When the going gets tough - Morris Ruddick

When the Going Gets Tough

When the Going Gets Tough

The unprovoked massacre of October 7th was just the tip of the iceberg. Globally, it was the harbinger of dark destructive forces, being set in motion against not just Jews and Israel, but Christians in both Western and non-Western settings around the world. These assaults have manifested and been fueled by hate not only spiritually, but by overt social, political, media and governmental voices and structures.

Scripture gives us a strong historic response to mobilized evil. History likewise recounts those who have responded to the infiltrations of these dark forces intent on the destruction of those known by His Name. This last generation has had voices crying in the wilderness with attempts to mobilize influence and maintain standards in the voices and structures of society.

There’s an old military adage: “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” This observation certainly describes the need for a more proactive root-level response to the heightened clamor, rhetoric and violence against both Christians and Jews.

What has been manifesting is something more. It is far more organized and deadly and is going to take something more in response. The cost of being a practicing Christian or Jew has reached unprecedented levels, not seen since the rise of Nazi Germany.

Persecution and anti-Semitism have found penetration and justification embedded deeply in the infrastructures of Western thinking and culture.

The response bleeds into the political, cultural and spiritual foundations of Western Civilization and no longer can be ignored or responded to passively as just manifesting outside our own cities and neighborhoods. It’s in our backyards.

I’m writing a book about the back-story of the move of God that emerged after the 1975 regime change in Vietnam. It is an insight not normally seen by Western eyes whose vague glimpse into the darkness that came to overshadow those days ….with narratives being shaped by perverted political spins seriously distanced from the realities.

To the point, what got lost in the wash is this response to the hardships and loss of freedoms had its beginnings with the desperation-prayers of hungry, persecuted believers crying out to God for help and relief.

The untold story recounts the dramatic impact and influence that those prayers started making in the course of their nation. Insights needed as the world grapples with its response to the creeping darkness.

The intent of this message is to highlight the overcoming power believers possess in facing overwhelming circumstances, in what may appear as completely impossible. Yet as Isaiah clearly notes, when the darkness seems to gather and multiply ….the response of Light will be more than enough to disperse it. Our response is never to cower in the face of darkness, but to hold steady as with the strategies and expectation that Light will always disperse darkness.

There is no question of the shaking of our comfort zones that we unconsciously or consciously tend to hang onto ….awakening and reinforcing our access to this power.

Likewise, it engenders a closer look at oversimplified precepts of doctrine, that digress into or are combined with myths and falsities overshadowing Truth, which serve to downplay this overcoming power, triggering a passivity and a misguided turning the other cheek.

Light Over Darkness, the Kingdom Authority Equalizer
The sequence of stories reflected between Luke 20 and 22 capture a number of key insights into the response of the power of good over evil ….all of which is resident in what manifests within the cultural context of the Kingdom of God.

The sequence begins with Jesus refusing to debate His authority with those challenging it. Both personal nor community authority are indisputable and bedrock to the response against amassing evil. Unfortunately, we have lost the edge when we allow our faith to digress into debating precepts of men or simply failing to take a stand against amassing evil.

Solomon observed that the wicked flee when no one pursues but the righteous are as bold as a lion (Prov 28). The prayers of the righteous in post-1975 Vietnam penetrated the infrastructures of the ruling elite with God’s influence and brought significant, unexpected change. As Paul wrote the Corinthians, the Kingdom of God is not just in word, but in Spirit and in power.

Insight into the power of the resurrection bears on the turbulence and response to the conflict leading up to the fulfillment of the time of the “gentiles” (also translated “nations).” The Passion translation renders Luke 21:24: “…and Jerusalem will be trampled by the nations until the time of world empires comes to an end.” Facing such turbulent times, Jesus gave the admonishment to be encouraged, as the Kingdom is near.

In this sequence in Luke, in approaching His crucifixion, Jesus shared the Passover with His disciples. In doing so, He gave believers the potent sacrament of the Last Supper along with the wisdom of the significance of servant-leadership.

Embracing Both Spiritual and Natural Power
This balance expected of those Jesus had been grooming for leadership was then summed up in Luke 22:35-36 as Hereminded them of a time in their training, when He had instructed them to depend solely on spiritual realities. At that time, what He intended them to recognize: was the Kingdom authority they had in conducting their spiritual quests without depending on cloak, purse or even sandals.

In affirming that they had lacked for nothing, Jesus’ response was “Now, take your purse and if you don’t have a sword, then sell your cloak and buy one.”

This admonition suggests a contextual difference between shaking the dust off your feet when employing the power of God to advance the Kingdom outside one’s own community (Luke 9:5; Matt 10:14; Mark 6:11) and turning the other cheek (Luke 6:29; Matt 5:39) when confronted with conflicts in one’s own household or community.

God’s Peace and Community Authority
One of my sources of spiritual wisdom recently commented on making prayer more effective. That comment was that for most believers, we don’t need to pray more, we need to pray better. For me, that shouts two key factors. First, understanding the importance of our authority to co-labor with Him to speak to the issues and decree ….and secondly, to avail ourselves of the opportunity to pray together with others. In other words, tapping and employing both our personal and community authority.

Removing the blindspots in this issue of authority for ministering/ praying believers facing conflict is vital. It begins with recognizing the authority needed when confronted with evil. A key blindspot involves an issue confusing and distorting our grasp of God’s peace with passivity. During the Middle-Ages certain sectors of the church began replacing the power of God’s peace in confronting evil with passivity …..focusing on turning the other cheek when the response called for shaking the dust off their feet.

The employment of force and even militant power with God at the helm has precedent from the days of possessing the Promised Land to the days of David unifying and establishing the kingdom. It is supported by Jesus’ recognizing the depth of the Centurion’s faith and Paul’s description of the authority given to righteous civil governments.

This dual thrust, employing both the natural and spiritual dimensions of God’s authority and power over darkness, has been described by a Christian historian of Islamic history and doctrine. Raymond Ibrahim’s in-depth analysis of original texts from the five centuries of the Crusades, uncovers realities, historical distortions and myths regarding the foundations and history of the Templars and Hospitallars.

The rise of these militant monks was a response to the rampant uprising of Islamic persecution of Christians and Jews in the Middle Ages.

His message has very pointed relevance to the response given to today’s global rise of anti-Semitism and anti-Christian persecution movements. This severe persecution of Jews and Christians by radicalized Islamists in the Middle Ages has particular historical parallels to the Islamic doctrinal foundations seen manifesting in this hour.

The author’s premise points to the dual authority (“….sell your cloak and buy a sword”) of the larger community response to persecution for those known by His Name. (“The Two Swords of Christ,”Raymond Ibrahim, 2025, Post Hill Press).

To the point, when conditions reach what Isaiah described as darkness covering the earth and deep darkness the peoples, the expectation and response should not be passive, but be recognizing and appropriating both the natural and spiritual extent of God’s authority available over His people, as He manifests His glory.
“You will come up against my people Israel, like a cloud covering the land. In the latter days I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.” Ezek 38:16

It’s being poised, as a prayerful community, in entering that place transcending human effort, to embrace the Lord of Hosts, the God of the Armies of Israel, the Lord of Glory. It embraces the discipline and commitment needed when the only option is the Lord showing up in His glory, facing evil with zero tolerance, yielding human weakness to His strength with the expectation of one chasing a thousand to flight and two putting ten thousand to flight.
“The LORD has opened His armory and has brought out the weapons of His indignation; for this is the work of the Lord God of hosts.” Jer 50:25

It suggests the manifestation of the glimmer of the glory to be revealed with salvation that Simeon prophesied with His encounter with the baby Jesus.
“For my eyes have seen Your salvation, that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples. A light for revelation for the gentiles, and for glory for your people Israel.” Luke 2:30-32)

Jeremiah faced and embraced the challenge of this reality. His task was beyond the ordinary in terms of human effort. He needed far more. Yet that is the point. His response demonstrates both the balance and the trigger between his role and the role of the Lord of Hosts in the release of God’s power.
You are My battle-axe and weapon of war: for with Me, you will break the nation in pieces; with Me you will destroy kingdoms and strongholds; and with Me you will break in pieces governors and rulers.  And I will repay Babylon and Chaldea.” Jer 51:20, 23, 24

Again, through the partnership with Him, we destroy kingdoms and strongholds, setting the stage for His sovereign intervention to repay Babylon and Chaldea. Likewise, Isaiah captured this mix between the natural and supernatural power in his 46th chapter in the call of the angelic birds of prey from the east, and the man of His purpose from a far country.

Entrance into the Secret Place
What Simeon foresaw and what Ezekiel, Jeremiah and Isaiah tapped involved entering what scripture refers to as the secret place. It is that place of operating beyond self, where the human side of consequences begins to pale and fade. It abides in the fear of God and consciousness of His presence. It activates with the knowledge of having the condition of the Lord of Hosts as the equalizer in the threats to Life ….knowing that in exercising His significant authority in the destruction of dark kingdoms and strongholds, that the Lord would then execute judgment on Babylon and Chaldea, undermining the powers of the worldly and demonic realms that embrace the prevailing darkness.

Entering the secret place has a cost. It has no tolerance for personal ambition. It eschews the approval of men in its perspective and way of thinking, with an overshadowing embracing of God’s priorities. The secret place is where there is no fear of bad news, but with the Psalmist it simply responds with a bedrock trust in the Lord. It is the place Daniel found in the king’s court where the fear of the Lord boldly displaced the fear of man ….releasing God’s power. It embraces the pivotal depth of Peter’s authoritative “giving” decree to the lame beggar: “Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have, I give to you. In the Name of Jesus, get up and walk.”

“Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who take great delight in His instructions. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever. Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous. Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice. Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD. Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes. They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor. The wicked will see and be vexed, they will gnash their teeth and slink away; their hopes being thwarted.” Ps 112

ARISE, SHINE, FOR YOUR LIGHT HAS COME by Cathy Hargett

“Arise, Shine, For Your Light Has Come" Cathy Hargett

12/2/25

Arise, shine, for your Light has come, and the Glory of the Lord rises upon you." (Isaiah 60:1)

We are once again in the season of many beautiful traditions. Those who follow Yeshua the Messiah with all their hearts praise Him for any and every opportunity to celebrate that the Light of the World has already come to us, and He is coming again.

In the Messianic community, there continues to be a running dialogue, questioning when Yeshua was born into this world. Some say it was at Pesach (Passover), some say Succot (Tabernacles). Hardly anyone believes it was on December 25th, as celebrated in the traditional Christian church. Many assert that there are pagan roots to the cultural season of Christmas. There is also the argument against creating the man-made holiday of Christmas, since it was not a Feast that God told us to celebrate.

From my grateful perspective, it seems that there is now more of a deep softening of heart, at least among the Messianic community that I know. When we acknowledge that there are some cultural traditions that can be celebrated in faith, we can accept each other and better accept the different traditions (Romans 14-15). (I trust that it's obvious that I am not suggesting that we accept idol worship.)

We even note that Yeshua celebrated the cultural tradition of Hanukkah, even though it was not one of the biblical feasts appointed by the Lord in Leviticus 23. There seem to be less arguments about whether or not this holiday should or should not be celebrated and whether it should be celebrated on December 25th. Perhaps we really are becoming "one new man", as we settle the question of "what would Yeshua teach us about these things"?

As I pondered all this again as we enter this season, He led me to focus not on all these different perspectives that we re-hash ever year, but on something else.  He turned my heart to proclaim the so very obvious, but sometimes hidden, reality of how Yeshua and Israel reveal the truth together, as one people. The similarities are so absolutely striking that once you see them, you will not be able to think of Yeshua without thinking of Israel. And you won't be able to think of Israel without thinking of Yeshua.

And, oh, how very beautiful it is to celebrate the birth of Yeshua, and the dawning of the Messianic Kingdom. It has already begun. Oh, Hallelujah! God, the Savior of the World has already come to earth one time in the flesh, exactly as it was foretold by the prophets. This truth so guarantees that He will come again, just as He said, a second time!

For those who still get a "disconnect" about the relationship between Yeshua and Israel, let's look at Isaiah 60 and just marvel together! Read this Chapter twice - the first time, read it and ask God for the revelation to see how this Chapter is speaking of Israel and her coming Glory among the nations. Read it a second time and ask the Lord to give you the revelation of Yeshua, our Messiah, coming back to us. Notice the parallels of how the nations turn to Israel, and how they also turn to Him, and how the Glory comes to Zion.

"Lift up your eyes and look about you: all assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar and your daughters are carried on the hip. Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy..."

(Isaiah 60:4-5)

Every knee will bow at the coming of Yeshua (Philippians 2:9-11). Every soul will cast all their crowns and everything they have at His feet in worship. And also look at the parallel - Israel's destiny - the nations will serve her (Isaiah 60:10-12). The kingdoms will bring their wealth into the Land. How prophetic is Israel's calling and revealing of Yeshua, our King?

All nations and every tribe will come to worship Him. He is the Gateway into Life (John 10:7). We see also the imagery of gates related to Israel. We read that Israel's gates will always stand open (Isaiah 60:11). Ponder that He is the Gate, and ponder Israel's gates. Can you see how Yeshua and Israel reveal the same picture of God's plan?

Of Zion, God says,

"...you will call your walls Salvation (Yeshua) and your gates Praise (Yehudah/Judah)"

(Isaiah 60:18)

We see the Oneness of God and Israel - Israel's walls are called Salvation. Yeshua is Salvation. Israel's gates are called Praise. Yeshua is Praise, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Judah means Praise. He is the Light of the World, and fulfills the prophetic word about Israel through Himself.

"Arise, shine, for your Light has come, and the Glory of the Lord rises upon you".

(Isaiah 60:1)

Soon, His story will be completed, and we will enter the fullness of the Messianic Kingdom and it will flow into the eternal Kingdom. He is coming again. All His promises will reach their final and complete fulfillment on this restored planet. Israel will have totally fulfilled her destiny to be the blessing to all the nations through the revelation of Yeshua the Messiah. And Elohim, Father, Son, and Spirit, will be glorified forevermore in Zion.

"For my eyes have seen Your Salvation, which You have prepared in the sight of all the nations: a Light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the Glory of Your people Israel."

(Luke 2:30-32)

“No Fear” - message by Steve Martin

I love camels. They love me, or so I hope. (Steve Martin at Sea Level on the way to the Dead Sea, Israel. Nov. 1, 2025

Ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) men and boys gather in Jerusalem Oct. 30, 2015 to protest the law in the works to draft them into the IDF (Israel Defense Forces). Photo by Steve Martin 10.30.25

NO FEAR by Steve Martin

“There is no fear in love. On the contrary, love that has achieved its goal gets rid of fear, because fear has to do with punishment; the person who keeps fearing has not been brought to maturity in regard to love.” 1 John 4:18 CJB)

David Wilkerson, an American preacher, many knew as the author of The Cross and the Switchblade” (played by Pat Boone in the movie of the same title) went from a small town in Indiana to the ghetto gangs of New York City.

The Lord, Lover of all, had called him. In obedience he heard the command and set forth, not really knowing what he was getting into.

Being a man whom I consider one of having an adventurous spirit, I would have done that too. Only because I know the One who is leading me, the same one I trust leads you, knows what He is sending us into.

He knows. Think about that. That’s pretty much what you need to know.

The same One who sent David before Goliath. The same One who put Daniel in the lions’ den. The One and Only Who knows the end and the beginning, will call us to go “where no man has gone before” (Star Trek days).

No fear needs to be. If our faith is resting on His promise to always be with us, His love will clear the way before us. We can therefore walk in no fear.

I have heard from reliable sources here in Israel to be alert when walking among the Ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) due to their rigid stand on their understanding of biblical law. Never be within the community if you do not adhere to what they believe is truth.

And yet, the 3-4 times I have walked in Mea She’arim, the close-knit area in north Jerusalem, I think I was more inquisitive than “fearful”. I attribute it to the love of the Lord. No fear. His love.

As Nicolene Swart (Christian Friends of Israel co-worker) and I made our way through throngs of men and boys, clothed in solid black and white, trying to get back to the ministry office, my heart was of love. These had made the trek to come here, overcoming west Jerusalem as they converged on the capital city protesting IDF (Israel Defense Forces), I had no fear.

I don’t agree with their stance, but there is no animosity or disgust in my heart towards them. Yeshua’s love, whom they have yet to know, casts out my fear.

Our Lord loves them. Yeshua HaMashiach died for them too. His heart cries daily for their salvation also.

Having been brought to Jerusalem to share His love for them and all takes me to different persons (from me) and unknown places some would not venture to go. But I have Lord told the Lord repeatedly, “Lord, send me.”

And you know what? He has.

My hope and sincere prayer for you is that that which He has called you to do, you will do. Not because of your strength, your determination, in your power…but because, like David of old, and David of the NYC street gangs, you too will overcome any fear and do it.

Israel believes that the Hamas terrorist organization does not know the locations of three to five of the hostages' bodies that remain in the Gaza Strip, as the country prepares to receive the remains of two more hostages this weekend.

Hamas was holding 28 bodies at the start of the ceasefire, less than two weeks ago. Despite the terms demanding the return of all of them, Hamas has slow-walked the release of the bodies and, so far, has only handed over 15 of them. Two more are expected to be released over the weekend.

Israel has argued that Hamas is deliberately withholding some of the bodies it holds. Although the agreement requires the return of all the bodies, reports suggest that Israel agreed to give Hamas additional time to locate and recover remains that may be buried under rubble.

The terror group claims it has already transported all of the bodies in its possession and that it will need heavy equipment to retrieve the rest.

According to Israeli media reports on Thursday, defense officials shared intelligence with U.S. Vice President JD Vance during his visit, indicating that Hamas can return at least 10 of the 13 hostages' bodies still held in Gaza.

Ynet News quoted an Israeli official saying that Hamas doesn’t know the location of five of the bodies.

The terror group is “playing games, and playing for time, in order to extend the ceasefire without reaching the second stage [of the deal], which requires it to disarm,” the official charged.

He stressed, “Israel is pounding the table on the issue of the deceased, and the Americans understand us. Among the deceased are also two American citizens,” he added, referring to IDF Cpt. Omer Neutra and Staff Sgt. Itay Chen.

During the meeting with Vance, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and IDF Chief of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, reportedly, emphasized the importance to Israel of the return of all bodies of the killed hostages.

“Their return must be a prerequisite before moving to the next phase,” Zamir told Vance. He also highlighted the fate of IDF officer Hadar Goldin, whose body has been held in Gaza since 2014.

On Thursday, Hadar's sister, Ayelet, urged to the Israeli public to “go to the streets, attend the rallies, don’t remove this from the agenda.”

She warned that if Israel did not act now, “there will be another 12 Hadar Goldins.”

Rubi, father of Itay Chen, told Ynet News on Thursday, “There is a mix of feelings that is hard to explain. I expect to receive the worst phone call of my life, and in the end it doesn’t come and I’m disappointed.”

“We don’t buy what Hamas says,” he continued, “We don’t forget that they murdered and abducted them; they know where they put them. There is difficulty bringing them out. The relevant tools must be brought in and the deceased taken out.”

Ronen Neutra, father of Omer Neutra, said that his reality was “continuous terror.”

“Complete uncertainty, conflicting reports, fragments of information, most of which turn out to be false. It’s simply ongoing terror that the families are in and have to function in.”

“Life is precious. More so the blood.” Steve Martin, Love For His People. In Jerusalem.

Life is Precious. More So the Blood”

“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.” Rev. 12:11, NASB

As a young kid about 10 I was whittling on a piece of stick to make a knife. Imagine that - using a sharp knife to make a wooden knife. I was then going to pretend I was going to kill a rabbit in our yard with that homemade weapon.

And then I cut my left thumb (I still have the scare 60 years later to prove it) as I sliced across the wood.

But to make the half-carved piece of stick look like I had killed a rabbit with it, I let my life-giving blood drip down onto it. Young boys do weird things.

Going to Bet Shemesh, just about 19 west of Jerusalem, the Christian Friends of Israel Jerusalem staff, numbering close to 25, visited the ZAKA Search and Rescue organization on Oct. 22, 2025. CFI-Jerusalem had earlier provided funds for a highly sophisticated drone, which we were told had already saved a life from being taken by yet another terrorist.

Then we were told through testimony and film of the heroic, but very exhausting and superhuman efforts performed by ZAKA after the murderous, mutilating, hellish evil acts on Oct. 7, 2025 by terrorists, killing over 1400 Israeli Jews and other nationals. In addition, over 251 IDF soldiers and civilians were taken hostage back to Gaza.

Life is so precious to the Jewish nation of Israel. Not only did the ZAKA volunteers remove every Jewish body - those of slain babies, young children and adults of all ages who had been shot or sliced apart mercilessly - but they also treated the dead terrorists bodies with respect.

They meticulously cleaned up every drop of blood they could find - in the homes, bomb shelters, vehicles - because they know and understand that precious life is found in the blood.

What other nation would do that? I know not one.

But the Living God of Israel, HaShem, sent His Only Begotten Son Yeshua (“salvation” in Hebrew) over 2000 years ago to save His people, and all those who too would choose salvation found only in His Name, Jew or Gentile.

Being in this Land of Israel, among these God-fearing Jews, brings me closer to our Lord’s plans and purposes for mankind. He desires that they too know Him in spirit, soul and body.

Our prayer is, “Save Your people, Lord. May they call upon the Name of Yeshua (Jesus) and see Him. May they know the saving power of Your precious blood shed on their behalf too.”

Ahava (love) and Shalom (peace),

Steve Martin

His name was Charlie. New message by Steve Martin from Jerusalem

Oct. 19, 2025

Greetings to you once again.

We made it, basically with no hassles, to the Land of His Chosen people, the Jews, here in Jerusalem, Israel. Laurie and I are blessed, as Moses Julius likes to say from Pakistan.

For the first four nights we are staying in a hotel before moving into the CFI (Christian Friends of Israel) apartment in southeast Jerusalem. I like this "hole in the wall" 150 year old hotel building. It is located in the heart of Jerusalem where the "action" is. Read below to know more.

Ahava and shalom always to you,

Steve and Laurie Martin

P.S. I am thinking about doing two emails a week from Jerusalem? Good with you?

Israel Photo of the Week: My 85 year old friend Avraham Saidien really likes the new book I gave him yesterday, with his photo on the cover. His son David said he started having symptons of dementia two years ago. I love Avraham, ever since I met him 20 years ago in his Jerusalem shop. (Oct. 17, 2025 on Ben Yehuda Street in Jerusalem, Israel.)

His Name Was Charlie

“Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink?” Matthew 25:37, NASB

You can see a lot of things in the city of Jerusalem when the sun goes down. Especially around Zion Square on the corner of Jaffa Street and Ben Yehuda. When the day people go home, the night ones come out.

Waking up at 3:30 am has become somewhat of a routine for me. Sure, I get 5-6 hours of sleep nightly, and then throughout the day I call on the Name of the Lord for strength and endurance. So, when I continue that trend here in Jerusalem, He has His Holy Spirit lead me to ones I would never see in the daylight. For they are ones who like the nightlife.

As I sat on the wooden bench, listening to young “Mary”, with no socks on in the cool 58F temperature (cold for me, even with t-shirt, sweater and my new Iowa Hawkeyes hoodie on) sing along out loud to some song on her phone, Charlie walked up to me.

“Grocery store” as he pointed up Ben Yehuda Street. I immediately knew what he meant. The “24/6” corner market was open. He wanted, most likely needed, some food.

So, with his three garbage bags of his life belongings over his shoulder, I walked with him four blocks uphill to the store. A few minutes later, as I watched him carefully, he chose items from the shelves, including lunch meat, potato chips, two plastic cups of yogurt, and some bottled tea. He didn’t want the apple I tried giving him.

Then he laid the selections on the checkout counter, and I paid the $9.54 (with my US credit card in shekels before conversion). Then I left him, to walk back down the street to hear “Mary” singing louder.

Would I have done that in Charlotte, North Carolina? Maybe not. I would have just given the street man a dollar bill or so. But here, it seems different.

This is where Yeshua (Jesus) did what He now asks us to do. Follow in His footsteps. I am seeking to do so. Literally. Feed the poor, pray for the sick. Do it all in the Name of the Lord, who came to bring life to all.

“If there is a poor person among you, one of your brothers, in any of your towns in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother;” Deut. 15:7, NASB

When He speaks to your spirit, hear and obey. You will walk in adventure and give life to others too.

Ahava (love) and Shalom (peace),

Steve Martin

P.S. Laurie and I arrived in Jerusalem, Israel on Oct. 16, 2025, for three months. We will be serving with Christian Friends of Israel, entering their 41st year in Jerusalem walking among the Jews and more. We too will walk in faith and believe in the Lord to show Himself strong on our behalf. You can read further here: The Martins in Jerusalem

We welcome your prayers and support as we together bless Israel and His people in their Land.

Message #1 in my Jerusalem 2025 series: “His Name Was Charlie" – Oct. 19, 2025

My latest book was published on Aug. 18, 2025. Love For His People" Steve Martin (444 pages, 372 photos/images)

Remained #1 on the Amazon New Releases List for "Jerusalem Travel Guides" for a month. (I love taking people with me to the Land of Israel.)

In several of my previous 38 books, I wrote stories and chapters on Israel and our friends in the Land. Their lives, their courage, and the Ahava Adventures we have had, sharing our time with them in Eretz Yisrael.

In my desire to share these stories with you in a more concise manner, I have chosen the “best ones” and included in my book, “Love For His People – The Land and Friends in Israel”. (Aug. 2025)

Having given 39 years so far (and this being my 39th book!) to loving and supporting the Chosen People, as the Living God of Israel so ordained throughout the Bible of Christians and the Jewish people, it is proper and time to publish.

Sharing this book, containing some of my experiences in Jerusalem and all of Israel, is a joy, and also a promise to always stand with Israel. I know it will stir your heart as He reveals more of His plans for all.

Special Note: I have reduced the price on the hard cover and paperback, to just over my cost. I want you to have one. I will receive minimal royalty.

Buy now on Amazon, Hard cover $18.55, Paperback $12.95, Kindle $2.95

We certainly are grateful for your support, which we will use for our three volunteer months in Jerusalem. Contributions are welcome online by clicking here: DONATE HERE ON OUR WEBSITE
