‘I Can Only Imagine’ film -- It’s time for anti-Christian bigots to stop mocking and start listening

The independent Christian movie “I Can Only Imagine” performed far better than anyone could have imagined at the box office last weekend, bringing in $17.1 million when it was only expected to sell between $2 million and $4 million in tickets.

Why? Because people of faith in this country are speaking loudly. The elitists on the left who continue to ridicule Christianity while they preach at us to coexist need to stop talking and start listening.

While it cost only $7 million to make, “I Can Only Imagine” finished opening weekend at the No. 3 spot in the box office.

“I don’t think the industry predicted this,” said Jon Erwin, co-director of the movie. “They really dismissed the film prior to opening weekend – almost called it a failure before we even got a chance to open it. The opening weekend success of ‘I Can Only Imagine’ illustrates just how large the Christian audience is, and the movie industry should pay attention.”

We continue to see this growing hatred for Christians in spite of the fact that they make up the majority of our society. We’ve just seen two more recent examples of this.

First, comedian Jim Carrey tweeted his distorted painting apparently portraying White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders with the message: “This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous!”

Then HBO comedian John Oliver stooped low, using Vice President Mike Pence’s daughter and her apolitical children’s book about the family's pet bunny to target the vice president.

Charlotte Pence wrote “Marlon Bundo’s A Day in the Life of the Vice President,” an educational children’s story about the role of the vice president, told from the point-of-view of her family’s bunny, Marlon Bundo. Oliver released a parody book about the family’s bunny in which he took aim at the vice president because he disagrees with his views on gay marriage.

Once upon a time kids of politicians were off limits. Now the anti-Christian crowd has gone so far off the rails they justify using kids as well as their pets as a bullying platform to spew their personal hatred for Christianity. Apparently, anything is fair game if you’re attacking a person of faith.

Oliver’s fans also took to Amazon to troll Charlotte Pence’s book, attack the vice president and praise John Oliver.

These two are just the latest in a growing pattern of incidents where Christians have been singled out and mocked and ridiculed. They follow “The View” co-host Joy Behar’s comments that Christians who hear from God have a mental illness. The backlash was so fierce that Behar has since been forced to apologize.

Also in recent weeks, former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee was forced to resign from the Country Music Association Board amid backlash for his conservative and religious beliefs.

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle ridiculed Larry Kudlow’s faith last week when he said, on leaving CNBC to accept President Trump’s offer to become director of National Economic Council: “However things work out, it will be God’s will.” Ruhle later apologized for being dismissive.

Christians are growing tired of this increasing trend that makes their faith the punchline of jokes and the target of public taunting by the far left, who view themselves as morally superior simply because they have a microphone.

“I Can Only Imagine” is a hopeful, uplifting story of love and redemption. What makes it so powerful is that it’s a true story.

Bart Millard had the deck stacked against him. His mom left when he was young and he was forced to live with his abusive father. But after his dad was diagnosed with cancer, Millard witnessed firsthand how the once abusive father is transformed into a believer in Jesus Christ.

Inspired by the miracle God worked on his dad, Bart Millard went on to write the song “I Can Only Imagine,” which became the bestselling Christian single of all time and launched his group Mercy Me.

The story is evidence of grace that sustains us and gives us every reason to have hope for a future, no matter how bad our circumstances.

As Christians, we can only imagine a time when anti-Christian bigots can finally understand that while they may be louder, we make up a not-so-silent, large portion of society in this country. We buy movie tickets, concert tickets, watch TV and vote.

If you observe the hatred you hear directed at Christians, in just about every instance it’s been responded to by taking the high road with dignity and class. That’s because as Christians we don’t look to Hollywood, or its high-profile counterparts for validation. They are not our hope for the future. If they truly want to coexist, they need to start listening and stop ridiculing.

I can only imagine what would happen if those who hate Christians could trade their hate for the hope this movie inspires, instead of continuing to perpetuate a hostile culture that assaults people of faith in this country. If they would start listening and stop mocking, then we could all start coexisting.

I can only imagine.

Israel Reveals Historic Nuclear Strike: When Israel Is Left Alone, It Will Act

JERUSALEM, Israel – More than a decade after Israeli pilots destroyed a Korean-built nuclear reactor in Syria, Israel declassified top secret documents Wednesday detailing the operation.
After failing to convince former US President George Bush and his administration of the danger posed by the Syrian nuclear plant, Israel decided to act on its own.
Shortly before midnight on September 5, 2007, the Israel Air Force deployed eight jet fighters to take out the reactor.
The mission was successful, the facility destroyed and the pilots returned safely to their base.
IDF Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot shares his perspective on the 2007 bombing that destroyed Syria's nuclear reactor before it came online. Eisenkot was GOC of the Northern Command at the time, responsible for Israel's northern border with Syria and Lebanon.
Dr. Ronen Bergman, author of "Rise and Kill First: The Secret History of Israel's Targeted Assassinations," told journalists in a conference call organized by The Israel Project that despite their close relationship, Mossad chief Meir Dagan was unable to convince his US counterpart, CIA chief Michael Hayden, to strike the nuclear facility.
Dagan was convinced that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad would not retaliate – as long as he wasn't publicly humiliated. The CIA argued he would call for all-out war.
Dagan's assessment proved right and the CIA's wrong.
Bergman explained that Israeli Intelligence officials convinced then-Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni that if Israel did not take responsibility for the strike or publicize it – a move that would have humiliated Assad before his Middle Eastern counterparts and forced him to react, he would not. That proved to be true.
Asked why Israel finally decided to lift the gag order on the operation, Bergman cited two main reasons.
First because most of the details were already known outside of Israel there was no longer any need to keep it secret.
Second declassifying the information would send an important message: "That when Israel is left alone, it reacts, and with extreme force."
Bergman agrees there are similarities between what happened then and Iran's attempts today to embed its forces in Syria.
In 2007, Israel asked the US to fulfill its commitment to Israel's security by striking the reactor. Today, Israel is asking the US to exercise its leverage on Russia to convince Iran to back off in Syria. Israel sees an Iranian presence in Syria as its main strategic threat today.
According to Bergman, Israeli officials are "extremely frustrated" by the Trump administration's lack of engagement. He says for all intents and purposes, "the US has evacuated the Middle East."
But the bottom line, Bergman stressed, is that Israel will always do what it has to do.
"The message is that when Israel is left alone, it would react and as it reacted and used force 11 years ago and destroyed the North Korean facility in Syria, it would do so again today and destroy any Iranian attempt to further deploy military forces, guerilla forces [and] Hezbollah forces in Syria."

True and Perfect Justice

The Prophet Zecharya (Zechariah) proclaimed that in order for the kingdoms of Yehuda(Judah) and Yisrael (Israel) to receive Divine blessings, they had to perform emet umishpat shalom (אמת ומשפט שלום).  While this phrase is translated here as,“true and perfect justice,” the words literally mean “truth” and “judgement of peace.” When two people claim to represent truth, how does peace emerge? The Sages state that from Zecharya we learn the importance of compromise, as truth, justice, and peace are the three pillars upon which the world depends. Only through compromise, peace and justice will the nations of the world encourage one another to ascend to Yerushalayim and receive the blessings of Hashem.

God Spoke 4 Words That Stopped This Mom In Her Tracks—And Saved Her Daughter's Life

When musician Kimberly Henderson found out she was pregnant back in 2013, she felt like she didn't know which way to turn. She was young, her boyfriend was cheating on her and she felt utterly overwhelmed at the thought of having to look after a child. So, she did what millions of Americans have chosen to do—she decided to have an abortion. But that wasn't the end of Henderson's story.
The singer became famous for a video she posted of herself singing to her daughter, Vaida. Within just one week, it garnered a staggering 20 million views on YouTube.
Kimberly eventually released her debut single, "Tiny Hearts." She told TV host Steve Harvey that the song is about "her children, single moms and the journey of motherhood."

Trump Admin Warns Palestinian Leadership It's Skating on Thin Ice - Israel Today

Trump Admin Warns Palestinian Leadership It's Skating on Thin Ice

Thursday, March 22, 2018 |  Israel Today Staff
Washington's patience for the Palestinian Authority leadership is nearly spent.
Ever since President Donald Trump came to the White House, US-Palestinian relations have been tense, to say the least.
Trump's overt affinity for Israel, and his unwillingness to tolerate the outrageous claims and demands of Palestinian leaders is, according to most Israelis, a breath of fresh air.
Of course, the Palestinian Authority sees the situation quite differently. President Mahmoud Abbas has become so upset by the Trump Administration that he's taken to spouting personal insults against American diplomats.
Speaking to Palestinian officials in Ramallah this week, Abbas referred to US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman as a "son of a dog" for his personal views on the legitimacy of the Israeli settlement enterprise in the biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria.
A day later, White House and US State Department officials warned Abbas to curb his hostile rhetoric.
"President Abbas’s comments were outrageous and unhelpful," said State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert. "We urge the Palestinian Authority to focus its efforts on improving the lives of the Palestinian people and advancing the cause of peace. The administration remains fully committed to those goals."
Trump's Middle East envoy, Jason Greenblatt, also chimed in, writing on Twitter that "the time has come for President Abbas to choose between hateful rhetoric and concrete and practical efforts to improve the quality of life of his people and lead them to peace and prosperity."
The US Congress is set to vote in the coming days on a bill that includes significant cuts to American foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority, which Trump has indicated must be earned by good behavior and a willingness to make peace with Israel.
