Have you had a chance to see any of the blood moons that have decorated the heavens over the past year?
Blood moons are a somewhat common. What's rare is so many of them appearing so close together forming what's called a tetrad.
CBN's Erick Stakelbeck first reported on blood moons more than a year ago and his story went viral. It's been viewed more than a million times.
We wondered why Erick decided to cover blood moons andwhy he thinks so many people are interested.
Historically blood moon tetrads have coincided with major events for Israel and the Jewish people.
"I don't believe in coincidences," Erick says. "Fasten your seat belts."

2015 Presents Startling Alignment of Prophetic Events

2015 Presents Startling Alignment of Prophetic Events

This year brings amazing signs in skies and Scriptures. Blood moons, solar eclipses, Jewish festivals and a Sabbath year align in startling ways for anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear.
Springtime Holy Days
God designed the Jewish year's seven special festivals around His prophetic calendar. Best- known is Passover, announcing Spring, promising new life and harvest.
At Passover, a spotless lamb was slain to apply its blood on the door of the home and to be roasted for a festal meal, picturing Calvary: "Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us" (1 Cor. 5:7). The Jewish people celebrate exodus from slavery, and Christians find liberation from sin and death through the cross. We are redeemed by the "precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish" (1 Peter 1:19-20).
The feast of unleavened bread follows, as the observant Jewish family removes all leaven from their household and diet for seven days. Leaven symbolizes sin, spreading secretly, puffing up with pride. "Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth" (1 Cor. 5:8).
On the cross Christ forever put away our sins: "now, once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself" (Hebrews 9:27). As leaven was put out of the house, our record of sin has been forever removed. "My sin, oh the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part, but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, It is well, praise the Lord, oh my soul!"
Removing leaven calls every believer in Christ to diligently search and remove sin from his life. Christ has removed the guilt of our sins, now let us remove their reality and practice: "let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness" (2 Cor. 7:1).
Within the week comes the feast of firstfruits, the first day after the Sabbath, which foretells the resurrection of Jesus: "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept" (1 Cor. 15:20). As the Jewish worshipper came before the Lord to wave the first stalks of planting, so Jesus was the first to rise from the dead never to die again! His first fruit offering anticipates an abundant harvest, and His resurrection is the pledge of many more on that day when He returns (1 Thess. 4:16-17).
Signs in the Heavens
The Jewish festivals of 2014-2015 are bounded by four "blood moons" (total lunar eclipses, with reddish tinge). Eight times since Christ a series of four eclipses (called a tetrad) have landed on God's holy days. The current tetrad began with Passover last year, continued through the Fall Feast of Tabernacles, marks this year's Passover (April 4), and concludes on this year's Feast of Tabernacles (September 28).
Previous tetrads coincided with world events affecting Israel. In 1493-94, Jews were expelled from Spain, a pattern Europe followed. In that time, an Italian Christian of Jewish descent, Christopher Columbus, navigated back from the "New World" of America. In a few hundred years, the United States rose to be a safe haven for Jewish immigrants from all over the world.
In 1949-50, the tetrad followed Israel's official rebirth as a nation (May 1948). After two world wars, God's ancient people were allowed access to their ancient homeland. The Israeli government was installed in 1949 and regional peace treaties signed by 1950.
In 1967-68, four blood moons heralded the "Six-Day War," when Israel was attacked by Arab neighbors seeking to annihilate her. God gave a mighty deliverance that astonished the world and stunned her enemies. Israel captured additional lands and took back the ancient city of Jerusalem.
And now come the blood moons of 2014-15. The Islamic State (ISIS) marches through Syria and Iraq, seeks to take Jordan and maybe Saudi Arabia, killing Christians and some Shiite Muslims. They intend total obliteration of Israel. Terrorist groups Hezbollah, Hamas, and al-Quaedi are renewing attacks. Iran presses to gain the nuclear bomb. Once radical Islamic states and terrorists have nuclear weapons, everything destabilizes.
Elsewhere, Egypt and Turkey turn a cold shoulder to Israel. Fearful Europe has backed away from support, now accusing Israel of war crimes. The once-reliable United States has taken a long step back from helping. Dangerous days for Israel are here. We may soon witness a Mideast war unlike any recently seen. Joel prophesied and Peter proclaimed, "I will shew wonders in heaven above...the sun shall be turned into darkness [solar eclipse] and the moon into blood [lunar eclipse], before that great and notable day of the Lord come" (Acts 2:19-20).
Spring arrives this year on March 20 with a total solar eclipse, visible in Europe, North Africa, North Asia, and Iceland. A partial solar eclipse happens this September 13 to South Africa, South India, and Antarctica. That last date holds considerable interest.
Sabbath-Year Economic Reset
Those familiar with Jonathan Cahn's works—The Harbinger and The Mystery of the Shemitah—will know 2015 also marks the end of the Sabbath year, or shemittah (Hebrew "release" of debts, Deut. 15:1-3). Many of the biggest U.S. stock market corrections landed on these seven-year cycles of God's calendar, always in September or October. The last one was the largest single-day point drop of the Dow Jones index ever, October 1, 2008. Seven years prior, on September 18, 2001, the stock market steeply fell due to the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
If the Lord is judging America by toppling our false gods and idols, money would head the list. Seeing no significant signs yet of national repentance and turning back to the God of our fathers, we expect the economy may well take another big hit in 2015. The Jewish new year's eve, when debts are recalibrated, falls on September 13, as a solar eclipse darkens the southern hemisphere, and two weeks before the final blood moon of this tetrad comes on September 28.
Putting it all together, we have an incredible convergence of events beyond manipulation by man. A cycle of four blood moons over two consecutive years ... each total lunar eclipse falling upon a Jewish holy day ... with total solar eclipses between the blood moons ... landing in the Jewish seventh-year of debt release ... leading past 2015-2016 into the next Jubilee Year (when God sets captives free, restores property, and proclaims liberty in the land). Is the Lord shouting at those with ears to hear and eyes to see?

Prophetic Signs for an Anointed Year - Prophetic Insight from CHARISMA

Dawn
A new dawn is here. Are you prepared for the prophetic shifts to come? (Flickr/Chris Parmeter)

Prophetic Insight, from Charisma Media
There are no coincidences in God. Everything the Almighty does is intentional, calculated, planned and shared with His prophets. The Biblical holidays contain the mysteries of God's blessings, times and seasons. 2014 is an Ayin (seer) year of the door where opportunities are presenting themselves to those who have spiritual eyes to see the treasures that have been hidden by darkness. Acts 2:20 tells us that the windows of heaven opened at Pentecost with a mighty rushing whirlwind that came from heaven releasing a profound sound with tongues of fire that set on the heads of the 120 (Joel 2:30–31).
The Hebrew year 2015 began September 24, 2014. This year the world will encounter the whirlwind that is full of revelation, signs, wonders and miracles again. Elijah was taken into heaven riding on a whirlwind when he left a double portion of his spirit for his spiritual son Elisha. Elijah left an anointing that turns the hearts of the Fathers back to restore the hearts of disobedient, rebellious children to righteousness (Mal. 4:6, Luke 1:17).
We are living in a time when many children live under the curse of not knowing their natural fathers. Spiritual children are used to build, provide for and are constrained from leaving to fulfill their own callings to support those who are in positions of fathers rather than being trained and released to step into their own destiny and vision. The breath of the Spirit is going to blow through a heavenly door this year. The whirlwind will propel a new and proper alignment so that the 'greater works' mysteries, power, opportunities for global awakening and mass evangelism will release a revolution of life and world changing phenomena.
God is opening the double doors before His anointed people. This is what the Lord said to Cyrus, His chosen king: "I took you by your right hand to help you defeat nations, to strip other kings of their power, and to open city gates that will not be closed again. I will go in front of you and make the mountains flat. I will break the city gates of bronze and cut the iron bars on the gates. I will give you the wealth that is stored in secret places. I will give you those hidden treasures then you will know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by name. I do this for my servant, Jacob" (Is. 45:1–4).
The earth is aligning with heaven. This is demonstrated in the seven appearances of blood moon tetrads since the time of Christ's birth. Each blood moon appeared at strategic times as God released world changing effects. The sun represents Jesus the beloved Son of God. The moon represents the church reflecting the glory and light of Jesus, the true light of the world. These will be the best of times for those who see and hear to align with God's purposes. It will be the worst of times for those who do not know how to discern the changing times and seasons.
Jacob received his calling and promised inheritance through a dream. He beheld a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. The Lord Himself stood above it and said, "'I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants. Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.' Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, 'Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.' He was afraid and said, 'How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven'" (Gen. 28:12–17). We will see God manifest His glorious presence in the darkest places on earth.
Laban divined that he was blessed because of the Lord's favor on Jacob. Jacob was delivered from Laban, his father-in-law's bondage, laborious servitude and imposed poverty. An angel told Jacob in a dream to look up and see God's plan to prosper him through the outcast, despised black, spotted and speckled undesirable sheep and goats. Jacob had faithfully served and prospered Laban but there came a time when he had to separate and build his own house through the wealth God provided (Gen. 30-31). God wants to redeem the down and outcast.
We live in a time of great redemption that is leading us to eternity, abundance, salvation, deliverance and the restoration of living in our original sinless state. The Holy Spirit will manifest His presence in and through the Sons of God by restoring divine health, prosperity, signs, wonders, miracles and resurrection power.
Jesus longs to return for a glorious bride without spot or wrinkle so we are told the bride will make herself ready in blameless holiness. (Eph. 5:27–28) Jesus is not coming back for a sin sick church or a silly immature bride. Jesus will be equally yoked with a mature glorious bride who is moving in great grace and power.
"There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see THE SON OF MAN COMING IN A CLOUD with power and great glory. But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near" (Luke 21:25–28).
The King of Glory wants to manifest Himself through His mature bride. "Lift up your heads, O gates, and lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in! (Psalms 24:9) We are told to lift up our head to open the ancient gates so the King of Glory can come through us. Wisdom will accelerate the release of the "fear of the Lord," great faith, discernment, dreams, visions, prophecy and an outpouring of God's Spirit on all flesh. This will bring about the greatest end-time harvest the world has ever seen. We live in a time where our eyes and ears are blessed to see and hear what the prophets and righteous men of old desired to see and hear but were not living in the fullness of time to see and hear the 'greater works' (Matt. 13:16–17).
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven. The lunar eclipses or blood moons that are aligning themselves with the Jewish feast days are a heavenly light, sign, season or omen, a divine evidence of days and years or a beacon that foretells God's manifest presence coming through a victorious remnant. Abram looked towards the starry heavens in Gen. 15:5–6 and he believed in the Word of the Lord. It was counted unto him as righteousness.
God used the heavens when Joseph received his calling dream, the Sun (Jacob), the moon (Rachel), and the eleven stars (his brothers) bowed down to him (Gen. 37:9). God used the stars as a sign to announce the birth of Jesus as King when two planets aligned as a bright conjunction in the sky to lead the Wise men to Bethlehem. These events led to major changes in the world.
In the past, we have seen that each time the four blood moons are displayed in the heavenlies, the world changed. (April 25, 31 A.D., Passover; October 19, 31 A.D., Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles; April 14, 32 A.D., Passover; October 7, 32 A.D., the day before Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles; April 3, 33 A.D., Passover; and September 27, 33 A.D., Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles.) These blood moons are not included in the eight because the Oct. 7, 32 A.D., happened before Sukkot. There was a solar eclipse March 19, 33 A.D., weeks before the crucifixion.
Since the time of Jesus' birth there have been seven tetrads (or 4) blood moon eclipses. Seven is the number of God, spiritual perfection, purification and completeness. God rested from creating a perfect earth on the seventh day. He said the seventh day is a holy day of rest. The seventh month is for feast and festival days, and the seventh year was a Sabbath rest for the land. There are seven mysteries or secrets which include the mystery of the Kingdom, the blindness of Israel, the Church, the body of Christ, the first resurrection, the purpose of Satan, the purpose of God and the mystery of Babylon. The seven spirits of God are found in Rev. 1:4, 3:1, 4:5, and 5:6 and Is. 11:2. Each of the seven spirits of God is represented in the Menorah or burning lampstand before the throne of God.
America was discovered by Columbus during the cycle of the blood moons in 1493. Israel became a nation in 1948 and Jerusalem was back in the hands of the Jewish people in 1967.
162–163 A.D.—Great famine, plagues and persecution of Christians.
795–796 A.D.—Charlemagne's campaign ended Arabian invasion into Western Europe.
842–843 A.D.—Rome was taken by Islamic nations.
860–861 A.D.—The Christian Byzantine Empire defeated the Islamic armies in Turkey and stopped the eastern invasion of Europe.
1493–1494 A.D.—The Spanish Inquisitions, torture, theft of property and expulsion of Jews from a Catholic-dominated Spain started the decline of Spain's power.
1949–1950 A.D.—Israel was reborn as a nation, the Arab-Israeli War and the signing of the 1949 Armistice Agreement (Ezekiel 36:24, 28).
1967–1968 A.D.—Israel's Six Day War where they took back Jerusalem from its 70 A.D. capture. Israel regained control of the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, the West Bank and the Golan Heights.
2014– 2015—New release of resurrection power, signs, wonders and miracles, beginning of the messianic era, Latter Rain outpouring, transference of wealth for mass evangelism.
The Head of the New Year began September 24, 2014, on Rosh Hashanah or the Feast of Trumpets, indicating the beginning of a time of favor and a year of rest (Shemitah) coming on the earth which will end September 23, 2015, at Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, which releases debt cancellation with a celebration of Jubilee and restoration. The blood moon on Passover 2015 will begin on Friday night, April 3, the same date Jesus was crucified in 33 A.D.
We are now half way between the eighth tetrad of (4) blood moons. Eight is the Hebrew number that means to make or cover with fat, to super abound in strength, fertility and abundance. Eight means resurrection. It is above perfection and starts a new cycle or beginning of the messianic era where great blessings both physical and financially will come from the heavenly realms to impact and change the earth. Eight signifies man's ability to transcend limits of physical existence. 2015 is the eighth tetrad, new beginning of resurrection power being released and demonstrated. April 14, 2015, will be the third blood moon during Passover. September 28, 2015, during Sukkot or Feast of Tabernacles the fourth blood moon will be seen in Israel. There will also be a solar eclipse March 20, 2015, when the moon passes between the sun and earth blocking the suns light, between the second and third blood moons. New alignments and the transference of wealth in souls and riches are strategic during these seasons.
God establishes everything by a witness of two. "'Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,' says the Lord of hosts. 'But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap. He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the Lord offerings in righteousness. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years'" (Mal. 3:1–4).
"'From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,' says the Lord of hosts. 'But you say, "How shall we return?" Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, "How have we robbed You?" In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you!'" (Mal. 3:7–9)
"'Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,' says the Lord of hosts, 'if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes,' says the Lord of hosts. 'All the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,' says the Lord of hosts" (Mal. 3:10–12).
"Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name. 'They will be Mine,' says the Lord of hosts, 'on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.' So you will again distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him (Mal. 3:16–18).
"'For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff; and the day that is coming will set them ablaze,' says the Lord of hosts, 'so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall. You will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing,' says the Lord of hosts. 'Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel. Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse'" (Mal. 4:1–6).
It is time for the church to arise and shine with revelation knowledge for the true light has come. Dan. 2:20–23 says, "Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding. It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him. To You, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for You have given me wisdom and power; even now You have made known to me what we requested of You, for You have made known to us the king's matter."
Now is the time to proclaim the great things God is doing in the heavens and on the earth. "It has seemed good to me to declare the signs and wonders which the Most High God has done for me. How great are His signs and how mighty are His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and His dominion is from generation to generation" (Dan. 4:2–3).

BLOOD MOONS AND PROPHETIC CONFUSION By Avner Boskey, Israel

BLOOD MOONS AND PROPHETIC CONFUSION

By Avner Boskey, Israel
April 10, 2014

The prophetic significance of the four lunar eclipses occurring on Jewish biblical feast days in 2014-15 has become a recent focus on the internet and even a best seller on Amazon. A few voices are suggesting that the so-called ‘blood moons’ are a portent of earth-shaking prophetic significance regarding the Jewish people.

The first of these ‘tetrads’ (a grouping of four – in this case, four lunar eclipses) kicks off on the first night of Passover next week. Here are some reflections on this subject.

How many tetrads?

Though only four specific eclipses are the main focus of these discussions, there are actually hundreds of examples of these tetrads available, and nearly all of them are passed over in silence by the advocates of the current ‘blood moon’ teaching, since 99% of these do not even come close to any major events in Jewish history.

Which major events in Jewish history are marked by ‘blood moons’?

Jewish history has seen many tragedies and victories. Haman’s potential campaign of Persian genocide, the destructions of the First and Second Temples, the defeat of the Syrian Greeks by the Maccabees, Bogdan Chmelniecki’s massacres of Ukrainian Jews, the Holocaust – these were all events of great magnitude. None had blood moon authentication or warning.

The three events currently being focused on in most of the ‘blood moons’ discussion concern –

– the Jewish aspects of the Inquisition (beginning in 1478 in Spain, and 1536 in Portugal, and continuing until 1821-26) with emphasis on the exile of Spanish Jewry in 1492,

– the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948,

– the liberation of Jerusalem during the Six-Day War in 1967.

Why these three events are chosen seems clear: they are the only major Jewish events that fall somewhat close to lunar tetrads.

Are these ‘blood moons’ really connected to any major events in Jewish history?

The lunar tetrads in question actually appeared after the events described – between ten months and sixteen years later! Therefore these ‘blood moons’ were not warnings at all but, as it were, ‘prophecies after the fact.’

The advocates of the current ‘blood moons’ teaching use special pleading in arguing why a lunar eclipse in 1949 is actually connected to 1948, or why a ‘blood moon’ in 1494 is connected to 1492, etc.
This non-professional use of Jewish history reveals a lack of precision and care, as well as a sensationalist and inaccurate ‘proof-texting’ regarding the issues of prophetic fulfilment. There is much smoke but little fire here. It indicates a grievous lack of discernment among some believers.

Mystical misunderstanding concerning the biblical Jewish calendar

The only calendar given by YHVH is what is commonly called the Jewish calendar; “YHVH spoke again to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, YHVH’s appointed times which you shall proclaim as holy convocations – My appointed times are these’” (Leviticus 23:1-2). The telling of time was based on the lunar calendar (Number 29:6), and one feast (Trumpets) falls on the new moon while Passover and Tabernacles falls on or close to the full moon (“Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day. For it is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob”; Psalm 81:3-4)

So it is not surprising that a full moon might occur on a Jewish feast day. Nevertheless, the overwhelming majority of lunar eclipses do not fall on Jewish feast days and have nothing to do with significant events in Jewish history. Once one inserts these facts into the discussion, there is nearly no more need for intelligent discussion on the matter.

Are these ‘blood moons’ connected with a fulfilment of Joel’s prophecy?

The prophetic passages dealing with the moon turning to blood are Isaiah 13:9-11; 24:21-23; Ezekiel 32:1-10; Joel 2:10-12, 28-32; 3:12-17; Matthew 24:29-30; Acts 2:12-21; Revelation 6:12-16. One of these is specific to a localized judgment on Egypt, but the rest of the contexts deal with the final events on Planet Earth immediately preceding the return of Messiah Yeshua.

The context in these passages involves:

– An international time of severe judgment known as “The Day of the Lord”

– The darkening of sun, moon and stars – a simultaneous total blackout or gray-out

– The moon turning as red as blood

– A full multinational anti-Jewish military invasion of Israel

– Worldwide earthquakes of unprecedented magnitude

Next week’s miniscule pinkish-orange discoloration of the moon falls way short of the stunning biblical context described in these scriptural texts.

Is this truly a sign to Israel if the ‘blood moons’ are not visible in Israel?

According to NASA the lunar tetrads will not be visible over the skies of Jerusalem. So how then could these possibly be a sign to Israel?

One wag once said, “A specialist is someone fifty miles away from home.”

A fly in the ointment

One of the individuals associated with the ‘blood moon’ theory has had many of his teachings recorded and broadcast on public media. For some years he has denied that Yeshua ever claimed to be the Messiah; therefore the Jewish leadership of Yeshua’s day never rejected His Messiahship (he claimed). He also is on public record as stating that the Jewish people already have a covenant with God, and therefore do not need to accept the Messiah that Christians preach.

“Dead flies make a perfumer’s oil stink. So a little foolishness is weightier than wisdom and honor.” (Ecclesiastes 10:1)

Biblical perspectives on the moon

The Scriptures have some helpful things to say about heavenly signs and even about the moon,

“Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth;’ and it was so. God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day” (Genesis 1:14-19).

“He made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down” (Psalm 104:19).

God’s sovereign creative power and order is seen in the created heavens: “Yours is the day, Yours also is the night; You have prepared the light and the sun. You have established all the boundaries of the earth. You have made summer and winter.” (Psalm 74:16-17).

The existence and procession of the moon through the skies is a spiritual sign that the nations recognize: “They who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs. You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy” (Psalm 65:8).

The phases of the moon are a nearly incredible expression of His power and glory: “He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds over it … How faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?” (Job 26:9-14).

The constancy of rhythm of the moon is seen as a prophetic reflection of God’s covenant faithfulness to David and to his dynasty: “I will not take My love from him, nor will I ever betray My faithfulness. I will not violate My covenant or alter what My lips have uttered. Once for all, I have sworn by My holiness – and I will not lie to David – that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun. It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky” (Psalm 89:33-37).

The moon is not only a stopwatch marking out God’s time and His order; it is the basis of the biblical calendar and an expression of God’s majesty. It is a sign in the heavens that causes us all to wonder.

Some in the world are wondering about what the ‘blood moons’ may mean this Passover. They do not mean a fulfilment of Joel, nor do they specifically portend powerful eschatological events concerning the Jewish people. About those the Bible already has a huge amount to say.

Finger-pointing and prophecy

An ancient Chinese sage once spoke a parable concerning the dynamics of apprehending truth. He noted that when someone points at an object with his finger, people tend to focus on the finger before they focus on the object in question. Some even develop an obsessive focus on the finger and do not benefit from learning what the finger itself is pointing at.

In the same way, unbalanced emphasis on the ‘blood moon’ teaching could end up skewing important biblical focuses – for instance, the amazing process of restoration of Israel to their Promised Land and their Messiah; the rising violent opposition of the nations to the Jewish people, their restoration and their God; the final harvest of the nations; the coming judgment of God and the return of David’s Greater Son the King of the Jews.

As we enter into the Passover season, let any fears we may have about cataclysmic blood moons subside, and let us wait on God for Him to reveal His mighty hand and outstretched forearm – even as did Moses and the Sons of Israel on the shores of the Red Sea,

Love For His People Editor's Note: There have been many articles, books and TV interviews, from several sources, on the "blood moons" events over the past year. I personally appreciate all the attention given to the signs in the heavens, for they will come, as Jesus prophesied in Luke 21:25, "There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves" NASB

Whichever position you believe, the main thing is that you are looking to Jesus, the Savior, for He is the One who must have our attention in these last days. We must trust in His prophetic words and Holy Spirit's guidance into all truth, as the days get closer to His return.

Keep looking up, with your eyes fixed on Him, Yeshua HaMashiach, the Messiah, the Author and Finisher of our faith. He is coming back soon, as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Be ready.
