Mom, I Saved a Life in Israel ✡ "Built up the House of Israel"

May God make the woman who is coming into your house like Rachel and Leah, both of whom built up the House of Israel.

Shabbat Inspiration

The Book of Ruth tells the story of the Moabite princess Ruth, who, through great self-sacrifice, finds her way to the ultimate truth of the Torah. She becomes the 'mother of royalty,' the great-grandmother of King David, and the ultimate ancestress of the Messiah who will come from this royal lineage. This Mother’s Day, show your mother you care by helping save a life in Israel and "Heart to Heart" will send a certificate telling her how much you love her and how much you love Israel. Receive a free PDF certificate that you may print and present to your mom.

A Rabbi and a Priest Sing Halleluja

Only in Israel: A Rabbi, a Priest and a violinist sing "Halleluja" on the streets of Jerusalem. Beautiful voices and unity!

Blood for the Heart of Israel

The heart is about blood but also about love. A few dozen churches across the US are spreading the idea of expressing love to one’s mother via an expression of love to Israel.

Star of David Keychain

This cool keychain with five unique Star of David’s in shades of blue is a must for anyone who stands with Israel and the Jewish people!

Today's Israel Photo

Ilan Rosen's beautiful view from Mount Arbel in the lower Galilee. Showing the amazing history of the Land, one can find caves dating back to the Second Temple period dug into the slopes of Mount Arbel, which were hideouts for Jews who fought against the Greeks and Romans.

Thank You

Please help us continue to spread the beauty and significance of the Land of Israel!

IDF Begins Integrating Robots Into Ground Forces

IDF Begins Integrating Robots Into Ground Forces

Thursday, May 07, 2015 |  Israel Today Staff
Israel is already a world leader in the research, production and military integration of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Now, it is successfully integrating robots into its ground forces, as well.
At the International Ground Forces Conference held this week in Tel Aviv, Maj.-Gen. (res.) Eyal Ben Reuven revealed that just the week prior the IDF’s 7th Armored Brigade had become one of, if not the first ground force in history to train side-by-side with “advanced ground robotics.”
The general cautioned against getting too excited about robot armies taking the battlefield. “At this stage, robotics will not replace the human factor. …We see robotics as a supporting factor,” he said. “I do not expect to see battalions of military robots within a year. It will take time.”
At this point, the robots in question are referred to as an “advance guard,” and will be used to open corridors for attack in enemy lines. This is especially crucial in urban warfare, where booby-traps and hidden combatants have claimed the lives of many Israeli soldiers in the past.

'The Holy Spirit Is Moving Through Our Locker Room,' Says NBA MVP Stephen Curry

My dad may have been playing in the NBA at the time, but the best basketball games I remember from my childhood were the ones between my little brother, Seth, and me on our backyard basketball court in Charlotte, North Carolina. We'd play for hours and hours, oftentimes well into the night with the use of a bright stage light shining on the court, until our mom would yell out the window for us to come in. Those games would get pretty heated, but that was the norm for brothers as close as we were.
Our whole family was very close in fact, even when it came to school. My mom started a Christian Montessori school when I was in first grade, so we all went there together—Mom was in charge as the head mistress, our aunt was our teacher, and our grandmother was the cook. My brother and sister and I were blessed to have such great influences in our lives, and I can honestly say that my mom and dad were the best. They raised us to believe in God, and we were at church every Wednesday for youth Bible studies and every Sunday for services.
I remember it like it was yesterday, the day I gave my life to Christ. I was in fourth grade, and I recall hearing and understanding the gospel of Jesus Christ and walking down the aisle to give my life to Him. My parents continued to pour into my faith from that point on, making sure I understood the commitment I'd just made. Starting in middle school I attended Charlotte Christian School, which allowed me to hear the gospel on a daily basis. Looking back, my childhood was filled with the Lord's presence.
Wanting to follow in my dad's footsteps on the hardwood, I had my sights set on Virginia Tech during my high school years. Unfortunately, the Hokies and other ACC schools weren't interested. I was confident the Lord had blessed me with the talent to play the game, and I just wanted to go where He wanted me to be. That place became as clear as day to me once I met Bob McKillop, Davidson's head coach. He explained his vision for my career at Davidson and how he could help me achieve my goals. Plus, he was a man of God, so it was an added bonus to play for a leader who was grounded in faith. The entire recruiting and signing experience taught me about patience and seeking God's will, because He had a plan all along. I couldn't see it at the time, but I trusted He knew what was best for me.
During our Cinderella run to the 2008 Elite Eight, I knew the Lord was preparing me for a bigger stage to represent and be a witness for Him on the basketball court. I remembered my mom telling me from day one at Davidson that God puts His people in different areas of life so that they can reach more people for Him. I tried to use that time for His glory.
Then, in 2009, it was a surreal moment and a dream realized to be sitting in the green room with my family hearing my name called as the seventh overall pick of the NBA Draft.
Fast-forward to now—my fourth year with the Warriors—and my faith continues to be my driving force. God's blessed me with an awesome support system in Oakland, starting with my head coach, Mark Jackson, who is a pastor of a congregation in Southern California. It's rare to have such an outspoken believer leading an NBA team. We also have about 10 guys on our team who attend our pregame chapels and pray together before games.
The Holy Spirit is moving through our locker room in a way I've never experienced before. It's allowing us to reach a lot of people, and personally I am just trying to use this stage to share how God has been a blessing to my life and how He can be the same in everyone else's.
God's given me talents to play basketball for a living, but I still have to work hard to improve every day. I know that in the grand scheme of things, this is just a game that can be taken from me at any moment. But I love that basketball gives me opportunities to do good things for people and to point them towards the Man who died for our sins on the cross. I know I have a place in heaven waiting for me because of Him, and that's something no earthly prize or trophy could ever top.
There's more to me than just this jersey I wear, and that's Christ living inside of me.
Stephen Curry plays for the Golden State Warriors and was recently selected as the NBA's most valuable player.

2 Parasites That Will Suck the Spiritual Life Out of You

2 Parasites That Will Suck the Spiritual Life Out of You

There are two parasites that will suck the life out of you. Here's how we prevent those parasites from invading. (iStockPhoto)

Spirit-Led Woman
"Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you" (2 Cor. 13:12-13).
Paul, the author of this instruction, masterfully wove greetings throughout his letters to the churches in his care. If it was important enough for Paul to put his greeting in writing, then it is certainly important enough for us to put the greeting into practice.
Let's turn once again to the example of the lioness. She pairs the dynamic of greeting with something else: grooming. Each lioness has glands located on her brow, just above her eyes, which secrete the pride's scent. When lionesses regroup, they make intimate social contact by rubbing their cheeks and gently butting heads.
Their attention to scent recognition serves a number of purposes. The greet-and-groom ritual gives them a natural way to detect when something or someone undesirable has joined the pride and to show acceptance and belonging to one another. As God's children, we can do the same with the people in our lives.
If the ritual of lioness greeting progresses favorably, it quickly morphs into an impromptu grooming session. Lionesses primarily groom each other's head and neck, areas a lioness would find difficult to reach on her own. With their rough-textured tongues, the lionesses clean off blood and dirt while combing their companion's fur free of ticks and parasites.
When something takes blood and nutrients from your body, that creature is slowly but surely stealing your life. Like the lioness, we need each other to clean off the dirt, ticks and parasites from our lives.
"Don't imagine yourself to be quite presentable when you haven't had a bath in weeks. Don't be stuck-up and think you're better than everyone else. ... A leech has twin daughters named 'Gimme' and 'Gimme more'" (Prov. 30:12-13, 15, MSG).
Give me and give me more are parasites that diminish our nutrients and rob us of life. When we are part of a community that grooms one another, we help each other keep our lives clean of these things. It seems our large feline friends know innately what we humans often learn at great expense: It can be dangerous to groom yourself.
Who are the people in your life that need to be greeted? Who in your world would benefit from some tender grooming? Ask the Holy Spirit to show you someone who you could invite to be a part of your grooming process. Let's lift each other up to become all we are destined to be!

Do You Believe In God? - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Do You Believe In God?
- Now Think On This
by Steve Martin

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:  and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.  "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:  and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." (Matt. 7:24-27 NKJV)

Do you believe in God?

No, really. Do you, who say you are a Christian, possibly born in a Christian home, maybe raised by Christian parents, and claiming all along that you ARE a Christian, really believe in the Lord God of heaven and earth? Or do you just say you do? Do you really know Him?

How do you answer or respond to these questions or statements? (Please answer them as truthfully as you can. Only you will really know if you do or not.)

1.      I pray daily, believing that God hears my prayers and will answer in His way, His time, and for my greater good and those I love. Yes or no?

2.      When something goes wrong in my life, I often think that God is punishing me. Yes or no?

3.      If a health crisis occurs, I first call the doctor to get an appointment.

4.      The Bible is God’s Word, and I seek to know more truth by reading that before the daily newspaper or watching the morning news show. Or checking Facebook.

5.      There is a lot of bad stuff happening in the world right now. If God is Who He says He is, it wouldn’t be so. Yes or no?

How you responded to these every day questions or statements can well indicate if you really believe in God or not, or specifically, if you believe in the God of the Bible or not. How DID you respond?

I know there are times when we have doubts in our faith, in our walk with the Lord, and do question why and what, but is that a normal pattern in your walk, or more often than you realize? What would happen if something really traumatic occurs tomorrow? Or how did you respond when the last one did?

Having played on a sports team in my youth, through my teenage years, preparation for the upcoming games, with daily practice on the fundamentals and also unique situations that will arise in a game, made us ready. When real game situations did happen, that time given for the proper and needed time in anticipation, had made us ready. At least to the point that our ability and maturity had taken us in those years.

The many hours of hard work and effort paid off in the hour of the contest. We had put in the necessary time, making ourselves ready for the times ahead. And it indeed paid off, as it was a thrill playing in the state baseball championship games as a reward.

Putting the same scenario in our spiritual walk, as Jesus taught in the Matthew 27 Scripture quoted above, the one who built his house upon the rock, and made himself ready for the storms that would surely come, stood when the rough times came. The one who didn’t, well, he couldn’t, and didn’t stand.

The God Whom we say we believe in knows all, sees all, and is over all. If He says we must ready ourselves for the days ahead, for surely they will become dark and the love of many will grow cold because of it, then we must heed and obey His words.

“Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold.  But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.” (Matt 24:12-13 NASU)

How will we endure? How will we stand?

We will be able to because of His grace, while most certainly because of the time we now give in preparation for those times – reading His Word, praying daily, strengthening our inner man in the Holy Spirit for such a time as those which are certain to come.

I hope this reminder encouragers you to keep during the basics in your Christian walk. Believe in God by doing what He says. Then you will be ready in season and out.
