Ahava Love Letters & Now Think On This

Feb. 9, 2014

Dear friends,

After my 10th trip to Israel, the Lord Yeshua (Jesus) released me to write. And write I did! Since then, I have now written 110 Ahava Love Letters (as of Feb. 10, 2014.) I am thankful to the Lord for this gift He has given me (and for the #10!)

I am thankful for my good wife Laurie for allowing me to type at all hours of the day. I am thankful for my son Ben for doing the Ahava Love Letter logo. I am most thankful for you, the readers, who have read my messages here, on our two Facebook pages, my four Twitter accounts, and my other blog - Ahava Love Letters. Most of them I have published in two of my two books, Ahava Love Letters and Now Think On This.

As seasons change, so do names and logos. And so it is with my Ahava Love Letters, which will now become Now Think On This. Same insightful messages - just a different look.

I will continue to share encouraging words - standing for your Christian faith, believing in the Lord's plans and purpsoes for Israel, and even now and then about the Lord's creation, such as our Dachshund Zoe!

Blessings on ye heads,

Steve Martin

Now Think On This - Steve Martin's 4th book - Paperback $7.16 and Kindle $3.95 - 144 pages and 50 photos

Messages to strengthen
the hope within,
as you press on with
His love through you.

Available on Amazon: paperback $7.16 and Kindle $1.95

Now Think On This are thoughts I have written and shared on my two blogs Love For His People and Ahava Love Letters/Now Think On This. They cover a variety of topics that believers in Jesus (Yeshua) are interested in. Each one can also be a means of bringing encouragement to you as you walk the daily walk.

Many times these messages came as a result of inspiration by the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh). I would be driving along, and He would give me a thought, which I would then write down on a notecard or whatever piece of paper was handy, If my good wife Laurie was riding with me, I would ask her to write the thought down, so as not to risk our lives while driving down the interstate highway at a high speed, headed to our next destination.

My previous book of similar messages, Ahava Love Letters, published in the fall of 2013, first began showing up on the written page in November of 2010, after I had returned from Israel for the 10th time. We had just established our ministry to bless friends in Israel and the nations, which we named Love For His People, Inc, in April of 2010. I was asking the Lord for the next directive. His response was to use one of the gifts He had given me – to write. Some would call it a teaching gift. It took me a long time to see it that way, but now I do. And so I write.

Daily we are bombarded with negative news, pressures of the job, and conflicts to be dealt with. We all need encouragement. We need the assurance that our Creator, the One who knows the plans He has for us, is still in control. These messages will bring you hope, give you the solid sense of His hand on all, and increase your faith to stand strong on your convictions. I purposely kept each one short so you can read them alongside your Bible or other daily material.

Ahava - What Does It Mean? (Hebrew word)

The word "AHAVA" in Hebrew
- love in English

Love, Jewish Style

By Ahuva Bloomfield

Hebrew, as one may know, is considered by the Bible to be the first language. It is the language through which God spoke in creating the world. Hence, Hebrew was not just created by God, but utilized by God in creating the world. Much wisdom is attributed to the words and letters in the Hebrew language.

Understanding the concepts that are invested in words can aid us in our own lives. As an interesting example, the word "love" which is thrown about so freely in English, has a special meaning in Hebrew.

Love in Hebrew is "Ahava" , which is made up of three basic Hebrew letters, . These three letters actually are broken down into two parts: a two letter base or root, , and the first letter, , which is a modifier. The meaning of the two letter base, , is "to give". The letter "aleph" , which precedes these two letters comes to modify the meaning of the base word, "give". The meaning of , is "I give" and also "love".

We now see the connection between the two words, "I give" and "love". Love is giving. Now only is love giving, but the actual process of giving develops the very connection between the giver and the receiver.

There is no greater giving than that of a husband and wife. Each one gives to the other. The more giving that one does, the greater is the connection.

Why? The process of giving is a vehicle through which the giver through his act of giving is able to, through a physical gift (or even a verbal comment), give of himself to another. This act of giving something is not merely helping another. For sure, giving is helping another, but it is much more than that.

Giving is a method that enables us to make a connection to another. When we give to another, that which we give to him/her, could have been utilize to further our own self. In stead, we choose to take this object, which could have been utilized for our own needs and instead, use it for someone else.

Giving is a condition that creates and sustains love. With out giving, there is no connection that is sustaining.

The true relationships that our meaningful in our lives are those in which mutual giving takes place. The giving may be physical, emotional, intellectual or a combination. But with out giving from ourselves, no relationship can be enduring.

That is the secret of love that is revealed to us by the Hebrew language. This is the secret that is invested in the language by the Creator.

Book Summary

After sending out e-journal reports from a trip to Israel in 2010, I asked the Lord one early morning during prayer, “Now what?” He spoke, saying to use one of the gifts I had been given. “Write love letters.” Thus was born the “Ahava Love Letters.” “Ahava” is the Hebrew word for love. It is a joy to share with you from my life’s journeys. I will take you from “Main Street” to the rocky roads in Israel, with words of encouragement for the daily walk. Read one letter a week over a course of a year, or finish sooner. If the latter, then you must be getting some real inspiration and can’t put the book down! We all have stories to tell. Please let me know if you enjoy these!
Ahava,
Steve Martin
