Jesus is Making Headlines in Israel

Monday, December 14, 2015 |  David Lazarus
 ISRAEL TODAY
The second largest internet portal in Israel is putting Hebrew-language testimonies about Jesus on their front page, and 95% of Israelis are hooked into the internet everyday, all day.
Walla!, the mainstream Israeli media giant, is producing, at their own expense, a series of up to 24 live interviews with Messianic Jews about Jesus. In the interviews, a well-known Israeli actress asks Israeli believers questions about faith in Jesus.
Some of the topics being discussed are:
  • Who are these Messianics Jews;
  • What is the difference between Messianic Judaism and Christianity;
  • Talmudic fables intended to dismiss Jesus;
  • Why is the Hebrew New Testament not available in Israeli book stores;
  • Isaiah 53
Management at Walla! had noticed popular video clips about Jesus produced by the Israel College of the Bible (ICB) on social media. In an unprecedented and exceptional move for a mainstream Israeli media company, Walla! asked the team at ICB if they could produce their own series about Jesus for the Israeli public.
Walla! has already begun placing the clips about faith in Jesus on the front page of their site, and they are uploading new clips during the busiest hours of their Internet traffic. Already on the first day of exposure, the numbers of visitors and comments are enormous.
Of the multitude of subjects argued and debated in Israel, Jesus is by far the most controversial. Walla!, the second largest Internet news company in Israel, has taken a bold and risky step by promoting interest in Jesus, and in Messianic Jews, to their massive audience. There are likely to be repercussions and resistance to such a major promotion about Jesus, but the management of Walla! seems to think that Israelis are ready to listen.
Eitan Bar, one of the Messianic Jews being interviewed for the series, says that Messianics in Israel can expect strong reactions as well. “Please pray for us and for all of the Messianic Jews in Israel. We know that there will be unyielding opposition.”
Bar and the team at ICB are also asking for prayer that this massive exposure to Jesus would bring the Gospel closer to Israeli hearts and minds. They are garnering support from Messianic believers across Israel to get active in the discussions with the thousands of comments and interactions about Jesus with Israelis on the website.
Bar also suggests some practical ways Christians around the world can help.
“Use your blogs and websites to link to the Messianic websites being promoted by Walla!. This really helps as it increases exposure to these sites and raises the sites rating on Google’s search engine. When Israelis search for keywords in Hebrew like 'Yeshua the Messiah', 'New Testament', 'Jesus of Nazareth' or 'Messianic Jews' they will be pointed to the Hebrew websites where they will be able to learn more about who Jesus really is, rather than to the many anti-Messiah, deceitful websites, some even denying that Jesus ever existed!"
Here is a link to the first Walla interviews about Yeshua. Click here to see the first interview (in Hebrew).
The two Messianic websites (Hebrew) being promoted by the series are: www.igod.co.ilwww.messiah.co.il

Today's Israel Inspiration

Our Sages describe that when God judges the nations of the world, He reminds them of righteous gentiles in Israel’s history. God asks the nations, "why have you not come close to Me?" If they say "I was too iniquitous, idolatrous or distant from God," He responds "were you more iniquitous than Rahab the harlot who ultimately came close to Israel and produced prophets and righteous; were you more idolatrous than Jethro the priest who came close and produced prophets and righteous; were you more distant than Ruth the Moabite who came close and produced kings of Israel?" The desired path is for all the nations to stand together in peace with the nation of Israel. Stand with Heart to Heart, Israel's national blood bank and emergency services, providing lifesaving treatment throughout the Holy Land.

December 14th To 18th: A Week Of Reckoning For Global Stocks If The Fed Hikes Interest Rates? - Michael Synder - THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Posted: 13 Dec 2015 Michael Synder - THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG
Are we about to witness widespread panic in the global financial marketplace?

This week is shaping up to be an absolutely critical week for global stocks.

Coming into December, more than half of the 93 largest stock market indexes in the world were down more than 10 percent year to date, and last week stocks really started to slide all over the world.

Here in the United States, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down about 600 points over the past week or so, and at this point it is down more than 1000 points from the peak of the market.  That brings us to this week, during which the Federal Reserve is expected to raise interest rates for the very first time since the last financial crisis.  If that happens, that could potentially be enough to accelerate this “slide” into a full-blown crash.

And just look at what is already happening.  Trading for stocks in the Middle East has opened for the week, and we are already witnessing tremendous carnage
Following Friday’s further freefall in crude oil prices, The Middle East is opening down notably. Abu Dhabi, Saudi, and Kuwait are lower; Israel is weak and UAE and Qatar are tumbling, but Dubai is worst for now.  Dubai is down for the 6th day in a row (dropping over 3% – the most in a month) extending the opening losses to 2-year lows. The 11% drop in the last 6 days is the largest since the post-China-devaluation global stock collapse. Leading the losses are financial and property firms.
Things in Asia look very troubling as well.  As I write this, the Japanese market has just opened, and the Nikkei is already down 508 points.

In recent days I have been explaining to my readers how everything is lining up in textbook fashion for another major market crash.  In particular, the implosion of junk bonds is a major red flag.  Late last week, Third Avenue Management shocked Wall Street by freezing withdrawals from a 788 million dollar credit mutual fund.  The following comes from Bloomberg
A day after a prominent Wall Street firm shocked investors by freezing withdrawals from a credit mutual fund, things only got nastier in the junk-bond market. Prices on the high-risk securities sank to levels not seen in six years and, to add to the growing sense of alarm, billionaire investor Carl Icahn said the selloff is only starting.
The meltdown in High Yield is just beginning,” Icahn, who’s been betting against the high-yield market, wrote on his verified Twitter account Friday.
Icahn’s comments come as junk-bond investors, already stung by the worst losses since 2008, are the most nervous they’ve been in three years after Third Avenue Management took the rare step of freezing withdrawals from a $788 million credit mutual fund.
What Third Avenue Management just did was absolutely huge.  Now investors that have money in any similar funds are going to be racing to get it out.  We could be on the verge of a run on bond funds that is absolutely unprecedented.  This is so obvious that even CNBC’s Jim Cramer is sounding the alarm…
Friday was a day where Cramer’s ears were burning with concern because of the troubles discovered with a high yield bond fund run by Third Avenue Management. It decided to bar investors from getting their money out of its Focused Credit Fund, because it could not meet demands to get cash back to them in an orderly way.
This was significant because when it tries to sell the bonds needed to satisfy these orders for redemptions, it could destroy the high yield bond marketbecause there are no buyers anywhere near the amount that they want to sell.
I cannot emphasize enough just how disconcerting this move is,” Cramer said.
I know that for the ordinary person on the street, all of this sounds very complicated.

But it basically comes down to this – anyone that has a lot of money invested in these bond funds is in danger of getting totally wiped out.

In a situation like this, it is those that are “first out the door” that come out as the winners.  I like how Wolf Richter explained what we are currently facing…
It works like this: When an “open-end” bond fund starts losing money, investors begin to sell it. Fund managers first use all available cash to pay investors. When the cash is gone, they sell the most liquid securities that haven’t lost much money yet, such as Treasuries. When they’re gone, they sell the most liquid corporate paper. As they go down the line, they sell bonds that have already lost a lot of value. By now the smart money is betting against the fund, having figured out what’s happening. They’re shorting the very bonds these folks are trying to sell.
The longer this goes on, the more money investors lose and the more spooked they get. It turns into a run. And people who still have that fund in their retirement account are getting cleaned out.
Bond funds can be treacherous – especially if they hold dubious paper, which is never dubious until it suddenly is. And when they get in trouble, you want to be among the first out the door.
I would anticipate that we will see more junk bond carnage this week – especially if the Fed raises rates.
And as I have discussed previously, a stock crash almost always follows a junk bond crash.  If the Fed does raise rates this week and stocks do start falling significantly, one key day to watch will be Friday.  JPM’s head quant Marko Kolanovic has warned that “the largest option expiry in many years” will happen on that day…
This important event falls at a peculiar time—less than 48 hours before the largest option expiry in many years. There are $1.1 trillion of S&P 500 options expiring on Friday morning. $670Bn of these are puts, of which $215Bn are struck relatively close below the market level, between 1900 and 2050. Clients are net long these puts and will likely hold onto them through the event and until expiry. At the time of the Fed announcement, these put options will essentially look like a massive stop loss order under the market.
A perfect storm for stocks is brewing, and this week could potentially be one of the most chaotic that we have seen in a very long time.

But of course the Federal Reserve could decide to surprise us all by not raising rates, and that would change things substantially.

So what do you think will happen this week?

Please feel free to share your thoughts by posting a comment below…

Fierce Female Christian Warriors Take on ISIS

“Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.” (2 Samuel 10:12)
Fifty Syriac Christian women in Syria’s Hasakeh region have left their homes, families, and jobs behind in order to join an all-female battalion formed to fight the growing menace of the Islamic State.
The battalion, known as the “Female Protection Forces of the Land Between the Two Rivers” – those two rivers being the Tigris and Euphrates – graduated its first recruits in August. So far, about fifty women have graduated from its training camp in the town of Al-Qahtaniyeh.
Syriac Christians, who pray in the ancient Aramaic language, follow the eastern Christian tradition. Both Orthodox and Catholic branches exist within the community, which makes up about 15 percent of Syria’s Christian population.
The Christian community in Syria constituted about five percent of the country’s total population before the conflict with ISIS began. Since then, the militant Islamic state has systematically driven thousands of Syrian Christians from their homeland and killed and enslaved thousands more.
The women in the new all-female battalion are eager to join the resistance against ISIS. Some credit their religious values with the desire to enter the fight. According to the Times of Israel, one fighter, Babylonia, 36, told AFP, “I’m a practicing Christian and thinking about my children makes me stronger and more determined in my fight against Daesh (ISIS).”
Support the Defenders of Israel Today!
She said that her husband, also a fighter, encouraged her to join the battalion, leaving behind their two children. “I miss Limar and Gabriella and worry that they must be hungry, thirsty and cold. But I try to tell them I’m fighting to protect their future,” she told AFP.
Indeed, the future is dark for women and children under the control of ISIS, which has notoriously built a network of sex slavery, trading and selling kidnapped and enslaved women throughout their territory.
The battalion has already seen action, fighting alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is made up of a coalition of Kurdish, Arab and Christian fighters, to capture the strategically located town of Al-Hol. The victory was significant for the SDF, as the town lies on a key route between ISIS-controlled territory in Syria and Iraq.
The Syriac Female Protection Forces are not the first all-female fighting unit to face ISIS. Last summer, a unit made up of Yazidi women, who are among the most persecuted under ISIS, formed to take on the sprawling jihadist state, which has kidnapped and killed thousands of Yazidis.

7 Lessons From the World’s Fastest-Growing Congregation - Dr. Michael Brown

7 Lessons From the World’s Fastest-Growing Congregation

In 1995, God began to speak to a young leader in Hyderabad, India, named Satish Kumar, telling him that he would have a very large church, but nothing materialized for the next 10 years.

In 2005, he planted Calvary Temple, starting with 25 members. Now, in 2015, he has more than 130,000 members, adding 60,000 in the last three years alone.

Perhaps even more remarkably, the massive building that houses this congregation—seating 18,000, with additional overflow facilities—was built in just 52 days, despite significant government opposition along the way. (The building is also centrally air-conditioned, which is a tremendous plus in India, and everything surrounding the building, including the beautiful gardens, was completed in the 52-day period.)

On my recent trip to India, my 23rd in 23 years, I had the pleasure of spending several hours with Pastor Satish, whom I had met before only in 1995. I also had the privilege of bringing a short address to his congregation during two of their five Sunday services.

What are some of the keys to this church’s supernatural growth?

Prayer and Fasting

The congregation always put a strong emphasis on prayer and fasting, but when they were about to embark on their building project, Pastor Satish called for 40 days of prayer and fasting, with believers fasting and joining together in corporate prayer as much as they were able to.

The problem was that he called for this during the rainy season, a time when it is unbearably hot and unbearably wet. Yet night after night crowds of thousands gathered on the empty property to join together for hours, sitting with their umbrellas up as Satish preached in the pouring rain (without an umbrella). It made for quite a sight.

When they came to the end of the 40-day period, he called for another 40 days of prayer and fasting, and when that ended, he called for 40 days more—so, 120 consecutive days of corporate prayer and fasting. It was then that he received the word to build the entire facility in 52 days.

The building miracle and the church growth miracle are directly related to prayer and fasting.

Preaching the Word
Despite conducting five services every Sunday (each service runs close to two hours in length), Satish preaches a full message in each service, averaging 60-70 minutes per sermon. (The first service starts at 6:00 AM; the last service ends at 8:00 PM.)

And he does not mince words, calling out sin, calling for repentance and pointing to the cross.

His goal in all his messages is that Jesus be exalted.

He also gives a 30-minute teaching to 1,200 key church workers before one of the late afternoon services.

Caring for the Flock

Every member of Calvary Temple gets a swipe card, and they register their attendance by swiping the card on a kiosk at one of the doors. (You can become a member on your first visit there, simply by declaring your attention to join, and the vast majority of first-time visitors are already familiar with Satish’s ministry through his TV broadcasts.)

If they miss a service, they receive a phone call the next day from a staff member, asking them if they’re OK and if they need prayer for anything. While this may seem overbearing for many Christians in the West, it is very meaningful to the Indian believers.

But there’s more: Every member of the church has a birthday cake delivered to their door on their birthday, meaning that the church is hand-delivering as many as 4,000 birthday cakes a day.

As Satish told me, many of his people are so poor that not even their own families celebrate their birthdays, and so when the cake arrives, they are in tears.

Calvary Temple also cooks about 10,000 meals every Sunday for poor members (you should see the size of the kettles) as well as providing medical prescriptions at 50 percent off to their congregants.

These are just some of the things that mark their care for their flock.

Supernatural Faith

Without being on the actual grounds to see for yourself, it’s very difficult to understand how impossible it was to build their facility in 52 days. The air conditioning alone was supposed to take 90 days to install, and because of problems with building permits, most of the work had to be done at night, under lights.

But Pastor Satish had been reading Nehemiah during the 120 days of prayer and fasting, and when he read that the walls of Jerusalem were built in 52 days, he took this as a word from the Lord and announced to his congregation that they would do the same. And they did!

When you see what God has done so far—and the real hunger of the people to receive from the Lord—it’s easy to believe for much, much more.

The Israel Connection

When I sat in Satish’s office, I noticed that he had two small flags on his desk, the flag of India and the flag of Israel. And the operative word at Calvary Temple is “shalom.” That’s how everyone is greeted when they swipe their membership card upon entering the building.

When I spoke briefly to the congregation, I told them that I saw a highway from Hyderabad to Israel. (I had felt this earlier in the day when praying over church property for Pastor Stephen Paul in that same city. His father has interceded for Israel for decades and considers it a sacred duty.)

Is it any coincidence that Pastor Sandor Nemeth of Faith Church in Budapest, Hungary, the largest megachurch in Europe, told me that he attributes much of the church’s supernatural growth and influence to its deep connection to Israel? Or that Robert Morris, pastor of Gateway Church in Grapevine, Texas, one of America’s fastest growing churches and the most giving church in the nation (donating more than $1 million a month to missions) has stated that the key to their supernatural success is that they give the firstfruits of their income to Israel-related ministry?

A Strong Work Ethic

Indian pastors are hard workers (as are many Indians in general), and Pastor Satish regularly puts in 16-hour days—with joy—while many of his staff members gladly work 12 hours a day. Some of his staff has been with him for 20 years now.

Yet what struck me while we were together was that he did not seemed burned out in the least, even seeming relaxed as we talked. And his family members I met seemed excited and blessed as well.

I’m quite aware that we can easily become ministry workaholics and that there is a lot of pastoral burnout in America. I’m simply observing what I saw, and as I noted, it is not uncommon for Indian leaders to serve sacrificially.

Wise Use of Media

Through no effort or planning of his own, Pastor Satish’s messages began to be broadcast on TV, and as he found more and more sponsors to support his show, the broadcasts began to increase.

Today, his messages air on 300 different programs each month, in several Indian languages. This results in more than 5,000 new visitors each week, many of whom become committed church members.

What can we take away from all this?

First, it really is time for God’s favor on India, and despite the strongly pro-Hindu government, the church is growing all over the nation. What has been happening behind the scenes for years is becoming more and more public.

Second, hearing these testimonies encourages our faith. Jesus is building His church and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it.

Third, in these days of church growth fads, when leaders are looking for the latest gimmick or technique to bring in the crowds, it’s refreshing to see that prayer, fasting, solid preaching, caring for the flock, exercising faith, standing with Israel, working hard and using media wisely can produce such extraordinary results.

May the harvest in India continue to increase and abound until the church of India becomes a blessing to the nations of the world—and to the lost sheep of the house of Israel as well.

Does an Islamic Prophecy Foretell an Apocalyptic Battle with the West?

Join us on our podcast each weekday for an interesting story, well told, from Charisma News. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

As the Islamic State has drawn the world's attention with terrorist attacks in France, California and elsewhere, Islamic experts say the militants wants to draw the United States and its allies into a ground war in the Middle East.
But these experts say this could be the "worst trap" because the founder of the Islamic State, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, believes in an Islamic prophecy that states Islam will be victorious following an apocalyptic battle with the West once Western forces invade the Middle East again.
"Should that invasion happen, the Islamic State not only would be able to declare its prophecy fulfilled, but could also turn the occurrence into a new recruiting drive at the very moment the terrorist group appears to be losing volunteers," wrote Rukmini Callimachi in a New York Times article.
President Obama referred to this prophecy in his speech Sunday night, arguing the United States should pursue a "sustainable victory" involving airstrikes and supporting local forces battling the Islamic State rather than engaging in another ground war in the region.
"I have said it repeatedly: Because of these prophecies, going in on the ground would be the worst trap to fall into," said Jean-Pierre Filiu, a professor of Middle East Studies at Sciences Po in Paris, and the author of Apocalypse in Islam. "They want troops on the ground. Because they have already envisioned it. It's a very powerful and emotional narrative. It gives the potential recruit and the actual fighters the feeling that not only are they part of the elite, they are also part of the final battle."
Joel C. Rosenberg, a New York Times bestselling author, wrote on his blog that his latest political thriller, The Third Target, and his forthcoming novel, The First Hostage, envision a scenario in which ISIS leaders are driven by end times prophecies to capture chemical weapons in Syria and launch attacks against the U.S., Israel and Sunni Arabs.
"As The First Hostage unfolds, ISIS leaders are trying feverishly to draw the U.S. and the Western powers ('the forces of Rome') into a bloody ground war in Syria," Rosenberg wrote. "Why? In order to fulfill Islamic prophecies about an apocalyptic end times battle in an obscure Syrian town called Dabiq and establish a global Islamic kingdom or caliphate."
Although he's had difficulty convincing western leaders of the importance of the "genocidal intentions of our enemies and the Islamic eschatology that is driving them," Rosenberg says he's been encouraged by the release of a recent book by Brookings Institution scholar Dr. Will McCants, The ISIS Apocalypse: The History, Strategy, and Doomsday Vision of the Islamic State, that explains the significance of the Islamic prophecies, along with recent remarks by GOP presidential candidates Sen. Marco Rubio and Sen. Rick Santorum, who have spoken out about the threat of "apocalyptic Islam."
"My hope (is) that other candidates and current office-holders, military leaders and intelligence experts will start studying and publicly discussing this matter," Rosenberg wrote.
