Deliverance From Evil

“But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.” 1 Timothy 4:1-3 (NASB)

When the young girl rose up violently from the floor, rapidly pulled up by something, from laying flat on her back, and spoke in a loud, man’s gruff voice, “I am not leaving her. I have been here too long” - my opinion of whether demons existed or not needed no further proof of their reality.

And a decade before that, in 1973 when I was still a young adult and open to all that would try to convince me of the other side in the supernatural realm, I saw the movie The Exorcist with actress Linda Blair, in my high school senior year. That was indeed demonic, and no one can convince me otherwise.

With the passing of these last 45 years since then, when most of America yet seemed to follow God, the increase of demonic activity, revealing itself through witchcraft, anti-Semitism, racism and white supremacy (to name a few, all in the same classification) should be enough to convince anyone who walks and talks that the work of demons and their leadership from the underworld has vastly increased in people’s lives.

Even Walt Disney Pictures has very subtlety pushed their spiritual agenda on our kids, in the guise of fun, wholesomeness, tolerance, and acceptance, when all along it is simply witchcraft too.

The Bible teachers and deliverance ministers I sat under for clear Scriptural truth, during my early Christian years, laying a great foundation in my spiritual life, included Derek Prince (his classic book They Shall Expel Demons is a must-read), Don Basham (his book Deliver Us From Evil also a classic), and Mahesh Chavda (read Only Love Can Make A Miracle). They taught, straight from the Word of God, that demons, deliverance, and spiritual warfare was very real, and as believers, we need to know how to combat and overcome the forces opposed to our very existence, and that of our families and friends.

There are far too many Christians, and of course non-believers, who would like to dismiss the work of the enemy as non-existent; choosing instead to allocate everything affecting us as either a physical, mental, or ancestral problem. Hence, they will use natural means to try and overcome a spiritual problem.

Is everything bad thing caused by demonic activity? No, of course not. Most of our situations are caused by sin in our own lives that we bring on ourselves, through disobedience to God’s Word. Drunkenness, alcoholism, sexual perversity, homosexuality, and pornography are not caused by a disease, but most often are results of sin and generational curses brought down through sin of our forefathers. But there is certainly demonic activity that requires deliverance, and which will not “be cured” except by this supernatural action. Generational curses can be broken. As darkness increases exponentially during these times and as the satanic force sees his time drawing to an end, especially since the rebirth of Israel in 1948, we must know, practice, and confront head-on the deceit, lies, and the deception that abounds. Deliverance can bring freedom.

The Holy Spirit will open our eyes if we ask. So, we must ask.

Why I Go So Often To Israel

“Then I will reverse your exile. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have driven you,’ says Adonai, ‘and bring you back to the place from which I exiled you.’ (Jeremiah 29:14, Complete Jewish Bible)

“So why do you go to Israel so often?” I was asked recently, after returning from my most recent time to that nation traveled many times to over the past decades. That was followed with the statement, “Your sister asked me”, from an immediate family member. I am sure they were wondering the same.

I am quite positive others have thought that too. “Well, he’s just a bit …..?” I must admit that that has been spoken by more than one too.

Why not spend the money on a dream vacation to Hawaii, or a week-long cruise to the Bahamas; or a rented car tour throughout France or other parts of Europe? Hey, why not even a night out at Wrigley Field, which some still hold dear to their hearts. That would only cost a mere $200 or so, depending on seats, food, parking, and more.

Simple answer: the Lord has given me that privilege, honor, and life’s purpose, and I know it clearly. Even before I was prophesied as being called as a “scepter for Zion”, when I was ordained in 2003 in the little town of Pineville (kind of like Bethlehem is to Jerusalem in size and distance, but in this case, Charlotte, North Carolina where we have lived the past 25 years, since 1994) it had been firmly planted in my heart.

“Privilege?” you write? “Called?” you ask? “Honor?” you say? What is a scepter for Zion anyway?

Let me tell you.

Since that cool, August night at the Mackinac Island, Michigan Christian conference back in 1978, 

having driven the long, long hours from our home at that time in Peru, Illinois, though East Lansing, Michigan, the Lord has put in my spiritual and natural being to connect with the land and people of Israel. When the great Bible teacher Derek Prince spoke eloquently and specifically about “Our Debt To Israel”, as Christian believers, something was birthed in my heart. And it has grown in size ever since. (Not to be funny, but the Lord changes hearts. Similar to the story with the fictional Grinch.)

Having been raised a Catholic, I had been wrongly taught that the Roman church was now “Israel”; that all that had been promised to the Jews and their Promised Land had been passed onto the ones Yeshua (Jesus) had called Himself to be His disciples (not pope) – Peter and His  followers. Starting just a few decades after His ascension, and definitely by 330 AD,  with the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, that church organization has been trying to, and has accomplished much, in “de-Jewing” the very foundation of the Judeo-Christian faith.

Having falsely claimed this as the truth, the Replacement Theology theory, which I didn’t even know about until a few decades ago, has consumed the masses, declaring that the Church has replaced Israel and all the promises pertaining to it and the Jews.

That is what the Deceiver and Liar does – he twists the truth until people, in their accepting deception, can’t see the truth being eliminated, even as it is happening right in front of them.

So prevalent today in the societies of the nations worldwide, even that which has been rightly known as blatantly wrong is now considered right. Evil has replaced good as the accepted norm.

When it comes to Israel and the Land belonging to the Jews, as given to them by the Creator of the Universe, God Almighty, it has now been long taught throughout all reporting and newscasts that they, Israel and the Jews, are wrong, and everyone else is right. How absurd!

It is because He is right, stated for all ages in His Word, that I go to Israel so much. To stand with my friends the Jews while at the same time counting myself among those who do, and forever will, continue to do so, is a privilege and honor.

The Lord is returning His people to their Land. It is called aliyah. I see it. I know it. I stand with them in the midst of it, in the very land of Israel.

"For on My holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel," declares the Lord God, "there the whole house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land; there I will accept them and there I will seek your contributions and the choicest of your gifts, with all your holy things. As a soothing aroma I will accept you when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered; and I will prove Myself holy among you in the sight of the nations. And you will know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the land which I swore to give to your forefathers.” (Ezekiel 20:40-42, NASU)

This is just one verse out of the entire Bible where He proclaims, He will bring them back.

I believe God. I believe in His Son, Yeshua (Jesus). I trust the Third Person of the Trinity, Holy Spirit. Therefore, what They have had written about Israel, from beginning to end, I don’t twist and turn for my own theological purposes. I take it for what He says it says and go with it. 

That makes it right. No one or no other will change that.

One thing I can further be sure is this, that even as the rest of the world shakes, rattles and rolls, the Lord reigns, His Word is true, and those who stand committed to His purposes, knowing the end of the Book, will, in the end, see His long-time plans fulfilled.

Thank you, Yeshua. And thank You for the friends and relationships You have established, and continue to expand, as we bless Your people in Israel. The rewards promised are even greater.

"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.  And where I go you know, and the way you know." (John 14:1-4, NKJV)

Billy Graham went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on February 22, 2018, from his earthly home in Montreat, North Carolina. Those who are believers know that is where he went. He himself knew this destination beforehand, whereupon at his death, at this appointed time when he crossed over from this life to the next, he would be with the Lord. He based it on his belief in the Lord Jesus’ promise of resurrected life.

Those who do not believe in Jesus, in heaven, in that glorious life hereafter, have no such hope. The unknown brings fear as death is faced. But they can know.

Since his acceptance of the Lord’s offer of salvation and forgiveness when he was 19, Billy Frank Graham knew where eternity would find him. In the 80 years that followed, he never let go of that eternal promise, to be there also where the Lord had prepared a place for him. In faith, he too was faithful to share that promise to over 200 million worldwide. The ones who also believed in the Gospel message will join him there someday if they haven’t gone on already.

Billy didn’t make it to heaven based on his good works. He too had to acknowledge that sin keeps us from the God the Father, and only through the sacrificial shed blood of Jesus on the cross is there forgiveness of the multitude of sins each of us have committed. Though we may not fully comprehend this chosen way of the Lord, in order to cross over into His heavenly realm, we must believe that what the Bible says holds true, even to this day.

“Now, brothers, we want you to know the truth about those who have died; otherwise, you might become sad the way other people do who have nothing to hope for. For since we believe that Yeshua died and rose again, we also believe that in the same way God, through Yeshua, will take with him those who have died.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, Complete Jewish Bible)

Whenever I can, I like to visit gravesites and read what is written on the tombstones. The short inscriptions typically reveal whether the person whose body lies in the grave had eternal hope or not. What they professed on earth is often, or not, memorialized in granite, and engraved in a few words. My spirit rejoices with those who proclaimed the Lord as Savior and Lord. I can only hope that the others met their Creator in mercy and forgiveness here, before they met Him on the other side. For it is true that each of us will face our Maker for judgment.

At times like these, when a person known to us dies, it is good to stop and confess our eternal hope, reaffirming our belief in the known. No fear of death, no doubts of that beyond the grave need to reside with those of us who believe. Along with those who have gone on before, we too can look forward to the time when our glorious reward awaits us in our heavenly home.

Nov. 25, 2017 Greetings from Charlotte, North Carolina. All around the world as this holiday season comes upon us, many eyes will turn to the Holy Land, where Jesus (Yeshua) came to redeem man. Having been to Israel now 15 times, the more I go the more I see what the Lord is now doing in these times we live in. Above all, He is calling us to Himself, letting us know that salvation is found only in Him. In my most recent series of Now Think On This messages, I have been sharing experiences from those many times in Jerusalem - both from my own days with friends there, and others who have gone before, preparing the road to the Land for many to follow. With Jews making aliyah (returning/immigrating) back to their Promised Land, and believers coming more into realization, and acknowledgment, of the roots of their faith from their Biblical brothers and sisters, unity will come between us. In these days ahead, stop and realize that our Lord is gathering to Himself, and will come again in triumphant glory to bring His peace and love to the nations. For if the Gentiles have shared with the Jews in spiritual matters, then the Gentiles clearly have a duty to help the Jews in material matters.” (Romans 15:27-28, Complete Jewish Bible) Derek Prince (1915-2003), one of my favorite all-time Bible teachers (born in India to British parents, educated at Eaton and King’s College in England, pastored in Canada, ministered from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Hawaii and Jerusalem, and buried in the German Colony of Jerusalem) spoke often of the Gentiles’ (goyim, non-Jews) debt to Israel and the Jews. In fact, his small booklet, Our Debt To Israel, had a profound impact on my life in 1985. Truth was discovered and believed. Having studied God’s Word extensively, and thus becoming a strong supporter of the Jewish nation of Israel, while at the same time dismissing the errant teaching of Replacement Theology (the lie that the Church has replaced the promises given to the Jews, land and all), Derek preached and taught that those who have received so much from the Jews owe so much to the Jews. Knowing that foundationally all that we have, as believers in Jesus (Hebrew/Jewish name Yeshua), has come through the Jews (God’s Chosen People), as Gentiles being grafted into the olive tree (Israel), we must be strong in our commitment and support of the Jews continually and unwavering, as Derek taught. Beginning with the Patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob), through the Prophets (Isaiah, Daniel, Jeremiah, Amos, and more), with the Kings (Saul, David, Solomon) and then ultimately with the lineage birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem (Bet Lehem, Israel), Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Christ) - all that we have, fully inscribed and written through the centuries in the Torah, Tanakh and complete Bible – proves historically and spiritually that salvation for the nations has come through the Jews. Even all but one of the apostles (Luke the Physician), those who received God's Word through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and wrote the complete New Testament, were Jews.  Read more: Full message Our world needs saving. The nations are in much turmoil, rage, anger, and lawlessness. Just keep watching the news and it is obvious that times are changing, and it is not changing for the good. It is happening just as the prophets spoke; just as Jesus (Yeshua) Himself said in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 as to how it would come about. The signs are all around us, forth-telling those exact events which would take place before the Lamb of God returns as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ, is the Messiah of Jews and Gentiles, for all who call upon His name for salvation. All indications are that He is coming back soon. While time is yet with us, and there is light among the growing darkness, we must work with His Holy Spirit to spread the Good News. This is the news of His salvation, which is available to any and all who come to Him, for freedom from sin, death, destruction and all evil.
