The Jewish "Indiana Jones" ✡ "You Shall Place in the Ark"

You shall place in the Ark the Testimonial-tablets that I shall give you.

Shabbat Inspiration

This week's Torah portion (Exodus 25-27:19) describes the glorious Ark of the Covenant into which the two tablets from Sinai would be placed. In Hebrew, the name of the Ark/אָרון comes from the word "light"/אורה for it contained the spiritual light of the world. The Ark disappeared after the First Temple's destruction, and many believe it is in a secret chamber built deep underground by King Solomon, who foresaw the destruction and sought to protect the Ark for future generations. Learn more in the Israel Bible: the Five Books of Moses, with full Hebrew and English text and inspiring commentary.

The Israel Bible Boxed Set

This boxed set collects the Five Books of Moses: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. In Jewish tradition, these first five books differ from the rest of the Bible in that they were dictated by God on Mount Sinai, and therefore are considered to have a special status within the holy books.

Ron Wyatt was in Jerusalem in 1978, after having been diving at the Red Sea inspecting a possible site of the crossing by Moses at the Gulf of Aqaba, and was preparing to return to the states, when he was approached by a member of the Israeli Antiquities Authority who invited him to take a walk in the Garden Tomb grounds.
While walking through this area, his arm pointed to a pile of trash next to an escarpment and these words came out of his mouth, "There is Jeremiah's Grotto and the Ark of the Covenant is in there."
He hadn't even thought of those words, but they came out through God's direction. The official with Mr. Wyatt said that was wonderful to hear, and he would give Ron a place to stay, and food to eat while working on the site.
This was puzzling to Ron because he had not even thought about the Ark, and yet God spoke through him with those words.
First, Ron had to return to the states and begin research on the idea of the Ark even being in that location.
Over the next three and a half years he worked at the site, and on January 6, 1982, Ron entered the chamber that contained the Ark of the Covenant.

Ark of the Covenant - Lost or Hidden?

If the ark did exist, where is it now? A group of rabbis claim they found it in a 1981 excavation. But when will they ease open the lid and what waits inside?

If anyone out there has converted the book (written by William Stanley Moss entitled "Gold is where you hide it: What happened to the Reichsbank treasure" and published by Andre Deutsch, London, 1956) into an e-book, please post it to me.

Reconstruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem

This seven minute video is a great overview of the planning going on today for the reconstruction of the Holy Temple (HaBay'eet or The House in Hebrew) in Jerusalem.  As you can see, most of the furniture and accouterments of the Temple (the golden menorrah; the table of showbread, the arc of the covenant, the priestly garments, etc.) have already been completed.

What I find particularly fascinating is that both Jews and Christians have an increased sense that the coming of Mashiach (Messiah) is near.  I don't think this is a random coincidence.  The Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) is speaking to His people, Jew and Gentile alike) that His appearing will be soon; or as the Jewish people say, "speedily, and in our day".

    Shalom,
    ~Bill Duerfeldt
