"Return, O Israel" ✡ Very Special Shabbat in Israel

Return, O Israel, unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast stumbled in thine iniquity.

Shabbat Inspiration

Falling in between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, this Shabbat has special significance and is known as the “Shabbat of Return” taken from today’s verse in Hosea. An essential part of repentance is that one feel remorse for his past failings and sincerely resolve to improve. During these days between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, we have a heightened opportunity to come closer to God. Support Israel's national blood bank, Heart to Heart, during this blessed time of year.

Popular YouTube Minister: Christians Standing with Israel

Amid a worsening international situation in attacks towards Israel, one popular YouTube minister is calling on Christians to fulfill their obligation in standing with the Jewish state.

Four Species Sukkot Set

The Four Species, or "arba'a minim" in Hebrew, are four different plants native to Israel. They are used in an obligatory rite during the Festival of Tabernacles, or Sukkot, which is coming up in just a couple of weeks! The species are held together and shaken in six different directions, east, south, west, north, upward, and downward, in acknowledgment of divine dominion over nature. This year, order your Four Species directly from an Israeli farmer!

Ohio Factory Worker Fired For Recommending Faith-Based Film to Lesbian Co-Worker

Ohio Factory Worker Fired For Recommending Faith-Based Film to Lesbian Co-Worker

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

Producers of the recently-released faith-based film Audacity were contacted last week by Chris Routson of Middletown, Ohio, who wanted to share with them his story of recommending the film to two lesbian co-workers and subsequently being fired after 13 years as a well-regarded employee.
"I have had good reviews from my supervisors for the past 13 years at my job, and I have always been outspoken about my faith to other employees and have never had any problems up until the last week of my employment," Routson said.
Routson was told that he was terminated not because of his faith, but for making his co-workers "uncomfortable." He was first told to stop doing this after he friended one of his lesbian co-workers on Facebook, and recommended the film Audacity to her on his own time from home.
She didn't seem bothered by this, but the next day Routson was informed he had made a co-worker uncomfortable and he was to stop. He said that he couldn't stop sharing his faith, and his supervisors said it wasn't about his faith, just about making co-workers "uncomfortable."
Two days later, Routson shared his personal testimony with a different co-worker, telling her "Every new person I meet I want to share the gospel with them and if they still want to be my friend then I have gained a friend."
Later he recommended the film Audacity to her and she never seemed uncomfortable or like she didn't want to discuss the topic with him, even sharing about her own family discussion on homosexuality.
It was not long after this that Routson was called into his manager's office and told that he was making an employee uncomfortable and would need to go home. He was told to report the following morning at the usual time, but then was called early the next morning to come in several hours later. Upon his arrival, he was terminated, asked to take his belongings and leave immediately. Routson is seeking legal counsel.
Whether the recommendation of the movie Audacity itself is what made Routson's lesbian co-workers uncomfortable or not, that was never the filmmakers' intention.
"Audacity was produced particularly to show that Christians don't hate homosexuals," Executive Producer Ray Comfort said. "We deliberately didn't stereotype or vilify homosexuals even slightly. Before it was released, one reviewer said that it had the potential to bring reconciliation between the LGBT and Christians."
In fact, Comfort has received positive feedback from two members of the homosexual community who have already seen the film:
  • "I am a lesbian. I watched your movie Audacity on YouTube. Very powerful. Thank you for not hating us."
  • "I have to say, as a gay woman who watched Audacity, I agree that the topic was handled with love and compassion which was refreshing to see..."
Since Audacity is now freely available online at www.AudacityMovie.com, viewers can decide for themselves whether or not they think the film would be worth firing someone over—especially a 13-year employee with two kids at home.

One may look at today's verse as describing one of the greatest signs of the forthcoming redemption - the bountiful fruits and vegetables lining the streets and filling the markets throughout Israel. The produce represents the blessing bestowed by the Almighty upon His people and His Land. However, not everyone in Israel can enjoy its rich bounty. Meir Panim helps to feed and care for those who need it most, sharing the blessing and love of the Jewish and Zionist state with the destitute and downtrodden and enacting the moral and religious values which make Israel strong. Help ensure that the 'blessings' which are the birthright of every Jew are enjoyed by everyone in Israel.

These Christian Colleges Just Scored a Big Win on Obamacare

This decision makes a Supreme Court decision on the HHS mandate even more likely. (Reuters)

These Christian Colleges Just Scored a Big Win on Obamacare

On Thursday, a federal court ruled that the government cannot impose massive IRS fines on religious ministries for following their faith.
The ruling, which disagrees with those of other federal courts, drastically increases the likelihood of a Supreme Court review of the HHS mandate - the provision in ObamaCare that requires employers to give women abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptives, and sterilization without a co-pay.
If non-profit organizations meet highly selective criteria, they may sign a waiver, which will force insurance companies to provide contraceptives to women for "free." Several religious organizations say signing the forms is a participation in sin.
The Supreme Court will soon decide whether to take up cases involving the Little Sisters of the PoorHouston Baptist and Texas Baptist Universities, and other religious ministries. Thursday's pair of court opinions protects Dordt College, CNS Ministries, and others from having to comply with the HHS mandate.
"Fifteen federal judges now agree that the government has no right to dictate or second guess a person's sincere religious beliefs," said Lori Windham, senior counsel of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. "The government keeps telling the Supreme Court, 'Move along, nothing important here' in hopes that the Court will ignore this crucial issue. But with [Thursday's] decisions, the Court will have great reason to decide this issue in the next term."
The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeal's opinion stated, "When the government imposes a direct monetary penalty to coerce conduct that violates religious belief, '[t]here has never been a question that the government 'imposes a substantial burden on the exercise of religion.'"
Although the government argued that the ministries were being paranoid and that it was simply asking them for signatures on a piece of meaningless paper, the court both refused to second guess the ministries' beliefs and saw through the government's argument.
"We need look no further than the government's own litigation behavior to gauge the importance of [the government's forms] in the regulatory scheme." If it was just a meaningless form, "there would be no need to insist on [the ministries'] compliance with" the government's demands.
"The government has many ways to achieve its goals without trampling over religious freedom," said Senior Counsel Lori Windham. The appeals court's "decision correctly protects the rights of religious ministries serving the most vulnerable in our society."
Last week five judges criticized the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling against the Little Sisters of the Poor, predicting the "gravely wrong" decision "will not long survive." Currently seven petitions involving non-profit ministries now await review by the Supreme Court, including the Little Sisters of the Poor (see video).
The Becket Fund, a religious liberty legal organization, continues to lead the charge against the unconstitutional HHS mandate, winning a landmark victory at the U.S. Supreme Court in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby. It currently represents the Little Sisters of the Poor, Mother Angelica's Eternal Word Television Network, and Houston Baptist University, along with many other religious ministries.
Seven other petitions challenging the HHS mandate have already been filed at the Supreme Court, and more are expected.

Does the Jewish New Year 5776 Hold Special Meaning? - SANDRA TEPLINSKY/LIGHT OF ZION

Is there biblical significance in the numbers in this year's Jewish New Year?

Is there biblical significance in the numbers in this year's Jewish New Year? (iStock photo)

Does the Jewish New Year 5776 Hold Special Meaning?

Standing With Israel

Rosh Hashana, the traditional Jewish New Year, fell on Sept. 14 this year and ushered in the year 5776. Although Rosh Hashana is known in the Bible as a day for blowing trumpets, by the time of Yeshua it was observed as the Jewish secular new year.
Could this year hold any special meaning for Christians, based on the unique numbers and letters associated with 5776?
As you probably know, some scholars believe the numbers comprising 5776 represent key themes of Scripture. The biblical concept differs from numerology, which uses numbers and symbols for purposes related to divination, soothsaying or manipulation.
Biblically, 5 could represent grace, 6 can represent humankind or the ways of man, and 7 can stand for completion. If that is true, and if God chooses to speak to us through our admittedly imperfect calendar system, 5776 could herald a watershed year in world history.
The number 5776 could represent a certain completion of grace as we've known it, coupled with a certain completion of following in man's (our) own ways. Now, to be sure, God is never not gracious! But His grace manifests in different ways at different seasons, for our ultimate good, to mature us to Messiah-likeness. Not always pleasant at the time, the complete intersection of grace with our own ways puts an end to (or completes) our ways. It transforms us to godliness in love, joy, peace, holiness and supernatural service. It draws sinners to Yeshua. It is actually a form of judgment.
There's more. In the Hebrew language, letters are assigned to numbers for various purposes. The letters assigned to the year 5776, "tav-shin-ayin-vav," spell a word used in modern Hebrew, meaning "heed." (The letters for the two 7's differ.)
Could the numbers and letters associated with 5776 confirm predictions or prophecies of impending global crisis? Perhaps. We will know in retrospect. Meanwhile, God does not want us unduly fascinated with signs or coincidences. Those are always intended to turn our focus and fascination upon Him.
At this season of tetrad blood moons, a completed Shemitah, and exponentially escalating sin, of this we can be sure: God is trumpeting a love call to give heed to Him and His ways. To those who respond, He will give grace to receive new grace. He will empower them to boldly withstand and shift some of the ways of the world in the year ahead.
Kingdom conflict will intensify, as the Scriptures say it must. But that's because the King Himself is coming. My prayer is that in 5776 He'll come powerfully through each of us. This year, may the shofar's trumpet draw you deeper into His kingdom goodness and glory!

This Is Exactly What The Early Phases of Market Meltdown Look Like

The stock market's waves are indicative of the crash to come.

The stock market's waves are indicative of the crash to come. (Reuters)

There is so much confusion out there. On the days when the Dow goes down by several hundred points, lots of people pat me on the back and tell me that I "nailed" my call for the second half of this year. But on the days when the Dow goes up by several hundred points, I get lots of people contacting me and telling me that they are confused because they thought the stock market was supposed to go down.
Well, the truth is that if there is going to be a full-blown market meltdown, we would expect for there to be wildly dramatic swings in the market both up and down. A perfect example of this is what we experienced during the financial crisis of 2008.Nine of the 20 largest single day declines in stock market history happened that year, but nine of the 20 largest single day increases in stock market history also happened that year. If we are moving into another great financial crisis, there should be massive ups and massive downs, and that is precisely what we are witnessing right now.
On Tuesday, the Dow surged several hundred points. There was much celebrating in the mainstream media over this, but what they failed to realize was that this was another big red flag. And we saw this volatility carry over into Wednesday. The Dow was up 171 points early in the day before ending down 239 points.
By themselves, those two days don't mean a whole lot. The key is to look at them in context. And in context, we have already witnessed the most dramatic stock market crash since the last financial crisis.
There will be more days when the stock market absolutely plummets and there will be more days when it absolutely soars. No stock market crash in U.S. history has ever gone in just one direction continually. There are always giant waves of momentum that cause panic selling and panic buying.
There is one thing that could change that. A major "black swan event" such as a historic natural disaster, an unprecedented terror attack, or the outbreak of war could potentially be enough to chase all of the buyers out of the marketplace. And considering the times that we are moving into, those things should not be ruled out.
But minus some type of event like that, we should expect lots of wild swings in both directions.
Over the past couple of years, I have repeatedly attempted to explain the general principle that markets tend to go up when they are calm and they tend to go down when they are volatile.
If you want the bull market to return, you should be rooting for lots of really, really boring days on Wall Street.
When things are boring, investors make money.
Days that are "exciting" are really bad for Wall Street. Investors like a world that is predictable, and when conditions start changing rapidly they get very, very nervous.
In the months ahead, trillions of dollars are going to be lost in stock markets all over the planet. Feel bad for the retirees and the hard working families that are going to get wiped out by this, but don't feel bad for the banksters. They have been laughing it up while most of the country has been suffering during our ongoing economic decline. If you don't believe me, just check out this YouTube clip.
A lot of people are going to be paralyzed during this time, because they won't know what to do. They didn't heed the warnings up until now, and they thought that they would be able to safely get out of the market when things started getting crazy. The big ups and big downs in the markets will confuse them, and the mainstream media will be telling them that everything is just fine.
If you have been waiting for the market to send you "warning signals", then you can stop waiting because it is happening right in front of your eyes.
Now is not a time for fear. Personally, I seek to live my live in a constant state of peace without any fear even though I write about some very hard realities almost every day.
This is part of the reason why I so adamantly encourage people to prepare for what is ahead. Knowledge and preparation can help eliminate fear.
If you already know what is coming and you are already prepared for it, you won't be freaking out like the rest of the general population will be when things start really going crazy.
I want to share something with you that Brandon Smith wrote recently:
Panic betrays and fear kills. The preparedness culture is built upon the ideal that one must defeat fear in order to live. How a person goes about removing uncertainty from the mind is really up to the individual. For me, combat training and mixed martial arts is a great tool. If you get used to people trying to hurt you in a ring, it's not quite as surprising or terrifying when it happens in the real world. If you can handle physical and mental trauma in a slightly more controlled environment, then fear is less likely to take hold of you during a surprise disaster.
Six months may be enough time to enter a state of mental preparedness, it may not be, but more than anything else, this is what you should be focusing on. All other survival actions depend on it. Your ability to function personally, your ability to work with others, your ability to act when necessary, all rely on your removal of fear. Take the precious time you have now and ensure you are ready to handle whatever the future throws at you.
Life in America in the years ahead is going to look dramatically different from what life in America looks like right now.

WATCH: Presidential Candidate Asks the Left for 'A List of Jobs That Christians Aren't Allowed to Have'

Gov. Bobby Jindal

WATCH: Presidential Candidate Asks the Left for 'A List of Jobs That Christians Aren't Allowed to Have'

Bobby Jindal has had enough with the prevailing double standard that punishes Bible-believing Christians but gives Islamic fundamentalists anything they ask.
The governor of Louisiana was asked about the case of Achmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old Muslim boy who was arrested when the homemade clock he brought to school was mistaken for a bomb.
While he thought the error was regrettable, Jindal was less concerned with a school district's understandable concern than with another kind of blatant viewpoint discrimination.
"The biggest discrimination is going on against Christian business owners and individuals who believe in traditional forms of marriage," he said.
He referred to the case of Kim Davis, who was sent to jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to lesbian and homosexual couples.
"Let's talk about that," the excited governor said. "Let's talk about the Christian florist, the caterer, the musician, who simply want to say, don't arrest us, don't discriminate against us, don't shut down our businesses, don't fine us thousands of dollars for believing marriage is between a man and a woman."
"Lets talk about not discriminating against Christians," he said.
Later, when former New York Gov. George Pataki said he would have fired Kim Davis for allegedly not doing her job, Jindal fired back.
"I've got a practical question. I'd like the left to give us a list of jobs that Christians aren't allowed to have," he said.
"If we're not allowed to be clerks, bakers, musicians, caterers, are we allowed to be pastors?" he asked. "We're not allowed to be elected officials."

Report: Obama Posts Pro-Abortion Nun, Transgender and Gay on Pope's Welcoming Committee

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

When Pope Francis steps foot in the White House, reports say he'll be greeted not only by the president, but by people who live contrary to Catholic teaching.
"In a time of global upheaval, the Holy Father's message of compassion and human dignity has moved people of all faiths and backgrounds," says Speaker of the House John Boehner. "His teachings, prayers, and very example bring us back to the blessings of simple things and our obligations to one another. We look forward to warmly welcoming Pope Francis to our Capitol and hearing his address on behalf of the American people."
Breitbart News reports the pope's welcoming reception will include Gene Robinson, Mateo Williamson and Vivian Taylor.
Robinson was the first openly gay bishop in the U.S. Episcopal church. He divorced his partner of 11 years in 2003. Williamson identifies as transgender and has been part of a documentary called Owning Our Faith about LGBT Catholics. Meanwhile, Taylor is the director of Integrity USA, which promotes the inclusion of LGBTQ lifestyles in the Episcopal church.
The three are part of a "cross-section of U.S. religious life," which will also include Rev. Samuel Rodriguez and megachurch pastor Joel Hunter, the Associated Press reports.
"I think it's so important that the pope is visiting because his global message is especially important for the United States," Sister Simone Campbell tells the AP. Campell is part of Nuns on the Bus and a pro-abortion advocate. "His message of changing our throwaway culture and to address the crisis of exploitation is really the key to changing our world to be more inclusive in the economy and more caretaking about the earth — and a lot of this policy starts in the U.S."
Pope Francis is to arrive on Sept. 22, according to USA Today.
