The Surprising Connections Between Sukkot and the War of Gog and Magog

“And it will come to pass on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel, declares the Lord God, that My blazing indignation will flame in My nostrils.” (Ezekiel 38:18)
There are signs, both in current events and in Jewish tradition, that point to the possibility that the War of Gog and Magog, prophesied in the Books of Ezekiel and Zechariah, will happen this year on the Jewish holiday of Sukkot (Festival of Tabernacles).
As has been widely reported, the final Blood Moon of the most recent tetrad occurred on the first night of Sukkot, September 28, 2015. Each time a Blood Moon tetrad has fallen on Jewish holidays in the past 500 years, there has been a significant Messianic advancement. Is the War of Gog and Magog connected to the Blood Moon?
Parallel to the final Blood Moon, Iranian and Russian troops are moving into Syria. US troops are heading into the Sinai. Israel is being surrounded by foreign troops to the north and south. The End of Days blogger Tomer Devorah suggests, “It really looks to me like the set-up for the Gog uMagog invasion!”
The apocalyptic War of Gog and Magog, the final war that is part of the Messianic process, is mentioned in two places in the Bible – in the Book of Ezekiel, starting in chapter 38, and in the Book of Zechariah, beginning in chapter 12.
The connection between the War of Gog and Magog and Sukkot is made explicit in Zechariah 14:16, which discusses the annual celebration in Jerusalem on Sukkot, following the War of Gog and Magog.
“And it will come to pass that everyone left of the nations who came up against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to prostrate himself to the King, the Lord of Hosts, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.” (Zechariah 14:16)
In a recent lecture given by popular speaker Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi, there are three other connections between the holiday of Sukkot and the War of Gog and Magog.
The end is near. Are you ready?
First, the numerical value of the Hebrew term “Gog uMagog” (גוג ומגוג) is 70. According to Mizrachi, this is an allusion to the 70 nations that make up the world. When the Holy Temple stood in Jerusalem, 70 oxen were sacrificed during the week of Sukkot. Each of these 70 oxen represented one of the original 70 nations.
Second, on the Sabbath that falls during the week of Sukkot, the section of the Books of Prophets that is read in synagogues all across the world comes from the Book of Ezekiel (38:18-39:16)This passage discusses the war of Gog and Magog which is predicted to come before the Final Redemption of the Jewish people.
Third, Mizrachi states that the only reference to Gog and Magog in the Talmud, Judaism’s enormous reservoir of rabbinic teachings, is in the tractate named Sukkot. Amidst a discussion of the death of the Yetzer Hara (Evil Inclination) in Messianic times, the Talmud speaks of the mourning that will accompany the death of Moshiach ben Yosef (the first Messiah from the Tribe of Joseph) who will be killed in the War of Gog and Magog.
Mizrachi puts these pieces together and emphasizes that, based on the mystical tradition of Judaism known as Kabbalah, the rabbis of the Talmud understood, “that the time that has the highest chance to have this war is Sukkot, and especially this year, when it is the end of Shmittah.”
“The Gemara (Talmud) says that in the end of shvyit (the seventh year, which is a Shmittah year), Moshiach ben David (Messiah, son of David) [will] come,” Mizrachi told Breaking Israel News, emphasizing that “all the signs that the Gemara gave [for the era preceding the Messiah] already happened.”

Shabbat Inspiration

Today's verse gives a beautiful metaphor to describe the Messianic age. Just as nothing can halt the flow of the ocean, so too nothing will be able to stop the spread of theknowledge of God throughout the world. Yet just as the depth of the ocean waters varies from place to place, so too the depth of one's knowledge of God will only be as deep as the amount of effort that one exerts. Root Source teaches Christians around the world about Jewish ideas and thought to help them more deeply understand the roots of their faith. Their new book, "Israel First", explores the latest Biblical phenomenon happening today- Blood Moons, Shmittah, the Jubilee year, and promises to Israel - and what it all means for Israel and the world. Don't miss it!

BLOOD MOONS:
What is God Telling Us?

What are Blood Moons and how will they affect us? In the Bible, the Prophet Joel states, “The sun shall turn to darkness, and the moon to blood, prior to the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.” (Joel 3:4).

Charity Organization in Israel Nullifies All Debts In Observance of Shmittah

“At the end of seven years you will make a release. And this is the manner of the release: to release the hand of every creditor from what he lent his friend; he shall not exact from his friend or his brother, because the time of the release for the Lord has arrived.” (Deuteronomy 15:1–2)
As the shmittah year comes to a close, one of the most prominent charity organizations in Israel is observing a rare biblical commandment to nullify debts. Karmey Chesed, an organization which lends money to individuals who come from low income backgrounds, or who have fallen on hard times, will be enacting the biblical law to its full extent.
The observance of shmittah has several dimensions, one of which is the waiving of all outstanding debts, which is always done at the end of the shmittah year. In modern times, to help prevent economic difficulties, a halachic mechanism called pruzbul circumvents this loan amnesty. However, many rabbinic leaders believe that wherever one can follow the biblical rule, it is best to do so.
“The Torah demands that we maintain high moral standards, which should not be affected by changing times and changing economic circumstances,” said Rabbi Benjamin Lau, a prominent Orthodox rabbi in Jerusalem. Karmey Chesed has elected to follow this line of thinking, and is granting loan amnesty to all those to whom the organization has loaned money in the past seven years.
While granting loan amnesty was done in the times of the Bible, it is very uncommon in the modern era. However, as many of the people receiving help from Karmey Chesed may never be able to repay the loans that they have taken, Aryeh Weingarten, the Director of Karmey Chesed, is forgiving the debt.
Help a family in need in Israel during the High Holidays
A local rabbi from Beitar, where Weingarten lives and works, said that Weingarten is known for his generosity and philanthropy. “Aryeh’s whole life is dedicated to helping others. He has a fear of God and he helps all kinds of people, from all walks of life,” he said.
Weingarten had come to the rabbi and asked several questions about how his organization should observe the shmittah, particularly the rule of absolving debt. “Most people today are not aware of this commandment and most of those who are aware of it use a loophole to guarantee the loan is paid back after the end of the shmittah year. However, Aryeh has taken the higher road,” said the rabbi.
He added that Karmey Chesed is embodying biblical values, explaining, “While it is possible to use the loophole, it is also vitally important to go back to our biblical roots, and to really act with mercy and loving kindness towards those who are disadvantaged in the community, and that is what Karmey Chesed is doing.”
The laws of loan amnesty take effect at the end of the Jewish year, which falls on the evening of September 13 with the onset of the holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

Shmittah, Blood Moons and the Messiah Collide in Today's Stock Market Crash

Shmittah, Blood Moons and the Messiah Collide in Today's Stock Market Crash

“For whoever is in the shade of wisdom is in the shade of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to its possessor.” (Ecclesiastes 7:12)
China’s devaluation of its currency, the yuan, has signaled to international investors that the country is no more a financial powerhouse. In a global economy, however, all these events are, of course, connected.
Taken together, four recent and upcoming events make a compelling case for imminent and dramatic messianic advancement. The four events are the end of the Shmittah year on September 13, the shaking of the world economies last week, numerical hints that abound in Bible Codes and the final Blood Moon of the current tetrad on September 23.
In the name of Rabbi Avigdor Nebenzahl, the former Chief Rabbi of the Old City of Jerusalem, author Rabbi Shimon Apisdorf told Breaking Israel News that, since the end of Biblical prophecy, God speaks to us in headlines. Apisdorf said the same idea, that God speaks through historical events, is echoed by Rabbi Eliyahu Eliezer Dessler, an important 20th century rabbi, Talmudic scholar, and Jewish philosopher.
Where do we find hints of God’s Hand in recent economic news? As previously reported by Breaking Israel News, there is a well established pattern of connection between the end of a Shmittah cycle and a downturn in the US economy. This has happened at or near the end of the last seven Shmittah cycles.
End Times author Rabbi Pinchas Winston spoke about this connection with Breaking Israel News. “Why should the end of a Shmittah cycle affect the economies of the world? Even today, when the keeping of Shmittah is rabbinical in nature, it still transmits a Torah message, and that is that God runs the world and provides everything in Creation with its livelihood,” he explained.
Let's Rebuild the Temple Now!
“The fact that billions of people do not believe this or think about it does not change the fact, and what better time to make the point than as the Shmittah year comes to an end? It has occurred over the millennia with uncanny consistency, and one need look back only a few decades to see how true this is, and to know that bracing oneself for financial upheaval this September is a word to the wise and financially prudent.”
In July 2015, Jeff Berwick, a Canadian entrepreneur and financial analyst, released a video about the connection between the Shmittah and Jubilee cycles and the global economy. On Friday, he wrote an article questioning whether the Shmittah effect began a few weeks early.
Three weeks ahead of the end of the Shmittah cycle, Wall Street just experienced a very difficult week, the worst in years. The Dow fell more than 1,000 points. Some say it’s just a normal market correction. End of Days blogger Tomer Devorah has a different way of understanding the numbers.
In the system of gematria, where every Hebrew letter has a numerical value, the numerical value of the word Mashiach (Messiah) is 358. On Thursday, August 20, the US stock market fell 358 points. The next day, Friday, August 21, the US stock market fell another 530 points. Together, 530 and 358 equals 888.
This is significant because the number 8 represents God, who is above nature. As Tomer Devorah writes “The number 8 is also connected to the revelation of Mashiach (messiah)!”  She explains that the number 7 is associated with completeness in nature – the seven days of Creation, the seven days of the week, the seven colors of the rainbow, etc. The number 8 is above nature. The Messianic era is also represented by the number 8 because, during that time, our souls will transcend nature and will experience a higher level of understanding God.
