Why Israel?
“Because I love
Jerusalem, I will continue to speak for her; for Jerusalem's sake I will not
stop speaking until her goodness shines like a bright light, until her
salvation burns bright like a flame.” (Isaiah 62:1 New Century Version)
In 1979 Laurie and I,
still newlyweds after two years, were part of a church group in LaSalle/Peru,
Illinois. The former Baptist pastors, Stan and Dixie Buren, had gathered a
small group of charismatics around them. Many of the members were seeking to be
more involved with a national Christian movement called discipleship. To better
achieve that purpose, we were invited to a conference held by Shiloh Fellowship
in East Lansing, MI. The gathering was at Mackinac Island, in the very north of
the great state of Michigan. Laurie and I made the long trip, with our two boys,
Josh and Ben in arms, along with a few other carloads.
As a young couple (24
and 20 years old) we were fervently seeking the Lord. We wanted, in our heart of
hearts, to be right in the middle of what He was doing. We were going to do
what it took to follow Him, trust Him, and see His will come, on earth as it is
in heaven. We were strongly committed.
The name of one of the
speakers, Derek Prince, was familiar to us. He was an author too. The magazine,
New Wine, published in Fort
Lauderdale, had regular articles featuring five Bible teachers on a monthly
basis. They were Derek, Don Basham, Bob Mumford, Charles Simpson and Ern
Baxter. Personally, I devoured the messages each month, appreciating everything
that was written. Derek was one of my favorites of the five.

Derek spoke on the last
night of the conference, Saturday, and shared a message based on a little pamphlet
he had written. It was called “Our Debt
To Israel.” The words, spoken straight forward, hit my heart. I knew there
was something very special about what he was saying, and that I needed to
understand it. For this I am eternally grateful, as he made the Bible’s words
on the subject clear, as to why Israel.
Pointing out that the
Bible itself was written and accurately kept over these several centuries, by
God’s chosen people, the Jews, was the starting point. All of the writers -
Moses, Joshua, David, Solomon, Nehemiah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah and more –
were all Jews. Because of this reason alone we have a huge debt to the Jewish
people.
But the most important
reason of all, in regards to our debt to Israel and the Jewish people, is the
historical fact that the Messiah, Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, was, is, and
ever shall be a Jew. He came down from heaven, God becoming man, to the nation
of Israel two centuries ago, to bring salvation to the world, both for Jew and
Gentile alike.
In our daily reading of the
Torah, the Scriptures, the Bible, as believers, we can know and understand the
Lord’s heart for the Jewish people, through which He came, and His everlasting love
for them now. We can see the fulfillment of His promises of restoration to
them, how He has brought them back to their rightful Promised and Holy Land. It
is now our part of our debt payment to them, to stand with them to the end of
time.
Having been to Israel 11
times as of this writing in February, 2014, my heart for Israel and the Jewish
people continues to grow in love and appreciation, with a firm, long standing commitment.
Our ministry, Love For His People, founded by Laurie and I in April of 2010,
monthly send financial and prayer support to Jewish families in the Land. We
are always looking to do more, as God the Father directs.
Why Israel? Because
without the Jews, which remain as God’s eternal choice to reveal Himself to the
nations, we would not have had a Bible. Nor would we have a living Messiah/Savior.
The Word says that in
the last days all the nations will again rise up against these whom have continually
been blamed for everything that has gone wrong. Really? Well, it is about time
that someone like us, as believers, prove them all liars, and that His eternal
Word is true. We are to stand for Israel because the Lord God of Israel, Who sees them as the "apple of His eye", has promised to protect and keep them in His care. He has proven this over and over again.
Why Israel? Because God
said so. And that is certainly enough for me and my house. May your heart and
commitment be to do the same.

Now Think On This are thoughts I have written and shared on my two blogs Love For His People and Ahava Love Letters/Now Think On This. They cover a variety of topics that believers in Jesus (Yeshua) are interested in. Each one can also be a means of bringing encouragement to you as you walk the daily walk.
Many times these messages came as a result of inspiration by the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh). I would be driving along, and He would give me a thought, which I would then write down on a notecard or whatever piece of paper was handy, If my good wife Laurie was riding with me, I would ask her to write the thought down, so as not to risk our lives while driving down the interstate highway at a high speed, headed to our next destination.
My previous book of similar messages, Ahava Love Letters, published in the fall of 2013, first began showing up on the written page in November of 2010, after I had returned from Israel for the 10th time. We had just established our ministry to bless friends in Israel and the nations, which we named Love For His People, Inc, in April of 2010. I was asking the Lord for the next directive. His response was to use one of the gifts He had given me – to write. Some would call it a teaching gift. It took me a long time to see it that way, but now I do. And so I write.
Daily we are bombarded with negative news, pressures of the job, and conflicts to be dealt with. We all need encouragement. We need the assurance that our Creator, the One who knows the plans He has for us, is still in control. These messages will bring you hope, give you the solid sense of His hand on all, and increase your faith to stand strong on your convictions. I purposely kept each one short so you can read them alongside your Bible or other daily material.

“Don’t hoard treasure down here where it gets eaten by moths
and corroded by rust or—worse!—stolen by burglars. Stockpile treasure in
heaven, where it’s safe from moth and rust and burglars. It’s obvious, isn’t
it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be,
and end up being.” (Matt. 6:19-21, The Message)
I love the Olympics! Be it the winter or summer games, I enjoy watching all the nations’ athletes walk in for the opening ceremonies, all dressed in their colorful and smartly dressed uniforms (as my Brit friends would say) and cultural garments, waving their flags and their hands to the crowd, as they proudly represent their countries. It is a great sight of unity among the people, and the hosting country always puts on a fascinating show. Russians, Chinese, Americans, Europeans, Asians and more have all hosted the grand celebration of completion among athletes. I commend them for it.
It amazes me each time a new country is
represented that I have never even heard of, or a country is in the games for
the first time. Especially the lone athlete carrying his flag by him or herself.
I hope they do well and make new friends. They certainly have worked hard to
get there too.
Training and coming together through teamwork, in
preparation for the honor of their country and their sport, has been the
foundation built on for the competition. It certainly brings out the best. The
goal of standing on the podium after their event is completed, holding onto the
precious metal of gold, silver or bronze is a grand sight, as their home flag
is lifted and their national anthem is played.
As a former athlete myself, in middle and high
school, I understand a measure of the effort it certainly takes for these
competing. To spend hours, days, months and even years preparing; and then to give
it all you have at that specific moment in time, when you have a few minutes to
excel in an individual event, or as your teams goes through the bracket toward the
championship game, is quite the effort. May they all do well, and accomplish
their heart’s desire.
I am chasing gold too. Mine isn’t made up of
the earthly metal, but it is being stored up as an eternal reward, to fit on my
head as a crown. The King Himself, Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) will be
giving them out. And then we will participate in the Marriage Supper of the
Lamb ceremony too. That will indeed be a "crowning moment" for those
who have received His salvation through His shed blood. It will be a joyous
occasion, as much perseverance and running the race He has given us while in
our human body has been accomplished. I look forward to sharing that eternal
time with those I have walked with, and those who I will meet for the first
time.
While our time remains here on this planet, our
hearts are to be set on stockpiling treasure in heaven, as The Message Bible
puts it in terms we certainly understand. Laying up those crowns prepared for those
who have followed in His plans and purposes will be the award, along with the
eternal realm of heaven itself. This is not just a dream or fairy tale, but it
is reality. Our labors here on earth are to be for eternal, not just temporal,
achievements. My heart and yours must be set on that purpose.
Enjoy the Olympics as you can. Celebrate with
the victors as they raise their hands and winning metals in triumph, knowing
that your reward, being stored up in heaven, is a treasure worth living for in
this time we have been given. This too is a shadow of things yet to come, for
those who know the Lord Jesus.

The Lord has been telling me that there are many forerunners in this hour, yet there are few that carry a breaker anointing. There are followers, then leaders, and then there are pioneers. Lately, God has been speaking to me about a forerunner authority. Some would call it a pioneer, some would say apostolic, yet even others would say a breaker anointing.
Jesus Christ, as the supreme Apostle ("...Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest whom we confess," Hebrews 3:1), was the One who broke through the temple and made a new and living way for us to follow into the presence of God.
...Since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the Blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us... Hebrews 10:19-20
I believe that is exactly what the pioneer, apostolic, or breaker anointing does. It opens up new and living ways.
Roads that were totally unknown and unfamiliar to a community of people are now available, and this community is equipped in strength to travel the new road. I believe it is important to understand that when a forerunner interprets his findings from this new arena, it can generate far reaching effects for the rest of the community – both positive and negative. The anointing of a pioneer is powerful!

Jesus, our chief Apostle, broke through and opened a new and living way. I believe, in order to truly be effective in the Great Commission, the forerunner must do the same in their efforts to establish the Kingdom of God. I want to say this: You have access to a great breaker anointing within you.
It is Jesus inside of you. I praise God that Jesus opened up a new and living way for us into the Kingdom of God through salvation.
Yet now, with Christ in us, we can take His power into the earth and open up new roads of opportunities for His Kingdom to expand on the earth.
Right now, in this season, God is opening up the nations, ministry opportunities, and business opportunities for His children, His pioneers! Get ready for new levels...it's breakthrough time!

A Brand New Way
The pioneer is the first to enter into new atmospheres. Because they tread on new roads, the message is not always well received. In Numbers 13, we read about pioneers that are given the responsibility of exploring Canaan. They go and find great assets and potential.
Frankly, they are mesmerized by what they discover. They want the land. They come back and give the description to Moses, Aaron, and the rest of the Israelite community. They say, "We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit" (Numbers13:27).

Yet, just as they were giving the awesome testimony of what they saw, what God had promised to them, they then switched into another testimony of impossibilities and danger. The testimony of why it could never work."But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there" (Numbers 13:28). A spirit of fear was released to a whole community of people even though there was visible fruit of what could be accomplished.

Yet, in the midst of doubt, one spoke up: Caleb. Caleb believed they could take the land – Caleb did not see through the eyes of a normal person, nor did he have the same spirit as the other forerunners. There was something different about him in comparison to the other pioneers; he saw a super reality.
In fact, he was rewarded. The Lord said of him that he had a different spirit and that he followed Him wholeheartedly. With Caleb, Joshua also stood, believing they could take the land.

It was a new way for the all of the Israelites, and they could not believe the message of Caleb and Joshua. There were other forerunners with Caleb and Joshua, yet it was only Caleb and Joshua who carried the breaker anointing.
The Lord has been telling me that there are many forerunners in this hour, yet there are few that carry a breaker anointing. There are many people that are walking in a new way and obeying directions to explore this new land, but there are few that see in super reality.
In fact, there are many that have had experiences and have seen life from many angles, but when it comes to taking the land and establishing the Kingdom, their actions and words communicate that there is no hope. They release doubt and fear, and operate out of a natural reality.

A true pioneer is one that stands even in the midst of everyone affected by disbelief.
For them, there is a brand new way, yet it is a possible one. The authority of a pioneer is many times challenged; but their authority is weighty and can shift societies, cultures, and nations.

Also, a true pioneer is one that breaks through not only the blocks to create a new path, but also breaks down the walls that would keep them from dwelling in the destination continually as a culture. Caleb and Joshua were these types of men. They not only opened a new way and went into the promised land, their heart was to establish a living way. God wants to establish not just an experience where we taste fruit and see the great land or experience Heaven on earth as an event or service.
He wants us to know it as a continual dwelling place as a culture.

A Living Way
God is not interested in merely a good time or an event by itself. In fact, He is not interested in a new way alone. He is interested in abundant life; life that is ongoing. He is interested in a new and living way; a revival torch that will not only spark, but ultimately grow into an ongoing fire. That is the Kingdom. If we never take revival out of the service or make it a dwelling place, we become like the pioneers that give a report of the impossibilities. They believed they couldn't dwell in the fullness of the riches because of the giants.
But, there is a voice saying, "We can take the land, we can live in an ongoing outpouring because it is a living way."
It is not just a way that is new and never seen; it is a way that is alive and unending – a living way. The path that Christ torched for us to come into the Kingdom was completely new and could not be opened by any besides Himself. Yet the path is still open today, and it is living – Kingdom living.

The Kingdom of God is 24/7. It is continually in season and out. It must become a dwelling place, a place that is inhabited. If it isn't, the normal Christian life will be seen as just a series of intermittent events. It will be seen only through an earthly reality when, all the while, we have available for us a super reality...Heaven on earth.
God has made available for the Body of Christ open Heavens that will not shut, and we can dwell in these places. A living way is a breathing path that has limitless fruitful encounters.

Stephen carried this type of anointing. The Bible describes him as one that was full of faith and the Holy Spirit. He was the first person in the New Testament who was martyred for following the ways of Jesus.As he was being stoned, Stephen was literally brought into an open vision as he saw physically what was happening in the spiritual realm. He shouted out, "Look...I see Heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God" (Acts 7:56).
Yet, even though Stephen literally saw this open Heaven over his life, I believe he had it over his life even before then. I believe that Stephen was one that saw in a higher level, a super reality.

Stephen was truly a forerunner. His death caused the Church to grow and spread in a new and living way. We read right after his death in Acts 8:1-4 that when the persecution of the Church broke out, the whole Church scattered. But they were not just scattered; rather, the Church was being relocated and the Kingdom advanced.
Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Acts 8:4
Those that were scattered spread the fire outside and beyond their normal living quarters. Stephen's act birthed a community of missionaries! It was as if a boulder had been dropped from one-hundred feet in the air into a lake of lava, causing lava to splash out into many other areas. The breaker anointing – it stays open for others to dwell in and operate out of!
Lions Traveling Unfamiliar Paths
Caleb, Joshua, and Stephen were not followers, nor were they just leaders – they were pioneers. Yet these were not pioneers merely out to make a new discovery; they were men dedicated to bringing an entire nation into this discovery with them. I believe God is raising up super-breakers or super-pioneers to not only make a new way, but to make it both a new and living way. They are the ones that take initiative and do not wait for others to do it for them. They are young, old, and middle-aged. They are learned, unlearned, and of all classes.
God is taking people in this hour and turning them into a generation who sees through eyes of faith a super reality to destroy the works of darkness.
Not only do they want to taste the fruit of the land, they want the whole land! This is the call of the revivalist in this hour, this is the call of the teacher in this hour, this is the call of the entire five-fold ministry in this hour. To pioneer what God is commanding us to move into, and bring entire nations into it to dwell!

God is not just raising up forerunners.God is asking the forerunners: What type of report will you give? What type of reality will you see? What type of kingdom will you release?
God is calling the forerunner to carry a breaker anointing and be led on unfamiliar paths to take an entire nation into a living way – birthing a supernatural community! NEW AND LIVING.
I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. Isaiah 42:16
Lord, lead Your family into a super reality. Take us into Your breaker anointing. Teach us to decipher the many voices we hear and cancel out every voice that isn't Yours. May we hear Your whispers and know them from the rest. Release boldness into Your people.
I pray for the eyes of their hearts to be opened, that they may carry Your presence into the world. They are world changers. Thank You, Holy Spirit! Amen.

Now, Michael and his wife, Amanda, travel the world preaching and demonstrating the message of the raw power and love of the Kingdom of Heaven. They reside just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, and attend MorningStar Church when home.
