in the Lord your God; for He has given you the former rain faithfully and He will cause the rain to come down for you — the former rain and the latter rain in the first month." (Joel 2:23)
Observant Israelis begin to pray for winter rains during Sukkot, the harvest festival known abroad as the Feast of Tabernacles.
Would you join us in praying for abundant winter rains for Israel, both physical and spiritual?

DAILY SCRIPTURE PRAYERS AND PROCLAMATIONS TO BLESS ISRAEL by Rev. Derek Prince

DAILY SCRIPTURE PRAYERS

AND PROCLAMATIONS TO BLESS ISRAEL

by Rev. Derek Prince

While we have this open window of time, let us join together with thousands in agreement and each day proclaim one scripture prayer for Israel.

1. Father God, remove the veil You have sovereignly placed over the eyes of Israel, that they would recognize Jesus as their Messiah
(II Corinthians 3:14).

2. Lord, show Your mercy and favor to Israel in this set time (Psalm 102:13).

3. We pray for the current leaders in Israel, including the Prime Minister, the mayor of Jerusalem, and all those in the military service. Raise up government leaders in Israel (and world-wide) who will not seek to 'divide the land' and who would recognize the unique significance of Jerusalem in
God's end-time purposes.

4. "He Who scattered Israel will gather him; and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock" (Jeremiah 31:10). Father, continue to draw the Jewish people to Yourself according to Your sovereign.

5. Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion. Let them be as grass upon the housetops, which wither before it grows up (Psalm 129:5-5). L-rd, deal justly and swiftly with Your enemies.

6. Destroy and divide the tongues of those who would encite violence against Israel (Psalm 55:9). In the Name of Jesus, we bind every false religion  and false doctrine that does not acknowledge Your eternal plan for the land and people of Israel.

7. The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous (Psalm 125:3). Father, break the strongholds of religion, pride and wickedness that seek to control Israel.

8. The Lord will not forsake His people for His great Name's sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make Israel His people (I Samuel 12:22). Use us Lord to help others understand Your plan for Israel and Your love for the Jewish People.

9. The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes their plans of no effect (Psalm 33:10). We declare that G-d's purposes for Israel will be completely fulfilled and that He will be glorified.

10. Show Your loving kindness to Your people Israel and keep them as the apple of Your eye. Hide them under the shadow of Your wings, from the wicked who oppress them, from their deadly enemies who surround them (Psalm 17, 7-9).

11. We pray that You would remember Your covenants and promises towards Israel, especially when others rise up against her to swallow her alive. When their wrath is kindled against her, the waters will not overwhelm her. God will not give her as a prey to their teeth (Psalm 124).

12. Sanctify Your Great Name, which has been profaned amongst the nations, which has been profaned in the midst of Israel. That nations shall know that the Lord is God, when He is sanctified in Israel before their eyes. Sprinkle the clean water of Your Word on Israel and cleanse her from her filthiness and from all of her idols, including abortion and the occult. Give Israel a new heart, and put a new spirit within her. Remove her heart of stone and give her a heart of flesh that can respond to the Holy Spirit, and cause her to walk in Your statues, keep Your commandments and do them (Ezekiel 36:23-27).

13. Cause the church to fulfill its commission to preach the Gospel to the whole world, so the full number of the Gentiles would come into the Kingdom. Then all Israel will be saved (Romans 11:25-26).

14. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and for it to remain Israel's undivided capital.

15. Father, in Your mercy vanquish the tremendously powerful religious spirits which do the whole territory - Jewish, Christian and other.

16. Pray for the spirit of unity - for peace between religious and secular Jews, for peace to flow between believers in the land.

17. Pray for the Body of Messiah in Israel to become a praying, maturing Body. We pray this Body would allow the love and compassion of Yeshua to flow through them and touch everyone they encounter.

18. Raise up intercessors for Israel. Put more watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem, who will give You no peace day or night until You establish Jerusalem and make her the praise of the earth (Isaiah 62:6-7).

19. Father, bring glory to Your Name through the mercy You show to the Land. Bring the necessary seasonal rain upon the country. Cause the crops to be bountiful.

20. We pray that the three spiritual forces of humanism, marxism-socialist philosophy and spiritual inheritance of the Ottoman Empire will be broken and rendered powerless.

21. Bless Israel through the many immigrants who are flowing back to the nation. Bring sovereign, supernatural move of the Holy Spirit among these new immigrants, that they might proclaim Your truths to their fellow Jews.

22. We pray for radical change in the Israeli system of government, that the divisiveness partisanship would give way to unity and cooperation; great wisdom and revelation to all members of the Knesset and Israel's Supreme Court.

23. We pray that, in the midst of pressures, the people of Israel will turn to You, God. We pray that You will hear the hearts cry of people in this land and have mercy. As it says in Isaiah 30:19 "You shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry. When He hears it, He will answer."

24. Pour out Your Spirit upon the people of Israel - especially upon the young people so Your works can be declared to future generations.

25. Raise up "sons of Zion" who take God's Word seriously in opposition to humanistic's of Greece." (Zechariah 9:13).

26. We prepare for the Holy Spirit to intervene in the current situation in Israel. "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the L-rd shall lift up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19).

27. Turn the hearts of the people of Israel to trust in the Name of the Lord for deliverance not in the chariots and horses of their military might (Zechariah 4:6).

28. God raise up elders and young leaders to teach and train the new generation of Israelis who are coming in faith of the Messiah.

29. We pray that the Palestinian Arabs will come to faith in Messiah and embrace God's end-time purpose for Israel; Send forth laborers to bring in the appointed harvest from the Middle East.

30. May Israel's relationship with the United States, Canada, Australia and other nations be strong, and may our nation - and especially young believers -- recognize and support God's purpose for Israel.

31. Lord, we ask that the young believers in America and throughout the world would come to love Jewish people and seek to prepare the return of the Messiah.

We pray daily for our friends in Jerusalem and all of Israel, whether "in season or out".

As believers in Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach), we lift up our brethren, as fathers in the faith.

The Jewish people have been, and are being used by the Lord (Adonai) to show His love and purposes for all people in all nations. We are wise to take heed.

"It Is Time to Take a Stand! Praying For Israel and the Middle East's Destiny" James W. Goll

James W. Goll, Franklin, TN
The Elijah List

For more than a decade I have been declaring in many gatherings in many cities of the earth: "While all eyes would be on Iran, watch Syria. Iran will pose a great threat, but the imminent danger to Israel, and the entire Middle East would arise out of Syria." I have warned of chemical and biological weapons being stored up in this rogue nation and how they would attempt to export them to their puppet regime of Lebanon. I have seen a terror that would emerge out of Syria – and now it is right in front of our eyes in ISIS. I have seen this multiple times in dreams over the years.

But I also believe that prayer changes things! It is time to take a stand!
Sometimes I have grace and faith to pray that what I see does not occur. Sometimes I sense grace to intervene. Other times, like many of you, I have called forth the "Shields of the Lord to Arise" and protect Israel. (Photo via pixabay)

At one point I called forth for 91 Days of Prayer for the Homeland Prayer Initiative to protect the borders of the United States of America. Sometimes I have sensed things are "out of God's appointed timetable" and to call forth angels from Heaven into the earth realm to hem in the demonic enemy. Sometimes I sense the clock is ticking according to God's prophetic calendar and in the midst of turmoil, His purposes are coming forth. It takes discernment to pray properly!

A Pivotal Time in My Prayer Life Journey

In the fall of 1987, an angel of the Lord visited me and declared to me that times of great distress would come to the Persian Gulf. In that angelic visitation, when we lived in south Kansas City, Missouri, I was given the exact dates of both Gulf War invasions in 1991 and 2003. I was assigned by the Lord to be a "Crisis Intercessor" for the entire month of February 1991, when there would be a "ground engagement" in the land of Iraq.

I took my place and I did my part along with others around the world. It started on February 1st and ended on February 28th. Later, I saw in the Spirit that Syria would conspire a scheme of invading the Golan Heights as things would heat up and temporarily go "out of control in the Middle East." Years ago the Holy Spirit spoke to me about the Fall of 2013, and how things would heat up and spill over into an eruption in 2014 and potentially till 2020.

I have meditated on Psalm 83 where it says, "The nations will conspire to wipe Israel off the face of the earth to be remembered no more." I have written and spoken on Psalm 83 for the past decade. Like many of you, I have logged many personal hours over the years being up the middle to night to "watch to see what the Lord would speak."

The Countdown to Zechariah Twelve

In January of 2004, the Lord woke me up in the middle of the night and said, "Watchman, tell Me, what do you see?" I looked up and in a visionary experience saw a clock, that was not there in the natural, hanging on the bedroom wall. The time on the clock read 11:53 p.m. and above the 12 were the letters "Zech." The Holy Spirit then said, "Watchman, tell Me, what do you hear?" Then suddenly the external, audible voice of the Lord came: "It is the countdown to Zechariah 12." (Photo via Wikimedia)

I rested in the presence of God for a while and did not move until His manifest presence withdrew. Then I turned on the light and read Zechariah 12. It is the most amazing chapter, all about a city named Jerusalem. Let's read a portion of it together:

"The burden of the word of the Lord concerning Israel. Thus declares the Lord who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundations of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him, "Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it...."

"In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord before them. And... I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn." Zechariah 12:1-3, 8-10

The countdown to Zechariah 12 is on. I never have stated that this would happen in the next seven minutes, seven years or even seventy years. What I do know is that God's prophetic clock is moving toward a kairos moment when God's plan for Jerusalem will be consummated. This is the final countdown!

God has a Road Map, and it points toward Zechariah 12:10. It is easy to identify with Zechariah 12:3, as we hear about the nations coming against Jerusalem. But read further and you will see that Zechariah 12:10 declares that God will "pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and they will look upon the One whom they pierced and will mourn."

Let's arise and pray for Israel's destiny and that of the entire Middle East! There is coming a great outpouring of the presence of God and tens of thousands will turn to the Lord.

Romans 11 through Isaiah 53

Since that revelatory encounter those many years ago, I have pondered on the time shown on the clock: 11:53. Perhaps it is something like this: Romans 11 will be fulfilled through Isaiah 53.Romans 11 – "all Israel will be saved" – will be fulfilled by a revelation of the suffering Messiah in Isaiah 53.

Romans 11:12 speaks of how the Jewish people's rejection of their Messiah has brought salvation to the Gentiles. Paul says, "If their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be!" Romans 11:15 goes on to say, "For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?"

What do you think "life from the dead" looks like? Zechariah 14:5, 8-9 and 11 gives us a glimpse of that day:
Then the Lord, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!... And in that day living waters will flow out of Jerusalem... And the Lord will be King over all the earth; in that day the Lord will be the only one, and His name the only one...

People will live in [Jerusalem], and there will no longer be a curse, for Jerusalem will dwell in security.

The Father will reward His Son, the Messiah, for His sufferings. The salvation of Israel is a key component of that reward, and the Father will not do without it. If we are going to align ourselves with the God of Israel, we are going to have to align ourselves with His covenants and His prophetic promises of the salvation of the Jews and the restoration of Jerusalem. (Photo via pixabay)

It is not difficult to find political analysts, historians, reporters and even theologians ready to explain their theories and share commentary on Israel's current state of affairs. But despite the abundance of opinions and strong feelings, the future of Israel still remains a mystery to most of the world. Paul, the apostle and bond slave of the Lord Jesus Christ, did not want Believers to be uninformed of this mystery or to be wise in their own estimation concerning Israel (see Romans 11:25). The Holy Spirit through Paul made a number of very clear points in Romans 11.

Despite what it may look like, Israel has not fallen so far from God that they can never return. In fact, their falling away was ordained by God as a measure of grace to us, the Gentiles. Paul said it this way: "He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit"(Galatians 3:14, NIV).

The Gentiles are being embraced by the Jewish Messiah in part to make Jews jealous (see Romans 11:11). Gentiles are not "natural branches" on God's family tree, but rather "wild olive shoots" who must recognize that they have been grafted in. God's plan is to graft the "natural branches" into their own olive tree once again (see Romans 11:24), resulting in the reality that "all Israel will be saved" (Romans 11:26).

God Has a Grand Plan!

We must not be wise in our own estimation when it comes to Israel or be uninformed of this mystery. Romans 11:25 says that, "A partial hardening has happened to Israel until..."

Until what? Maybe you have read this verse many times. Have you realized that the word until is the key word in this passage? "A partial hardening has happened to Israel until..." That means there is a point in time when the hardening will be removed. That time is when "the fullness of the Gentiles has come in" (Romans 11:25).

What does the fullness of the Gentiles look like? Perhaps it deals in part with the day Jerusalem was released from Gentile control and restored to Israeli rule in 1967. But knowing the God that we serve, this probably does not deal only with land but with hearts as well.

Oh yes, He has the hearts of the people of the Middle East in His heart and plan! (Photo via Wikimedia)

What Gentile people group would, in the minds of most people, be the most unlikely to come to faith in the Jewish Messiah? Would it not be the Islamic people? What if the Holy Spirit moved powerfully upon a remnant of the Islamic people and they turned away from their false god to serve the Jewish Messiah? What if a movement of God fell upon them with the signs and wonders of an apostolic dimension, and they were grafted in as wild olive shoots to the Master's tree? Talk about pricking the Jewish heart to jealousy!

What I do know is God has a Road Map, and it is different from the international Quartets Road Map or other political agendas.

God has a grand plan and ultimately His will shall be done!

A Watchman for Such a Time As This!

Shema Yisrael (or Sh'ma Yisrael; Hebrew: שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל‎; "Hear, [O] Israel") are the first two words of a section of the Torah, and is the title (sometimes shortened to simply Shema) of a prayer that serves as a centerpiece of the morning and evening Jewish prayer services. The first verse encapsulates the monotheistic essence of Judaism: "Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God, the LORD is one", found in Deuteronomy 6:4, sometime alternately translated as "The LORD is our God, the LORD alone." Observant Jews consider the Shema to be the most important part of theprayer service in Judaism, and its twice-daily recitation as a mitzvah (religious commandment). It is traditional for Jews to say the Shema as their last words, and for parents to teach their children to say it before they go to sleep at night.
The term "Shema" is used by extension to refer to the whole part of the daily prayers that commences with Shema Yisrael and comprises Deuteronomy 6:4–911:13-21, and Numbers15:37–41. These sections of the Torah are read in the weekly Torah portions Va'etchananEikev, and Shlach, respectively.

History

Originally, the Shema consisted of only one verse: Deuteronomy 6(see Talmud Sukkah 42a and Berachot 13b). The recitation of the Shema in the liturgy, however, consists of three portions: Deuteronomy 6:4–911:13-21, and Numbers 15:37–41. The three portions relate to central issues of Jewish belief.
Additionally, the Talmud points out that subtle references to the Ten Commandments can be found in the three portions. As the Ten Commandments were removed from daily prayer in the Mishnaic period (70-200 CE), the Shema is seen as an opportunity to commemorate the Ten Commandments.
There are two larger-print letters in the first sentence ('ayin ע and daleth ד) which, when combined, spell "עד". In Hebrew this means "witness". The idea thus conveyed is that through the recitation or proclamation of the Shema one is a living witness testifying to the truth of its message. Modern Kabbalistic schools, namely that of the Ari, teach that when one recites the last letter of the word "'ecḥad'" (אחד), meaning "one", he is to intend that he is ready to "die into God".

Content

Shema Yisrael

The first paragraph of the Shema seen in a Tefillin scroll
The first, pivotal, words of the Shema are: Hebrew:שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ יהוה אֶחָד - Sh'ma Yisra'el YHWH Eloheinu YHWH Eḥad
Rabbinic Judaism teaches that the Tetragrammaton (י-ה-ו-ה), YHWH, is the ineffable and actual name of God, and as such is not read aloud in the Shema but is traditionally replaced with אדני, Adonai ("Lord"). For this reason, the Shema is recited aloud as:
Sh'ma Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Eḥad - Hear, O Israel: the Lord is our God, the Lord is One
The literal word meanings are roughly as follows:
Sh'ma — listen, or hear & do (according to the Targumaccept)
Yisrael — Israel, in the sense of the people or congregation of Israel
Adonai — often translated as "LORD", it is read in place of YHWH; Samaritans say Shema, which is Aramaic for "the [Divine] Name" and is the exact equivalent of the Hebrew "ha-Shem", which Rabbinic Jews substitute for "Adonai" in a non-liturgical context such as everyday speech.[citation needed]
Eloheinu — the plural 1st person possessive of אֱלֹהִים Elohim, meaning “our God”.
Echad — the unified and cardinal number one אֶחָד

Another possibility is the Samaritan reading:
Sh'ma Yisrael Shema Eloheinu Shema Eḥad. (Hear, O Israel, the Name is our God, the Name is One.)[citation needed]
The connective "is" is implied rather than stated as it would be in modern English.
This first verse of the Shema relates to the kingship of God. The first verse, "Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord," has ever been regarded as the confession of belief in the One God. Due to the ambiguities of the Hebrew language there are multiple ways of translating the Shema:
"Hear, O Israel! Adonai is our God! Adonai is One!" and,
"Hear, O Israel! Adonai is our God – Adonai alone."
Many commentaries have been written about the subtle differences between the translations. There is an emphasis on the oneness of God and on the sole worship of God by Israel. There are other translations, though most retain one or the other emphases.

Baruch Shem

בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם כְּבוֹד מַלְכוּתוֹ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד - "Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom for ever and ever”
The second line is a rabbinic addition and is recited silently during congregational worship (except on Yom Kippur, when it is recited aloud). It was originally a liturgical response in use in the Temple when the name of God was pronounced and took the form of "Baruch shem k’vodo l’olam", "Blessed be His glorious name" (Psalm 72:19). However, in time the words, "malchuto" ("His kingdom") and "va’ed" ("for ever and ever") were added. "Malchuto" was introduced by the rabbis during Roman rule as a counter to the claim of divine honors by Roman emperors. "Va’ed" was introduced at the time of the Second Temple to contrast the view of the "minim" (sectarians) that there is no life after death.[1]

V'ahavta

The following verses, commonly referred to by the first word of the verse immediately following the Shema as the V'ahavta, or in Classical Hebrew W'ahav'ta meaning "And you shall love...", contain the commands to love God (the Talmud emphasizes that you will, at some point, whether you choose to or not therefore "shall" future tense, love God), with all one's heart, soul, and might; then the verse goes on to remind you to remember all commandments and "teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit down and when you walk, when you lie down and when you rise" (Deut 6:7); to recite the words of God when retiring or rising; to bind those words "on thy arm and thy head" (classically Jewish oral tradition interprets as tefillin), and to inscribe them on the door-posts of your house and on your gates (referring to mezuzah).

V'haya im shamoa

The passage following the "Shema" and "V'ahavta" relates to the issue of reward and punishment. It contains the promise of reward for serving God with all one's heart, soul, and might (Deut 11:13) and for the fulfillment of the laws. It also contains punishment for transgression. It also contains a repetition of the contents of the first portion -but this time spoken to the second person plural, (Whereas the first portion is directed to the individual Jew, this time it is directed to the whole community, all the Jews).

Vayomer

The third portion relates to the issue of redemption. Specifically, it contains the law concerning the tzitzit as a reminder that all laws of God are obeyed, as a warning against following evil inclinations and in remembrance of the exodus from Egypt. For the prophets and rabbis, the exodus from Egypt is paradigmatic of Jewish faith that God redeems from all forms of foreign domination. It can be found in the portion "Shlach Lecha" in the book of Numbers.

Summary

In summary, the content flows from the assertion of the oneness of God's kingship. Thus, in the first portion, there is a command to love God with all one's heart, soul and might and to remember and teach these very important words to the children throughout the day. Obeying these commands, says the second portion, will lead to rewards, and disobeying them will lead to punishment. To ensure fulfillment of these key commands, God also commands in the third portion a practical reminder, wearing the tzitzit, "that ye may remember and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God."

The second line quoted, "Blessed be the Name of His glorious kingdom for ever and ever", was originally a congregational response to the declaration of the Oneness of God; it is therefore often printed in small font and recited in an undertone, as recognition that it is not, itself, a part of the cited Biblical verses. The third section of the Shema formally ends at Numbers 15:41, but in fact traditionally Jews end the recitation of the Shema with the following word from the next verse, Emet, or "Truth", as the end of the prayer.
