Love. Ahava.

Why do we love?
Because He loves us.

Why do we care?
Because He cares for us.

Why do we reach out and touch the lost, the lonely, those without, and those just needing to hear a word of encouragement?

Because that is what our Savior does.

Ahava, the Hebrew word for love. And love is what it is all about.

The Dow Peaked At 14,000 Before The Last Stock Market Crash, And Now Dow 24,000 Is Here - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Posted: 29 Nov 2017 Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

The absurdity that we are witnessing in the financial markets is absolutely breathtaking.  Just recently, a good friend reminded me that the Dow peaked at just above 14,000 before the last stock market crash, and stock prices were definitely over-inflated at that time.  Subsequently the Dow crashed below 7,000 before rebounding, and now thanks to this week’s rally we on the threshold of Dow 24,000.

When you look at a chart of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, you would be tempted to think that we must be in the greatest economic boom in American history, but the truth is that our economy has only grown by an average of just 1.33 percent over the last 10 years.  Every crazy stock market bubble throughout our history has always ended badly, and this one will be no exception.

And even though the Dow showed a nice gain on Wednesday, the Nasdaq got absolutely hammered.  In fact, almost every major tech stock was down big.  The following comes from CNN
Meanwhile, big tech stocks — which have propelled the market higher all year — were tanking. The Nasdaq fell more than 1%, led by big drops in Google (GOOGLTech30) owner Alphabet, Amazon (AMZNTech30), Apple (AAPLTech30), Facebook (FBTech30) and Netflix (NFLXTech30).
Momentum darlings Nvidia (NVDATech30) and PayPal (PYPLTech30) and red hot gaming stocks Electronic Arts (EATech30) and Activision Blizzard (ATVITech30) plunged too. They have been some of the market’s top stocks throughout most of 2017.
Many believe that the markets are about to turn down in a major way.  What goes up must eventually come down, and at this point even Goldman Sachs is warning that a bear market is coming
“It has seldom been the case that equities, bonds and credit have been similarly expensive at the same time, only in the Roaring ’20s and the Golden ’50s,” Goldman Sachs International strategists including Christian Mueller-Glissman wrote in a note this week. “All good things must come to an end” and “there will be a bear market, eventually” they said.
As central banks cut back their quantitative easing, pushing up the premiums investors demand to hold longer-dated bonds, returns are “likely to be lower across assets” over the medium term, the analysts said. A second, less likely, scenario would involve “fast pain.” Stock and bond valuations would both get hit, with the mix depending on whether the trigger involved a negative growth shock, or a growth shock alongside an inflation pick-up.
Nobody believes that this crazy stock market party can go on forever.

These days, the real debate seems to be between those that are convinced that the markets will crash violently and those that believe that a “soft landing” can be achieved.

I would definitely be in favor of a “soft landing”, but those that have followed my work for an extended period of time know that I do not think that this will happen.  And with each passing day, more prominent voices in the financial world are coming to the same conclusion.  Here is one recent example
Vanguard’s chief economist Joe Davis said investors need to be prepared for a significant downturn in the stock market, which is now at a 70 percent chance of crashing.  That chance is significantly higher than it has been over the past 60 years.
The economist added, It’s unreasonable to expect rates of returns, which exceeded our own bullish forecast from 2010, to continue.”
A stock market crash has followed every major stock bubble in our history, and right at this moment we are in the terminal phase of one of the greatest stock market bubbles ever.  There are so many indicators that are screaming that we are in danger, and one of the favorite ones that I like to point to is margin debt.  The following commentary and chart were recently published by Wolf Richter
This chart shows margin debt (red line, left scale) and the S&P 500 (blue line, right scale), both adjusted for inflation to tune out the effects of the dwindling value of the dollar over the decades (chart by Advisor Perspectives):

Stock market leverage is the big accelerator on the way up. Leverage supplies liquidity that has been freshly created by the lender. This isn’t money moving from one asset to another. This is money that is being created to be plowed into stocks. And when stocks sink, leverage becomes the big accelerator on the way down.
Markets tend to go down much faster than they go up, and I have a feeling that when this market crashes it is going to happen very, very rapidly.

The only reason stock prices ever got this high in the first place was due to unprecedented intervention by global central banks.  They created trillions of dollars out of thin air and plowed those funds directly into the financial markets, and of course that was going to inflate asset prices.

But now global central banks are putting on the brakes simultaneously, and this has got to be one of the greatest sell signals that we have ever witnessed in modern financial history.
Even Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen says that she is concerned about causing “a boom-bust condition in the economy”, and yet she insists that the Fed is going to continue to gradually raise rates anyway
Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said the central bank is concerned with growth get out of hand and thus is committed to continuing to raise rates in a gradual manner.
“We don’t want to cause a boom-bust condition in the economy,” Yellen told Congress in her semiannual testimony Wednesday.
While Yellen did not specifically commit to a December rate hike, her comments indicated that her views have not changed with her desire for the central bank to continue normalizing policy after years of historically high accommodation.
I never thought that this stock market bubble would get this large.  We are way, way overdue for a financial correction, but right now we are in a party that never seems to end.

But end it will, and when that happens the pain that will be experienced on Wall Street will be unlike anything that we have ever seen before.

Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog: Israelis mark the 70th anniversary of the historic U.N. “Partition Plan” vote to reestablish the Jewish State.

UN-PartitionPlan-Nov1947

New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

Israelis mark the 70th anniversary of the historic U.N. “Partition Plan” vote to reestablish the Jewish State. Sadly, the conflict is not over. We must still pray for & seek peace, especially as followers of Jesus.

by joelcrosenberg
Seventy years ago -- on November 29th, 1947 -- history was made.
The United Nations General Assembly voted in favor of Resolution 181 (aka, the "Partition Plan") to divide the land of British Mandated Palestine to create a sovereign Israeli Jewish state and a sovereign Palestinian Arab state.
The plan was controversial. It was by no means clear the resolution would pass. Jews and Christians around the world listened by radio to the vote anxiously, prayerfully. And to their astonishment, in the end the resolution passed.
  • Thirty-three states voted in favor, including the United States.
  • Thirteen states voted against.
  • Ten states abstained.
True, Jewish leaders living in Palestine at the time wanted much more land than the U.N. plan offered. But in the end they accepted the plan. After two thousand years in exile from the Biblical land of Israel, the world was finally give Jews legal permission to re-gather and rebuild the ancient ruins.
Six months later -- on May 14th, 1948 -- David Ben Gurion formally declared Israel's independence. Tragically, five Arab states immediately launched a war to destroy the reborn State of Israel.
Seventy years later, the conflict still is not resolved. Millions of Palestinians live in poverty and discouragement. Their leaders have been offered peace treaties multiple times by multiple Israeli leaders, but thus far have not agree.
That said, there has been progress in the region.
  • In November 1977, Egyptian President Anwar el-Sadat stunned Israel and the world by making a historic and completely unexpected visit to Jerusalem to address the Knesset.
  • In September 1978, President Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Began spent thirteen days at Camp David with President Jimmy Carter hammering out the framework of a peace treaty.
  • On March 26, 1979, Sadat and Begin met at the White House and formally signed a comprehensive peace treaty with Israel, ending that conflict and establishing full diplomatic and economic ties.
  • On October 26, 1994, Jordanian King Hussein and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin signed a comprehensive peace treaty between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Israel.
  • In recent years, a growing number of Sunni Arab nations -- including Saudi Arabia -- are quietly building diplomatic, intelligence and security relationships with Israel.
In Psalm 34:14, believers are commanded to "seek peace and pursue it." In Psalm 122:6, believers are commanded to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem." The Lord Jesus told His disciples, "Blessed are the peacemakers." (Matthew 5:9)
As a Jewish person, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, and a follower of Jesus, I am grateful for this anniversary, as I believe it marks in no insignificant way evidence of God keeping His Abrahamic Covenant with the Jewish people. Despite our sin and rebellion, the God of Israel continues to be gracious and merciful to His people. He promised to bring us back to the land, and He is keeping His promise. He giving us a land we don't deserve as He calls us back to Himself and His Word.
At the same time, as I love Israel and want her to be safe and free and prosperous and to know and faithful to the Lord God Almighty, I pray for peace. I seek to be a peacemaker. I seek to love and bless my Palestinian neighbors. How I want to see them flourish, to have safety and freedom and prosperity and to know and be faithful to the Lord God Almighty, as well.
Ultimately, I believe only the Messiah can heal these wounds and bring true and lasting peace and justice in the Middle East. Until then, I pray and work for the Church to be kind, wise and gracious Ambassadors of Christ, loving both sides, praying for both sides, and seeking peace and pursuing it. Amen.

Kathie Lee Gifford Unashamedly Preaches the Gospel as NBC Deals With Disaster - JESSILYN JUSTICE CHARISMA NEWS

Kathie Lee Gifford Unashamedly Preaches the Gospel as NBC Deals With Disaster

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

Kathie Lee Gifford took her audience to church after her colleague Matt Lauer was fired from NBC due to sexual misconduct allegations.
"I don't feel that Matt has betrayed us in any way at all, but when I found out that my husband had betrayed me, you question your own judgment," Gifford said on Wednesday's episode of Kathie Lee and Hoda. "You say, 'Was everything a lie?' And I think we have to fight against that, very much fight against that. That the man we know and adored was the man we loved and adored and continue to. I texted [Lauer] this morning and I said, 'I adore you.'"
Gifford's husband, Frank, had an affair during the 1990s, but the couple reconciled and rebuilt their relationship on the Lord.
"No person is perfect in this world," she said. "Nobody is. We've all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, is what Scripture says. And what we need now is forgiveness, and we need mercy for one another. We don't need taunts, and we don't need ugliness. We have enough of that in the world. I send out my love right now to the person, whoever it is, that came forward. May God heal that person. I send it to Matt, and his children and his wife—may God bless that family and heal. I'm sorry, Hoda, but in my long life, the only thing I've ever been sure of is that only God can heal it. And there's no bad time to reach out for his help."
Fellow journalist Garrison Keillor was fired today for inappropriate behavior, just hours after news broke about Lauer. The two are just the latest names to be added to the list of men who allegedly sexually harassed or behaved inappropriately around women.
Gifford continued to point her audience members toward Christ in the wake of headlines announcing prominent men's indiscretions.
"This is a good way to think of it, too," she added. "There was a man—a wonderful, wonderful man who was an adviser to me and Frank through our lifetime—and I had my eyes just on me for a long time, and I was upset and hurt, which you would normally be, like I'm sure Matt's family is. And he said, 'Kathie, if you can't forgive your husband,'—and this is important, you guys—'forgive your children's father.' Same person. Same person, but that's the one you love. That's the one you believe in. We are all so broken. We need somebody to put us back together. And it's possible, it's so possible. I'm living proof of it. Didn't mean to go to church, but that's where we needed to go today."
