ANALYSIS: WHY A PHOTO-OP OF PM AND TRUMP AT THE WESTERN WALL MATTERS

Trump’s trip comes as the issue of Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem in general and the Old City specifically has been hotly contested by the international community.

For Israel, a photograph of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Western Wall with President Donald Trump could be worth more than a thousand words.

One can almost see Netanyahu playing the professorial role he so loves, explaining to Trump about King Herod and the ancient site that bears testimony to the steadfast Jewish roots to the Land of Israel and its holy city of Jerusalem.

It would also be one more Netanyahu mark on Israeli history: he would be the prime minister that accompanied the first sitting US president when he visited the Western Wall.

But this is about more than a glorified selfie or a vanity play.

rump’s trip comes as the issue of Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem in general and the Old City specifically has been hotly contested by the international community, which prefers to settle the city’s status within the context of a final-status solution with the Palestinians.

The United States government is divided on the issue with congressional legislation, passed in 1995, mandating that the US Embassy be relocated to Jerusalem.

A 1980 UN Security Council resolution called on nations to remove their respective embassies from Jerusalem to protest Israel’s annexation of areas of the city over the pre- 1967 lines. The State Department and the White House have held by this view, with US presidents waiving execution of the legislation twice a year. The next deadline for such a waiver is June 1.

Earlier this month UNESCO’s Executive Board passed a resolution disavowing Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem.

In December, the Security Council, in Resolution 2334, affirmed the illegality of Israeli sovereignty in east Jerusalem, including the Old City and the Western Wall.

The double votes underscore the tenuous nature of Israel’s hold on its capital city, precisely as Israel readies to celebrate 50 years of the city’s reunification in the Six Day War.

An announcement by Trump during his visit that he planned to make good on his preelection promise to relocate the embassy, would have been a statement of legitimacy by the US in support of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Since US officials have explained that this will not happen, the visual images of Trump with Netanyahu at the Western Wall could have subtly indicated that the White House considered the site part of Israel.

Such a diplomatic nod by Israel’s strongest ally would help bolster Israel’s claim to Jerusalem on the international stage.

It’s presumed Trump wouldn’t even take this small step because he wants to avoid angering the Palestinians or the larger Arab world on the subject of Jerusalem, precisely at the moment he is pushing for a peace deal to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Trump, therefore, is likely to stand alone, with Western Wall and Holy Site's Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz as Israel’s sole representative.

Such a solitary visit waters down the issue to a much more ambiguous statement.

It’s like a coin, Trump can turn from side to side, depending on the diplomatic message that suits him.

To the Israelis, Trump can say, he supports Israeli and Jewish history in Jerusalem, after all he visited the Western Wall.

To the Arab world and to the Palestinians, he can say, he did it alone, without any official governmental representation as a sign that east Jerusalem, could be part of their future state in any final-status agreement.

NETANYAHU AHEAD OF TRUMP VISIT: ISRAEL DIDN’T OCCUPY JERUSALEM, WE LIBERATED IT

In Saudi Arabia, Trump spoke with Saudi King Salman about the peace process.

Israel “didn’t occupy Jerusalem fifty years ago, it liberated it,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on the eve of US President Donald Trump’s historic two-day visit to Israel.

“I want to the tell the world in a loud and clear voice: Jerusalem has always been and always will be the capital of Israel,” Netanyahu said at a celebratory event marking the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Israel’s capital city after the Six Day War.

“The Temple Mount and the Western Wall will always remain under Israeli sovereignty,” the prime minister added.

Netanyahu’s words were seen as a direct message to Trump, following Israel’s disappointment that the president appears to have no plans to announce the relocation of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem during his two-day trip.

Pence Faces Mixed Reactions from Notre Dame Students
Penced faced wide-range of reactions at Notre Dame's Commencement Ceremony Sunday. What were students reacting to? Vice President Mike Pence taking the stage as guest speaker.
Rather than politely hearing out the former Indiana Governor, students upset with Pence's conservative stances chose to demonstrate via a rather rude statement.

"By standing together in solidarity and walking out, we hope to take back some of the celebration for ourselves," said Brian Rickets, a graduate and of the college's student body President Emeritus.

However, others said that Vice President Pence still deserves respect for his upstanding character, despite political disagreements.
"Even those who disagree with Mike Pence recognize him as a man of principle. I do as well," Notre Dame's administrator told Fox News.
Pence Quotes Scripture in his Address to Grove City College Graduates
"The Bible says, 'to whom much is given, much will be required.' I believe that you leave here today with one particular responsibility. That's what I came here to tell you," Vice President Mike Pence told the graduates of Grove City College, class of 2017, earlier today.
"You leave here with a responsibility to lead. All of you, without exception, are called to be leader, no matter where you go from here."

The Vice President, an unashamed Christian, encouraged the graduates to lead with character and courage.
"Your education these past four years has prepare you to lead. You hold within you all you need to leave this place and succeed. All you need to add to it is courage," Pence said.
He captured the brave stance he's taken for morality and virtue he's embodied in his new role as a national leader.
"You must inspire those around you by being salt and light in every walk of life," he said, referencing Matthew 5:13-14.
"You must aspire to be men and women of character."
Pence also encouraged the graduates to embrace humility, as Christ did.
"Servant leadership, not selfish ambition, must be the animating force of the career that lies before you. For it's written, 'whoever must be first of all must be servant of all.'"
Quoting C.S. Lewis, he said, "Courage was not one of the virtues, it was actually a form of all the virtues."

Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog - President arrives in Saudi Arabia to meet with Arab & Muslim leaders. Here’s the latest, including his itinerary.

Saudi-Trump-redcarpet New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

President arrives in Saudi Arabia to meet with Arab & Muslim leaders. Here’s the latest, including his itinerary.

by joelcrosenberg
(Washington, D.C.) -- No one would have predicted that the candidate who called for a "Muslim ban" would, upon becoming President of the United States, make Saudi Arabia the first stop on his first international trip. Or that he would turn the trip into an opportunity to meet with dozens of Arab and Muslim leaders from all over the world.
That said, the President is absolutely right to work hard on building American relationships and alliances throughout the Muslim world. He's also right to deliver a major address on the threat posed by radical Islamism and the need for all Muslims to strongly oppose and counter the radicals.
To his credit, he will then travel to Israel -- and specifically to Jerusalem -- to strengthen U.S.-Israeli ties, and explore ways of making peace between Israel and the Palestinians. Then he heads to Rome to meet with the Pope, and onward to meet with NATO leaders.
No other President has specifically designed a foreign trip -- especially his first -- to reach out to Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders. In the days ahead, I hope to provide analysis of his trip, his meetings and his speeches. For now, let's be praying for the President's safety and for the trip to have a positive impact.
Here's what we know so far.
ITINERARY:
  • Friday: President departed Washington
  • Saturday: Arrive in Saudi Arabia, meet with the King, dinner with royal family
  • Sunday: President to meet with leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates; meet with Islamic leaders from all over the world, including the leaders of Egypt, Jordan and Indonesia; and deliver major address on threats to the region from radical Islamists
  • Monday: President arrives in Israel, meets with President Reuven Rivlin, meets with Prime Minister Netanyahu, visits the Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, has dinner with the Netanyahus
  • Tuesday: President meets with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, lays a wreath at Israel's Holocaust memorial museum, and delivers a major address at the Israel Museum
  • Wednesday: President meets with Pope Francis in Rome, then flies to Brussels
  • Thursday: President participates in NATO Summit.
  • Friday: President is in Sicily, Italy, participating in G7 Summit
  • Saturday: G7 Summit, then return to Washington

Trump's Promises to Israel Foretold in the Bible? - CBN News Tzippe Barrow

Trump's Promises to Israel Foretold in the Bible?

JERUSALEM, Israel – Donald and Melania Trump's first stop on their premier international tour benefitted royalty. That's how it was planned and that's how it's being orchestrated.
Saudi Arabia 'put on the dog' for the president and his contingency, welcoming them with as much flare as the monarchy could muster up. They wanted the world to see how seriously they take their newfound friendship with President Trump and his efforts to spread goodwill among the world's three great monotheistic religions.

Americans are thrilled with the respect shown its president. And they believe it will produce a joint effort to fight the message of radical Islamic extremism.

Amid all the finery and lavish display, the Saudis pressed their point at a joint press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, who touted Trump's "new approach and determination" to end the Israeli-Arab conflict.

"He certainly has the vision and we believe the strength and the decisiveness, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands prepared to work with the United States in order to bring about peace between Israelis and Palestinians – and Israelis and Arabs," the prince said, Arutz7 reported.

Fifteen years ago, the Saudi monarchy came up with a workable plan, one that all nations could agree on, except Israel.

In 2002, it announced a peace plan, backed by the Arab League, to resolve the conflict. They presented it as the best possible way to bring peace – not just in Israel – but in all of the Middle East.

The plan calls for Israel to roll back to the pre-1967 armistice lines, divide its capital and accept the "right of return" of as many as 6.5 million descendants of Arabs who left the country in 1948 and 1967 and have been kept in refugee status for future use against the Jewish state.

And in exchange for that, many Arab League member nations will accept Israel's right to exist – and maybe even sign a peace treaty with it, the way Egypt and Jordan did. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah II are both lined up with the Saudi initiative.

Here's the short version according to God's plan. Sooner or later, all the nations of the world are going to unite against Israel.

In 1948, none of Israel's Arab neighbors accepted the U.N. partition. Instead, they attacked the nascent Jewish state, confident they would be victorious. They weren't.
Nearly 70 years later, they're professing, in the name of peace, to accept the original partition, dubbed "Auschwitz borders" because they're indefensible.
As the nation prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War, when it defeated another multi-pronged attack by neighboring Arab countries, the nations of the world are calling on it to cede Judea and Samaria and re-divide Jerusalem, not a winning proposition from Israel's point of view.

It's not a little ironic that the man who campaigned on a pro-Israel platform may turn out to be God's chosen vessel to bring the Jewish state to the point that He steps in to defend her.

Peace, peace when there is no peace? Un-walled villages? Is it all coming to pass before our eyes?

Time will certainly tell.

What the Bull and the Days of Noah Mean for This Generation - RON ALLEN CHARISMA NEWS

What the Bull and the Days of Noah Mean for This Generation

RON ALLEN  CHARISMA NEWS
This week the sun will enter the constellation Taurus (The Bull) on May 18.
Taurus is the ninth chapter of the Star Bible and is the sign of the Second Coming of Christ. Taurus is a picture of a bull, an ancient symbol of strength. Its bright Star Aldeberan (The Governor) reminds us that Christ will indeed return in strength to rule, with the bright star cluster the Hyades (The Congregated) representing the armies of Heaven returning with Him. The bright constellation Orion (Coming Forth as Light) pictures Christ the warrior preparing to crush the Serpent pictured beneath His feet, and releasing the constellation Eridanus (The River of Fire) upon His enemies. The third constellation, Auriga (The Shepherd), shows Christ's care for His people, as a shepherd protecting them in the time of judgment.
Taurus contains a historical inflection point on its border with the tenth chapter of the Star Bible, Gemini (which represents Christ's reign on Earth). This area of the sky contains the outermost point of our galaxy, where astronomical research shows that the Sun was located on the first day of Noah's Flood. As such, this point represents God's judgment poured out on an evil world and is a reminder that Christ's Return will come as in the days of Noah (Matt 24, 37-39). In fact, the movement of the Summer Solstice into this point in Taurus, scheduled to occur in the year 2121, is one of the main signs of Christ's return in the sun, moon and stars. We cannot know the day or the hour (Matt. 24:36), but we are told there will be signs (Luke 21:25).
As God provided protection for Noah and his family in the Ark, so God will provide for His people on the Day of Judgment (2 Pet. 2:9). The Ark of protection for God's people is the church, and the sun was also at the outermost point of the galaxy on the Feast of Pentecost in 30 AD when the Church was born. This protection is also the message of the constellation Auriga (The Shepherd)
Early this evening in the Northwest, almost touching the horizon, you can find the constellation Auriga (The Shepherd) reminding us of the grace and protection available in the midst of judgment.
Tonight, enjoy the view and tell someone that there is still time to end up safe in the Ark like Noah.
