Christian events in Jerusalem only if city's rabbis approve

Christian events in Jerusalem only if city's rabbis approve

Monday, June 29, 2015 |  Israel Today Staff
As thousands of Christians attended a conference at the Payis Arena last month, haredi ultra-Orthodox officials expressed their anger at the Municipality and the management of the Payis Arena for allowing a Christian organization to hold a conference at the venue last month. The event was eventually held as planned, despite the haredi outcry, due to legal issues involved in calling off the already approved event.
A protest by ultra-Orthodox followers was held which defined the event as a "major show of forced conversion," with the haredi media asserted that the event was aimed at convincing Jews to join Christianity with the help of missionaries who had arrived in Israel for that very purpose. There were a few arrests as the protesters ignored police directives and resorted to violence.
The Jerusalem Municipality decided to give in to the haredi demand concerning any future events and has agreed to consult the city's rabbis before approving and issuing permits for any future Christian event that may include "missionary activity".

Confidence - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Confidence
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

“Not that the troubles should come as any surprise to you. You've always known that we're in for this kind of thing. It's part of our calling.” (1 Thess. 3:3 THE MESSAGE)

The Lord is not surprised by events in the world. As an all-knowing God, He knows the end from the beginning. He is the Ruler of all, and nothing happens without His knowledge.

So where does that leave us when we see the acts of ungodly mankind rage around us, carrying out their evil desires and works? We must stand on the truth of His Word, knowing that “These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” (Jude 16-21 NKJV)

Our hearts and spirits do grieve as we see and hear of rejoicing over rulings in favor of same-sex marriage, and of other judgements passed by the “supreme court” of the land, which are contrary to that of God’s Eternal Word.  As we want to abide in a place where our children and grandchildren can have the presence of the Lord’s Spirit surround them, the atmosphere of the prevailing winds would seek to counter that desire, for those who do long for His kingdom to come.

Our confidence in the Lord can rest on His promise that at the proper time He will bring to an end the unrighteous and evil doings increasing in these last days. He will deliver His rewards to those who live according to His commandments, while striking down those opposed to abiding in His love.

When the darkness increases, the light of His glory will shine ever bright. His eternal plan will not be prevented from being accomplished, to establish His rule and reign in the heavens and on the earth. Continuing to walk and trust in the Lord’s solid Word will bring us through to the end, and we will see His truth come marching in.

As it is written in Psalm 97, “The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad! Clouds and darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. A fire goes before Him, and burns up His enemies round about. His lightnings light the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples see His glory.

Let all be put to shame who serve carved images, who boast of idols. Worship Him, all you gods. Zion hears and is glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments, O Lord. For You, Lord, are most high above all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods. You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name." (NKJV)

Our hearts need not be surprised at what is happening around us, nor should we be afraid of what may come our way. For our times are in the Lord’s hands, and He will see us through to the end, as we keep our trust in Him. Our confidence remains in the Lord.

The Late Chuck Colson Prophesied This Woeful Day in American History

The Late Chuck Colson Prophesied This Woeful Day in American History

Chuck Colson
Chuck Colson forewarned of this day before his death. (Courtesy)
"Even though we won the vote in Congress, we ultimately lost in the court of public opinion. We're painted as bigots in the media, we're driven into the corner. And the Supreme Court, which will ultimately have the final say and has already tipped its hand in Romer, will rule against us."
"But now, religious freedom may have to settle for equality with freedom of sexual expression, because it is overriding religious freedom at every turn. This is the battle we're having with a number of great cultural pressures. We can't stand for the Defense of Marriage Act, even if, with us, it's a matter of religious conscience, because to do so is to 'do harm to gays.'"
"The gay rights juggernaut is grinding down on us. It's the most ominous threat on the horizon in America, and with all the threats we have that's a pretty big statement—because it threatens not only to institute something which is an abomination to God, but also to crush our religious liberties in the process."
"Homosexual 'marriage' is redefining who we are. It's redefining what the creation is about and what it's for. It isn't simply about any two (or more) people of the same sex coming together, enjoying each other, and sharing joint benefits.
We call marriage a sacrament because it is a sign of God and His creation. It's the definition of the word creation. We've got to restore this and teach it in the churches. We've got to take this simple little nugget of truth and build on it so that eventually we permeate public consciousness with the realization that this isn't just about equality. This isn't just about rights for gays versus straights. This isn't about civil rights. This is about the plan of creation. And if we destroy that, we're going to bring the wrath of God upon us. We're actually going to destroy the very nature of the world we live in, the very purpose of the world and the very purpose of life."
"In a very short time it will be impossible to preach that homosexual behavior is a sin. How do you teach that something is a sin when society is saying it is simply a legitimate choice? This is the camel's nose under the tent. This is why the homosexual issue is about a lot more than gay rights. It's about destructing the moral order of society, and the people behind it know that. They really are moral nihilists at heart."
"Now look at the debate going on regarding whether homosexual behavior is immoral. What has for centuries been regarded as immoral and a perversion, a distortion of the natural or created order, has now become moral. In fact, it is an act of bigotry to criticize it. This is incrementalism, cushioning us against what seems so hard at first. You just kind of get used to it; it's like pornography. After a while, people don't think it's so bad after all; they just get used to it."
"I think the attacks on Christians for their stand on marriage is the latest assault by the left on religious liberty. It's going to be the acid test. Martin Luther King Jr. quoted Augustine, who wrote that an unjust law is no law at all. If we're not willing to fight this, even to the point of breaking the law, or refusing to recognize the law, then we will lose everything. I think our backs are to the wall, and if your pastor doesn't have the courage to speak out on this issue, look for another church."

"Keys to Open Up Blessings" and "Don't Agree with the Plans of Darkness" - Doug Addison

"Keys to Open Up Blessings" and "Don't Agree with the Plans of Darkness"
Doug Addison, Los Angeles, CA
The Elijah List

Have you heard any of the negative rumors that people are saying about how the economy and the Stock Market are going to crash? Have you heard people saying that God is judging the world? Some people are actually saying that God is about to shake the world to its core and that God will use this crash to transfer the wealth of the wicked into the hands of the righteous (Proverbs 13:22).

For this reason they are pulling their money out of the market and storing up finances. This is not what God is calling us to do right now. This kind of thinking is driven by spiritual pride and instills fear in people.

We have to be careful that we don't buy into this and actually cause the economy to crash from self-fulfilling prophecies and activities.

What I am hearing from God is that yes, there are difficult times and turmoil happening even now. People are misinterpreting what they are hearing and seeing. This is not the destruction or judgment level of a total worldwide crash.

I heard God clearly and have been releasing prophetic words that we are in a seven-year season to prepare for repayment and blessing. God is bringing a window of opportunity to finance Kingdom projects needed to bring a long overdue revival and awakening. (Photo via Doug Addison)

Keys to Blessings

God is trying to shake us awake to the fact that we hold the keys to life. We have the keys to blessing, and we can change the spiritual atmosphere, but we have to come into agreement with it. Instead people are agreeing with the plan of darkness to destroy us before our appointed time. This is the very reason that revivals are being delayed.
Reality is that loving people is a major key to this next move of God

I remember the late prophet Bob Jones would talk about the one billion-soul harvest. Every time he talked about it he would say, "It is going to cost a lot of money because this group is young and broke." This is the very reason it is not the season to pull back financially.

We need to get God's strategies for Kingdom financial blessings.

How to Change the Atmosphere

We need to understand and regularly practice the positive spiritual principles of praying for those who curse us, loving those who hate us, giving to those in need, helping the oppressed, being humble, forgiving those who offend us... the list is actually too long to show here, but you get the picture. Notice that most of these principles are relationally-oriented. They teach us how to relate with others and with God.

We can change the spiritual atmosphere around us by loving, blessing, and being an encouragement everywhere we go. Many people love God, but when no one is looking, they can be guilty of mistreating or being mean to people.

The fun part of focusing on blessing people is that, if you do these things regularly, the principle of sowing and reaping will eventually kick in. Your life will be overflowing with many of the good things that you gave out to others, to the point that you cannot help but change the world around you.

Matthew 16:19 NET "I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in Heaven, and whatever you release on earth will have been released in Heaven."

These words of Jesus tell us that there are things we can do on earth that can actually restrict the heavenly flow of blessings and creativity to us. And there are positive actions we can take on earth that can open up the heavens around us.

This is a time to be aligned with God's plan and intention for your life. It's not a time to pull back in fear but instead to be the key to blessing people. As we do, the windows of Heaven will be opened over us.

Blessings,

Christians in Deep Danger: 'We Dare Not Be Silent'

Christians in Deep Danger: 'We Dare Not Be Silent'

From Egypt, to Syria and Iraq, ancient Christian communities --among the world's oldest -- are under threat of extinction.

"Christians and other minorities are in deep danger and we dare not be silent. The time to speak is now," said Katrina Lantos Swett, chairman of the United States Commission on International Freedom.

Swett delivered that message at the recent 6th Annual Coptic Solidarity Conference in Washington, D.C., on persecution in the Middle East.

So, why should Americans, or other Westerners, get involved? Swett says religious extremism crosses oceans and continents.

"When Coptic Christians in Egypt are jailed for blasphemy or attacked by extremists for supposedly violating such laws and we are silent, we should not be surprised when attacks commence in the streets of Paris or elsewhere," she said.

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said," America is in a place to stop the persecution of Christians in numbers never before seen in the world. God has allowed us to be at that place."

But before America and other nations can respond effectively, they must face the truth about what is happening and why.

Middle East analyst and author Raymond Ibrahim blames the media.

"We know about this ISIS thing because ISIS wants you to know and the media if anything has responded by giving us a plethora of editorials trying to convince us that what ISIS is doing is not Islamic," he explained.

Ibrahim says American leaders must speak the truth about the atrocities -- like the beheading of Coptic Christians in Libya.

"According to the White House, it was just 21 Egyptians who were randomly killed, not because they're Christians, not because of their faith and so forth," Ibrahim said.

U.S. Religious Freedom Ambassador at Large Rabbi David Saperstein is urgently concerned about Iraqi and Syrian Christians. Their numbers have dwindled to a fraction of what they were just 20 years ago.

"Now, if we're going to preserve those communities, we know what needs to be done," Saperstein said. "First, until ISIL is pushed out, those displaced communities need to be able to live with a quality of life that will be an incentive for them to remain."

And that means providing security and stability for them, along with better health care and schools for their children.

Rep. Diane Black, R-Tenn., says people of the United States need to act.

"We cannot stand by and watch this," Black said. "We have a moral obligation to act in defense of our brothers and sisters abroad."

So, Christian activists in Washington are once again speaking loudly, reminding President Barack Obama and the U.S. Congress that something needs to be done quickly to protect these ancient Christian communities from annihilation. And they say they'll keep speaking until something is done -- and they start listening.

Shabbat Shalom ✡ "Water from the Rock"

You shall bring forth water for them from the rock and give the congregation and their livestock to drink.

NUMBERS (20:8)

וְהוֹצֵאתָ לָהֶם מַיִם מִן הַסֶּלַע וְהִשְׁקִיתָ אֶת הָעֵדָה וְאֶת בְּעִירָם

בְּמִדְבַּר כ:ח

v'-ho-tzay-ta la-hem mai-yim min ha-se-la v'-hish-kee-ta et ha-ay-da v'-et b'-ee-ram

Shabbat Inspiration

This Shabbat we read from Numbers 19 - 21 which contains the perplexing passage of Moses hitting the rock. God tells Moses to speak to the rock in order to bring forth waterbut Moses hits the rock instead and is given a terribly harsh punishment: “since you didn’t sanctify me in front of the people.” Although difficult to comprehend, the simple explanation is that while Moses understood the water from the rock was God’s doing, he didn't make it sufficiently clear to the rest of the Children of Israel and consequently avoided honoring God. The lesson for us is that it's not enough if we recognize God in our life or if we love what God has done for Israel, we must inform our friends and colleagues as well.
