Let’s be clear: Vladimir Putin will be happy to welcome Saudi Arabia into Moscow’s orbit if the U.S. cuts Riyadh loose. (Here are four must-read articles on the importance of maintaining our alliance with the Saudis, including the statement by President Trump.) by joelcrosenberg (Denver, Colorado) -- Whither the U.S.-Saudi alliance? A ferocious debate over this question is raging in Washington at this very moment, and the stakes are high.  On on side of the debate are many in the media, along with numerous former advisors to President Barack Obama. They have never liked how close Washington has been with Riyadh and they are freshly determined to smash the Saudis in the mouth because of the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, the Saudi journalist. Most of these voices had no problem with President Obama cutting a nuclear deal with Iran -- one of America's most dangerous enemies and certainly the worst terrorist state on the planet. Despite Iran's history of murdering thousands of their own people and others throughout the Middle East (now especially in Syria and Yemen), these voices saw no problem with providing the ayatollahs with $150 billion in cash, removing economic sanctions from Iran, or legitimizing Tehran's previously illegal enrichment of uranium. They never once during the process seriously tried to require Iran to stop funding terrorism, building longer range missiles, or sowing seeds of revolution and destruction throughout the Middle East. But the Saudis, oh the Saudis, these folks claim, these are the blood-thirsty despots who really need to be punished. What's more, a growing number of Republicans on Capitol Hill are also ready to impose severe punishments on the entire Saudi government over the Khashoggi affair. Some are calling into question the nature of the alliance itself. On the other side of the debate are those who fully agree that the Khashoggi murder was despicable and must be punished, but are calling for cooler heads to prevail when it comes to upending American policy in the Gulf region. They make the case that we need the Saudis to help us counter Iran and Russia in the Middle East, to help us fight the Radicals like al Qaeda, ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood, to keep oil flowing, and hopefully to advance Arab-Israeli peace. They make the case that the 33 year-old Saudi Crown Prince is making bold, serious, and important reforms at home, and wants to work more closely with the U.S. and the West. Yes, he has made mistakes, even serious ones. But he should be helped, coached, encouraged, not cut loose. What's more, these voices caution that punishing the entire Saudi government -- rather than targeting the operatives responsible for the crime -- would be a serious mistake, one that could rupture the alliance. Some worry that if Washington hits the Saudis too hard, this could drive Riyadh into the waiting (eager) arms of Vladimir Putin and the Russians. Putin is headed to the G20 summit in Argentina and plans to meet with the Saudi delegation. He would absolutely love to flip Riyadh from the American camp into the Russian orbit. I don't believe Saudi King Salman or Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) are inclined at the moment to switch sides to the Kremlin. But I fully expect Putin to make a very tempting offer. And who knows where the king and his son might wind up if most of Washington loses focus on U.S. national security interests in the region, in addition to our enormously important human rights concerns. At the moment, the anti-MBS/anti-Saudi faction is the loudest. Their articles, interviews and speeches are everywhere. It's tougher for the average reader or viewer to find articles and statements by those who want to punish those responsible for the murder of Khashoggi but who also want to maintain or even strengthen the U.S.-Saudi alliance. Here are a few worth reading, including the statement by President Trump just before Thanksgiving. I found particularly insightful the columns by Elliott Abrams and William McGurn. Both urge President Trump to send a retired senior American statesman who is liked and trusted by the Saudis -- perhaps former Secretary of State James Baker, or former V.P. Dick Cheney -- to meet with MBS in Riyadh. They recommend such a statesman quietly recommend big, specific, immediate reforms MBS should make that would signal to the world just how serious he is about taking the kingdom in a different, better, more positive direction. Interestingly, both cite the example of former President Nixon discreetly and very effectively communicating with the Chinese leadership in Beijing after the Tiananmen Square, warning them -- as a long-time trusted friend -- that the massacre was a huge deal and they simply could not proceed with their "business as usual" approach. First, Nixon personally traveled to Beijing to have off-the-record talks with the most senior leaders. Second, Nixon sent a follow up letter that was respectful, frank and specific -- a letter that was kept secret for decades. Abrams and McGurn argue Nixon's approach worked, helping both President George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton reengage with China on more positive terms for both countries, while not ignoring the atrocities that had been committed. I commend both articles to your attention. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo: "The U.S.-Saudi partnership is vital -- We don’t condone Jamal Khashoggi’s murder. But the kingdom is a powerful force for Mideast stability." (op-ed in today's Wall Street Journal) Elliott Abrams: "More Realpolitik, Please -- Trump is right: We should not break with Saudi Arabia. But we should demand a higher price for our support."(column published by National Review Online) William McGurn: "Nixon, Now More Than Ever -- Trump could use an elder statesman to tell the Saudis what they need to hear." (op-ed in yesterday's Wall Street Journal) Statement from President Donald J. Dr. James Dobson: 3 Ways Christians Must Respond to America's Spiritual War Dr. James Dobson (Facebook/Dr. James Dobson's Family Talk) It's easy to recognize the intense spiritual war going on in the U.S. right now. It shows up in our politics, our media, our classrooms and even our families. And as believers, we can't afford to ignore it. In Charisma's November cover story, titled "The Spiritual Struggle for the Soul of America," I write about this war and how believers must respond if we want to see our nation choose a righteous path again. I believe the insights I share in that article will bless you, but since the article is so long and in-depth, I split it into three parts. In my last two Strang Reports (Part 1and Part 2 of the article), I wrote about John Kilpatrick's prophetic word about Jezebel warring against Trump and Chuck Pierce's prophetic exhortation to align with God's will for this nation. Today I want to share with you the final part of my print article, in which I share Dr. James Dobson's take on our culture's spiritual war. Dr. Dobson, founder of Family Talk Radio, is widely respected, so I was grateful to interview him for my latest book, Trump Aftershock. He says the solution to the culture war is spiritual. "Most of the contentious issues that divide us are rooted in Scripture and theology," Dobson says. "Those of us on the conservative side aren't dealing with mere differences of opinion. We are trying to live by standards that are eternal and 'God-breathed.' Those principles are not negotiable. We must, however, defend them within the context of love for our fellow human beings. Mike and Diane Bickle Drop Bombshell News About International House of Prayer

The International House of Prayer made a surprise announcement late yesterday, posting a new video titled, "Why This Is the Last Onething Conference." In the video, Mike and Diane Bickle say the Lord has stirred them up for a new season of reflection, fellowship and slowing down, and that means doing less with the ministry so that they can prepare for the next "move of the Spirit."

Mike says, "We feel like there's a mighty move of the Spirit right around the corner, and this mighty move of the Spirit is going to require that we're in connection in a deeper way with his heart and with one another. We've got to do it with a sense of we're in this thing together. So in the last months, the Lord has really spoken this to us: 'Slow the pace down of what you're doing. Do less, so you can take more time to go deep with God and deep with each other.' Because you can't go deep on the run."

In a YouTube comment, the International House of Prayer clarified, "This will be the last Onething for some time in Kansas City. We do not actually host or manage the other Onething conferences. Sometimes our teams or leaders are invited to be a part of those, but they are generally hosted by other houses of prayer. IHOPKC only exists in Kansas City; we don't have other prayer rooms outside of KC."

"My Writers will Change and Shape History and Bring Worldwide Shifts"

I have been feeling the intention of the Lord's heart for writers this week. Whether it's through books, songs, plays, movies, poetry, teachings etc., there is an encouragement on the heart of God for you right now. Press in for there is an increase, a shift and transition, taking place for writers in this new era.

As I leaned in and asked the Lord what was on His heart for the writers, I had a vision and I saw the word "TRANSITION" in large letters over them. I watched as some were writing, and it felt like they were writing against a "hard surface." Others were feeling "battle" as they wrote, and others were feeling an "unsettledness" and lack of clarity, while still others were writing with power and flow; they were feeling their writing was taking a different form, shape and direction to what they expected.

Breaking New Ground

"He is looking for His writers to be laid down, yielded, deep in the Word, and seeking His heart..."

As I watched all this take place I heard the Lord say: "Writers, take heart. You are breaking new ground in your writing." Then I heard Him speak a loud decree: "DEEPER REVELATION than you have ever received! GREATER HEAVENLY STRATEGY than you have ever seen."

Writers, there is a significant breaker anointing that is falling upon you as you write. As you yield to Jesus, as you lean in to hear what the Spirit is saying, the revelation He is releasing is breaking new ground in your writing. This is an extremely significant transition that is taking place right now, and I feel the Lord's heart of encouragement, "Steward it well." Don't try and write what you think is expected. Don't try and write what you think is "popular." There are many things the Lord is writing through the writers right now; things that are going to see a greater increase of the volume of His voice of truth, purity and justice.

I watched as the winds of the Spirit began to blow fiercely around the writers. It was like a gale-force wind—so strong. The Lord decreed: "The pioneering writers are arising! The pioneering writers are ARISING."

"It's Bigger Than They Think"

In my vision, I then our beautiful Jesus inviting the writers deeper into a place of revelation of His heart and His Word. His invitation led them into a room that they had never entered into before. As I looked around this room, the walls were dripping in honey and oil. I could hear the decree in the heavenlies:

"The pioneering writers are arising, carrying My oil and the honey of My healing, the sweet honey of My presence. The oil and honey are costly. They are precious and found in the place of surrender, close to My heart. It's the place of no impure agenda but simply the agenda of knowing My heart and hearing what I am saying. The anointing that is increasing upon the writers right now is such a heavy breaker anointing. It will bring MAJOR breakthrough, shift and change in the lives of individuals, cities and nations. It's bigger than they think.

"Many of My writers have been through the fire. Many of My writers have been through serious opposition. Many of My writers have been brought to the threshing floor and now they shall carry such deep secrets of My heart. The pioneering writers are arising now, their books are being birthed, their songs are being birthed. My messages through them are being birthed on the earth to release secrets and revelations of My heart deeply contained within My Word.

"They are carving new pathways in the earth to release My purposes like never before. I am releasing revelatory secrets of My heart right now that have not been released before in the earth. They are deeply rooted and anchored in My Word, but now is the time for the pioneering writers to arise, releasing deep revelatory secrets of My heart not known or seen before.

"My pioneering writers: your hearts are branded as you yield to Me. Mandate Upon the Writers to Bring Healing to the Nations

In this vision I kept seeing HUGE leaves covering the manuscripts, songs, poems, teachings, etc., of the writers and I heard Revelation 22:2 booming all around: "The leaves of the tree are for the HEALING OF THE NATIONS" (emphasis mine). The Lord spoke again: "My writings through My writers upon the earth right now – those who are penning My heart and from the pure flow of My Spirit – and those writings to come, have an increase of the nations' mandates and anointing upon them to bring healing to the nations."

Suddenly I saw manuscripts, songs, poems, teachings, etc., landing on desks, on presidents, on people of influence, and infiltrating the seven mountains with acceleration in such significant increase that it was leading many into deep encounters with Jesus—releasing the wisdom of Heaven into the hands of those who can bring major change. I saw the winds of the Spirit carrying these writings into media circles. I watched supernatural change, leaving people astonished, changing their words from, "That could never happen" to "LOOK WHAT HE DID!" God is going to get His written words into the hands of the people who need to read them and who will bring major change and shifts in culture.

"Writers, take heart. You are breaking new ground in your writing."

There was such a rest upon these writings. There were tangible impartations of His heart and revelation contained within these writings that were going to bring significant life changes to the hands He got the writings into, causing healing to flow to and through them, bringing healing to nations. The rest that I saw was also decreeing that God would get the writings where He needs them to go, and for the writers to be at peace and rest, not try and "make something happen" knowing that in obedience to what He asks and where He's leading He will get the manuscripts and writings into the most unbelievable places.

There is GREAT FAVOR that is going to fall upon these writings as the Lord gets His messages out. There will be an increase of testimonies in this new era from the writers. They will say, "I simply did what He asked, I wrote what He said, and LOOK what He has done and where He has taken His writings as I placed it all in His hands."

There has been much "writing over nations" that has not been the Lord's heart, nor His plans and purposes; but that is going to radically change in this new era as His writings go forth to shape and change history, activating His decrees over the nations.

A Key to Bringing in the Harvest

The Lord spoke again: "My writings will be KEY to bringing in the harvest! My writings will speak!"

I saw a heavy anointing over His writings in this new era for evangelism. MANY are going to come to know Jesus and there is going to be a MAJOR increase of salvations as people encounter Jesus through reading the writings of His heart. I kept seeing fish jumping into a boat. The boat was covered in His Words, the revelation of His Word, and the writing of His heart that is being released in this new era through many writers.

Writers—what He is releasing and what He is going to do through you and your written words—is going to blow your mind. What He is having you write now, what you have written, and the new writing assignments that are upon you are WEIGHTY! He is looking for His writers to be laid down, yielded, deep in the Word, and seeking His heart. He desires for them to write His truth when it's not popular, to write messages of His heart in places where it hasn't been heard or released before, and to write messages that are unique to your anointing and to not try to write how someone else does. There is an increase of anointing and power that will flow through the writers as the deeper yielding continues to write only what He is saying and releasing. He is going to do more through His writings, through you, than you can imagine.

There is going to be major increases of influence and impact on His writings. He will have an increase of "BEST SELLERS" on the shelves of the world. They will change, impact and influence secular society and bring people to the goodness, revelation, love and knowledge of Jesus Christ. (Photo via Unsplash)

Some of you have had the greatest battles of your lives over your ability to write, but that is because of the INCREASE of the breaker anointing upon the written words and the FAVOR that He is releasing and going to release. Steward it well. Steward His heart well. Steward the platform where He will give His writings through you well. Steward it with purity, giving Him glory for He has accomplished it. It's by Him and through Him. It's ALL FOR Him.
