Forgive, Forget, Move On - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Forgive, Forget, Move On

Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-15, NASU)

Have you ever noticed the “tools of the trade” that fishermen, who want to catch the bottom-feeding fish, use? One of them that I am aware of is the sinker, the little lead ball-shaped object. Once tightly fastened to the fishing line, not too far from the hook and bait, its purpose is to take the fishing bait to the bottom of the pond or lake. That is where the bottom-feeders are sucking up what garbage and other less-nutrient food particles end up once they have fallen to the bottom. Down to where it is dark and murky.

The enemy of our soul likes to hang around bottom-feeders. These are the ones who have been hurt, wounded and continue to walk around in bitterness. They too would rather live where it is dark and murky; where leaden lines bring down more bait to subsist on. Rather than forgive and forget, as we are commanded to do, they choose to hang onto the hardness of heart which has resulted, and stay as they are. Living in darkness, in the basement, means you don’t have to face the light. "No more chance to get hurt again by others" is your mindset.

But in fact, it is the light which will save you from the darkness. It is getting the infection out, the scab removed, the hurt and wounds healed that will give you the life you were meant to be free to participate in. The cross of Jesus sets us free from all this.

I have seen many people wounded in their walk with Christian brethren, both from leadership and other members of the church congregation. Rather than walk in forgiveness and forgetting what lies behind, they instead make the choice to not let go of the hurt and carry their wounds. What once was great fellowship and sharing a common bond in the Lord’s grace and mercy, it has instead become an infected sore, which never seems to go away. Another church, another day, another attempt at hiding it away doesn’t make it go away.

“Bear with one another; if anyone has a complaint against someone else, forgive him. Indeed, just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must forgive.” (Colossians 3:13, Complete Jewish Bible)

The ones who resist the command to forgive will continue to grow in the hardness of heart, the darkness, that robs all of the freedom to walk in love. By not letting go, through the act of forgiveness, will keep you from the trust and forbearance we need in walking with one another. The new relationships you will endeavor to make will have the shadow of the previous ones preventing you from true fellowship.

We must learn to forgive each other continually, forgetting the past, and move on to fulfill the call and purpose we each have in the Body of Messiah. There are too many dying people out there whom we are sent to help, but will not be able to if we insist on protecting our space and not letting these things go.

“Above all these, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together perfectly; and let the shalom which comes from the Messiah be your heart’s decision-maker, for this is why you were called to be part of a single Body.

And be thankful - let the Word of the Messiah, in all its richness, live in you, as you teach and counsel each other in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude to God in your hearts. That is, everything you do or say, do in the name of the Lord Yeshua, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” (Colossians 3:14-17, Complete Jewish Bible)

We don’t have the “luxury” of being bottom-feeders. We can't continue to let offenses, being offended, and petty arguments keep us from walking in the light.

We must bring everything to the His light, to forgive those who hurt us, and get on with the work we instead must be doing. There are bigger issues to deal with, so walking in forgiveness daily is a necessity.

I have been hurt. You have been hurt. Insisting on living in unforgiveness will only deepen the infection that Jesus Christ died for, to save you from.

We must repent from our sin of allowing unforgiveness to rule in our hearts. There must not be any place for it in your life, nor mine.

I am still learning how to live in forgiving others. Some days are better than others, but I have no choice but choose forgiveness, if I am to do that which He has saved me to do, and requiring of me to walk out.

I hope you are too.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

A Dream From God Has These 6 Clear Characteristics - JOHN E. THOMAS CHARISMA NEWS

A Dream From God Has These 6 Clear Characteristics

JOHN E. THOMAS  CHARISMA NEWS
I love dreams. I love the contours of God's voice, the creativity He puts into His relationship with each of us. I enjoy interpreting dreams because every dream from God is an expression of His heart to the dreamer, and I get to see one more facet of His love.
In my last post, I addressed this question: "How do I know if my dream is from God?" I explained that dreams can come from one of three sources—the enemy, the human soul or God—and I mentioned some of the ways we can recognize dreams from the enemy and dreams from the soul. In this post, I want to explore how to recognize dreams from God.
Dreams, being a form of revelation, hold to the same rules as revelation. To be from God, a dream needs to do the following:
  • Agree with Scripture;
  • Carry the character of God and fit His personality;
  • Be truthful, accurate;
  • Bear good fruit;
  • Point to Jesus and
  • Be full of color and light.
The Scripture Test
A dream from God will not violate what He has already revealed in Scripture. Like other forms of revelation, dreams are never intended to create doctrine or establish a rule of faith or practice for all people at all times—only the Bible can do such a thing.
It isn't a dream from God if it tells you to steal, commit adultery, murder or violate any other moral commandment. Similarly, it isn't a dream from God if it tells you not to pray, that another god is God, that you shouldn't go to church or share your faith, that you shouldn't serve or give. Dreams from God will not change Scripture.
The Character Test
One of the keys to recognizing God's voice is knowing the difference between conviction and condemnation. Conviction is about activity, whereas condemnation is about identity. Conviction is specific, whereas condemnation is vague. Conviction cuts to the heart but leaves hope for change, while condemnation strips us of hope for change. When we are dealing with condemnation, we begin to believe the weight of our sin is so great that we will never be free.
The Holy Spirit shows us where we aren't living out the new life we have in Christ, so we can repent and come back to His heart. The enemy, meanwhile, slanders and accuses us until we are left hopeless and feeling defeated. When the Holy Spirit brings conviction, we can repent and turn back to His ways and the weight of the conviction lifts. But when the enemy is condemning us, it doesn't matter how much we repent—it won't feel like enough.
A dream that leaves you feeling hopeless, like you will never be good enough for God or like you've done something that forever marks you and holds you back from His purpose for you—that is not a dream from God. It is from the enemy. Rebuke such dreams and don't believe them. Instead, ask God to show you His heart for you.
The Accuracy Test
The word "revelation" refers to something you didn't know previously. Just because a "revelation" is accurate doesn't mean it is from God (see Matt. 7:21–23). At the same time, God doesn't lie, so all revelation from Him will be accurate.
Understanding the difference between what is from God and what is not from God will keep us from chasing after deceptive signs, wonders and even deceptive revelation. Though the accuracy test is important when determining if a dream is from God, the other tests need to be employed as well.
The Fruit Test
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Gal. 5:22–23). A dream from God will never direct you to hate someone, become fearful, lose control or accuse another person.
But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, do not boast and do not lie against the truth. This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, and devilish. For where there is envying and strife, there is confusion and every evil work.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy (James 3:14-17).
The Jesus Test
In Deuteronomy 13 and 18, God gives keys to recognizing true and false revelation. When discerning the source of a dream, this is the main question we should ask: "Does the revelation point us to a god other than Jesus?" The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus (Rev. 19:10), which means that all true revelation will lead us to Him.
Did the dream tempt you to put your trust in anything other than Jesus? Or did it cause your heart to fall more in love with Him?
The Color Test
God is light, and around His throne is a rainbow of color. The Bible often uses "light" vs. "dark" and "day" vs. "night" as metaphors for good and evil, God and Satan. A dream from God will often be full of color and bright light.
The Main Thing to Remember
The foundation of discerning your dreams is relationship. As you draw closer to God, He will reveal what is from Him and what is not. If you approach dreams and supernatural experiences from a position of relationship, you will find yourself walking on safe, steady ground. Your Father is good and He wants to speak to you. When you ask Him for bread, He won't give you a stone (Luke 11:11–13).

Jennifer LeClaire Urges Prophetic Intercessors to Let News Spur Them to Prayer - CHARISMA NEWS

Jennifer LeClaire Urges Prophetic Intercessors to Let News Spur Them to Prayer

Jennifer LeClaire is now sharing her reflections and revelations through Walking in the Spirit. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

With news headlines in this hour, many people's hearts are failing them because of fear (Luke 21:16. In other words, they are fainting in the day of adversity because fear has attacked their faith.
This is now time to draw back from the battle. Even if you can't discern what is going on the spirit prophetically, you can see with your natural eyes what the enemy is doing through media headlines. Instead of stopping up our ears and closing our eyes, we can hit our knees in prayer and cut off the enemy's plans at the pass.
Indeed, the enemy always overplays his hand, and the media do a fine job tipping off what the prince of the power of the air is planning next. In this video, I urge you to see what is going on behind the headlines for what it is—and pray. Check it out!

LoveMusic! - Big Daddy Weave - The Only Name (Yours Will Be)

The Only Name (Yours Will Be)
Big Daddy Weave

Aug. 26, 2017

Greetings LoveMusic! listeners!

The Only Name - when all is said and done - when there will be no other gods that the nations will follow, is the One and only Messiah. His Name is Jesus, Yeshua. Yeshua HaMachiach, Jesus Christ.

When I first heard this song by Big Daddy Weave, I liked it right away. Some songs you have to listen to them over and over before they really become a favorite. Not this one for me, and maybe you too.

Thank you, Big Daddy for expressing my heart through yours!

Ahava and shalom,

Two fish. Five loaves. One little boy. When a small lunch was offered to Jesus, He took it and multiplied the simple offering, feeding five thousand. Like that little boy, the members of award-winning band Big Daddy Weave continue to submit their music, their ministry and their lives to Him with their seventh studio album, Beautiful Offerings (Fervent Records/Word Entertainment).

Beautiful Offerings follows the biggest album of the band’s career, Love Come To Life, which yielded the rare feat of four back-to-back #1 singles – “Love Come To Life,” “Redeemed,” “The Only Name (Yours Will Be)” and “Overwhelmed.” “Redeemed” became an anthem of unprecedented impact. Big Daddy Weave members Mike Weaver (lead vocals, guitar), Jay Weaver (bass, vocals), Jeremy Redmon (guitar, vocals), Joe Shirk (saxophone, keys, vocals) and Brian Beihl (drums) never would have predicted that a vulnerable song written for the lead singer himself, initially deemed by Mike too personal to even turn in for Love Come To Life, would become the group’s best-selling track in their 16-plus year history.

“I thought if I could somehow achieve something for God, that’s what He was going to use,” Mike admits, “but when we shared about brokenness, God used that more than He ever used any of the little successes that we had been given along the way.”

“Redeemed” spent 11 weeks at No. 1, was dubbed “Song of the Year” at the first annual K-LOVE Fan Awards, garnered Dove Award and Billboard Music Award nominations and certified a gold single by the RIAA for sales of over 500,000 records. However, more than all the accolades Big Daddy Weave has achieved, it’s the stories about how the songs have impacted lives that fuel the band’s passion for recording and touring. In fact, they used “Redeemed” as the starting point for the fresh batch of songs hand-picked for Beautiful Offerings.

“This record continues where “Redeemed” left off, celebrating what God has done over the last season,” Mike affirms. “Even as we saw and heard hundreds of amazing things happening in people’s lives, we also saw people who were barely approaching what God is offering. Many people were saying, "Thank God, I am redeemed," but then going right back into their same old thing,” adds Mike. “We wanted to bring light on that with Beautiful Offerings. Being redeemed is more than the forgiveness and the fact that our past is taken care of. It’s a message of hope that calls us out of where we used to be into a new place. It’s as much about what we are redeemed to as what we are redeemed from.”

“Every day is an opportunity to bless the heart of God through how we live, how we encounter our families, people we see in the grocery store, and everybody we meet,” adds Mike. “This isn’t us buckling down and trying to earn God's love by pleasing Him. It’s a realization that because we are children of God, we can bless the heart of God by being subject to and directed by Him in every moment of our lives. Our lives then become something that is pleasing to Him. We become a beautiful offering.”

The theme of Beautiful Offerings was the premise for a tour long before it became the title of the band’s next project. It was a concept the five men were already beginning to live out, so it proved a natural compass for the record.

“We worked to find songs that echo where we are now, not just anything that was a song for a song’s sake,” adds Jeremy, who has produced all of the band’s music since their second album. “I went into this really trusting that the Lord is working out the details of it. Even in the sounds and the parts that were chosen, He really made it happen.”

Through Beautiful Offerings, Big Daddy Weave wants to share the message, “Every one of us is beautiful because of what God has deposited in us. Our lives are an opportunity to literally be used for the Kingdom,” Mike explains. “Now we have an opportunity to live in response to who He is. Jesus is the beauty in the offering.”

Taking that approach into worship, Joe observes, “A lot of times we don’t worship the way we should—in our all. We should be offering that. I believe that’s one of the biggest parts of what makes the offering beautiful. It’s not just leftovers; it’s from our gut. It’s from the very core of who we are.”

Joe adds that the songs on the new album are “more chiseled and more focused and directed” as a result of the conversations the band members have nightly following the ministry time at the end of each performance, an intentional time of dedicated dialogue and one-on-one prayer with the people who attend their concerts. It’s been a transformational experience for the band as they’ve seen God work in powerful ways in the lives of people across the country and a theme that emerges in the lead single from the album, “My Story.”

“My Story,” written with GRAMMY®-nominated songwriter Jason Ingram, chronicles not only the story of the band members, but also a larger, overarching narrative. “If I told you my story, you’d see hope, you’d see love, you’d see victory, all these things, but it’s not mine. My story is really the story of what God has done in our lives, and the goodness of that is that it awakens things in other people. Our story is really just part of His story,” Mike offers.

“The idea for the song, “Already Done,” written with Josh Wilson, showed up on the road in the moment of us seeing people receive ‘Redeemed,’” Mike explains. “What we were seeing on the road is people really experience relief from dealing with things in their past, and God challenging us to realize, ‘It’s more than being forgiven. You have a purpose; there is more to this life. There is a greater reason for getting up in the morning. You matter to the Kingdom.’”

Meanwhile, keystone “I Belong To God,” co-written with Matt Redman and Allison Mellon, was inspired by the band’s recent trip to Cambodia. The group heard a story about a young man who had been abandoned by his earthly father and connected so strongly with the Gospel that he would strum a guitar and shout at the top of his lungs: “I belong to God! I belong to God!” The centerpiece of the new song was forged, with the rest of the cut centering around human trafficking, one of the most critical issues facing Cambodia today.

“I don’t know that I’m going to recover from that trip. We saw and heard things that were so terrible that when I got back, I tried to forget about it all,” Mike admits of the trip. “I feel ashamed when I say that. I really felt that I connected with God’s pain in that place, but I was trying to keep the pain at arm’s length. I didn’t realize it was Him at the time showing me what He sees.”

“Letting the truth of that song get a hold of you will really change the way you view God and the way you view others,” Brian adds.

In truth, the transformation they’ve experienced in their own lives and the miracles they’ve witnessed in the lives of others post-“Redeemed” have dramatically challenged the way the five men in Big Daddy Weave approach everything, from the songs they sing to the way they tailor their concerts each night.

“Our focus is definitely not just on coming out with touching songs. Ministry is on the top of the list in terms of what God wants to do night to night,” Joe maintains.

While they’re humbled by No. 1 singles that ensure a large number of people hear their songs, the awards, the fame, the attention, those aren’t the things the band views as significant. Obedience is their standard.

“The things I used to hold as important, or the things I wanted to have control over the past few years, the Lord has allowed me to truly let go of that stuff and not care about it anymore,” Jeremy admits.

Mike echoes Jeremy’s thoughts, adding, “When we hear the Lord, we want to do what He says, whether it looks like success to the world or not.”

After all, the story they’re telling with their music and their lives is not their own. “We just pray these songs touch people’s lives,” Brian offers. “I think that’s what we hope for with this record; that He just takes it further, it reaches more people and that His story comes through in all of this.”

In story and song, the members of Big Daddy Weave simply want their legacy to be one characterized by loving people and telling of the Love that’s changed their lives—their own beautiful offering. “When you see the goodness of the Lord, and it’s evident, not just in life, but in the lives of those around you like we’ve been able to see, all we care about now is just pursuing that and finding more of that,” Jay says. “I think you see that in the songwriting of this record, and I think you see that in the eyes of each member of this band.”

Every song, every concert, every prayer they pray with the people they meet, they are giving it all to Jesus. “It’s about who we give it to,” Mike concludes, “and God can feed everybody with it.”

"Singing in Tongues and Visiting Angels"
by Michael Van Vlymen, Carmel, IN

From the Desk of Steve Shultz:
Steve Shultz
We are posting a couple words on the supernatural ways of God today. One was an earlier post by Kent Simpson and this one is a most intriguing one as well by Michael Van Vlymen.

Both write about angelic activity and speaking in tongues...these activities go hand-in-hand. More and more people are being drawn to the supernatural and how heavenly activity works in our everyday lives.

Remember this Scripture as you read about angels today: "For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways" (Psalm 91:11).

I pray you absorb as much as you can today about God's angels and our heavenly tongue language! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

"Singing in Tongues and Visiting Angels"
by Michael Van Vlymen, Carmel, IN

Michael & Gordana

One of the great blessings of the day that we are in is the fact that the veil between the seen and the unseen is getting thinner and thinner. More people every day are encountering God's angels in visitations and in dreams and visions. It is a huge encouragement that God is ever-present in our lives!

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you" (Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV).
Some of my favorite encounters with angels have been when they appear as men. Often when angels interact with us in this way, we don't even realize they are angels. Many times we believe that they are just nice strangers that God has sent to help us or encourage us.
"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it" (Hebrews 13:2 NIV).

One of my favorite encounters happened when I went to pick up my wife Gordana from work.

My Prayer Walk Around the Mall and Singing in Tongues

My wife Gordana used to work at a salon in a shopping mall about twenty minutes from our house. One day I borrowed her car to use for the day. I figured that I would just pick her up at the end of her day. The only variable in this was, if my wife had more clients or customers show up after I got to the mall, I would either have to wait for her to finish the extra work, or leave and make a return trip.

Wouldn't you know that this day was one of those days. I had actually gotten to the mall about a half an hour early, and then I found out that my wife had just committed herself to two more hours of work. I was looking at a two and a half hour wait. I didn't really want to drive home and waste the driving time or the gas, yet I didn't really want to hang out in the mall for two and a half hours. You can only cruise the food court for free samples so many times before they start looking at you funny. What was I to do?

I suddenly got a brilliant idea! Why don't I do a prayer walk around the mall! That would kill a lot of time and I would actually be doing something useful—changing the spiritual atmosphere. So I set out on my prayer walk. I walked around the interior of the mall, praying out loud in tongues. Sometimes I walked into the various stores and sometimes I did not. I sang in tongues a lot as I went along. People sing right?

Well after one lap, I still had loads of time, so I did another lap. After the second lap, I still had way too much time left, so I decided to move my prayer walk to the outside of the building. I then began walking around the outside of the mall. I didn't realize until I began that going around the outside of the mall would be considerably more walking! But I had committed myself. I did my prayer walk around the mall and made it back to the main entrance...a little tired but spiritually refreshed.

The Angel Over the Mall

I still had about twenty minutes of free time, so I headed to the food court. I figured I could use the facilities and get something to drink. As I walked into the food court, a handsome young black man in his mid-thirties approached me. He smiled and held out his hand and shook mine and said, "I want you to know that I appreciate you being here today."
I was a little confused at that point. There was something in the way he spoke that carried something more than just his words. Then he spoke again, but this time he spoke to my mind and all confusion was immediately cleared up.

He said, "I am the angel over this mall," and he turned and walked away. I have since done many more prayer walks at the mall, but have not seen him again.

As Hebrews 13:2 tells us, "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

For those who hear testimonies such as this and also desire to have more interaction with the things of Heaven, this is the time. Ask the Lord for a greater awareness of the Kingdom in your life!
