You shall bring forth water for them from the rock and give the congregation and their livestock to drink.

Shabbat Inspiration

This Shabbat we read from Numbers 19 - 21 which contains the perplexing passage of Moses hitting the rock. God tells Moses to speak to the rock in order to bring forth waterbut Moses hits the rock instead and is given a terribly harsh punishment: “since you didn’t sanctify me in front of the people.” Although difficult to comprehend, the simple explanation is that while Moses understood the water from the rock was God’s doing, he didn't make it sufficiently clear to the rest of the Children of Israel and consequently avoided honoring God. The lesson for us is that it's not enough if we recognize God in our life or if we love what God has done for Israel, we must inform our friends and colleagues as well. Have we shared our love for Israel with our friends and colleagues? Get more Israel inspiration in the Israel Bible Reading Plan with an online teacher!

First Humans May Have Originated in Israel

Ancient teeth found in a cave near Rosh Ha’ayin in Israel may demonstrate that humanity developed first, not in Africa, but in the Middle East.

Today's Israel Photo

Today’s photo is by one of our favorite contributors, Boruch Len, who as you can tell is an amazing photographer. Unfortunately he has a serious eye condition and is having a third surgery to try to save his eyesight. While we pray the surgery will be successful, Boruch is incurring heavy medical expenses and if you can help him in any way, please click here.

I enjoy Israel365 very much. The daily reading always gives me much to think about. We have a group that meets for prayer every Thursday and Israel and Mr. Netanyahu are always on our minds, in our hearts, and in our prayers. The articles you include are diverse and informative. Someday I hope to visit Israel, and its capital Jerusalem. Shalom. Shirley, La Salle, Illinois USA
