British Christians Must Tend to Israel's Wounds - Charles Gardner ISRAEL TODAY

British Christians Must Tend to Israel's Wounds

Sunday, July 10, 2016 |  Charles Gardner  ISRAEL TODAY
British and European nations now under constant threat of terror attacks should spare a thought (and prayer) for Israel.
In one of the most shocking incidents yet since the start of lone-wolf knife and gun attacks by Palestinian terrorists, a 13-year-old girl was butchered to death while asleep in her bed.
The grisly murder of Hallel Yaffa Ariel came just days after a senior adviser to PA president Mahmoud Abbas urged his people to slit the throats of Israelis rather than engage in dialogue. “If you ask me my blunt position, I would say—every place you find an Israeli, slit his throat,” Sultan Abu al-Einein, a central committee member of the ruling Fatah party, told the Palestinian website Donia al-Watan when asked about Palestinian officials participating in Israeli conferences. “Likewise, I am against talks, negotiations, meetings and normalization in all its forms with the Israeli occupation.”
And on the day after the world woke up to news of Hallel’s tragic death, an Iranian military official boasted of having 100,000 missiles in Lebanon ready to annihilate the Jewish state.
Speaking on al-Quds Day, when Iranians mark their solidarity with Palestinians, Iranian Revolutionary Guard deputy commander Hossein Salami said: “The opportunity to destroy Israel is now better than ever because tens of thousands of long-range missiles all over the Islamic world are ready to hit Israel immediately upon receiving the order.”
Adding gross insult to these appalling injuries have been the outrageous comments of Britain’s Opposition Leader Jeremy Corbyn who appeared to compare Israel to Islamic State during an event designed to confront claims of anti-Semitism within his party.
Jewish Labour MP Ruth Smeeth left the meeting in tears after saying she had been insulted by a hard-left activist using “traditional anti-Semitic slurs”, adding that Mr Corbyn’s failure to intervene was “final proof for me that he is unfit to lead and that a Labour Party under his stewardship cannot be a safe space for British Jews.”
Mr Corbyn denied that he had intended to compare Israel to ISIS. A spokesman said he had been referring to states that were Islamic in character such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan or Iran. He actually said: “Our Jewish friends are no more responsible for the actions of Israel or the Netanyahu government than our Muslim friends are for those of various self-styled Islamic states or organizations.”
In any case, the Jewish people are under greater threat now than they were under the Nazis, and this time British Christians especially must avoid the shameful option of passing by on the other side of the road like the religious folk in Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10.25-37). Israel has fallen “into the hands of robbers” (v30). We must take pity on them, tend to their wounds and look after them. The church dare not remain silent. “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish.” That’s a pretty dire warning from God’s word.
But a great opportunity also lies before us, as the verse continues: “And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4.14)
However, if we refuse to come to their aid, we will not prosper. For, in speaking of the future glory of Zion, Isaiah declares that “no weapon forged against you will prevail”. (Isa 54.17)

The Dallas Massacre: This Is The Kind Of Civil Unrest That I Have Been Warning Is Coming To America - Michael Snyder THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Bloody Handprint - Public Domain

Posted: 08 Jul 2016  Michael Snyder  THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE BLOG

Today is a day to mourn and pray for America. In Dallas, Texas Thursday night, a hate-filled gunman ruthlessly started gunning down police officers. A total of 12 officers were shot, and five of them are now dead. If we do not learn to love one another, there is no hope for us as a nation. Unfortunately, the love of most people has grown cold, and today messages of hate and division from people on all sides of the debate are being posted all over social media.

The massacre in Dallas represented the deadliest day for law enforcement officers in the United States since 9/11, and this is the kind of civil unrest that I have been repeatedly warning is coming to America. I have warned about this in my books, on radio and on television. But of course I am best known for my articles, and the following are just a handful where I warned about what we would soon see…

A Spirit Of Violence And Civil Unrest Is Rising In America
Trump Rallies Reveal Increased Tensions Among Americans As This Nation Plunges Toward Civil Unrest
Civil Unrest Has Begun In Baltimore And This Is Only Just The Start Of Something MUCH Bigger
Prepare Your Homes And Neighborhoods For The Violence That Is Going To Sweep America

Earlier this week, I warned that “the thin veneer of civilization that we all take for granted is evaporating“, but this is one instance when I am definitely not happy to have been proven right. Shooter Micah X. Johnson was a 25-year-old former Army reservist with no criminal history. He was deployed to Afghanistan from November 2013 to July 2014, and what he experienced over there may have deeply scarred him mentally and emotionally. According to the police, the motivation for the shooting was because he “wanted to kill white people, especially white officers”
Johnson, from Mesquite, Texas, a 20 minute drive from Dallas, reportedly told law enforcement that he was a veteran, and claimed to have acted alone, countering initial reports that as many as four gunmen were involved in the massacre.
‘The suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter. He said he was upset about the recent police shootings of black suspects. He said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers,’ Dallas Police Chief David Brown revealed at a 7:30am press conference.
Around 11pm on Thursday, cops cornered Johnson at El Centro College and attempted to negotiate, but four hours later the talks failed and a robot was brought in to detonate a bomb and kill the suspect. This was after shots had rung out at a previously peaceful protest in downtown Dallas with demonstrators screaming and running for their lives as cops dropped dead one by one.
What is truly frightening is that it looks like he was potentially planning even more violence in the future. When police searched his home, they found bomb-making materials, rifles, ammunition, and a personal journal of combat tactics.

This attack in Dallas comes on the heels of two separate incidents in which young black men were gunned down by white police officers. The following comes from TruNews
The Dallas shooting happened as otherwise largely peaceful protests unfolded around the United States after the police shooting of Philando Castile, a 32-year-old black man, on Wednesday during a traffic stop near St. Paul, Minnesota.
The day earlier, police in Baton Rouge shot dead another black man, Alton Sterling, 37, while responding to a call alleging he had threatened someone with a gun.
Racial tensions have soared to frightening levels in this country, and what is needed right now are calls for love and healing.

But instead, many continue to stoke the flames of hatred and division. Here is just one example
In an interview with BBC Radio 4 in London, Rev Jackson commented on the shooting of unarmed black men by police and the revenge attack in Dallas: ‘It’s a kind of anti-black mood, antisemitism, anti-Muslim bashing, immigrant bashing, female bashing, a kind of mean spirited division in the country.’
Rev Jackson considered what was causing the divisive mood in America.
He said: ‘Threats to deport 15 million immigrants…threats to build a wall between Mexico who we share 2,000 miles of a border, there’s a permissiveness towards black people [which] is readily apparent and we have been used as scape goats for deeper and deeper economic and cultural fears.’
And as I mentioned above, social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter are being absolutely flooded with hate-filled messages toward police officers, white people, black people and those that would seek to bring Americans together in peace and love.

It is a very disgusting thing to see, but this is where we are at as a nation.

Sadly, what just happened in Dallas is not just an isolated incident. In fact, there was another very similar incident which just took place in Tennessee
Authorities in Tennessee say a man who opened fire on a highway in Tennessee targeted police officers and others because he was troubled by incidents involving black people and law enforcement officers.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says in a news release that initial conversations with the suspect, identified as Lakeem Keon Scott revealed he was troubled by incidents across the U.S. The FBI says the suspect is black; the shooting victims are all white.
And overall, we have seen a 44 percent increase in the number of law enforcement officers shot and killed so far in 2015…
The number of police officers shot and killed in the USA is 44% higher than at this time last year following the Dallas ambush Thursday night that left five officers dead, according to data from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
From now on, it is going to take a lot of courage to be a police officer in America.

Personally, I couldn’t imagine going to work every day knowing that you are a potential target wherever you go.

As I discussed the other day, all the way from the top down the United States has become a lawless nation. We have already seen explosions of anger and frustration all over the country, and the chaos and the violence are going to get a lot worse. We are going to see more crime, more riots, more looting and more shootings.

Ultimately, we are going to see major cities in America burn, and there will be declarations of martial law in an attempt to restore order.

I have been warning that these things are coming for a long time, and now they are starting to happen right in front of our eyes.

So is there any hope for us?

A New Connection in Hungary...to Bless Israel Through Aliyah

Greetings friends.

This past week Love For His People received an email from Hungary, from someone we had not known before. They had found our website by searching for "those who love Israel". That would certainly include us!

Since that initial correspondence and what has followed (I share some below) we have decided to support their work monthly, in order to help Jews make aliyah (immigrate) to Israel. We too see the great need to assist those needing to return to the Land given to them by the Lord Almighty.

I hope this stirs something in your hear too.

Shalom,

Budapest, Hungary

Shalom Steve and Laurie.

Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my Email. I came across your webpage on the internet by searching "those who love Israel"

My name is Jim Clint, I’m originally from Northern Ireland but have lived also in both Israel and Hungary. Along with my Hungarian born wife and three children we gave up everything in the Northern Ireland in July 2013 to dedicate our lives to helping Hungarian Jews make Aliyah (return) to Israel. Our children attend Jewish schools here in Budapest. My wife's late grandfather was a Romanian Jew.

Around 600,000 Hungarian Jews perished in Nazi death camps in 1944-45. Sadly antisemitism is growing again in Hungary at an alarming rate. In a recent article it stated that over 30% of Hungarians are anti-Semitic. The Hungarian Far Right (anti-Semitic) party "Jobbik" increased their percentage of the vote from 1% in 2006, to 21% in 2014. The rise of nationalism in Europe is increasing at a rapid pace, sadly it's the Jews of Europe who will once again be blamed for all of Europe's woes. We are certainly living in very interesting times. Please have a look at a web-page I set up to highlight the dangers facing the Jews of Hungary, especially the antisemitism page attached… Jewish Hungary The situation for the Jews of Hungary is steadily getting worse.

Jewish Hungary
Once again anti-Semitism has risen it's ugly head here in Hungary. Just over seventy years ago around 600,000 Hungarian speaking Jews perished in Nazi death camp...

In order to carry out this work among Hungarian Jews we depend upon the financial support from individuals and groups. Without this support we would simply not be able to operate. If you know of any churches or groups who might consider supporting us please give them our contact details.

We help more needy Jewish people financially. This includes paying for the following: new Israeli passports, translation of documents from Hungarian to Hebrew, police checks, travel expenses to and from Jewish Agency meetings, family research documents, new suitcases and much more....

Please free to share our information with others who might be interested in helping, if you require more information about what we do, and the UK charity we represent I’d be glad to send it. The Jewish Agency in Budapest will confirm for you who I am.

All the very best and thank you for your time.

With every blessing in Yeshua

Shalom Steve.

Dear brother we would be greatly blessed by whatever amount we receive. I have been writing to congregations and pro-Israel groups for a long time trying to raise awareness for Hungarian Aliyah. Sadly we receive very little response, still we know that Yeshua is able to provide for our needs.

I was involved in Street Evangelism in Israel between 1993-99, I knew many Messianic leaders. I also worked in Kibbutzim in the Galilee in 1991. My wife's late grandfather was Jewish, from Satu Mare in Romania. Yeshua has given us fantastic connections in the Jewish community here in Hungary. We've been able to share Yeshua to Rabbis, teachers and many individuals. We have won the respect of the community here, working from the inside out because of our connections to the Jewish school.

Thank you once again, blessings to Laurie and yourself, and also all the fellowship.

July 9, 2016

Hi Jim.

I worked for Derek Prince Ministries for 8 years, Mahesh Chavda Ministries for 14 and Vision for Israel (Barry & Batya Segal) for 5 years. Each had been to Budapest a few times, so I learned a little of the people there. I believe Faith Church is in Budapest. Always wanted to go with one of these, but I was the office manager/Director. In 2010 my wife and I started Love For His People, Inc. to specifically help the Jewish people in Israel. Now we can also help them get there!

That's amazing Steve. In Northern Ireland my wife and I used our store house for a collection point for Joseph Storehouse. After that Storehouse only picked up from England and Wales and not Ireland. Barry and Batya spoke at a small Messianic congregation I founded in Northern Ireland last year.

I have many of Derek Princes sermons saved from YouTube, he was a true friend of Israel.

The Faith Church in Budapest is pro-Israel but not pro-Aliyah, I tried to contact the Pastor Sandor Nemet a few times to make myself know but he never got back to me. I know two Messianic Jewish ladies who attended his meetings years ago but left. We have our own home bible studies here in Budapest. There's so much Replacement Theology in the "churches" here. The Far Right members are connected to both the Roman Catholic and Reformed groups in Hungary. There's no love for the Jewish people in either group.

It's a blessing brother that you can be part of helping Hungarian Jews home to Israel. You'll understand I'm sure how difficult it is to raise support for anything connected to the Jews.
(Apart from Ezra we have only 5 donors who have supported us for the last three years, this includes our home fellowship of Shalom Messianic Congregation in Northern Ireland) . Brother you can see how blessed we are to have you on board, please do share our details with others.

I'll send you updates from time to time, because of confidentiality I'm not allowed to disclose the full names and photographs of Jewish people we help. This is what we promised the Jewish Agency here in Budapest. We have excellent relations with them.

I suppose you have heard about the troop buildups in Poland and Latvia! There could well be a conflict with Russia at some point, this will no doubt lead to problems for the Ukraine, Poland, Romania and Hungary. The European Union has been pumping money to improve the main west to east arterial routes in Eastern European countries. This I have heard is for easy troop and artillery movement in the event of a war with Russia. Europe is not prepared, it has a massive dept. Putin could easily take the Ukraine and the Baltic states.

In Israel they are gearing up to duel with Hezbollah again, this time Iran has moved some units close to the Golan Heights. Ezekiel 38 & 39 could well be played out soon, we'll see.

Blessings from Budapest,

Jim and Family

Work Is Work - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Work Is Work

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; and confirm for us the work of our hands;
Yes, confirm the work of our hands.” (Psalm 90:17, NASU)

Let’s face it. Work is work. For those of us who are blessed to have a job in this financial climate, and especially one that actually enables one to pay the bills, work is work. It is a must if we are going to feed the family, provide covering, and experience the daily provision that is necessary, day in and day out.

When Adam was kicked out of Eden after the original sin, he no longer had the joy of living in the garden that had been given to him to flourish in. He was then told, as written in Gen 3:17-19, “To Adam he said, “Because you listened to what your wife said and ate from the tree about which I gave you the order, ‘You are not to eat from it,’ the ground is cursed on your account; you will work hard to eat from it as long as you live. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat field plants. You will eat bread by the sweat of your forehead till you return to the ground — for you were taken out of it: you are dust, and you will return to dust.” (Complete Jewish Bible)

Work resulted as a result of his disobedience to the Lord. Instead of heeding the instructions to not do something, he went ahead and did it. The consequences still live on for all of mankind.

With over 45 years of work “under my belt”, I can say there were times when work was a joy. You can be fulfilled in setting a goal, working hard at completing it, and then receiving the rewards that accompany it. But more often than not, if I am sharing honestly, work was difficult, at times boring, and often not what my heart dreamed of doing. Indeed, the “sweat of your forehead” didn’t seem to bring the life many spoke of in the Sunday morning messages. The Monday through Friday job was a necessary, not the choice many of us would have made if given the opportunity.

We seek the Lord to understand the meaning of the job we daily have to put our hands to. We often think of what is the eternal meaning of doing the same tasks that in the long run we wonder why it is done at all. What purpose is accomplished for civilization if what we do today is gone tomorrow? It is a question faced by many as they go about their work.

Solomon felt the frustration, as he wrote this, now recorded in Scripture for all time. “So I hated life, for the work which had been done under the sun was grievous to me; because everything is futility and striving after wind.” (Ecclesiastes 2:17, NASU) Something was missing in his life. Futility and strife was all he could see as the result.

For most of us, 50-60 years of work is enough. If that what we have done has brought some good for those around us, we can find fulfillment in what has been accomplished. Trusting in the Lord during that time can be a main hope that His will and purpose for us did occur, and that our reward awaits us in heaven. For those who have not this hope, then what they have done will be gone when they are gone. Burned up forever at that point to come.

I am grateful for the job that I have been given as my trade, and the resulting provision given for this life. But I look forward to that day when all labor has been completed, and the eternal reward awaits.

Understanding the whys and why nots may only be known when we have reached the other side. In the meantime, keeping our eyes on the Lord must be our daily task, while doing our daily tasks.

May it be said of us also, as Jesus prayed, “I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.” (John 17:4-5, NASU)

David Barton: Trump Is 'God's Guy' - BOB ESCHLIMAN CHARISMA NEWS

David Barton

David Barton: Trump Is 'God's Guy'

Evangelical historian David Barton, founder of WallBuilders, suggested recently that Donald Trump "may be God's guy for right now." (WallBuilders Official Image)
Last week, during a broadcast of the "WallBuilders Live" program, David Barton addressed a question on many evangelical Christians' minds.
One listener named Pat, who claimed to be a delegate to the Republican National Convention from Washington State, wrote in that he didn't think he could vote for GOP presidential nominee-in-waiting Donald Trump. He then asked if there was anything delegates could do to stop Trump's nomination.
Barton—who formerly ran one of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz' Super PACs—offered an answer the caller likely wasn't expecting to hear.
"There's a lot of people frustrated with Trump," he said. "So, what do we do as Christians? There's several things we can do. One is we can look for biblical examples, and a biblical example is you have a lot of times that God chooses people who aren't God-fearing people to be people who really help His people."
He pointed to the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar, who "wasn't a God guy," but was declared to be the Lord's servant. He added that while Trump has acknowledged some Christian leanings, he hasn't exhibited a "relationship with Christ" in the manner in which he conducts himself.
"Is it out of the realm of possibility that this is God's guy for right now, even though he really is not a God guy?" he asked rhetorically. "The answer is 'no.' It's not outside the realm of possibility."
Barton said, regardless of who wins the election, Trump has already "busted the back of political correctness" and Americans now feel compelled to speak out about things they might not have previously.
"He's spoken out, and he takes a beating, and people keep liking it," he said. "The bigger the beating he took, the greater his numbers became, and the polls showed he really tapped into people being angry and tired of political correctness."
As a result, Barton said, Trump isn't "beat up" quite as often about his statements, because there's an understanding that he's got the people on his side. A "regular God guy" might not have been able to have had the same impact on political correctness.
"So that's already one good thing that has come."
Barton's co-host, Rick Green, added: "So really you're saying is we don't know necessarily the pieces of the puzzle God is moving around here. It's not always the piece we might've necessarily wanted to pick up and use, but that's how He's wiser than us. Who are we to say whether or not this is a Cyrus or a Nebuchadnezzar, or those kind of situations where God can still use him if he's the nominee?"
"Well, one thing I know for sure is that in this race of primaries, we had a lot of really good God guys in there," Barton responded. "And we had a huge turnout of professing Christians and evangelicals and others, so there is nothing to complain about about 'We didn't get a voice, we didn't have a candidate.' We had great candidates to choose from, and this is who the people chose with a really high turnout of evangelicals, so I kind of look back and say, 'Hmmm. I wonder where God's fingerprint is in all this.'"
Trump's political rise isn't necessarily a failure of the church, he added. And while he may not have been committed Christians' preferred candidate, that doesn't mean he may not be God's candidate.
"We may look back in a few years and say, 'Wow, he really did some things that none of us expected,'" he said. "So I am fully open to the possibility that because we did everything as Christians we could—we can't complain about our turnout, we can't complain about our quality of candidates, and this is what the people chose—I'm a whole lot more open to the fact that God may have something going here that is bigger than what we think or see."
Barton also pointed out Trump is a successful CEO who manages a wide array of business entities, and there are very few people in the world "worth $5.6 billion." He said the GOP nominee-in-waiting got to be successful by picking people who knew what they were doing and could get the job done.
He also said the nomination of judges is another key factor to consider. He said he was pleasantly surprised by Trump's "short list" of 11 potential Supreme Court nominees.
Addressing the remainder of the original question, Barton said Cruz would not support any effort to derail the nomination process. And, he noted the Republican National Committee is unlikely to allow any opening for rules changes during next week's convention in Cleveland.
"In 1 Timothy, we're told when you're running a race, you don't get crowned the winner unless you run according to the rules," he said. "That's process. You may be a great athlete, but if you don't compete within the rules, you won't win."
Instead, Barton said the focus should be on preventing efforts to change the GOP platform in ways that take it away from defending life and biblical marriage. He doesn't think that will happen, but acknowledged there are several well-funded efforts to try.
"We certainly know that from a worldview standpoint as a Christian, Hillary's worldview is much more contrary to where we are on religious liberty, rights of conscience, life, and traditional marriage," he said. "So, we'll see what happens."

19 Signs That American Families Are Being Economically Destroyed - MICHAEL SNYDER CHARISMA NEWS

19 Signs That American Families Are Being Economically Destroyed

The price of school lunches has risen to the 3 dollar mark at many public schools across the nation. (The U.S. Department of Agriculture/Flickr/Creative Commons)
The systematic destruction of the American way of life is happening all around us, and yet most people have no idea what is happening.
Once upon a time in America, if you were responsible and hard working you could get a good paying job that could support a middle class lifestyle for an entire family even if you only had a high school education. Things weren't perfect, but generally almost everyone in the entire country was able to take care of themselves without government assistance.
We worked hard, we played hard and our seemingly boundless prosperity was the envy of the entire planet. But over the past several decades things have completely changed. We consumed far more wealth than we produced, we shipped millions of good paying jobs overseas, we piled up the biggest mountain of debt in the history of the world and we kept electing politicians that had absolutely no concern whatsoever for the long-term future of this nation.
So now good jobs are in very short supply, we are drowning in an ocean of red ink, the middle class is rapidly shrinking and dependence on the government is at an all-time high. Even as we stand at the precipice of the next great economic crisis, we continue to make the same mistakes. In the end, all of us are going to pay a very great price for decades of incredibly foolish decisions. Of course a tremendous amount of damage has already been done.
The numbers that I am about to share with you are staggering. The following are 19 signs that American families are being economically destroyed:
1. The poorest 40 percent of all Americans now spend more than 50 percent of their incomes just on food and housing.
2. For those Americans that don't own a home, 50 percent of them spend more than a third of their incomes just on rent.
3. The price of school lunches has risen to the three-dollar mark at many public schools across the nation.
4. McDonald's "Dollar Menu & More" now includes items that cost as much as $5.00.
5. The price of ground beef has doubled since 2009.
6. In 1986, child care expenses for families with employed mothers used up 6.3 percent of all income. Today, that figure is up to 7.2 percent.
7. Incomes fell for the bottom 80 percent of all income earners in the United States during the 12 months leading up to June 2014.
8. At this point, more than 50 percent of all American workers bring home less than $30,000 a year in wages.
9. After adjusting for inflation, median household income has fallen by nearly $5,000 since 2007.
10. According to the New York Times, the "typical American household" is now worth 36 percent less than it was worth a decade ago.
11. Forty-seven percent of all Americans do not put a single penny out of their paychecks into savings.
12. One survey found that 62 percent of all Americans are currently living paycheck to paycheck.
13. According to the U.S. Department of Education, 33 percent of all Americans with student loans are currently behind on their student loan debt repayments.
14. According to one recent report, 43 million Americans currently have unpaid medical debt on their credit reports.
15. The rate of homeownership in the U.S. has been declining for seven years in a row, and it is now the lowest that it has been in 20 years.
16. For each of the past six years, more businesses have closed in the United States than have opened. Prior to 2008, this had never happened before in all of U.S. history.
17. According to the Census Bureau, 65 percent of all children in the United States are living in a home that receives some form of aid from the federal government.
18. If you have no debt at all, and you also have $10 in your wallet, you are wealthier than 25 percent of all Americans.
19. On top of everything else, the average American must work from January 1st to April 24th just to pay all federal, state and local taxes.
All of us know people that once were doing quite well but that are now just struggling to get by from month to month.
Perhaps this has happened to you.
If you have ever been in that position, you probably remember what it feels like to have people look down on you. Unfortunately, in our society the value that we place on individuals has a tremendous amount to do with how much money they have.
So if you don't have much money, there are a lot of people out there that will treat you like dirt. The following excerpt comes from a Washington Post article entitled "The poor are treated like criminals everywhere, even at the grocery store"...
Want to see a look of pure hatred? Pull out an EBT card at the grocery store.
Now that my kids are grown and gone, my Social Security check is enough to keep me from qualifying for government food benefits. But I remember well when we did qualify for a monthly EBT deposit, a whopping $22—and that was before Congress cut SNAP benefits in November 2013. Like 70 percent of people receiving SNAP benefits, I couldn't feed my family on that amount. But I remember the comments from middle-class people, the assumptions about me and my disability and what the poor should and shouldn't be spending money on.
Have you ever seen this?
Have you ever experienced this yourself?
These days, most people on food stamps are not in that situation because they want to be. Rather, they are victims of our long-term economic collapse.
And this is just the beginning. When the next major economic crisis strikes, the suffering in this country is going to go to unprecedented levels.
As we enter that time, we are going to need a whole lot more love and compassion than we are exhibiting right now.
As a nation, we have made decades of incredibly bad decisions. As a result, we are experiencing bad consequences which are going to become increasingly more severe.
The numbers that I just shared with you are not good. But over the next several years they are going to get a whole lot worse.
Everything that can be shaken will be shaken, and life in America is about to change in a major way.
