He Gives Us Signs - Steve Martin, Love For His People Ministry

A truck, heading north on I-77 from Rock Hill, SC, to Charlotte, NC.

He Gives Us Signs

“So, Gideon said to Him, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who speak with me.” Judges 6:17, NASB

An excellent Bible teacher by the name of Bob Mumford, whom I first heard of during the “discipleship, shepherding, and commitment days” (for me, those were the years 1977-1994), had a book entitled Take Another Look at Guidance. A worthwhile read for those seeking to understand how our heavenly Father guides us in His ways and purposes for our individual lives. I have based many decisions on Mumford’s recommendations.

If you are not so inclined to check it out (but I highly recommend that you do), I will help you.

From Bible.org:

Bob Mumford in Take Another Look at Guidance, compares discovering God’s will with a sea captain’s docking procedure: A certain harbor in Italy can be reached only by sailing up a narrow channel between dangerous rocks and shoals. Over the years, many ships have been wrecked, and navigation is hazardous. To guide the ships safely into port, three lights have been mounted on three huge poles in the harbor. When the three lights are perfectly lined up and seen as one, the ship can safely proceed up the narrow channel. If the pilot sees two or three lights, he knows he’s off course and in danger.

three lights are perfectly lined up and seen as one, the ship can safely proceed up the narrow channel. If the pilot sees two or three lights, he knows he’s off course and in danger.

God has also provided three beacons to guide us. The same rules of navigation apply—the three lights must be lined up before it is safe for us to proceed. The three harbor lights of guidance are:

1. The Word of God (objective standard)

2. The Holy Spirit (subjective witness)

3. Circumstances (divine providence)

Together, they assure us that the directions we’ve received are from God and will lead us safely along his way.

- Gregory Asimakoupoulos

Bob Mumford, Take Another Look at Guidance.

Again, the three harbors’ lights are: the Word, the Holy Spirit, and circumstances.

All throughout Scripture, from Adam to Moses to Gideon to Mary to those gathered in the Upper Room on Pentecost (on the Lord’s feast known as Shavuot), the Lord gave His people signs.

Being He knows all, He certainly knows that sometimes things are not so apparent as He would hope they would be for us.

I encourage you to seek the Lord in your daily decisions, to learn how He speaks, what He speaks, and when He speaks, so you too can more fully know of His plans and purposes for you.

Do not be like those who missed the Messiah Yeshua HaMashiach, when He came the first time. Even though they looked for signs, they failed to see the One who was right before their eyes.

“But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him.” John 12:37, NASB

And then again in Hebrews 2:3-4, Complete Jewish Bible, it reads: “…then how will we escape if we ignore such a great deliverance? This deliverance, which was first declared by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him; while God also bore witness to it with various signs, wonders and miracles, and with gifts of the Ruach HaKodesh which he distributed as he chose.”

Be one who follows, even chases, after the Lord, to better know Him. There is so much that He wants to show you of Himself and how much He wants to give you guidance.

 Ahava and Shalom,

Steve Martin

P.S. I saw a “sign” on Friday, June 13, 2025, as a good friend and I were driving north on I-77 from Rock Hill, SC, to Charlotte, NC. And so, I took the photo to share with others.

Aim for the Target - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Aim for the Target

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim;” (1 Corinthians 9:26, NASU)

Aiming to hit the mark is the purpose of anyone seeking to put the arrow where it will count the most. Setting our purpose on the Lord’s will is just as important – wanting to get it right on the bull’s eye in order to make the most of His plan for us. Sometimes we get it right on. Sometimes not.

Though He knows the road ahead of us it falls on us to make the intentional purpose to know it for ourselves. Whether you are 20 or 60, we won’t know for ourselves unless we use the mapping equipment He gives us. These tools are available to us so we can walk down the right road, and be in the center of His plan.

Over the years I have watched how others seek the Lord; what they have taught in their pursuit of Him and how they have discerned His plan for them. Though the goal is not the exact same for everyone, for each has his place to fulfill, the ways given to reach that goal are so. We can reach the target. We can walk in His way.

When seeking the Lord for direction, the tools given to us include knowing His Word, the Bible, hearing His voice through prayer, and hearing the instructions taught by others. Receiving a prophetic word and understanding circumstances are also part of the mix. The Lord wants us to know His will for us. He makes all these avenues available to those who want to know it.

In His Word, accurately passed down through the centuries, He has provided examples of His working in the lives of those who have gone before us.

“Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.” (1 Corinthians 10:11-12, NASU) Common to all through the lives of these were the temptations, trials, and opportunities to see the Lord move, even as they are in our lives. We can learn from them. Reading His Word on a regular basis enables us to understand more because of them. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel.

Prayer, communicating with the Lord, gives us the opportunity to speak our heart to Him on matters, and in return hear His heart on these concerns. With His Holy Spirit as our Comforter and Guide, impressions received and obvious responses to our prayers show us He is acting on our behalf. Seeing His hand in daily input encourages us to seek Him often and with thanksgiving in our asking and acknowledging.

Being with other believers, receiving wisdom and encouragement from them in matters we need clarity on, certainly helps guide our steps. Input given through them through teaching, either from their own experiences or having gained insight through the teaching of others, is a vital asset in knowing the Lord’s will for our lives. Someone who has walked the path further and longer carries with them insight that others don’t have as yet. Accepting their life’s wisdom helps us to avoid pitfalls, and get closer to our destination in safety and fulfillment.

“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” (Proverbs 11:14, NKJV)

Being a strong believer in personal, prophetic words as another form of God’s guidance, I have received words spoken into my life which either prepared me for the years ahead, or encouraged me in the midst of trials and fog when I needed a sure word from the Lord. Receiving these words has allowed me to use all aspects of the Holy Spirit’s methods of showing me the way, whether it be through another with the prophetic gift, by a dream, or given through a supernatural act that didn’t “just happen”, but was a sign giving instruction to me. I consider any and all ways of the Lord’s voice coming my way to be received and discerned for its full purpose. He freely gives these to all who are open to receive them.

The Lord wants us to know which way to go and how to get there. Practicing in a consistent way the methods He has given us will make us more certain when He speaks and how to respond to His leading. We must know Him to know His ways and walk in them. Then we can be confident of the direction we are heading.

Our faith will be strengthened and encouraged in our pursuit of Him, as we continue to aim for the target. He will show us the way to go.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

We really enjoy reading Kathie Walters' testimonies and God-stories when she sends us her articles...and I know our readers do too! Kathie's ministry is all about showing us that the supernatural realm is for everyone in our everyday lives.
Her article today is about us walking by faith in what God has called us to do as she shares:
Everything we receive from God we receive by faith only, there is nothing we can do to earn it, so you have to make a decision that you can hear because Jesus said you could hear... All His provision is in His purpose. So let your faith work in hearing from God.
If you've noticed, we have posted words about faith, vision and provision going hand-in-hand.
Folks, it's a new season to step out in FAITH!

Receive in Faith
I have so many emails from people who are confused about the "direction" God wants them to take. Not sure whether to move, or where to? Or what is next in their life? House hard to sell?
Well, let me tell you, you don't have to do trial and error. Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice." We need to sit still and listen. But sit still in faith, believing YOU CAN HEAR.
Everything we receive from God we receive by faith only, there is nothing we can do to earn it, so you have to make a decision that you can hear because Jesus said you could hear.
And what He says, you have to get in your spirit, not just in your head.
The Holy Spirit is a Spirit of faith, and it needs to be the Holy Spirit who is operating, as His faith is supernatural. It's not the natural faith that moves mountains – it's the faith that God gave to us by His Spirit. He has already given it to you when you got born again and to every man and woman is given "the measure of faith."
One time, we were confused about what God had for us. We had many words given to us, but some of them caused even more confusion. It felt like I was pushing doors that just wouldn't open. Then I had a dream, and in the dream I was sitting down on the floor in the middle of a very dark room. I couldn't see anything at all, and for sure I couldn't see where the door was. But I waited in faith, believing God would show me. After a short while, a light shone on a door and it was so easy then. I just got up and walked to the door, opened it and went out.
The Word of the Lord Releases Faith
"Let your faith work in hearing from God."
If the Lord gives us a word, like when we left Orlando, it will release faith. We had a church in Orlando, and we were enjoying Orlando. We had been there about ten years, and as I was driving one day, the Lord said to me, "It's time to leave this place and wipe off the dust from your feet." I was shocked! By the way, "Wiping the dust from your feet" means that you put things right as much as you can with people you've had disagreements with.
I told David and we asked the Lord to confirm it from outside (someone that didn't know of the situation). I thought of a friend in England who I knew heard from God very clearly. I asked the Lord to get Harry Greenwood to call me. And I said, "Harry has to say the same thing to me as You."
A few days later, I remembered what I said and reminded the Lord that He needed to have Harry call me. About five minutes later the phone rang and I answered. It was Harry. "Harry Greenwood here, what's going on?"
"Harry," I said, "Where are you?"
"I don't know," he said, "some restaurant in Arizona."
Harry never called people, as he had a wife, a secretary and an assistant who always called for him.
"Well," I said (I didn't want to tell him anything of course), we're having a good time."
"It's time for you to leave that place and wipe off the dust from your feet, OK," Harry said. He prayed a prayer and put down the phone. He prayed for some divine connections. (Photo via deviantart)
When that word came, it released God's faith (not our natural faith). Now we had to move on.
"OK God," I said. "You will have to tell us how to sell the house."
Selling and Moving On
Where we lived, the area was overbuilt and the builders were getting people houses at very low-interest rates loans, so our house was hard to sell.
The next day the Holy Spirit said to me, "Take $200 and go to Home Depot. Buy $200 dollars worth of brightly colored flowers and put them in the front yard and put out a 'for sale by owner' sign."
I did all that and put the flowers in the front yard, etc. with the, "for sale by owner" sign. A couple of weeks later, I was sitting, reading my Bible, and the Lord spoke to me, "The man who is going to buy the house is coming today."
So I got up and tidied the house. About 10 am, the phone rang. It was a lady who said, "We saw your sign. Can we come and see the house this morning?" I said "OK," and we made an appointment.
This couple came and looked at the house. The lady said to me, "Actually, we weren't looking in this area really, but every time we drove by, I noticed those flowers. I love flowers."
ElijahList Prophetic Resources
So the flowers were just an "attention getter". God told David what price to ask for the house. The couple said they liked the house, but they had an appointment in South Florida to look at a house near a golf course. They said it was a very good deal, so they wanted to check it out. They went off to South Florida.
Two days later as I woke, up, I had a vision of the man and he stumbled and almost fell over. I prayed in the spirit. Later that day, I had another vision of his limo pulling up to our house. He got out of the limo with his shirt over his arm. This was very unusual, as he was very immaculate. Suit and tie, even when it was 100 degrees.
Two days later in the afternoon, in the middle of my daughter's birthday party, the limo drove up and the man got out of the limo with his shirt over his arm, just as I saw in my vision. He explained that the air conditioning in the limo had broken and wasn't working.
"Everything we receive from God we receive by faith only."
They came in and sat down. "We decided to buy the house," he said, "but a very strange thing happened to me down in South Florida."
He was looking at us very strangely, and a bit scared. "What happened?" I asked.
"The place we went to see offered us such a good deal on some property. I was sitting down with the pen in my hand to sign the contract, and suddenly my hand froze and I couldn't move it, so I dropped the pen and left, and here I am."
Well, there was a lot more supernatural things that happened during this sale. He asked us where we were moving to and we told him that God hadn't told us yet. He let us rent the house for $800 a month until God showed us where He wanted us to go.
The man told us in the end that when he was a young man, his three-year-old daughter was dying of Leukemia in the hospital. He knelt by the bed and said to God, "If You heal my daughter, I'll serve You."
The next day his little girl left the hospital completely healed, but he never did keep his end of the bargain. When he met us and he saw God was so involved in our lives, God challenged him again about his word. I don't know what he did because we moved on.
To make a long story short, all of our moves have been like this.
Are You Open?
The point is that you can't move God with your natural faith, but He can release HIS FAITH and move you in His purposes.
Maybe you need to get a word from the Lord to confirm what He wants for you where you are, doing what you are doing. All His provision is in His purpose. So let your faith work in hearing from God. You can't move the Rock, but the Rock can move you.
Sometimes you have to let things go, so they don't have you. God doesn't mind what you have, as long as it doesn't have you and HE HAS YOU. (Photo via Pixabay)
If He wants you to live in England, are you open? If He wants you to live in Kenya, are you open? It's yielding to His purposes and to His Spirit. He moves you; you don't move God. His faith is released for His purposes. His anointing is also released in His purposes. His anointing comes by yielding, not by trying. Trying and striving will take you out of the Holy Spirit realm.
Enjoy the journey.

Ride the Wind: A Prophetic Word About the Holy Spirit's Direction - JENNIFER LECLAIRE CHARISMA NEWS

Holy Spirit said something very distinct: "Ride the wind!"

Ride the Wind: A Prophetic Word About the Holy Spirit's Direction

JENNIFER LECLAIRE  CHARISMA NEWS
Watchman on the Wall, by Jennifer LeClaire
Jennifer LeClaire is now sharing her reflections and revelations through Walking in the Spirit. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

I was in prayer, seeking the Lord about the season we're entering into, and He said something very distinct: Ride the wind!
I've learned we need to discern what the Holy Spirit is blowing on and go with that flow. When you discern the grace of God on something, you have to tap into that vein until the wind shifts.
We can ride the wind of blessings. We can ride the wind of increase. We can ride the wind of change. We can even ride the wind of adversity for His glory. When you ride the wind, you are in a Holy-Ghost flow and you gain mass momentum. You're in that sweet spot where you've got crazy favor with God and man.
When the Spirit's Wind Blows
One of the symbols for the Holy Spirit is wind. John 3:8 tells us, "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
We were born of the Spirit, but sometimes we want to live out of our heads instead of our hearts. We need to determine in our hearts that we're going to ride the wind of the Spirit no matter what our reasonings say, no matter what the naysayers say and no matter what the devil says.
The wind of the Spirit blew hard on the day of Pentecost, and the 120 went with the flow. Acts 2:2-4 says, "Suddenly a sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. There appeared to them tongues as of fire, being distributed and resting on each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to speak."
Sometimes we need a fresh baptism of the Spirit. Sometimes we need a fresh baptism of fire. Instead of moaning and groaning in the flesh, sometimes we need to start travailing in the Spirit for that new thing He wants to birth in our lives.
Discerning Wind on a Thing
Before professional cyclists set out to race, the check on the wind direction, wind speed and wind timing. As we run our race, we need to discern the wind of the Spirit's direction, speed and timing.
But how do you discern the wind of the Spirit on a thing? The Holy Spirit, the wind of God, is the Spirit of grace. Where the Holy Ghost is blowing, there's grace on a thing—there's an anointing on a thing.
One definition of grace is divine favor. The favor you have with God unlocks the favor of man. Doors open that you didn't even knock on. Grace is a Holy-Ghost empowerment to do what you cannot do in your own strength. Hard things become easy. A river of provision flows. When grace is on a thing, it's got momentum behind it. When God's anointing is a thing, it's oily. When God's anointing is on a thing, it releases power.
Embracing the Winds of Change
Of course, to cooperate with the wind, we have to discern the type of wind blowing. Sometimes the winds of refreshing are blowing. Other times it's the winds of intercession or the winds of reconciliation. In this season, the winds of change are steadily blowing.
If we don't discern the wind, we may resist God, thinking it's the devil, because Holy Spirit is trying to take us to a new place. Most of us don't want to follow the Comforter to that uncomfortable place of change. We want to stay in the comfort of familiarity. We have to discern the winds of change—the winds of transition.
Here's some Holy Spirit wisdom: "You have to press into change rather than resist it. That's the perspective you need. To everything there is a season. Embrace each season as it comes, but be ready to embrace the changes as it ends. The trouble many face is in the transition from one season to the next. Instead of searching for My will, they allow fear to cause a stumbling block in what should be a time of great progress and growth. Change, great change, takes place during transitions, because during these times your faith is stretched. You have to let go of what's comfortable before you can see the greater thing ahead. But faith is a rest, and the Comforter is there to lead you and guide you from the former glory to the next glory. Embrace the change. Look for ways to better yourself and be ready to receive the blessings I have for you in the next place."

Prophecy: Don't Ignore the Angels of Transition - JENNIFER LECLAIRE CHARISMA MAGAZINE

Prophecy: Don't Ignore the Angels of Transition

JENNIFER LECLAIRE  CHARISMA MAGAZINE
Prophetic Insight, from Charisma Media
Before 2016 even began, the Lord told me 2016 would be a year of shifting seasons and suddenlies. That means transitions. Many are reporting shifting seasons, suddenlies and transitions—or feel one coming on. Others are frustrated because they bear witness to the prophetic word but feel stuck. Consider what the Lord told me:
"Many neglect the angels of transition, and they bypass the help I have sent to transition them into the next stage of their journey. Many ignore the angels of transition and, therefore, fail to enter into the new place I have set aside for them at the appointed time. Many are working in their own strength, struggling in the flesh and failing to embrace the work of My angels on assignment to help them transition into the new thing. Look for the angels in times of transition."
Only God can transition you from glory to glory, but there are angels to help you. Despite the acknowledged extreme teachings in the realm of angels, I was surprised at how much angelic activity we find in both the Old and New Testaments. Angels are mentioned 108 times in the Old Testament and 165 times in the New Testament—and the New Testament is much shorter!
I believe we're neglecting this powerful resource. We certainly do not worship angels, but it's absolutely foolish to ignore their ministry. Let me show you some ways angels can help in times of transition.
JOIN JENNIFER ON FACEBOOK FOR SPIRITUAL COMMENTARY AND ENCOURAGEMENT. CLICK HERE.
You Have an Angel
In Matthew 18:10, Jesus said: "See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven." We see angelic activity in the New Testament was common. When Peter was released from prison (by an angel) he came knocking on the door where intercessors were praying for his release—but they didn't believe when he actually showed up. They said, "It is his angel" (Acts 12:15). The Bible says angels are ministering spirits to those who inherit salvation (Heb. 1:14).
We focus so much on demons, but remember only one-third of the angels fell. Two-thirds are still on our side. We need to understand the ministry of angels.
Angels can offer information in times of transition.
"Angels" really means messenger, so this is one of primary functions of an angel.
  • Gabriel announced the birth of John the Baptist (Luke 1:5-25).
  • Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus (Luke 1:26-38).
  • God used angels to interpret visions He gave to Daniel, Zechariah and John in the book of Revelation.
  • Angels shared with the shepherds the location of Christ's birthplace in the manger (Luke 2:8-20).
  • An angel warned Joseph to flee to Egypt because Herod wanted to kill the child Jesus (Matt. 2:13).
  • An angel announced Christ's resurrection to the women who found His empty tomb (John 20).
WARNING: We should seek the Lord for information, not angels. But we should understand when we ask Him, He may send angels.
Angels can offer direction in times of transition. An angel directed Abraham's servant in Genesis 24:1-7 to find a wife for his son. Abraham told him, "He shall send His angel before you and you shall take a wife for my son from there. The angel directed the servant straight to Rebekah."
An angel directed Philip in Acts 8:26: "Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, 'Rise up and go toward the south on the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.'"
An angel directed Cornelius to call for Peter in Acts 1:3-5: "About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, 'Cornelius.' When he looked at him he was afraid, and said, 'What is it, Lord?' He said to him, 'Your prayers and your alms have come up as a memorial before God. Now send men to Joppa, and bring back Simon whose surname is Peter."
WARNING: We should not ask the Lord to send angels to direct us. We should ask Him to direct us. But He may choose to send angels to direct you. Be mindful that angels can direct you.
Angels can protect you in times of transition. An angel protected Daniel in the lion's den in Daniel 6:19-22. Daniel told the king, "My God has sent His angel and has shut the lions' mouths so that they have not hurt me, because innocence was found in me before Him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm."
An angel protected Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace in Daniel 3:26-29. The Bible says God "sent His angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him. They have defied the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God."
An angel spoke to Moses sternly about angelic protection in Exodus 23:20-22: "Indeed, I am going to send an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Be on guard before him and obey his voice. Do not provoke him, for he will not pardon your transgressions, for My name is in him. But if you diligently obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries."
WARNING: God is our stronghold, our fortress and our protector. We should not seek angels to protect us. We should cry out to God to protect us and know that He may choose to send angels. Psalm 91 promises angelic protection to those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High.
Angels can bring provision in times of transition. An angel provided water for Hagar after Abraham expelled her in Genesis 21:15-19. An angel bought Elijah food after his battle with the false prophets and his run from Jezebel in 1 Kings 19:5-6: As he lay and slept under the juniper tree, an angel touched him and said to him, "Arise and eat." He looked, and there was a cake baked on coals and a jar of water at his head. And he ate and drank and then lay down again.
WARNING: We should not pray that angels will bring us provision. God is our provider. We pray to Jehovah Jireh, and if He needs to choose to send an angel to bring provision, we should be alert enough in the spirit to recognize this.
Angels can war on your behalf in times of transition. God sent an angel to fight for Israel in 2 Kings 19:35: "On that night the angel of the Lord went out and struck one hundred and eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When others woke up early in the morning, these were all dead bodies." And God showed Elisha's servant the angel armies that stood with them in 2 Kings 6:15-7.
WARNING: We can ask the Lord to dispatch His warring angels, but if we stop there we are limiting God. We should ask God to intervene on our behalf, which gives Him the freedom and flexibility to send angels or help us in whatever way He chooses.
Angels Obey the Word of God
Psalm 103:20 says, "Bless the Lord you His angels, who are mighty, and do His commands, and obey the voice of His word." The Message Bible says, "So bless God, you angels, ready and able to fly at his bidding, quick to hear and do what he says. Bless God, all you armies of angels, alert to respond to whatever he wills."
