“Then I gave them my report: “Face it: we’re in a bad way here. Jerusalem is a wreck; its gates are burned up. Come — let’s build the wall of Jerusalem and not live with this disgrace any longer.” I told them how God was supporting me and how the king was backing me up. They said, “We’re with you. Let’s get started.” They rolled up their sleeves, ready for the good work.” Nehemiah 2:17-18, THE MESSAGE

But the people saw this and spoke, “Y’hudah was saying, “The strength of the people who carry loads away is starting to fail, and there is so much rubble that we can’t build the wall.” Nehemiah 4:4, Complete Jewish Bible

How often have we seen the same situation in our day and then spoke those same words, “we can’t build the wall.”

As I was sharing encouragement back and forth with our Israeli friends, and posting words on our website from those speaking up and speaking out against the American and world unrest, given the situation that many find themselves experiencing these past months, the Holy Spirit gave me this word, “Out of the rubble.”

Then relating that word to Scripture, the foundation upon which we must always stand, I looked up the book of Nehemiah, written for our benefit and encouragement, who himself was called by the Lord out of Babylon to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the wall, out of the rubble.

What hope we have for today!

As the anarchists, cheered on by the wicked people in exalted thrones of authority, coupled with those seeking to destroy, vandalize, tear down the historical and spiritual foundations of our country, the Lord is speaking from the heavens, “Out of the rubble” I will rebuild My Wall, My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail.

“Simon Peter said, “You’re the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus came back, “God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You didn’t get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.” Matthew 16:16-18, THE MESSAGE

No hell on earth, no satanic forces in the heavens, no man, no woman, no government or reign of power will keep our God from building His Wall, His Church, His Kingdom that is to come on earth as it is in heaven.

No way! No how!

After telling His disciples, soon to be apostles (“sent out ones”) as to Who He was, He spoke this word of strength and encouragement to them, for they were going to need it.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.  “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.  “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?  “For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS. “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.” Matthew 16: 24-28, NASU

Out of the rubble will come the seeds that have been buried, placed there by the Lord from the beginning of time, to sprout forth at these end of days. As the enemy shows his true colors, and destruction seemingly flourishes and abounds, those whom the Lord has chosen, those whom the Lord has called, those who have accepted His command to “come and follow Me” with rise up, sprout with the new life they have within by the salvation brought through Jesus Christ and the empowerment of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, to rebuild the foundational walls, and see His Church established, as the One New Man, born again Jews and Gentiles, come together to do it.

The gates of hell will not prevail. The raging seas of people will not fully destroy it, seeking to do so as they may. The destructive forces of the wicked, demonic, total hellfire of the opposing side will never replace the One Who alone is seated on the throne, ready to soon return and take up His rightful place of His established Kingdom rule in Jerusalem.

“But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.  “All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;  and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.” Matthew 25:31-33, NASU

The Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, is not caught off guard by that which fills our newscasts of fake news. The Living God of Israel has not abandoned us. He has not forsaken us. He has not “left behind” those who have called, and will continue to call, upon His Name, along with those who are yet to be called to pick up His banner and perform His wondrous works.

Out of the rubble that mankind had brought in all his vast “wisdom and flaunting”, supposedly throwing off all that restrains to build their own kingdoms, will come the everlasting Kingdom that the Lord God Himself is establishing on the earth.

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.” Isiah 54:17, NKJV

So, I encourage you to stand fast as we are so encouraged to do throughout God’s Holy Word. “But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.” 2 Thessalonians, NKJV

The glory of the Lord will be revealed. He will be exalted. He will accomplish His plans and purposes throughout the earth.

The gates of hell shall not prevail. The Lord God Almighty will!

Know What You Need To Know

"Make me know Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:4-5, NASU

In this edition of “So What Do You Do?” I want to write of a common thought that has been held by believers in the Living God for far too long. It is that false misconception that being God is God, we are to just sit back, let Him do it all, and all will turn out all right.

It is the same thinking for many who think the local pastor is to do everything. No wonder they quit in droves.

Where in the Bible does it say that you and I are to go our merry way, seek our own pleasure daily, and care not about the world around us? How many pray the prayer, “Bless us four and no more?” Or to put it in these modern terms, “Me and my dog, O Lord, is who I care about today. Bless us two.”

I find it amazing that Christians in America have been so focused on their own prosperity and well-being that they don’t even know the names of other countries that exit is the world; how many are being martyred every day in other nations; or what is happening to the people and land of Israel, which the Almighty God speaks so much about in the full Bible – both in the Old and New Testaments, as we call it.

Stick my head in the sand. Pray a one-sentence prayer as I walk out the door. Be concerned only about my life and maybe my family, if I give them a thought today.

Just so you know, that is NOT what our Creator has made us to be, especially once we have acknowledged our sin, received His forgiveness, and have been shown to some degree at least His ways and purposes. If we are not involved in the lives of those He puts us in contact with every day, to be lights and salt in this earth, then why not just stop life now and go to heaven?

If our time here on this planet is to just live for ourselves, we are the ones who are missing the mark. And we will be held accountable for that. The time will come when everything we say and do with the time we have been given here will be looked over as we stand before our Creator on that day.

Jesus (Yeshua) spoke a very clear word to those who would listen, about what each of us do with what we have been given and entrusted with in our life. In this following passage of Scripture, He was speaking to His disciples - those who call themselves His followers. He did not mince words.

"For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.  And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money.

After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

"So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.'  His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'  

He also who had received two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.' His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'

"Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.'

"But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.  So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.

'For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'” (Matt 25:14-30, NKJV)

I encourage you to find out what your gifts and talents are (there are many ways to do that) and give yourself wholeheartedly for the purposes that the Lord has given you life to do with them.

There is far more to life than fulfilling your own pleasure and thrills.

Know what you need to know in order to fulfill that which you have been called to do. Don’t be among those who sit back, put in your 8 hours or whatever on the job, and then call it a day done.

Be one wanting to know His ways, always, and then share them with the world He has put you in.

No Pat on the Back for #3? Lynn Cowell, 06 Nov 05:55 AM You’ve just completed a major project or prepared a simple dinner. At the end of all your work and effort, there was silence. No applause. No thank-you. Not even an “atta-girl.” What are you feeling? Honestly, when I find myself in that situation, I wish I could say I’m fine. More than fine, since I’m doing all I do for the Lord alone, right? I’d like to think I don’t need others’ recognition. This summer I took the Enneagram test. Anyone else take it? Well, I “discovered” I’m a 3. Any other 3’s? They call us 3’s: The Achiever. We’re the success-oriented, pragmatic type; adaptable, excelling, driven and … gulp … image-conscious. Can I just tell you after I took this test, I actually pulled my hoodie over my head. Image-conscious? I felt like I was reading a description of many of the things I’ve been trying for years to overcome! Unfortunately, this “getting-past-performing” girl still gets stuck, especially at times when the thanks or compliments never come. I am so grateful for a woman like Deborah in Judges who models what it looks like to be a woman who doesn’t have to have the pats on the back. I encourage you to read this strong woman’s story found in Judges 4:1-16. Not only was she chosen to be the only woman to fulfill not only a military role, co-leading an army of 10,000 against an army with 900 chariots, she also served as a judge over all the Israelites. Following this major victory, Deborah’s proclams in Judges 5:2-3, “When the princes in Israel take the lead, when the people willingly offer themselves — praise the LORD! Hear this, you kings! Listen, you rulers! I, even I, will sing to the LORD; I will praise the LORD, the God of Israel, in song.” After such an amazing accomplishment, I don’t hear Deborah singing her own praises. No, not here, not in the verses before nor in the verses after. In fact, not only does Deborah not shine the light on her own success, but centuries later when the New Testament book of Hebrews was written, her name is actually missing. “And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions” (Hebrews 11:32-33, NIV). Here in the Hall of Faith, Deborah’s co-leader is listed; meanwhile, Deborah, a very important playmaker, is left out. If Deborah could somehow have seen this New Testament passage, how do you think she would have responded? You think she would have posted on Instagram to make sure she got some love somewhere? I don’t think Deborah would not be like me, wondering where her appreciation and attention came from. She obeyed God and did what she was called to do. Accolades and applause were not part of the package. The confidence in Christ woman doesn’t need appreciation. Deborah didn’t have to have an “atta-girl” from anyone but God. She continually pointed to God, never needing to draw attention to herself. A confident woman doesn’t crave other people’s approval; she already has God’s. When we know we have His approval, our craving for other people’s approval decreases. I’d love to say, “That’s me!” So self-assured, I don’t need reassurance from another. I’m not quite there yet; maybe you’re not, either. But, as we continue to learn about faith from women like Deborah, we can keep moving closer to becoming secure women with Christ-like confidence. Lord, I so want to be a woman whose whole purpose is to shine light on You. Build in me a confidence — built on You and Your approval of me — that no longer craves or needs the applause of others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. If you want some scriptures to mull over today, here is a few to copy onto phone: Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (NIV) Psalm 115:1, “Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your name give glory because of Your loving kindness, because of Your truth.” (NASB) Want to become more like Deborah? Greetings my friends, 

Yesterday on Monday, August 21, between 2 pm - 2:45 pm in Charlotte, North Carolina where I live and work, I experienced the "Great American Eclipse" as it was called here. We were not directly under the path of the moon as it crossed between earth and the sun, but we did see over 97% of the sun blocked by the moon during this time. The 95F temperature cooled at least 5 degrees during the peak of the eclipse.  But what impressed me the most was that even with less than 10% of its rays reaching our portion of this planet during this time, it still seemed like full daylight! As I told Laurie later, if you didn't know an eclipse was occurring, you may have thought just a cloud was passing overhead.

As I looked through my Canon PowerShot camera while using the special glasses for the event, the Lord kept impressing upon me that yet when only a small portion of His light gets through the darkness, He still fully lights up the world! His immense glory cannot be hidden or kept from bringing the word of salvation and life to those He loves; these that are in all the nations.

As He continues to call the people to repentance, my heart is that many will "see" and hear His calling forth their names to come to Him. We, as part of His body, are called to be an extension of His arms of love. We are also to be the lights in the darkness around us, which will draw all men and women unto Him.

Be encouraged on the job today, as you are a light, just by your presence and the aroma of the Holy Spirit working through you. People are watching, listening and will respond in due time.

“Just Say Yes”

“Now the LORD had said to Abram, ‘Get out of your country, from your family… to a land that I will show you…’ So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him.” Genesis 12:1,4

God said. Abram obeyed. He left everything- home, family, friends, country, all that was familiar. He was going… only God knew where. Abram trusted, completely. He said, ‘Yes’ by his obedience.

One night in 1979, God spoke to my husband and told him to take his family to Israel. To live. At the time, we had no idea why we would go to Israel. We weren’t missionaries. We knew nothing about Israel other than what was in the Bible and the news. We had no friends there. And we hadn’t a clue about Jewish immigration - Aliyah as it's called. We hadn’t even heard the word before!!

Clueless would adequately describe us at the time. 

The only thing we knew for certain - God said “Go”. We said, “Yes”.

With our hearts looking towards the Land, we spent the next 10 years learning and getting prepared. Finally, in 1989, we took our five children and followed the Lord to Israel. It wasn’t a Garden of Eden. There were probably more tough times than good ones. LOTS of ‘giants’ in the Land and, as we learned, in our hearts also. We were tested and tried and stretched. And…. we learned.

We learned who Y’shua really is and what a relationship with Him is like. We, on the battleground, became more experienced in spiritual warfare. We practiced loving when we weren’t loved. We experienced the Presence of God.

Through all of that there never was a time that we regretted our decision. We have now lived here for a combination of 18 years.

This week I was blessed to travel the Land for five days. From Caesarea, to Haifa Bay, to the Sea of Galilee, and Capernaum.  Down to the Dead Sea and then on to Mitzpa Ramon, a crater near Egypt. What a wonderfully blessed place this is.

While I was watching the sun come up from the crater and worshipping, I was overcome with gratitude. I cried out to God, “Why have we been allowed to live here?”

And just as at times before when we have asked this question, the answer was the same - because you said “Yes!”

Those who follow Y’shua have many times when He says to us, "Leave all that is familiar. Move into My will. Receive My promise, My task, My desire."

It is always so easy to start weighing out the pros & cons of obeying. But like Abram, God is wanting our unqualified yes!

In relation to Israel (which is what these messages are about), what is He asking of you?

Using the Word as your insight to His will and plan, where is your part?

What about sharing the Gospel with Jewish people who do not know their Messiah as yet? 

(Romans 1:16, 10:1)

To pray for the peace of Jerusalem? (Psalm 122:6)

To be a watchman on the wall? (Isaiah 62:6)

To comfort His people? (Isaiah 40:1)

If you are truly Jewish, to make Aliyah? (Isaiah 43:5,6; Jeremiah 29:11-14)

If you are Gentile - to help facilitate the Aliyah? (Isaiah 49:22)

Has He made His desire known?  He has a place for you in what He is doing these days in Israel.   

I would encourage you, like Abram, to say, ‘Yes’.
