Time for Another Reformation - Charles Gardner ISRAEL TODAY

Time for Another Reformation

Sunday, February 12, 2017 |  Charles Gardner  ISRAEL TODAY
From reports of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting with his British counterpart Theresa May, it seems that the UK government doesn’t really believe Iran is a threat to world peace or, for that matter, that God’s chosen people are worth supporting to the hilt.
In defying a call for fresh sanctions against Iran, Mrs May indicated her continued commitment to the nuclear deal which Mr Netanyahu believes to be highly dangerous, saying: “Iran seeks to annihilate Israel, it seeks to conquer the Middle East, it threatens Europe, it threatens the West, it threatens the world.”[1]
I am reminded of the indelible link between Bible-believing Christians and comfort for Israel (Isaiah 40) – and where this is lacking, it is through ignorance.
In a year that we are celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, sparked off by Martin Luther, we should be thankful that it opened the way to an understanding of the Bible that had a hugely civilizing effect on the West, the heart of his rediscovery being that salvation in Christ comes through faith alone, not by good deeds.
Sadly, however, there was a major flaw in Luther’s understanding in that he failed to grasp that God had not forsaken the Jews despite their overall rejection of Christ. And it is widely reckoned that his anti-Semitic statements sowed the seeds of the Holocaust. Indeed, Anglican clergyman Simon Ponsonby has said that Nazism was a legacy of Luther, who had called for the urgent expulsion of Jewish people from Germany in his last sermon.[2]
But a 20th century hero named after him, Martin Luther King Jr, had a very different view which certainly does not chime with current political correctness.
“When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You’re talking anti-Semitism!” Those with a different agenda try to re-write history by claiming, for example, that this quote is a hoax. But it comes through unscathed on closer examination.[3]
“Peace for Israel means security,” said King, “and we must stand with all of our might to protect its right to exist, its territorial integrity. I see Israel as one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can almost be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security and that security must be a reality.”[4]
Judging by the strong Christian content of his inaugural speech along with the make-up of his cabinet including several Bible-believing Christians as well as Jews, I am most encouraged by the new U.S. President Donald Trump.
On important matters of politics, as in society as a whole, the Bible trumps all other agendas. And we are much nearer to being on the right track in world affairs when its ethos and principles begin to dictate policy once more – as it did 100 years ago when the (mostly) evangelical Christian members of David Lloyd George’s War Cabinet understood the importance of a re-born Israel. That led to the Balfour Declaration, promising that the British Government would do all in its power to facilitate the re-creation of a Jewish state in the Holy Land.
That it happened was clearly part of God’s plan, and the Bible’s agenda, but now the world condemns Israel for stealing land from the Palestinians. Yet, in addressing Israel’s restoration, a recurring theme of the Bible, the prophet Amos writes: “I will bring my people Israel back from exile… and will plant them in their own land, never again to be uprooted…” (Amos 9.14f)
I’m told that, earlier this week, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson took the trouble to show Mr Netanyahu the very desk at which Balfour wrote and signed the declaration.
That both Balfour and Trump have come under ferocious fire is because they have challenged the fashionable so-called ‘anti-fascists’ of the anti-God brigade. Canon Andrew White – the clerical equivalent of Trump when it comes to plain-speaking – put it perfectly when he said that “the world is anti-Semitic because it is anti-God. This land (Israel) is God’s land…”[5]
Also known as the Vicar of Baghdad, the Anglican clergyman has stood up to brutal terrorists while negotiating the release of hostages and has become the voice of reconciliation amidst the hatred and bitterness of Middle East conflict.
In an interview with this month’s issue of the Israel Today magazine, he added: “The conflict exists because Israel’s opponents are fundamentally anti-Jewish. One cannot merely say that they are only opposed to Israel; after all, Israel represents the essence of Judaism. No Judaism, no Israel. No Judaism, no God!”
Speaking of his experience in Baghdad, where he built up a church of over 6,000, he said: “At first the Iraqi Christians were against Israel, as were the Muslims. I was shocked by this and decided to enlighten them…about the Jewish roots of their faith.”
And it was as a result of this that they developed a love for Israel.
Hatred of Israel is due in large part to biblical illiteracy. So it is surely time for a new reformation which sees the Word of God restored to its rightful place as the sure foundation for all who claim to be followers of Jesus.
It is revealing that among Christian denominations that have taken issue with Israel are the Presbyterians and Methodists, who are in serious decline both spiritually and numerically.
Israel also needs to restore their relationship with God, as they did in Jehoshaphat’s day. But Christians are called to help with this process by praying for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122.6) and by sharing the gospel with them both in word and deed. (Romans 1.16)

Netanyahu Tells Israelis to Calm Down Over Trump Meeting - Israel Today

Netanyahu Tells Israelis to Calm Down Over Trump Meeting

Sunday, February 12, 2017 |  Israel Today Staff
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington on Wednesday.
Right-wing Israelis especially are anxious over the gathering, hoping that Netanyahu will take advantage of Trump’s sympathy for Israel to end the charade of the land-for-peace process.
And if he doesn’t, Netanyahu could be in for a political firestorm at home.
Education Minister Naftali Bennett wrote on Facebook that if Netanyahu and Trump come out of the meeting and mention a commitment to the two-state solution, “it will impact us directly for years to come. It will be an earthquake.”
Like many Israelis, Bennett sees in Trump an opportunity for Israel to wrest itself free from a destructive peace process that has only brought decades of escalated conflict and bloodshed.
At Sunday’s cabinet meeting, Netanyahu tried to downplay the significance of the meeting a little, insisting that even with a president like Trump, there are limitations.
“I understand that there is great excitement in advance of this meeting, driven by various motivations. But I only have one motivation: My utmost consideration is to ensure Israel’s security and strengthen our relationship with the United States as well as the joint interests that stand behind it,” Netanyahu told his ministers.
“To think that there are no limits with Trump is a mistake,” he added. “After eight years of complicated maneuvering in the Obama era, we need to continue to act judiciously during the Trump era.”

Why Satan's Attacks Against You Seem More Ferocious Than Ever - JOYCE TILNEY CHARISMA NEWS

Win the battle you stepped into when you became a Christian. (Brook Cagle)

Why Satan's Attacks Against You Seem More Ferocious Than Ever

JOYCE TILNEY  CHARISMA NEWS
I hear so many Christians say, "I'm under attack!" as though they were surprised. As a Christian, born again by the Spirit of God, you were translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. You entered a war zone! Yes, you live in a constant state of war between evil and good, God and Satan.
When the Lord delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt and told them about the promised land, He told them He would not give them the land all at once. There were too many enemies in the land that they didn't know how to fight. They would be consumed by the enemy. He was protecting them. He said, "As you increase," I will drive out the enemies, and you will inherit the land (Ex. 23:29-30)
At the same time, He kept them in the wilderness. He directed their footsteps with a cloud and fire. He fed them with manna. He expects us to grow in wisdom and stature just as Jesus did when He lived in this earth.
There is nothing new under the sun! When we read and study the Bible, which was written for our learning, God is showing us how to fight. First, we must realize even though we are living in this world, it is a spiritual battle we are fighting. Satan is your enemy. It is not your husband, neighbor or co-workers. You have been given all the spiritual weapons you need to overcome in this world. First John 5:4 tells us, "For whoever is born of God overcomes the world, and the victory that overcomes the world is our faith." The battle has already been won. You just have to enforce it in your life!
I love to study the women in the Bible. God spoke to my heart while I lived in Scotland and said, "Teach women today from women of yesterday." He gave me Romans 15:4: "For whatever was previously written was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." Why are you reading the Bible? A sense of Christian duty? To impress others? We are to read and study to show ourselves approved and to grow in wisdom to build our faith so that we can overcome every dart the enemy tries to shoot in our direction.
Every time you open your Bible, you are equipping yourself and strengthening yourself for the battle for your life, your family and your nation. The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God (Eph. 6:17)! The Word of God has to be revealed to you by the Holy Spirit to become alive and active in your life. When you speak the Word that is alive in you, you defeat Satan as Jesus did coming out of the wilderness (Luke 4:4).
When I study the life of Deborah, I see a wife, mother, intercessor and prophetess. At the time of Deborah, there was moral outrage, lawlessness and violence. This resulted in a society of destruction and chaos. A permissive lifestyle ran rampant in the land. Does this sound familiar?
I believe the Lord is extending an invitation to women of God today who are willing to stand up and use their God-given power and influence to change the world they live in.
Deborah did not try to overshadow Barak; she understood her call as a mother in Israel and men and women were drawn to her. Her prophetic anointing flowed through her to release divine strategies for the day. When we walk in our call as Deborah did with the heart of God for her family and nation, we will receive the same favor.
God needs Deborahs today to use their influence to change this nation. Too many women are suffering from rejection and pain from tradition and religious beliefs. They are walking wounded in their souls and need to be set free to follow their heart. God is raising up women in all walks of life to deliver His divine strategies and wisdom to discern the times and seasons. Are you willing? Believe me, embracing the call of God is not an easy lifestyle. If you are not ready for resistance, you are not ready to step out. We live in a war zone. God will not take us to the front lines until He knows we are equipped and ready.

“I Love the Beautiful Pictures”

It’s great to hear from you and make new friends from all over the world. Please send me an email and let me know how you are enjoying Israel365 (don’t forget to say where you are from!).

Hi,  I waited  awhile to email you,  because I wanted to word this correctly.  First off,  I am a Roman Catholic and believe in Jesus as the  Messiah.  That being said,  I totally believe that the Hebrews,  Jews, as I do not know what is proper name, are the chosen people of God and have total rights to Israel and Jerusalem,  I pray our new president will regonize that. I  have studied the Torah,  and what we call the Old Testament,  and all archeological findings and what I have read, convinces me of that! Please,  I am not a sychophant, I am a believer and love God with all my being.  I am unable to send money as I am partially disabled,  but I vote and help spread the word about Gods love for the Jewish people.  I am appalled at the u.n. and am ashamed that the U.S. did not stand up for one of our best allies! I wish I could do more,  but, I do what I can.  Please keep me on your email,  as I love reading the emails and love the beautiful pictures.  Your friend, Brady Mayes---May God bless you always!
Shalom,
Rabbi Tuly Weisz

Dr. Mike Evans: Trump and Netanyahu Have a Lot to Discuss - DR. MICHAEL D. EVANS CHARISMA NEWS

Dr. Mike Evans: Trump and Netanyahu Have a Lot to Discuss
DR. MICHAEL D. EVANS  CHARISMA NEWS
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump will soon hold their first meeting. What is the purpose? The Jerusalem Embassy Act? Iran? Syria? Truthfully, the answer is, "All of the above." Most importantly, it is to partner to wage a war on terrorists in the Middle East.
President Trump has neither a desire to engage in nation-building in the region nor to fight a traditional war. He was adamantly opposed to the Iraq war. The new wars of the twenty-first century are proxy, economic, media and ideological.
Israel is the undisputed proxy champion of the world. Radical Islam has labeled Israel, "The Little Satan." America has been crowned, "The Big Satan." When Menachem Begin was prime minister of Israel, he showed me a strategic plan he was to present to the president of the United States. Israel's conclusion was that America could not effectively win wars in the Middle East. Wars were fought over such a lengthy period of time. By the time the U.S. reached the region to fight a war, it had reached an end.
The reality is that during the Communist era, Israel, a U.S. proxy, had strategically deterred Communists in the Middle East. Now, Israel will become a proxy against radical Islam. There is no information operation in the region that compares to Israeli intelligence. The nation has eyes and ears on the ground in each Arab country.
Iran is ground zero for world terror. Its proxies are destabilizing the entire Middle East. It is in both Trump's and Netanyahu's crosshairs. Israel is incapable of effectively destroying Iran's nuclear reactors alone, which is the reason Netanyahu never moved forward with an operation.
Israel has always believed that with the U.S. as a partner, not only could the reactors be neutralized but Iran could be pushed into bankruptcy. That move would ultimately guarantee a regime change such as the one that took place under the Shah of Iran.
Syria has become a snake-infested swamp filled with the vilest terrorists in the world. Both the Syrian and Iranian matters can be resolved, but it will take the support of one global ally besides the U.S. and Israel. That will be Russia, which explains Donald Trump's refusal to alienate Vladimir Putin.
Not only has Prime Minister Netanyahu scored his greatest victory with the Trump presidency, but so has Trump with Netanyahu. Israel's finest days are yet to come with the Netanyahu/Trump alliance. Ultimately, Mr. Trump will have a naval base in the Port of Haifa, where U.S. troops can be protected and special ops can move in and out to decapitate radical Islam.
