Jerusalem Inspiration

The book of Ezra-Nehemiah is dedicated to the rejuvenation of the Land of Israel, the people of Israel, and the Torah laws through a series of  reforms.  Ezra implemented spiritual reforms to combat assimilation and promote Jewish education, while Nehemiah’s focus was more pragmatic, concentrating on physically reestablishing Jewish communities and re-fortifying Jerusalem.  Both were essential for the survival of the nation.  As Israel’s first modern Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook commented, even the most mundane tasks like plowing a field or building a home, if performed in Israel, constitute a fulfillment of the word of God.  What does the first Biblical return to Israel teach us about the resettling of Modern Israel? Muslim Vandals Desecrate Cave of the Patriarchs by Ariella Mendlowitz - BREAKING ISRAEL NEWS

Muslim Vandals Desecrate Cave of the Patriarchs

“And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.” Deuteronomy 6:9 (The Israel Bible™)
During the Muslim time of prayer on Friday at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, Muslims stole the beautiful and unique silver mezuzah which adorned the entrance to the Biblical site.
The mezuzah, a scroll of parchment which must be attached to every doorpost as commanded by God, is believed to have been desecrated by the unknown Muslim vandals, who also reportedly broke into a storage shed and stole equipment used by the Tomb’s maintenance staff worth thousands of shekels, Israel National News reported.

As the Friday prayers came amid the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, Israeli police were not present at the time of the theft. Therefore, the responsibility to protect the Cave of the Patriarchs fell with the Islamic Waqf.
The Jewish community of Hebron has demanded that the ten days of the year during which Muslims have full access to the Tomb, and no Jews are allowed, be suspended until the mezuzah is returned, according to The Jewish Press.
Noam Arnon, a spokesman for the Hebron Jewish community, demanded the police respond harshly to the incident, saying, “The Committee of Hebron demands that the [special access given to] Muslims for the [Ramadan] holiday be cancelled in the Tomb of the Patriarchs until the mezuzah is returned, and that severe measures be taken against the thieving terrorists.”
Expressing his frustration that visiting Muslims blatantly disrespected the holiness of the site, Arnon said, “We cannot have Arab vandals taking advantage of a holiday during which the State of Israel gives them exclusive access to the first Jewish holy site in order to commit crimes against Jewish holy objects.”

This is not the first time the special mezuzah was stolen. In two separate incidents in 2013, Jewish worshippers were horrified to discover the site had been vandalized after Muslim prayers took place, also during Ramadan.

The Queen Against Boycotting Israel. - Israel Today

The Queen Against Boycotting Israel.

Monday, June 27, 2016 |  Israel Today Staff
Helen Mirren is recognized as a woman who played the part of the queen, but her less than royal role was picking grapes on a kibbutz in Israel shortly after the Six Day War in 1967.
"I had a Jewish friend many years ago and we visited Israel together as young backpackers," Helen recalls with a sparkle in her eyes reminiscing at the beginning of her love affair with Israel.
She worked in the vineyards at Kibbutz HaOn, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and then did a stint in the kitchen. The romance that started then has never waned. She has visited Israel several times since, and finds it difficult to explain what caused her to fall in love with Israel.
Ever since she has felt a strong attraction to Israel. "I believe that whoever supports the boycott of Israel is punishing not only the other side." She has come out strongly against the boycott, particularly the boycott of Israeli artists.
Mirren arrived in Israel this time to award the Genesis Prize to extraordinary Jewish figures, and the current recipient was violinist Itzhak Perlman.

Dr. James Dobson: Donald Trump Has Accepted Christ - BOB ESCHLIMAN CHARISMA NEWS

Donald Trump

Dr. James Dobson: Donald Trump Has Accepted Christ

Is Donald Trump a born-again Christian? According to a well-respected evangelical faith leader, the answer is "Yes." (Reuters photo)
Donald Trump, according to a new report, has accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
No, you didn't accidentally click on The Onion. That's a factual statement, according to a well-respected evangelical faith leader.
Dr. James Dobson, who was among the more than 900 evangelical faith leaders who met with the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting in New York City, says it happened fairly recently. He also said he knew who led the businessman to Christ.
"I don't know when it was, but it has not been long," Dobson told Godfactor's Michael Anthony in an exclusive interview. "I believe he really made a commitment, but he's a baby Christian. We all need to be praying for him, especially if there's a possibility of him being our next chief executive officer."
"I think that he's open," he added. "He doesn't know our language, he really doesn't, and he refers a lot to religion and not much to faith and belief."
To that, Anthony responded, "I imagine Saul, when he became Paul, didn't know the language, either."
"Yeah, well you've got to cut him some slack. He didn't grow up like we did," Dobson responded. "I think there's hope for him, and I think there's hope for us. I have great concerns about the next election."
Dobson said he was in the "small group" of 40 faith leaders who met with Trump earlier in the day at Trump Tower, and that he had a chance to interact directly with the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting.
"He's a lot nicer guy than you [think]," he said. "I think he is listening. There were a lot of people ministering to him personally."
Dobson also praised the event, during which he said faith leaders were "genuinely seeking the Lord's direction" in the things Trump was saying.
"He's sometimes kind of obscure in the way that he answers questions, and we wanted to ask him directly, with follow-up questions," he said. "We got a chance to do that."

At least 26 people in West Virginia have died in the U.S. state's worst flooding in more than a century, and hundreds more have been rescued from swamped homes, officials said on Friday.
The mountainous state was pummeled by up to 10 inches of rain on Thursday, causing rivers and streams to overflow.
"The damage is widespread and devastating," Governor Earl Ray Tomblin said at a news conference. "Our biggest challenge continues to be high waters."
A spokeswoman for the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management put the death toll at 23. The hardest-hit area was Greenbrier County in the southeast of the state, with 15 deaths, she said.
Multiple rivers have risen to dangerous heights, including the Elk River, which reached 32 feet, the highest since 1888, Tomblin said.
Government officials are focusing resources on rescuing those trapped or swept away by the flooding, he said, adding that some 66,000 residences are without power.
The governor declared a state of emergency in 44 of 55 counties and deployed 200 members of the West Virginia National Guard to help rescue efforts on Friday.
Though rivers were expected to crest by Friday night and the rescue and recovery effort is likely to last through the weekend, said Tim Rock, spokesman for the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
"There have been towns that have been completely surrounded by water," Rock said. "People say there is 8 to 9 feet of water in their house.
"It's at least into the hundreds forced to get emergency shelter," he said. "Even if you can get back into your home, who knows what kind of shape it's in."
West Virginia received one-quarter of its annual rainfall in a single day, National Weather Service meteorologist Frank Pereira said. Rains eased on Friday.
The storms that drenched West Virginia were part of a severe weather system that swept through the U.S. Midwest, triggering tornadoes.

Black Friday: Shocking Brexit Vote Result Causes The 9th Largest Stock Market Crash In U.S. History - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Brexit Vote - Public Domain

Posted: 24 Jun 2016 Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Has the next Lehman Brothers moment arrived?  Late Thursday night we learned that the British people had voted to leave the European Union, and this could be the “trigger event” that unleashes great financial panic all over the planet.  Of course stocks have already been crashing all over the globe over the past year, but up until now we had not seen the kind of stark fear that the crash of 2008 created following the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

The British people are certainly to be congratulated for choosing to leave the tyrannical EU, and if I could have voted I would have voted to “leave” as well.  But just as I warned 10 days ago, choosing to leave will “throw the entire continent into a state of economic and financial chaos”.  And “Black Friday” was just the beginning – the pain from this event is going to continue to be felt for months to come.

The shocking outcome of the Brexit vote caught financial markets completely off guard, and the carnage that we witnessed on Friday was absolutely staggering…

-The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 610 points, and this represented the 9th largest one day stock market crash in the history of the Dow.

-The Nasdaq was hit even harder than the Dow.  It declined 4.12 percent which was the biggest one day decline since 2011.

-Overall, Black Friday erased approximately 800 billion dollars of stock market wealth in the United States.

-Thursday was the worst day ever for the British pound, and investors were stunned to see it collapse to a 31 year low.

-Friday was the worst day ever for European banking stocks.

-Friday was the worst day for Italian stocks since 1997.

-Friday was the worst day for Spanish stocks since 1987.

-Japan experienced tremendous chaos as well.  The Nikkei fell an astounding 1286 points, and this was the biggest drop that we have seen in more than 16 years.

-Banking stocks all over the planet got absolutely pummeled on Black Friday.  The following comes from USA Today
Stocks of some British-based banks suffered double-digit losses in heavy U.S. trading. Barclays (BCS) shares plunged 20.48% to close at $8.89. HSBC (HSBC) shares closed down 9.04% at $30.68. And shares of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) plummeted 27.5% to a $5.43 close.
Top U.S. banks also suffered from the Brexit fallout, although not as badly as their British counterparts.
Shares of JPMorgan Chase (JPM) closed down 6.95% at $59.60. Bank of America (BAC) shares fell 7.41% to a $13 close. Citigroup (C) shares dropped 9.36% to close at $40.30. And Wells Fargo (WFC) closed 4.59% lower at $45.71.
-Friday was the best day for gold since the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

-George Soros made a killing on Black Friday because he had already positioned his company to greatly benefit from the Brexit vote ahead of time.

But please don’t think that “Black Friday” was just a one day thing.  As I warned before, the Brexit vote “could be the trigger that changes everything“.  And if you don’t believe me on this, perhaps you will listen to former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan.  This is what he told CNBC on Friday
This is the worst period, I recall since I’ve been in public service,” Greenspan said on “Squawk on the Street.”
“There’s nothing like it, including the crisis — remember October 19th, 1987, when the Dow went down by a record amount 23 percent? That I thought was the bottom of all potential problems. This has a corrosive effect that will not go away.”
I completely agree with Greenspan on this point.  This “corrosive effect” on global markets is not going to go away any time soon.  Sure there will be days when the markets are green just like there were after the collapse of Lehman Brothers, but overall the trend will be down.

Now that the United Kingdom has decided to leave the EU, financial markets have been gripped by fear and uncertainty, and there is a great deal of concern that this Brexit “could harm the economies of everyone involved”
Important British trading partners — including India and China — indicated they were worried that an exit would create regulatory and political volatility that could harm the economies of everyone involved.
The U.K.’s Treasury itself reported that its analysis showed the nation “would be permanently poorer” if it left the EU and adopted any of a number of likely alternatives. “Productivity and GDP per person would be lower in all these alternative scenarios, as the costs would substantially outweigh any potential benefit of leaving the EU,” a summary of the report said.
This threat even extends to the United States.  CNN just published an article that lists four ways the U.S. could be significantly affected by all of this…

1. Fears that the EU may be falling apart
2. Volatile markets slow down the engine of U.S. growth
3. Brexit triggers a strong dollar, which hurts U.S. trade
4. Brexit forces the Fed to rewrite its rate hike playbook

Fortunately we are now heading into the weekend, and that might have a calming effect on the markets.

Or it might just cause financial tension to build up to an extremely high level which will subsequently be released on Monday morning.

We shall see.

RCB’s Charlie McElligott is warning that Black Friday was just the beginning and that “today is the appetizer for Monday”.

And UBS derivatives strategist Rebecca Cheong says that we could see more than a hundred billion dollars of selling over the next two to three trading days
Strategies designed to mitigate risk will actually add to downward pressure in the S&P 500 over the next week as computerized selling ramps up to keep pace with falling prices. It reminds Cheong of the rapid stock selling that roiled markets in August, when the S&P 500 fell 11 percent to a 10-month low while facing similar behavior from algorithmic traders.
“The bigger the down move today, the more they have to sell, which would basically create a vicious cycle,” Cheong, head of Americas equity derivatives strategy at UBS, said in a phone interview. “We’ll see front-loaded selling in the range of $100 billion to $150 billion over the next two to three days. It could be very similar to August in terms of model-based selling.”
Personally, I am hoping for calm when the markets open on Monday.  But without a doubt, something has now shifted as a result of this Brexit vote, and things have suddenly become a whole lot more serious.

So what do you believe we will see happen next week?
