Cindy Jacobs Prophesies: The Tables Have Turned

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

On Jan. 22, 1973, in the court decision Roe vs. Wade, the preborn child in the womb was stripped of personhood status. No longer did the majority of the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, consider these little ones babies; rather, they became fetuses.
From that time, at least 53,000,000 babies have been aborted. Interesting how just changing a name can somehow sear the conscious of a nation.
Thousands of culture and prayer warriors have battled since that time to see this decision overturned. In fact, around 85 percent of evangelicals went to the ballot box on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, and voted their pro-life conscience. Many of them vote, not as much for the candidate, but to see the makeup of the court turn from one of death to life. I am one of those.
In 2003, I sat and spoke with Lou Engle, founder of The Call, and gave him a word about going to the Supreme Court to pray on a regular basis for the ending of abortion. Lou took up that challenge and Matt Lockett even took on the burden of what is now Bound4Life. You may have seen the pictures of them standing in front of the Supreme Court with red Life Tape on their mouths in a silent siege for the overturn of Roe vs. Wade. Whether it is raining, snowing, hot or cold, they are there. There are times that Matt has stood there alone, sieging heaven.
While Matt was visiting Dallas, Texas, I prophesied over him that God was preparing a champion for the courts. From that time, those he prays with have been contending for the next Supreme Court justice who would be the champion.
As they looked over the list of potential nominees, they found to their surprise that one, Neil Gorsuch's first name actually means champion!  They felt they had their nominee and began to storm heaven on his behalf.
It could be that the tables turned on abortion with the swearing-in of Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch on April 10, 2017. Anyone who is a student of the Scripture quickly comes to realize that numbers and dates are significant to the Lord. Gorsuch was sworn in as an associate justice on a significant date: the first day of Passover. When I heard the date, I realized how important that date was for the nation. On Passover, the death angel passed over the houses of the children of God who put the blood of the Lamb on their lintels. It could be that the angel of death has now passed over the womb of America and the court of heaven has ruled in favor of the preborn child and justice will be served.
After his swearing in onto the bench, I was awakened several nights ago with the Voice of the Lord saying to me, "Pray for the second!" I knew what He meant. There is going to come a second seat and second appointment needed for the courts soon.
Let's not stop praying until this present genocide of a generation of preborn children is halted, and the womb becomes a safe place for the babies of this nation once again.

Gorsuch Will Not Shift The Balance Of Power On The Supreme Court As Much As You May Think - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Neil Gorsuch And Donald Trump - Public Domain

Posted: 01 Feb 2017   Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

On Tuesday, President Trump announced that he would nominate Neil Gorsuch to fill the open seat on the U.S. Supreme Court.  Gorsuch currently serves on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, and he was confirmed unanimously by the Senate when he was appointed to that position by President George W. Bush in 2006.

Gorsuch appears to have some strong similarities to Antonin Scalia, and many conservatives are hoping that when Gorsuch fills Scalia’s seat that it will represent a shift in the balance of power on the Supreme Court.  Because for almost a year, the court has been operating with only eight justices.  Four of them were nominated by Republican presidents and four of them were nominated by Democrats, and so many Republicans are anticipating that there will now be a Supreme Court majority for conservatives.

Unfortunately, things are not that simple, because a couple of the “conservative” justices are not actually very conservative at all.

For example, it is important to remember that Scalia was still on the court when the Supreme Court decision that forced all 50 states to legalize gay marriage was decided.  Justice Anthony Kennedy joined the four liberal justices in a majority opinion that Scalia harshly criticized.  So with Gorsuch on the court, that case would still have been decided the exact same way.

Sadly, even though Kennedy was nominated by Ronald Reagan, he has turned out to be quite liberal.  In the past, not nearly enough scrutiny was given to justices that were nominated by Republican presidents, and a few of them have turned out to be total disasters.

And let us also remember that Scalia was still on the court when the big Obamacare case was decided.  Chief Justice John Roberts joined the four liberal justices in a decision that was perhaps one of the most bizarre in the modern history of the U.S. Supreme Court.

For some reason, Justice Roberts was determined to preserve Obamacare, and if you read what he wrote it is some of the most twisted legal reasoning that I have ever come across.
As someone that was once part of the legal world, let me let you in on a little secret.  Most judges simply do whatever they feel like doing, and then they will try to find a way to justify their decisions.  So if you ever find yourself in court, you should pray that you will get a judge that is sympathetic to your cause.

Fortunately, Gorsuch appears to be one of the rare breed of judges that actually cares what the U.S. Constitution and our laws have to say.  In that respect, he is very much like Scalia
Gorsuch is seen by analysts as a jurist similar to Scalia, who died on Feb. 13, 2016. Scalia, praised by Gorsuch as “a lion of the law,” was known not only for his hard-line conservatism but for interpreting the U.S. Constitution based on what he considered its original meaning, and laws as written by legislators. Like Scalia, Gorsuch is known for sharp writing skills.
“It is the role of judges to apply, not alter, the work of the people’s representatives,” Gorsuch said on Tuesday at the White House event announcing the nomination in remarks that echoed Scalia’s views.
One of the most high profile cases that Gorsuch was involved with came in 2013.  That was the famous “Hobby Lobby case”, and it represented a key turning point in the fight for religious freedom.  The following comes from CNN
In 2013, he joined in an opinion by the full Court of Appeals holding that federal law prohibited the Department of Health and Human Services from requiring closely-held, for-profit secular corporations to provide contraceptive coverage as part of their employer-sponsored health insurance plans.
And although a narrowly divided 5-4 Supreme Court would endorse that view (and affirm the 10th Circuit) the following year, Gorsuch wrote that he would have gone even further, and allowed not just the corporations, but the individual owners, to challenge the mandate.
Donald Trump said that he wanted a conservative judge in the mold of Scalia, but I think that he was also looking for someone that he could get through the Senate.

And considering the fact that Gorsuch was confirmed unanimously by the Senate in 2006 will make it quite difficult for Democrats to block him now.  Gorsuch has tremendous academic and professional credentials, and he will probably have a smoother road to confirmation than someone like appeals court judge William Pryor would
Trump may have favored Gorsuch for the job in hopes of a smoother confirmation process than for other potential candidates such as appeals court judge William Pryor, who has called the 1973 Supreme Court ruling legalizing abortion “the worst abomination of constitutional law in our history.”
But Pryor is still reportedly on the short list for the next spot on the Supreme Court that opens up, and by then the rancor in the Senate may have died down.

If Gorsuch is confirmed, what will this mean for some of the most important moral issues of our time?

As for abortion, even if Gorsuch is confirmed I do not believe that the votes are there to overturn Roe v. Wade.  But if Trump is able to nominate a couple more Supreme Court justices that could change.

But even if Roe v. Wade is overturned, it would not suddenly make abortion illegal.  Instead, all 50 states would then be free to make their own laws regarding abortion, and a solid majority of the states would continue to keep it legal.

The analysis is similar when we look at gay marriage.  If the Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage in all 50 states was overturned, each state would get to decide whether gay marriage should be legal or not for their own citizens.  And just like with abortion, it is likely that only a limited number of states would end up banning gay marriage.

So the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court appears to be a positive step, but it does not mean that we are going to see dramatic change when it comes to issues such as abortion or gay marriage any time soon.

But at least Gorsuch can help stop the relentless march of the progressive agenda through our court system.  So in the end we may not make that much progress for right now, but at least the liberals won’t either.

Pro-Life, Christian Leaders React to Trump Supreme Court Nominee Neil Gorsuch
CBN News 02-01-2017
President Donald Trump named Judge Neil Gorsuch as his nominee for the Supreme Court of the United States. Justice Antonin Scalia died last February leaving eight justices on the court.
Gorsuch currently serves on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. He has the backing of pro-life and conservative groups.
"He is the man our country needs to make sure the rule of law and the rule of justice are followed," Trump stated.
"I pledge if I am confirmed... to uphold the laws of the Constitution of the United States," Gorsuch said.
Trump recognized the importance of the decision he made saying, "After defense of the nation, appointing a justice is the most important decision a president makes."
REACTION
“We’re very encouraged by President Trump's nominee to fill the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat on the Supreme Court,” said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice, who has appeared before the Supreme Court in numerous cases.  “Judge Gorsuch is a remarkably qualified nominee with a conservative judicial philosophy and a commitment to uphold the rule of law and the Constitution. He is decidedly pro-life and understands what it means to protect the constitutional freedoms afforded to all Americans."
“I applaud President Trump for nominating a fair-minded Constitutionalist like Judge Gorsuch to serve on our highest court. With this selection, President Trump has chosen a respected jurist who will uphold both the spirit and the letter of our law," Congressman Diane Black, R-Tenn. said, "I am especially encouraged by Judge Gorsuch’s opinions in the cases of Hobby Lobby vs. Sebelius and Little Sisters of the Poor vs. Burwell, which display a clear respect for religious freedom that has been missing in too many corners of Washington over the last eight years."
"All too often, our efforts to protect unborn children and other vulnerable humans have been overridden by judges who believe they have a right to impose their own policy preferences," said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life.  "We are heartened that Judge Gorsuch appears to share Justice Scalia's view that federal judges are constrained to enforce the text and original intent of constitutional provisions, and on all other matters should defer to democratically elected lawmakers."
“President Trump has not only fulfilled his most important promise to the evangelical community in this selection he has gone over and above by repeatedly doubling down on those issues most important to the community during his first ten days as president.  His endorsement of and the administration’s participation in the March for Life coupled with his prompt attention to the Mexico City Ruling were a precursors to tonight’s very good news. Should this nominee be confirmed, Scalia’s legacy will live on for at least another generation. Evangelicals are ecstatic, said Johnnie Moore, Evangelical Author and Humanitarian.
“I want to congratulate Judge Neil Gorsuch on his nomination to the Supreme Court in the spirit of Justice Antonin Scalia. Serving in the Highest Court of the Land is not only one of the highest honors in our country’s government, but also one of its most important responsibilities. As such, my prayers are wholeheartedly for Judge Gorsuch. May he, if confirmed, lead a long and successful career as a Supreme Court Justice, upholding our Constitution with firmness and righteousness," said Dr. Ronnie Floyd, Past President of the Southern Baptist Convention.
“For many Evangelicals, Trump’s campaign promise to appoint a Supreme Court Justice in the mold of Antonin Scalia — an originalist who would uphold the Constitution — was the single most important issue facing the American people this past election. I am greatly encouraged by the nomination of Judge Gorsuch as he represents a clear and definitive fulfillment of President Trump’s promise," said Dr. David Jeremiah, Pastor and host of the well-known Turning Point radio program.
“I pray for our leaders that they would have the wisdom and the political courage to swiftly confirm Judge Gorsuch to the highest court in the land. I thank God that President Trump and Vice President Pence have selected a judge who will carry on the legacy of the late Justice Antonin Scalia," Jeremiah also said.
“Judge Gorsuch will have big shoes to fill in replacing the late and revered Justice Antonin Scalia.  As Jefferson so eloquently reminded us, the God who gave us life gave us liberty, so I pray Judge Gorsuch never forgets to value each and every American as our Maker does," Greg Laurie, Evangelist and author, said.
“To that end, should he be confirmed, I would urge Judge Gorsuch to speak up for the rights of all those who are oppressed and marginalized, including the lives of the unborn.  May he and his colleagues also be faithful voices for the fundamental right to the free exercise of religion, as we have seen such privileges become threatened by judicial overreach. With the immense power bestowed upon the Supreme Court, may our judges ensure that America will remain a beacon of hope in a world where so many are robbed of the freedom and dignity they deserve," Laurie also said.
“As our nation’s political divide has seemed more like a chasm in recent weeks, I urge our politicians on both sides of the aisle to give an honest confirmation hearing to President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Neil Gorsuch. It has long been the case that presidents are given deferential treatment when it comes to their nominees for Cabinet positions and for the Supreme Court. The recent trend of blocking such nominees by both Republicans and Democrats must stop. Their political games are not in the best interest of the security and prosperity of the United States, said Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference.
“I pray for our political leaders that they would have wisdom and political courage to act fairly and to do right by the American people. I pray also for Judge Gorsuch, that, should he ultimately be confirmed, he would be a blessing to this country, upholding the Constitution of the United States with virtue and justice for all. “I commend President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence for selecting a judge with such a commendable track record on issues important to the Evangelical community," Rodriguez concluded.
“I was thrilled to hear that Judge Gorsuch has been nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court. He has already led an impressive career as a champion of the originalist interpretation of the Constitution. In an era of justices legislating from the bench and attempting to re-shape our basic laws and rights, I hope and pray that Judge Gorsuch will rule in a fashion that applies our Constitution and the Bill of Rights as our founders intended," Dr. Michael D. Evans, award-winning journalist, commentator, minister, and head of several prominent international non-profit organizations in the U.S., Netherlands, and Israel, "In the coming months, many pressing issues will be left in the hands of our country’s Supreme Court Justices, and this nomination gives me great peace of mind.”

Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog: Who will it be? One of the most consequential decisions of the Trump presidency...

scotus

New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

Who will it be? One of the most consequential decisions of the Trump presidency will be announced Thursday. Here’s the latest on the “short list” for the Supreme Court. Let us pray without ceasing.

by joelcrosenberg
President Trump will announce on Thursday his choice to replace the late-Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. Trump may choose the venue of the National Prayer Breakfast, to be held at the Washington Hilton that morning. That would be fitting. This will be an enormous political and spiritual battle, and we need to be on our knees in prayer.
Make no mistake: choosing the next Supreme Court Justice will be one of the most consequential decisions of the Trump presidency. It will also be a critical test of how serious he is in keeping his promises to conservatives and Evangelicals to appoint solid, experienced, pro-life, pro-freedom, Constitutional conservatives to the High Court.
Let us pray without ceasing for the President to have the wisdom to make the right choice. Let's be praying, too, for the Senate to have the wisdom to confirm that person quickly.
Rumor has it there are now just three names on the President's short list -- Neil Gorsuch, Thomas Hardiman and William Pryor, each of whom are federal Appeals Court judges, and all under the age of 55. Some say Gorsuch is the favorite, and Pryor's chances are fading.
A very conservative source I have who is close to the selection process tells me the list is down to just Gorsuch and Hardiman and says "both would be excellent" choices.
Here are brief but useful profiles of each of the three, via SCOTUSblog:
