What Is In a Name ✡ "Choose Jerusalem Again"

And the LORD shall inherit Judah as His portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again

ZECHARIAH (2:16)

וְנָחַל יְ-הוָה אֶת יְהוּדָה חֶלְקוֹ עַל אַדְמַת הַקֹּדֶשׁ וּבָחַר עוֹד בִּירוּשָׁלִָם

זכריה ב:טז

Jerusalem Inspiration

There are many explanations of the meaning of the Hebrew name for Jerusalem, 'Yerushalayim.' According to Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, Yerushalayim comes from the words ‘Yirah Shalem.’ 'Yirah' is the Hebrew word for awe, and 'shalem' means complete. 'Yerushalayim,' therefore, means complete, self-effacing awe; completely submitting oneself to the Lord. The holy city is so special and beloved to man because God loves it so much. This is also how we relate to the entire Land of Israel. We love it because God loves it! Find out the meaning behind your own Hebrew name with a personalized Hebrew name certificate.

Israeli Ranchers Defend their Land

Yoel Zilberman, 30, was determined not to give up his father's piece of the Holy Land to thieves and encroachers, and together with his IDF buddies, began to guard his father's ranch. The idea spread like wildfire to help desperate Israeli ranchers.

Personalized Hebrew Name Certificate

According to Jewish tradition, one's name has a deep spiritual dimension, as the chosen name determines a person's character throughout life. We will personally research and prepare a special Hebrew Name Certificate for you to better understand the biblical origins of your name.

Get a Booklet on the Truth of Judea Samaria ✡ "Tombstone of Rachel"

And Rachel died, and she was buried on the road to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem. And Jacob erected a monument on her grave; that is the tombstone of Rachel until this day.

Today's Israel Inspiration

The Bible clearly tells us that the holy resting place of Rachel our matriarch is in the city of Bethlehem, which is the Land of Judah. This region is referred to by the media as the West Bank, implying the “west bank of the Jordan river” which cleverly undermines the Jewish connection to the area. For this reason, when Menachem Begin became prime minister, he insisted that journalists refer to it by its Biblical name, Judea and Samaria. Learn more about the real story of the Land of Israel with an informative 30 page softcover book filled with charts, pictures and facts telling the vital truth about Israel.

Yesterday's Photo Trivia

Yesterday's photo by Grace and Rick Knelsen featured the Roman ruins in Caesarea, a city on the Mediterranean that Herod dedicated to Caesar Augustus more than 2,000 years ago. Today it is not only a relic of the past, but a popular tourist attraction.

The captains of Judah will say in their hearts, 'The inhabitants of Jerusalem are a source of strength for me.'

Today's Israel Inspiration

For over 2,000 years of exile, Jerusalem was ruled by foreigners, awaiting the return of her people. Just 47 years ago the Jewish people finally returned. Every year since then, Israel marks the anniversary of the city's liberation during the Six Day War as "Jerusalem Day." Jerusalem's holy sites have been opened for all faiths to worship in freedom ever since. Stand with the defenders of freedom in the Holy City and support the LIBI Fund, the official fund of the IDF, providing medical, social and educational services to the soldiers.
