Today's Israel Inspiration

Yesterday would have been the the 131st birthday of David Ben-Gurion, the first Prime Minister of the State of Israel. David Ben-Gurion is widely remembered for his reading of the Deceleration of Independence of the State of Israel on May 14, 1948. Ben-Gurion is an icon of modern Israeli history and is remembered as one of the founders of the modern state of Israel. Although Ben-Gurion described himself as an irreligious person, he referenced the Bible extensively in his work and is quoted as saying, "In Israel, in order to be a realist, you must believe in miracles."  Ben-Gurion was born in 1886 as David Grun. It was only in 1912 that he adopted the Hebrew name Ben-Gurion (בן-גוריון) meaning "son of a lion cub" as a sign of his commitment to the revival of the Hebrew language.  The above verse highlights one of the many places in the Bible where the word gurion appears. Ben-Gurion preached the significance of "hebraicizing" surnames and was successful in convincing other signatories of the Israeli Declaration of Independence to adopt Hebrew names with which to sign the document. Many immigrants to Israel continue to follow in Ben-Gurion's footsteps by adopting a more Hebrew or Biblical sounding name upon their arrival to Israel. Discover the Biblical origin of your name and connect to Israel, the Bible and the Hebrew language.

“A Heart Full of Deep Love for the Jewish People”

It’s great to hear from you and make new friends from all over the world. Please send me an email and let me know how you are enjoying Israel365 (don’t forget to say where you are from!).

I am a committed Orthodox Christian person and as such, I can only have a heart full of deep love for the Jewish people and the nation of Beloved Israel. God Almighty told the great patriarch Abraham that He would bless the great man and those who blessed him and He would curse those who cursed Abraham. That promise has never been retracted or abrogated in any way, shape, or form since those glorious words were first declared by God Almighty. It is my most fervent prayer and belief that our God will bless and protect Beloved Israel forevermore. It also my earnest prayer that all those who have any kind of animosity towards Beloved Israel and the Jewish people would find it in their hearts to make lasting, genuine peace with Beloved Israel. It seems that even Ishmael managed to do that because he and his younger brother Isaac were the ones who buried their beloved father Abraham when he died. --James Jones

LoveMusic! - Brokenness Aside by All Sons & Daughters | Lyrics video

All Sons & Daughters
Brokenness Aside

October 18, 2017

Greetings once again to LoveMusic! listeners.

Yesterday I wrote of how I had never even heard of All Sons and Daughters before last week, but obviously, they have been out there for awhile. Not only did they do the song I posted then (Rising Sun - click on the title to hear, or the YouTube video link is also below), but they had three albums/CDs released, going back before 2013! Being Integrity Music was the producer, which I have long supported and appreciated since 1987 with their Hosanna!Music series, I bought their three CDs (with DVDs!) online.

And now I share this one entitled Brokenness Aside, which is found on two of their CDs - both studio and live recording versions.

Listen to their heart and hear their voices too.

Be blessed in your blessing today. First bless the Lord, and then others to Whom He brings in your path.

Ahava and shalom alway,

Steve Martin

Netanyahu: Israel Helps Because We are a Light Unto the Nations - Israel Today

Netanyahu: Israel Helps Because We are a Light Unto the Nations

Tuesday, October 17, 2017 |  Israel Today Staff
During a ceremony welcoming Christian media representatives to Jerusalem, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was asked why Israel goes so far out of its way to provide aid to disaster victims around the world.
From Haiti to Nepal to Japan to Mexico, Israel is almost always the first on the scene following major catastrophe, and more often than not sends one of the largest and best-equipped delegations, despite being so much smaller than many of the other nations responding.
In response to the question, Netanyahu cited the Bible:
Because we're a light unto the nations. That's the great fulfillment of that great prophecy, and in fact what Israel is doing. ...And the people say, well, what do you do? What is it that you get out of it? And the answer is we're not getting out of it anything, we're fulfilling our deepest values – Israel is a light unto the nations.

GOD LOVED ISRAEL
Part 1 of 2

A. THE CONVENANT WITH ABRAHAM

"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you.” (Genesis 12:2)

The covenant with Abraham is of two levels. In some instances, God had resolved on what to do irrespective of Abram shortcomings. In other instances, He expected full obedience as a condition for Him to operate.

I pray that God will grant us power that we may never fail ourselves and fail God, in Jesus’ Name.

"So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed him, and lot went with him. Abraham was 75 years old when left Haran." (Genesis 12:4)

After the flood in Genesis 11, God wanted a new nation out of the entire world, so He graciously chose Abraham and lavished His irrevocable covenant on him. God graciously chose and decided to enter into covenant with Abraham, but God expected implicit obedience from him. After Abraham had had some tough experiences He introduced some signs, added some cultural approaches, including the inevitable exiles.

God came to enlarge His covenant. He introduced an obligation for him, which was circumcision. The Lord must be obeyed. He changed the names of the couple. He expected faith and obedience. Has He changed, as He speaks to us to obey Him?

After what looks like the highest test in Abraham's life, to offer up Isaac his son, the covenant was reinforced and enlarged, making it eternal and irrevocable for him. This was also the beginning of the nation called Israel.

God still enters into covenant with believers of every nation today, as each individual first repents and then receives Yeshua (Jesus) as their Savior.

B. THE CONVENANT CONTINUALLY REVISITED

"No longer will your name be called Abram. Your name will be Abraham." (Genesis 17:5)

God had covenanted to bless Abram and make him a father of nations and kings. All these would be through the spiritually blessed Isaac. Ishmael was naturally blessed but not like the covenant son, Isaac.

Isaac grew and received the covenant from God. Covenant was also transferred to his son Jacob.

God is progressive in His revelations. He enlarged and extended the same to Jacob. He had done nothing to justify God's grace (Jacob did not “earn” the Lord’s grace) but that is how God operates. It is out of His indescribable love.

Jacob blessed his son Joseph and his children as he grew old and was dying, as God would have it. He blessed his children in line with the already declared eternally settled covenant of God.

The nation and people of Israel were conceived, born and supervised yet today through the covenant of God. They would, of course, have done better if they had stood on the principle of obedience.

Brother and sister, prepare your children for God and leave Him with all He might choose to do for them. The best thing is to prepare all our children for God, so that they can be carriers of God's covenant.

May our good God of Israel bless you all.
