SHALOM! Anti-Semitism is increasing around the world, just as we are told to expect in the Scriptures. As this age draws to a close, we are told that the nations will turn against Israel, and that Jerusalem will become a stumbling block to the peoples. Instead of being afraid or hostile towards those who rage against Israel, it's important for us to know how to explain the truth about God's heart and plans for his people and his land. Grafted In If anyone has been converted from one thing to another, it is Gentiles who have been converted to the Jewish faith in the God of Israel. They have adopted the Jewish holy Scriptures, the Jewish understanding of God and his ways, and have been accepted and saved by the Jewish Messiah. It is Gentiles who have left paganism with false ideas of God (or gods) into the truth about the One Living God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who made heaven and earth, as revealed in the Jewish Scriptures. The book of Romans likens this Gentile “conversion” to the agricultural grafting process: “And you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree… remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.” (11:17-18) It makes no sense to talk of a Jewish person being converted. It has been their faith all along, if you believe that Yeshua is the Messiah spoken of in the Hebrew Scriptures.The faith is rooted in Judaism. When a Jewish person accepts Yeshua they have a fuller understanding of their own faith, not somebody else’s. And that is what we in ONE FOR ISRAEL are seeking to see. Continue reading... More Than 80,000 Earthquakes Have Hit California Since July 4th, And The Aftershocks Are Headed “Toward The Garlock Fault”

The recent seismic activity in the state of California has taken a strange turn.  According to the Los Angeles Times, there have been more than 80,000 earthquakes in the state since July 4th, and most of those quakes were aftershocks of the two very large events that hit the Ridgecrest area early in the month.  Over the past couple of weeks, however, a very unusual pattern has begun to emerge.  We have started to see aftershocks creep toward two of the largest fault lines in southern California, and this is making seismologists very nervous.  The fact that we are seeing aftershocks “approaching the Owens Valley fault” is definitely alarming, but of far more concern is the fact that the Ridgecrest aftershocks are also headed “toward the Garlock fault”.  

The following comes from a local California news source…

According to a Los Angeles Times article , aftershocks of the magnitude 7.1 earthquake near Ridgecrest have been creeping into areas close to two major earthquake faults which is concerning for some seismologists on whether it could trigger another huge temblor.

“Some aftershocks have rumbled northwest of the Searles Valley earthquake, approaching the Owens Valley fault. That fault triggered an earthquake of perhaps magnitude 7.8 or 7.9 in 1872, one of the largest in California’s modern record,” the article explains. “The Ridgecrest aftershocks have also headed southeast toward the Garlock fault, a lesser-known fault capable of producing an earthquake of magnitude 8 or more. The fault along the northern edge of the Mojave Desert can send shaking south and west into Bakersfield and Ventura and Los Angeles counties.”

In the end, this could turn out to be nothing, but there are a couple of reasons why we want to keep a very close eye on the Garlock fault.

First of all, the Garlock fault is the second largest fault line in the entire state of California, and it is a major threat to southern California.

Secondly, the Garlock fault runs directly into the San Andreas fault, and many believe that a major quake along one could potentially trigger a major quake along the other.

If you are not familiar with the Garlock fault, the following is some basic information from Wikipedia…

The Garlock Fault marks the northern boundary of the area known as the Mojave Block, as well as the southern ends of the Sierra Nevada and the valleys of the westernmost Basin and Range province. Stretching for 250 kilometers (160 mi), it is the second-longest fault in California and one of the most prominent geological features in the southern part of the state.

The Garlock Fault runs from a junction with the San Andreas Faultin the Antelope Valley, eastward to a junction with the Death Valley Fault Zone in the eastern Mojave Desert. It is named after the historic mining town of Garlock, founded in 1894 by Eugene Garlock and now a ghost town.

So exactly what would a major quake along the Garlock fault look like?

Here is how the Los Angeles Times described what a “worst-case scenario” would look like…

A worst-case scenario would be a magnitude 7.7 earthquake that begins on the eastern end of the Garlock fault in eastern San Bernardino County and unlocks the fault to the southwest, bringing severe shaking to towns such as California City and Tehachapi; Edwards Air Force Base and Lancaster would see very strong shaking. Even Santa Clarita and the San Fernando Valley would see strong shaking, with much of the L.A. Basin and the San Gabriel Valley seeing moderate shaking — worse than what L.A. encountered last week.

No, that is definitely not a “worst-case scenario” for the Garlock fault, but without a doubt a major quake along the fault would be far more destructive than the earthquakes that we just witnessed on July 4th and 5th.

We were told that those earthquakes “did not cause much damage”, but now we are learning that those quakes actually “caused an estimated $200 million in damage”…

The powerful earthquake that rocked California earlier this month caused an estimated $200 million in damage.

The cost of damage from the magnitude 7.1 earthquake that hit southeastern California on July 5 and foreshocks that came a day earlier was estimated by catastrophe modeling business Karen Clark & Company.

So if relatively minor earthquakes can cause that much economic damage, what would an earthquake 1,000 times more powerful do?

Because someday “the Big One” is going to hit the San Andreas fault, and it is going to release so much energy that the quakes that we witnessed this month won’t even be worth comparing to it.  In fact, if a magnitude 9.1 earthquake were to hit southern California, it would be exactly 1000 times more powerful than the magnitude 7.1 quake that happened back on July 5th.

And even though it isn’t likely, scientists did admit that the large earthquakes that happened earlier this month could trigger a quake on the San Andreas fault…

Scientists knew almost immediately that two large quakes that hit near Ridgecrest earlier this month did not come from the San Andreas. But ever since, they’ve been studying whether the quakes could cause more seismic activity from other faults — including the San Andreas nearly 100 miles away. A new calculation conducted in recent weeks at the U.S. Geological Survey showed that there’s an extremely remote chance the San Andreas could be triggered from the Ridgecrest quakes.

Hopefully, it will not happen any time soon, but seismologists assure us that it is only a matter of time before “the Big One” strikes California.  They have repeatedly warned us that the San Andreas fault is “locked and loaded” and that it has the potential to “unzip all at once”.  And when that day finally arrives, scientists have determined that the ground level could drop by up to 3 feet, and that would result in vast portions of southern California suddenly being covered by the Pacific Ocean.

We live at a time when our planet is becoming increasingly unstable, and we are witnessing major earthquakes and enormous volcanic eruptions all over the globe on a daily basis now.

For a long time, the United States had been spared, but on July 4th and 5th that suddenly changed.

Since that time, there have been more than 80,000 earthquakes in the state of California, and this is just the beginning of the shaking that is coming.

It's a new day, a fresh season. The air here in Colorado is sweet after days of rain. The grass is green, and the crab apple tree in my backyard is filled with fluffy pink blossoms.

After a deep season of sorrow upon losing my precious daughter Laura, I am feeling a new sweetness in my spirit. I'm letting go of grudges and pain, and joy is overtaking my fog of grief.

Can the human spirit really find this kind of refreshing? Yes, but only when we refuel by the power of God.

Imagine if I gave you the keys to a beautiful new car loaded with the latest gadgets—back-up cameras, Bluetooth, anti-collision tech and even a sunroof—though minus a tank of gas.

So, you accept my gift but think, I guess this car isn't meant to be driven, at least not anymore, right? Otherwise, it would start. But never mind that, it's a beautiful car, and I should be grateful. To prove it, the kids and I will come out to the garage from time to time, use the Bluetooth, open the sunroof and play our favorite tunes. And that will have to be enough.

And so, once a week, you religiously go and sit in your beautiful car. But you never go anywhere. Sometimes you dream of using the car as it was originally intended. You imagine driving to work, driving down the coast or maybe even taking a trip to see friends. But you know in your heart that if the manufacturer wanted you to actually drive the car, he would also have filled the tank.

Of course, the real you is too wise to fall for such a whopper. When your car needs fuel, you fill it up. It's a simple as that.

There are some Christians and churches who have never filled their tank with the power of God, His Holy Spirit. And some people and churches have never thought to refill their tank when it runs dry. That's exactly how I found the refreshing in my soul after a winter of pain. I called on God through the power of the Holy Spirit to help me to forgive those who so wronged my child and to heal my emotional pain. And if God, through the Holy Spirit, will do this for me, He will also do this for you.

If you need to refuel with the power of God, pray this simple prayer that South African pastor William Murray taught the young students of the Moody Bible Institute to pray in the late 1800s. Through this prayer, the young people were empowered to change their world for Christ. If you're ready to pray this prayer, simply pray, "More, Holy Spirit, more!"

Pray this often and pray it over your church as well. The power of God you've always dreamed about could be realized in your life and the lives of those you love.

Sing, O Barren!

While on vacation with my family, I laid down in the bed and I heard the Lord say, "I am causing every barren area to begin to produce. Prepare for multiplication."

I then opened my Bible to Psalm 113:9: "He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord."

Many have been living in a place of bareness. It seems as though everywhere you turn you are facing famine. God has heard your cry and He has seen your tears. He is bringing enlargement to you.

"Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord.

"Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; for thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited." (Isaiah 54:1-3)

It is easy to "sing" after you have the baby but it is very difficult to sing when you are barren. Your song is a weapon of deliverance. It is an instrument of miracles. There is power in your praise. (Photo via Pixabay)

Sowing a Seed in the Barren Desert

My wife had a condition that made it very difficult for her to conceive and carry a baby to term. Nevertheless, God had confirmed to us through many prophetic words that we would have babies.

After a few years of going through fertility treatments, miscarriages and disappointments, we finally thought God had answered our prayers. Every Wednesday night we met with a team of intercessors to pray. We could not wait to tell our prayer warriors that we were going to have a baby. We believed we were in the "safe zone" and we announced our big news to them. They were thrilled. We planned a big surprise announcement for the entire church that Sunday, which was Father's Day. We went to bed with our world feeling perfect.

However, around 2:00 AM my wife was in severe pain and, without going into graphic detail, had miscarried the baby. Our hearts were broken. Just like that everything changed. We had gone from giggling and being ecstatic to sobbing and overwhelming sadness. Many of you understand those moments of your world being turned upside down. Some of you may be facing such a moment even as you're reading this.

A minister friend of mine heard about the loss of the baby and graciously called me and volunteered to minister the Father's Day service for me. I was appreciative for his offer but I was determined that I was going to preach the best Father's Day message that I could. I refused to let the devil think that because of this loss that we were giving up on our promise.

My wife's best friend at that time then announced that she was pregnant. We were very happy for her and her husband but could not escape the pain of our loss. Nevertheless, my wife volunteered to throw her a baby shower to celebrate the coming arrival. Trying to protect her because I was keenly aware of her recent devastation, I expressed my concern for her doing so. I will never forget the steadfast look that came on my wife's face as she said, "I am sowing this as a seed for our baby. I will throw her the best baby shower that I possibly can. Andrew, you know the power of a seed!" She planned every last detail of the baby shower as if it was for herself. After all it was her seed and she was believing for a great harvest.

The doctor had said that it would be at least 6 months before there could be a possibility of getting pregnant after the miscarriage—but God! Six weeks later we discovered that she was pregnant with our Giuliana Faith.

This is Your Season to Break Out!

Some of you have promises from God that seem as if they are never coming to pass, but you cannot quit. Don't give up because breakthrough is on the other side of your seed. Your seed of worship breaks the back of bareness.When you sing and cry aloud it releases the "more" that God has promised. The "more" is a place of enlargement. Quit thinking, dreaming and speaking small.

"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us..." (Ephesians 3:20)

When you begin to praise Him in the middle of bareness as if you were already holding the baby, it causes a breakout. "For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited." (Isaiah 54:3)

I hear the Spirit of God declaring to you today, "This is your season to breakout! Refuse to allow yourself to be boxed into the 'small' by the enemy. Believe what I have spoken and watch what I am doing. It has already begun. You will see the manifestation of the promises that I have made to you. Sing! Your song is a weapon that will shift the gear of acceleration."
