At Trump Inauguration, Charismatic Leaders Pray Boldly in Jesus' Name. Is This Foreshadowing a New Day in America?

STEVE STRANG  CHARISMA MAGAZINE
Strang Report, by Steve Strang, Founder of Charisma magazine
What a historic day in America. Today the inauguration of Donald J. Trump was bathed in prayer! And in his inauguration speech, the new chief executive called on God to protect us.
Of the six who prayed, one was a rabbi and another a Catholic priest. The other four were strong evangelical Christians, and each unapologetically prayed in Jesus' name.
I wanted to stand up and cheer, but I was too hemmed in by the crowd on the mall. (Read my previous report here). All I could do was videotape the prayers given by Rev. Samuel Rodriguez and Pastor Paula White-Cain, both of whom I've known since the late 1990s and both of whom have been on the cover of Charisma.
Franklin Graham of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Bishop Wayne T. Jackson, pastor of Great Faith Ministries International, prayed powerful benedictions. Graham also mused that rain is a sign of God's blessing. It began sprinkling as Trump took the oath of office.
Trump has said he knew evangelical support helped him win the White House. He has reached out to and taken counsel from such evangelical leaders as James Robison and Darrell Scott. But long before either of them supported Trump, Paula White-Cain (who now pastors in Orlando) was praying with Trump and gathering leaders.
I knew Paula back when Trump contacted her after watching her television program. She told us stories about meeting with the tycoon and talking to him about the Lord—never did we dream someday he would be president.
A friendship developed, and in 2012 when Trump was thinking about running for president, he asked Paula to gather a group of pastors to pray with him about running. Of course, he decided to wait until 2016, but Paula had established herself in a key role as a spiritual adviser.
Sadly, some so-called evangelical leaders have attacked Paula for being non-Trinitarian and for being an advocate of the prosperity gospel. In the time I've known her, I've never heard her deny the Trinity. Like most charismatics and as a former member of the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee), she believes and preaches on the Trinity.
She refutes that she believes in the prosperity gospel. If she says so, I believe her. Maybe some of her friends in the black community teach it (she pastors a predominantly African-American church), but not Paula. Another charismatic leader lamenting those attacks said those doing it have a history of blasting charismatics in general, so this goes with the turf.
Today, Pastor Paula and Rev. Samuel Rodriquez were undoubtedly the first charismatic leaders to pray at a presidential inauguration.
Rodriguez's National Hispanic Christian Leadership Council (NHCLC) issued a press release saying he is the first Hispanic pastor to pray at a presidential inauguration and also the first ordained Assemblies of God pastor to have such a role.
Rodriguez's prayer was mostly reciting Scripture:
"God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for Him and the kingdom of heaven is theirs. God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the earth. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are those who are pure in heart, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called children of God. God blesses those who are persecuted, for doing right for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. And God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are My followers. You are the light of the world, like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on its stand where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, and everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Respectfully, in Jesus' name."
Paula's prayer was even longer and I found it very moving. She said, in part:
"In the name of Jesus, with grateful hearts, thanking You for this great country that You have decreed to Your people. We acknowledge we are a blessed nation with a rich history of faith and fortitude with a future that is filled with promise and purpose. We recognize that every good and every perfect gift comes from You, and the United States of America is Your gift for which we proclaim our gratitude. As a nation, we now pray for our president, Donald John Trump, Vice President Michael Richard Pence and their families. We ask that You would bestow upon our president the wisdom necessary to lead this great nation, the grace to unify us and the strength to stand for what is honorable and right in Your sight.
"In Proverbs 21:1, You instruct us that our leader's heart is in Your hands. Gracious God, reveal unto our president the ability to know the will, Your will, the confidence to lead us in justice and righteousness and the compassion to yield to our better angels. While we know there are many challenges before us, in every generation You have provided the strength and power to become that blessed nation. Guide us in discernment, Lord, and give us that strength to persevere and thrive. Now bind and heal our wounds and divisions, and join our nation to Your purpose.
"'Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,' the psalmist declared. Let Your favor be upon this one nation under God. Let these United States of America be that beacon of hope to all people and nations under Your dominion. A true hope for humankind. Glory to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen."

Trump's Inauguration Showcases Power of Prayer - TAYLOR BERGLUND CHARISMA NEWS

Trump's Inauguration Showcases Power of Prayer

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

President Donald J. Trump's inaugural address was full of many promises for the future. But charismatic believers may have been most delighted by the promise of America united, once again, under God.
The inauguration ceremony featured six prayers by key figures, including Franklin Graham, Paula White and Samuel Rodriguez. The new president referred to God three times in his speech. The ceremony was so Spirit-saturated that an uninformed observer could easily mistake the inauguration ceremony for a church service.
The ceremony's invocation began with Timothy Cardinal Dolan, the Catholic archbishop of New York. "Give us wisdom, for we are your servants weak and short lived, lacking in comprehension of judgment and of laws," he prayed. "Indeed, though one might be perfect among mortals, if wisdom which comes from you be lacking, we account for nothing."
Rev. Samuel Rodriguez spoke next, praying scripture from Matthew 5:3-16: "Blessed are those who are pure at heart, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will called children of God. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs. And, God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you, and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers."
Paula White-Cain concluded the invocation, praying: "Gracious God, reveal unto our president the ability to know the will, Your will, the confidence to lead us in justice and righteousness and the compassion to yield to our better angels. While we know there are many challenges before us, in every generation, You have provided the strength and power to become that blessed nation. Guide us in discernment, Lord, and give us that strength to persevere and thrive. Now, bind and heal our wounds and divisions, and join our nation to Your purpose."
During his inaugural address, President Trump quoted Scripture, saying, "When you open your heart to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice. The Bible tells us, 'How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity.' We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly, but always pursue solidarity. When America is united, America is totally unstoppable."
Later, Trump acknowledged the power of God. "We are protected, and we will always be protected," he said. "We will be protected by the great men and women of our military and law enforcement and, most importantly, we are protected by God."
He concluded his remarks by publicly thanking God, at which point the benediction began. Rabbi Marvin Hier began, saying, "Eternal God, bless President Donald J. Trump and America, our great nation. Guide us to remember the words of the psalmist: 'Who may dwell on your holy mountain? One who does what is right and speaks the truth.'"
Franklin Graham remarked on the ceremony's rainy conditions, suggesting it could be a sign of God's favor. "Mr. President, in the Bible, rain is a sign of God's blessing," Graham said. "And it started to rain, Mr. President, when you came to the platform. And it's my prayer that God will bless you, your family, your administration, and may He bless America."
Finally, Bishop Wayne T. Jackson concluded: "Today we pray for our 45th president, the vice president and their families. Give them the wisdom to guide this great nation, the strength to protect it and the hands to heal it. We bless President Donald J. Trump. We ask that you give him the wisdom of Solomon, the vision of Joseph and the meekness of Christ—Solomon, who kept peace among many nations; Joseph, who dreamt better for the people; and Christ, who accepted us all."
Believers, let us keep our new president and vice president in prayer as they begin the difficult task of leading this country.

When It’s All Been Said And Done - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

When It’s All Been Said And Done

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

"And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.”
(Daniel 2:21, NKJV)

Don Moen, a worship leader whom I greatly appreciate for his songs of love and adoration, wrote beautiful words for one particular message in 2004, entitled “When It’s All Been Said And Done” (Integrity Music). It had been awhile since I sang the song in my head, but today I did.

The past few days have been ones to contemplate on the goodness of the Lord Jesus, and to try and realize even more just what the Lord has done. It is good to contemplate on the truth that when it is all said and done, He is the life worth living for.

When it's all been said and done
There is just one thing that matters
Did I do my best to live for truth?
Did I live my life for you?

When it's all been said and done
All my treasures will mean nothing
Only what I've done
For love's reward
Will stand the test of time

Lord, your mercy is so great
That you look beyond our weakness
And find purest gold in miry clay
Turning sinners into saints

I will always sing your praise
Here on earth and ever after
For you've shown me heaven’s my true home
When it's all been said and done
You're my life when life is gone...

(2004 Integrity Music Thank You Lord album)

In America, we sense a new day has come upon our land. A refreshing and merciful wind of change, bringing national leadership in our federal government that will call upon the Name of the Lord, is here. Even on January 20, 2017, as he gave his inaugural address, President Donald Trump asked for the Lord’s protection, read from His eternal word, and had chosen several ministers, who during the ceremony, were not afraid to pray “In Jesus’ Name.” For this we are most grateful.

Those who have stood the past eight years and more for biblical truths, including those that declare that marriage is between a man and a woman; that sacred love extends towards those having new life yet in the womb; and for righteous laws that protect the freedom of Christians to speak – received renewed hope in the sovereignty of the Lord God Almighty. He had spoken from His heavenly throne, declaring His ongoing, active involvement in the lives of His people.

When all has been said and done, when the things of earth have passed away and the new heavens have come, we will more fully realize that what He has promised will come about; what He has spoken will be held true; and what He has decreed will be made known by all of mankind.

He alone places men and women in power to carry out His eternal plans.

Just as in the days of old, so too in our time we see His hand of protection and merciful guidance over those who call upon His name.

“Daniel answered and said:
"Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.
And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.

He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him.

"I thank You and praise You,
O God of my fathers;
You have given me wisdom and might,
And have now made known to me what we asked of You,
For You have made known to us the king's demand."

(Daniel 2:20-23, NKJV)

Now is the time to call upon the Name of the Lord, the everlasting God of Israel, to lead us in the way we are to go. Now even more is the call to stand firm upon His Word, speak His truth, and see our God rule and reign in our midst.

Thank you Jesus.

"Prophetic Words for President Trump" and "Stand Tall America! You Will Lead the World Into a New Day!"
Stephen Powell, Fort Mill, SC

Prophetic word of the Lord for President Trump:

I hear the Lord say, "I have chosen you Mr. Trump, and you will be a leader to many, not just of your people, but of the world. You will not just be seen Mr. Trump, but you will be heard, for I have released a sound in you, and that sound shall be heard around the world. It will ring true and loud, and be like a shock-wave in many countries where tyranny has reigned, and they will not be able to keep it out," says the Lord.

"For I will raise up this sound in others, even as I have raised it up in you. It's the sound of the Trumpet of the Lord, a sound of victory, a sound of freedom, a sound of faith.

"Hearts will rise to meet world problems based on the sound I've released," says the Lord. "Fear will be replaced with faith, doubt with optimism, for tomorrow will be greater than the former days," says the Lord. "My people will hear the sound and they will believe it.

"I see this man's anointing being sent out like an electrical shock wave which will awaken the heart of freedom in nations that have not beat with it in generations," says the Lord. "The earth will see, and hear, and seek refuge in Me. This is the hour of My refuge," says the Lord.

"Stand Tall America, and Honor Israel"

"America, America, I have called you in this hour," says the Lord. "To stand tall, to stand free, to stand independent and sovereign, in the light of My glory. You will lead the world into a new day, My day, My vision, My heart," says the Lord.

"As you honor Israel, I will honor you. As you remember the poor once again I will remember you. As you feed the hungry, I will feed you. And nothing will stop you. You are an unstoppable nation, a moving force for good and greatness, in the sight of the nations," says the Lord.

"I have chosen Donald Trump to forerun a new model of national leader; yea, even a new form of world leader," says the Lord. "This man will batter through demonic barriers, even on the world stage, which no man or woman in world history, has been able to have the breakthrough in before. But I have anointed him for this time, and his strength is not his own. I have assigned My angels to assist him in the breakthrough, to remove every stumbling block, to extract every demonic levy.

"His sound will be heard and felt, and I will put My fear on entire nations who see, and fear, and do not understand My working in this man," says the Lord. "For he will demonstrate something that I have chosen him for, a unique office, a unique position, a unique role. And many will follow after him, not just in America, but in the nations," says the Lord.

"Is My arm shortened, has My heart grown dim in the dark places of the world? Have I forgotten My people whom I love, whom I died for, whom I shed the innocent Blood for, even of My only begotten Son, to save them?" says the Lord.

"Trump Will Bear My Heart—Fearless in the Face of the Demonic"

"No, I have not forgotten you, I have not forsaken you. In this hour of awakening, you will know My heart, and you will know My strength, and you will know My plan," says the Lord. "Every child I see, every child I hear, and this man, whom I have chosen, will bear the weight of the world on his shoulders, and in doing so he will bear My heart. I will move his heart while he's in office, and he will continue to sacrifice much, for My people," says the Lord.

"He will continue to give much of his fortune, and much of his life, for this cause which I have yoked his heart to. And this cause, which he has not yet fully understood himself, shall continue to take hold of him and consume his heart. I will make him a compassionate leader, a loving leader, but a strong leader, fearless in the face of the demonic," says the Lord.

"Let the spirit of breakthrough flow through this man's administration, as the breakthrough of Heaven's armies continue to invade the earth, even Africa, even the Sudan, even the far east, parts of the world broken, uncontended, I will contend for your heart," says the Lord.

"I will release in the valleys of darkness, in the places of captivity, in the strongholds of religion and men. For it is time for the piercing light of My Word to go deeper and deeper. I will continue to go deeper into India, deeper into the Sudan, deeper into Saudi Arabia, deeper into Iran. I will break apart your foundations, and build new ones in the apostolic, new ones in love, new ones in Me," says the Lord.

"And My Kingdom will advance, My Kingdom will wage war, for the battle is Mine," says the Lord! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List go here.)

It's Finally Morning Again in America, and a New Day for Our Country Starts Now

MICHAEL SNYDER  CHARISMA NEWS
For the first time in decades, it feels like morning in America again.
I was quite young when Ronald Reagan was president, and I only have vague memories from those days. But I do remember the extraordinary optimism his leadership inspired, and my hope is that Donald Trump's leadership will be just as inspirational. For such a very long time, it has seemed as though a giant dark cloud has been hanging over America, but now a new day is starting. If Donald Trump can be president of the United States, it seems like just about anything can be possible. And even though our nation is facing incredibly serious challenges, could it be possible that we can find a way to turn things around if we all work together?
Seeing Trump on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday was a very special moment. Like Lincoln, Trump represents a once in a generation hope for real change.
Kicking off three days of carefully orchestrated inaugural proceedings infused with pomp and guided by precision and protocol, the president-elect reveled in the moment and delivered a tribute to the populist movement that propelled him into office.
"We all got tired of seeing what was happening and we wanted change, but we wanted real change," Trump said on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. "It's a movement like we've never seen anywhere in the world, they say."
Inaugurations are a time for hope, and tens of millions of us are hoping the election of Trump will mean a better future for all of us.
But of course, so many among the elite hate him with a passion, and there are many in both parties that will be fighting him every step of the way.
Can Trump really be successful in such an environment?
We shall see, but what seems clear is that he doesn't plan to change who he is now that he will be residing in the White House, and this is clearly rankling a lot of people.
Donald Trump enters the White House on Friday just as he entered the race for president: defiant, unfiltered, unbound by tradition and utterly confident in his chosen course.
In the 10 weeks since his surprise election as the nation's 45th president, Trump has violated decades of established diplomatic protocol, sent shockwaves through business boardrooms, tested long-standing ethics rules and continued his combative style of replying to any slight with a personal attack — on Twitter and in person.
In his inaugural address, Trump will plead for national unity, and that is a good thing because our nation is deeply divided right now. As a new Rasmussen survey has discovered, most of the country has a very strong opinion about him either one way or the other.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters share a favorable opinion of Trump, with 30% who have a Very Favorable one. The president-elect is viewed unfavorably by 48%, including 37% with a Very Unfavorable view.
But the good news is that Americans are feeling quite good about life overall these days. In fact, an astounding 80 percent of all Americans are content with "the overall quality of life" that they are enjoying at the moment.
Americans are feeling far more upbeat this January than they were a year ago, especially about the economy, according to Gallup's annual "Mood of the Nation" poll, which is conducted each January.
The most recent poll, conducted Jan. 4-8, finds a whopping 80 percent of Americans are satisfied with "the overall quality of life," up four points from a year ago.
If Donald Trump can bring the nation together, perhaps the next four (or eight) years can be a time of renewal for America.
An immense amount of damage was done during the Obama years, and Trump has a massive amount of work ahead of him. But he seems to have a boundless amount of energy, and he is accustomed to only sleeping a handful of hours a night.
Let us pray that Trump and his team will make good decisions and will set this nation on the right course, because we are in desperate need of a turnaround.
Earlier today, I came across a piece from an anonymous source that is entitled "'Twas the Night Before Inauguration." The anonymous source indicated that it was OK to share this with others, and so I thought that I would share it with all of you.
'Twas the night before Inauguration, and up in the tower,
The Donald reflected on his newfound power.
The conservative masses had come out in force,
And delivered a victory that would chart a new course.
The snowflakes were shell-shocked with tears in their eyes,
The media lied to them ... What a surprise.
They had been promised a Hillary win,
But the criminal Clinton took one on the chin.
And though from all corners celebrities flew,
They made no impression, for they hadn't a clue.
They talked about climate, racism and such,
And they made up good stories ... but didn't know much.
The fake news and ignorance came at a cost,
And they can't understand all the reasons they lost.
They blame it on Comey and Bernie and Vlad,
But fail to acknowledge the one that was bad.
Yes, Hillary Clinton, in many ways flawed,
Was her own biggest hurdle toward getting the nod.
The campaign exposed her corruption and greed,
And her speeches were punchless as 10-dollar weed.
So out in the streets there arose such a clatter,
It was Soros-paid protestors and Black Lives Matter.
With cities to pillage and windows to smash,
They knew not the issues, but needed the cash.
Eight years of Obama had given them cause,
To expect a replacement of their Santa Claus.
But soon the protesters will feel the pain,
When the wheels fall off of the old gravy train.
And now all the snowflakes are riddled with fear,
Upset and offended by things that they'll hear.
The cocoa and crayons will help for a while,
But fact-based opinions will soon cramp their style.
I originally supported, and voted, for Cruz,
In the end, I would vote for whoever they choose.
He wasn't my first choice, but soon I would cede,
The one they call Trump is the one whom we need.
I saw him on TV in front of a crowd,
He spoke about veterans, it made me feel proud.
He spoke about energy, safety and jobs,
Taking this country back from the Washington snobs.
He was dressed in Armani, all tailored and neat,
And the Brunos he wore made the outfit complete.
For a man of his vintage, he seemed rather fit,
And he looked presidential, I have to admit.
His eyes glowed like embers, his smile was the best,
And his hair was the color of my old hunting vest.
His love for this country was on full display,
And his actions spoke louder than his words could say.
He thanked all his voters, and before he was gone,
Saved thousands of jobs while Obama looked on.
The fate of this country left nothing to chance,
So he filled out his cabinet weeks in advance.
The men he had chosen were of the same mind,
Let's set the bar high, and not lead from behind.
He picked up his phone as he rose from his seat,
With a flick of his finger, he sent out this tweet;
"Now Mattis! Now Kelly! Now Sessions! And Pruitt!
On Perry! On Flynn! You're the ones who can do it.
Start lifting restrictions and building the wall,
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
The roar of his audience rose from the stands,
He kissed all their babies and shook all their hands.
He answered their questions and calmed all their fears,
They knew it would be a fantastic four years.
Then he jumped in his limo, and off to his jet,
A fellow that liberals won't soon forget.
He sent one more tweet as the evening expired:
"Happy Inauguration to all,
And Obama, you're fired!"
I just thought that piece wonderfully captured the flavor of the moment.
And another work that is being widely shared today is an old song titled "In America" by the Charlie Daniels Band. It was released in May 1980 just before Ronald Reagan was elected, but the lyrics are also perfect for what is happening in our time. If you are not familiar with the song, you can find it on YouTube right here.
Without a doubt, there will be some intense political battles in the days ahead.
I am not saying that everything has been fixed just because Donald Trump has been elected, nor am I suggesting that any of our problems have diminished in any way.
The challenges ahead of us are truly great, but at least the election of Donald Trump has given us a glimmer of hope, and there are many who believe that a new day for America may finally be dawning after all these years.

JESSILYN JUSTICE  CHARISMA NEWS
Prophet Rick Joyner said many members of Congress and the American people are sleeping through a revolution by not watching Donald Trump's inauguration.
The Morningstar Ministries Founder issued these wise words via Facebook just 24 hours before Trump was sworn in:
President Trump will begin his administration with a team unlike any we since possibly the cabinet of George Washington. The American Revolution was like no other revolution in history, being led by those who were the wealthiest and most successful in the nation. They had the most to lose, but that had such a compelling vision of freedom and justice that they were compelled to risk it all.
After five years of fighting the most powerful empire and military in the world, and finally prevailing, The Founding Fathers continued to sacrifice their time efforts to form and help establish the new government on a solid foundation. They served in their government not as a privilege, but as a duty, paying their own way, with few personal benefits. It was not until the passing of the Founders that the professional politicians began to gradually seize the U.S. government and gradually turn it into one of the most inefficient, dysfunctional governments in the world. Tomorrow the wresting of control of our government from the hands of the professional politicians, the self-seeking and the self-serving, will begin, as a new breed of leader takes over.
Virtually all of the top leaders in the Trump Administration are making a great sacrifice to put what they have built into the hands of others so that they can serve their country. Donald Trump may be the first President we have had who is not beholden to any special interest groups, and not even to his own party establishment, which he also had to fight to win the office.
There are many liberals who disdain our new President's conservative values, and there are conservatives who disdain him because he could not be controlled by them, but one thing is certain--he may be the first President we have had in a long time who can do what he thinks is the right thing to do for his country. Tomorrow will be a historic day, and has a very good chance of being one that future historians look back on as the beginning of the Second American Revolution.
Tomorrow sixty plus members of congress will refuse to attend the Inauguration, and many Americans will refuse to even watch it.
In one of his great speeches, Martin Luther King, Jr. compared such to Rip Van Winkle. As MLK said in that speech, the remarkable thing about Rip Van Winkle was not that he slept for twenty years, but that he slept through a great revolution.
