UN Condemns US on Jerusalem, Haley Tells Nations 'We Will Remember' This - CBN News Jennifer Wishon

UN Condemns US on Jerusalem, Haley Tells Nations 'We Will Remember' This
Dec. 21, 2017 CBN News Jennifer Wishon
The United Nations General Assembly today approved a resolution 128 to 9 calling President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and plans to move the U.S. embassy there “null and void” — however, it does nothing to change U.S. plans.
The vote comes after U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley warned member nations she would be “taking names” of those who vote against the United States.
President Trump took it a step further by threatening to cut off U.S. funding to the U.N. The United States is the largest contributor to the international body.
“This is bullying,” said the ambassador from Turkey adding, the “dignity of member states is not for sale."
Ambassador Haley told the body that the U.S. feeds, clothes and educates desperate people while nurturing and sustaining peace in fragile places throughout the world because it’s a reflection of American values. However, she said, when the U.S. makes generous contributions to the U.N. and the world we expect that goodwill to be respected.
“We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world's largest contribution to the United Nations. And we will remember it when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit," she said.
President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move the U.S. embassy there is a reflection of U.S. law dating back to 1995, she said.
“America will put our embassy in Jerusalem. That is what the American people want us to do and it’s the right thing to do,” she added.
“This vote,” she said, “will change the way Americans look at the U.N.”
The Israeli ambassador followed Haley at the podium and called out the hypocrisy of the U.N. He asked why there was no resolution condemning Arab nations for calling for “days of rage” and violence following President Trump’s announcement.
“Those who support today’s resolutions are like puppets pulled by the puppet strings of your Palestinian puppet masters,” he said calling them “blind to the light” and “unaware of the manipulation surrounding you”.
Despite countries calling for support of the Palestinians, the Israeli ambassador pointed out that the resolution will do nothing to give Palestinians the real help they need like jobs.
Other countries that took the podium to speak out against the U.S. and Israel include Iran, China and Venezuela.

Bible Studies at the White House: Who's Inside This Spiritual Awakening? - CBN News Jennifer Wishon

Bible Studies at the White House: Who's Inside This Spiritual Awakening?
07-31-2017 CBN News
Jennifer Wishon

WASHINGTON – A spiritual awakening is underway at the White House. Some of the most powerful people in America have been gathering weekly to learn more about God's Word, and this Trump Cabinet Bible study is making history.

They've been called the most evangelical Cabinet in history – men and women who don't mince words when it comes to where they stand on God and the Bible.

Ralph Drollinger of Capitol Ministries told CBN News, "These are godly individuals that God has risen to a position of prominence in our culture."

They're all handpicked by President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

For more, tune into Faith Nation, Wed. @12:30pm, onfacebook.com/cbnnews. White House Correspondent Jennifer Wishon will be LIVE to discuss this Bible study's impact on the White House climate.

"I don't think Donald Trump has figured out that he chained himself to the Apostle Paul," Drollinger laughed.

Drollinger is a former NBA-playing giant of a man with an even bigger calling. He founded Capitol Ministries with the idea that if you change the hearts of lawmakers, then their Christian world view will guide them to make good policies.

He's started Bible studies in 40 state capitols, a number of foreign capitols, teaches weekly studies in the U.S. House and Senate and now leads about a dozen members of President Trump's Cabinet in weekly studies of the scriptures.

Health Secretary Tom Price, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Agriculture Secretary Sunny Perdue, and CIA Director Mike Pompeo are just a few of the regulars.

"It's the best Bible study that I've ever taught in my life. They are so teachable; they're so noble; they're so learned," Drollinger said.

It's groundbreaking since he doesn't think a formal Bible study among executive Cabinet members has been done in at least 100 years.

America's top cop, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, also attends the study.

"He'll (Jeff Sessions) go out the same day I teach him something and I'll see him do it on camera and I just think, 'Wow, these guys are faithful, available and teachable and they're at Bible study every week they're in town,'" Drollinger said.

President Trump is invited to attend the Bible studies, too. Each week he receives a copy of Drollinger's teaching.

And Vice President Pence is also planning to join the study as his schedule permits. He also serves as a sponsor.

In Pence, Drollinger sees many similarities to biblical figures like Joseph, Mordecai and Daniel – all men who rose to the number two position in governments at different times in history.

"Mike Pence has respect for the office. He dresses right - like it says Joseph cleaned himself up before he went to stand before the Pharaoh," Drollinger told CBN News.

"Mike Pence has uncompromising biblical tenacity and he has a loving tone about him that's not just a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal," he continued. "And then fourthly, he brings real value to the head of the nation."

Like others, Drollinger often compares President Trump to biblical strongman Samson.

"I just praise God for them," he said. "And I praise God for Mike Pence, who I think with Donald Trump chose great people to lead our nation."

A 'New Day' for Christians Under Trump Administration? - CBN News Jennifer Wishon

A 'New Day' for Christians Under Trump Administration?
01-11-2017
CBN News Jennifer Wishon

WASHINGTON -- For nearly a decade, it seemed like Washington sent conservative Christians to wander in the wilderness, and now they feel a sense of deliverance.
"The Christians are being treated horribly because we have nobody to represent the Christians," Donald Trump told CBN News shortly before he announced he was running for president.
Throughout his campaign, Trump reinforced his promises and since winning the election he's appointed one Christian conservative after another to his cabinet.
"I will be the greatest representative of the Christians they've had in a long time," Trump continued.
A 'New Day' in Washington
And now the vast majority of evangelicals who helped send him to the White House are ready to reap their rewards. Those include the appointment of pro-life Supreme Court justices and banning late term abortions.
"A baby in the womb that has all its vital organs, has eyelashes and fingernails, can hear and respond to its mothers voice and feel pain deserves legal protection as a member of our human family. And he's agreed to sign that into law," said Penny Nance.
As president of Concerned Women for America, an author and a fierce advocate for the unborn, Nance says it feels like a new day in Washington.
"I really believe God listened to the prayers of the faithful around this country as we reached out one more time and said give us another chance," Nance said.
Freedom to Live Their Faith
There's also an expectation the new president will enforce the constitutional right for Christians to live their faith and obey their consciences. It's an issue that led to an historic turnout on election day.
"I think there's no more important issue at home or abroad than freedom of conscience or religious liberty," said Charles Haynes, founder of the Religious Freedom Center of the Newseum Institute.
"In this country, people seem to get the idea that now in the public square people of faith should be quiet about it, keep it in their homes or their churches or their places of worship but actually that's absurd. I mean, for most believers of any faith, practicing one's faith means practicing it all the time," Haynes continued.
"I don't want to equate persecution in the United States compared to what's taking place in China or anything like that, but you're seeing people of faith squeezed out," said Frank Wolf, fellow at the 21st Century Wilberforce Initiative.
"We're finding a hostility in the media. We're finding it's okay to ridicule a Catholic priest or a Christian missionary - they're almost the brunt of a joke," Wolf said.
Christians wished it was a joke when the U.S. Civil Rights Commission issued its September report on religious freedom.
Commission chairman Martin Castro wrote "The phrases 'religious liberty' and 'religious freedom' will stand for nothing except hypocrisy so long as they remain code words for discrimination, intolerance, racism, sexism, homophobia, Islamophobia, Christian supremacy or any form of intolerance."
"This report was appalling to me because it really essentially said, when there's a conflict between principles in our public arena, nondiscrimination for example and religious freedom, guess what? Nondiscrimination always wins, religious freedom never has a voice," Haynes said.
We've entered an era, he says, where the claim of religious freedom is perceived as an effort to deny someone else their rights.
Frustration Turns to Relief
"By using language that suggests that Christians who object or who want accommodation are just by definition bigots is very wrong and dangerous," Haynes continued.
It's a frustration that has turned to relief for Christians with the new arrival of an advocate in the White House and Christians happy with Trump are thrilled with his vice president. Former congressman Frank Wolf served with Mike Pence in the house.
"We have one of finest men that I've ever served with as vice president. Mike Pence is honest, ethical, decent, moral man of great faith and so the opportunity and I think President-elect Trump has been very sympathetic," Wolf said.
He adds that the church needs to keep the lines of communication open with both the new president and Congress to keep this agenda moving in the right direction.

This Former Secret Service Officer Details the Clintons' Shocking 'Crisis of Character' - CBN News Jennifer Wishon. Watch Video.

CBN News Jennifer Wishon

Many books have been written about the chaos inside the Clinton White House.
The latest insight is by a member of the Secret Service who protected the Clintons. And his new book is making waves in the presidential race.
As a uniformed officer in the Secret Service, Gary Byrne stood guard outside the Oval Office while the Clintons served inside.
Gary Byrne talks about what he witnessed about the Clintons on The 700 Club, Friday.

It was his dream job, but Byrne witnessed things that led him to speak out in his new book, Crisis of Character: A White House Secret Service Officer Discloses His Firsthand Experience with Hillary, Bill, and How They Operate.
He details how Hillary Clinton belittled Secret Service officers on her detail, even throwing a Bible at one agent and hitting him on the head.
In front of cameras, the former First Lady was warm and friendly, he said. But outside the public eye he says she was cold, emotional, and even dangerous.
Byrne also reveals he tried to keep Monica Lewinsky away from President Clinton. He said he also concealed other affairs the president had inside the White House, including one with Eleanor Mondale, daughter of former Vice President Walter Mondale.
Before she died in 2011 from brain cancer, Mondale suggested she and the president were just friends.
Clinton allies are also fighting back, saying Byrne didn't have the access to know the details that he claims in his book.
But as Hillary Clinton now seeks the White House, Byrne writes that from the bottom of his soul he knows she lacks the integrity and temperament to serve as president.

Obama, Netanyahu Agree to Disagree on Iran - Jennifer Wishon CBN NEWS

Obama, Netanyahu Agree to Disagree
on Iran

WASHINGTON -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in the U.S. this week. He's fresh off a meeting with President Barack Obama at the White House where the two leaders worked to mend some badly damaged fences.

With a handshake, they showed they were putting their solidarity on display for Israel's enemies.

The two men have always held vastly different world views. But their relationship has been particularly sour since the president feverishly pushed for a nuclear deal with Iran that the prime minister -- and others across the political spectrum in Israel -- adamantly opposed.
"It is no secret that the prime minister and I have had strong disagreement on this narrow issue, but we don't have a disagreement on making sure Iran doesn't get a nuclear weapon," President Obama said.
"And we don't have a disagreement about us blunting destabilizing activities that Iran may be taking," he continued. "And so we are looking to make sure that we find common ground there."

The president tried to made it clear he stands with Israel, but the Israeli people may not buy it.
Some Israelis refer to the president by his middle name, "Hussein," a reference to his Muslim heritage. Polling earlier this year showed just 9 percent of Israelis described this White House as pro-Israel.

The president condemned recent Palestinian violence against innocent Israeli citizens.

And while peace talks are on ice, Netanyahu says he remains committed to a peaceful two- state solution with the Palestinians.
"I don't think anyone should doubt Israel's determination to defend itself against terror and destruction, but neither should anyone doubt Israel's willingness to make peace with any of its neighbors that genuinely want to achieve peace with us," Netanyahu said.

International analysts say it's important for Israel's enemies to see the U.S. and Israel stand together.
"There is a symbolic component that those enemies need to understand that there isn't any daylight between the United States and Israel as far as our alliance and our friendship and that message has to be put out there very strongly," Steve Bucci of The Heritage Foundation said.

While in Washington, Netanyahu is speaking both to conservative and progressive groups to make the case that the security of Israel isn't a partisan issue.
"Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East," Bucci said. "It's the most Western looking country for a lot of miles in that area and we really need that relationship almost as much as Israel does."

Have you had a chance to see any of the blood moons that have decorated the heavens over the past year?
Blood moons are a somewhat common. What's rare is so many of them appearing so close together forming what's called a tetrad.
CBN's Erick Stakelbeck first reported on blood moons more than a year ago and his story went viral. It's been viewed more than a million times.
We wondered why Erick decided to cover blood moons andwhy he thinks so many people are interested.
Historically blood moon tetrads have coincided with major events for Israel and the Jewish people.
"I don't believe in coincidences," Erick says. "Fasten your seat belts."

Fmr Israeli Envoy's Candid Book Ruffles US Feathers - Michael Oren

Fmr Israeli Envoy's Candid Book Ruffles US Feathers

WASHINGTON -- Over the past six years, as the relationship between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu deteriorated, former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren wrote a book that has some in the Obama administration crying foul.
Entitled, Ally: My Journey across the American-Israeli Divide, the book provides an insider's look into the relationship between the two allies.
"On one hand, the relationship has never been better," Oren told CBN News. "Support for Israel in this country is at an all-time high."
"We have a certain difficult and complex relationship with this administration because the president had a worldview, the worldview included very open support for the Palestinian cause, an open attempt to reconcile with Iran, and Iran wants to destroy us so there's already a problem," he explained.
'It's a Bad Deal'
The book's release coincided with U.S.-led negotiations on Iran's nuclear weapons program and what many believe is its goal to build a nuclear bomb.
"The deal on the table now, which enables Iran to keep all of its nuclear infrastructure, its centrifuges, its facilities, that doesn't include research and development, they could make more advanced machinery that would enrich uranium even faster," Oren said. "It doesn't include the missiles; it's not linked to Iran's behavior. Iran is the world's largest sponsor of state terrorism."
"If the agreement is not attached or linked in any way to a change in Iran's behavior, then it's a bad deal and it endangers my country," he continued. "But beyond that it will endanger America and people have to internalize that."
"But understand, they have missiles, and those missiles will be able to reach this studio in a matter of years," Oren warned. "And those missiles have one purpose and one purpose only and that is to carry a nuclear warhead."
Many wonder whether the damage wrought U.S.-Israeli relations be repaired.
"One of the most cardinal things that we can do is restore these two principles that are called "no daylight" and "no surprises," Oren told CBN News. "No daylight means we can disagree on all sorts of things -- and two countries, even allies, will disagree."
"But it's very important that we don't have our disagreements out in front of the world because our enemies, our common enemies, will interpret that as weakness and they'll use it against us," he said.
Oren is now serving as a member of the Israeli Knesset, where to process of legislating is markedly different than in the U.S.
"We have a different political culture in the Knesset. We yell and scream, something you'd never think of doing in Congress," he explained. "People don't curse one another, but I think if the seats weren't screwed down people would be throwing them."
"All this is happening a two-hour drive from ISIS, the distance between where we are sitting and Philadelphia," Oren noted. "And the other extraordinary thing is I'm probably the only person in the room that thinks this is extraordinary because everyone thinks it's the most normal thing in the world."
Oren's Greatest Accomplishment
Oren says his greatest accomplishment, his greatest joy, is having Israeli grandchildren.
"I just think that I'm the luckiest man going to be alive in history at this moment," he told CBN News. "And to come to this country, Israel, and to start with nothing - I came with a backpack."
"And back then it was, 40 years ago, it was like the Wild West and to build a family and to look at these two Israeli grandchildren, it's my greatest accomplishment in life," he concluded.

What Happened to Idol's Dreadlocked Jason Castro? By Jennifer Wishon and Amber Strong - CBN News

What Happened to Idol's

Dreadlocked Jason Castro?

DALLAS -- He may not have taken the crown, but fans of "American Idol" still remember former contestant Jason Castro for his dreadlocks and carefree sound. He scored big on the show, making it all the way to the top four.

American Idol - 2008

After leaving Idol in 2008, Castro quickly scored a No. 1 international hit. Then he disappeared from the charts and the pop music scene, leaving fans with questions: What happened? Why the switch to Christian music?

And perhaps the biggest question of all: What's up with the haircut?

"Well, I felt like it was time for a change. Once I cut it I'm like, 'Oh, this is what it feels like to run your fingers through your hair,'" Castro laughed.

But that hair cut wasn't the only big change for the 27-year-old.

Even with all the fans and fame, loneliness began to take a toll. Although Castro grew up in church, the separation from family developed into a growing separation from God. He also struggled physically with exhaustion.

A New Sound

Then came the faith questions.

"It started to feel a little meaningless. Why am I doing this? To make a name for myself? To make some money? I started to really have a longing to have more God in my life," Castro said.

"I struggled to stay close to God on the road. I wanted more God in my life and as a part of that I wanted more God in my music," he continued.

"I got to this point where I realized God doesn't want me to do anything on my own. He wants me to give it all to Him and trust Him with everything. And you know it really changed everything for me to kind of let go of everything and realize that God can take care of it," Castro reflected.

Around the same time Castro became involved with the I Am Second campaign, a popular ministry where Christian celebrities share their personal stories. He found new success with the release of his first Christian album, Only a Mountain.

Today Castro tours with some of the biggest names in Christian music such as Matthew West, Toby Mac, and The Sidewalk Prophets.

Renewed Purpose

But perhaps his greatest accomplishment is as husband and father.

"She really changed everything," Castro said of his 2-year-old daughter Madeline. "I didn't know she would change it. More than anything I want to be a part of her life and I want her to know her daddy loves her more than just a song."

This isn't a story about a young man going to Hollywood and getting lost in the glitz and glamour. Instead, Castro is using Hollywood to spread the love of God around the globe.

Castro hasn't abandoned his American Idol past. Rather, he uses the platform to give back to others.

He spends much of his time overseas working as spokesperson for the charities Malaria No More and helping with Roma Boots, a nonprofit providing boots to children in need.

"When I see these kids in need I have a deeper connection because I look at them and I see my daughter," Castro told CBN News.

"I remember on the trip there was one kid that was like the same size as my daughter and he had on a little sweatshirt, no pants," he said. "We gave him some rain boots. Now he has some shoes."

Castro recently led a benefit concert for Young Life Capernaum, a group that specializes in meeting the social, physical, and spiritual needs of young people with special needs.

And when not on tour, he's singing with his talented siblings. His brother Michael and sister Jackie have a strong following with solo careers of their own.

So is there a chance for a Castro family album? We'll have to wait and see.

As for the future Castro said," I don't know what the future holds for Jason, but there will always be music."
