Adventure (as in Field Trip!) - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Adventure
(as in Field Trip!)
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“Just think — you don't need a thing, you've got it all! All God's gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale. And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that.” (I Corinthians 1:7-9, THE MESSAGE)

Remember those young, childhood days in grade school, and the teacher announced, “Tomorrow we are going on a field trip!” You were about to jump out of your seat with excitement! In some ways, it didn’t matter if the travel was going to be across five city blocks, or to the other end of town several miles away. You were “going”, and it was certain to be an adventure.

I have even seen the eyes of staff members, in several Christian ministries that I was administrator or director at, get a bit bigger when I had the joy of saying several times over the years, “Next month we are going on a field trip!” Anticipation then grew in them as each day passed, looking forward to that time together when we could be adventurous as a team.

Why does international travel seem so appealing to many? Because it gives the chance to get away, see the vast world, and experience other cities and cultures. Look at the Israeli young adults who hit the airwaves the first year out of high school, before beginning their stint in the required one and a half (girls) or two-year commitment (boys) in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces). They literally “take off” for adventures in Asia, Australia, Africa or South America. And then back to the home front where the defense adventure starts.

Or consider those who have entered into their retirement years, which I really believe that for those trusting in our Lord Jesus, it can be just the start of the next adventure the Lord already had planned for your life. As Rick Joyner (Morningstar Ministries in the Charlotte, North Carolina area) likes to say, this final time in life is for the “refirement” years.

Seriously, who wants to sit around watching TV all day, or getting out and hitting a white ball for several miles, only to get frustrated most of the time!

For the decades in previous years, these golden boys and girls saved as best they could, doing without many needs and wants, anticipating the last years of life would be for travel and adventurous ease, their life-long destination reward. As too do many young people worldwide, they love adventure.

You and I are pretty much the same as the young ones or the old ones. In fact, we too love adventure. Looking forward to, and then actually accomplishing an adventurous time in life, brings a real joy, a sense of fulfillment in our spirit, soul and body.

As for doing the same old, same old, well… it gets old. We need that occasional change in our life; we need that pent-up desire for excitement to happen at least once in a while, and so we look forward to those adventures we hope and pray are coming up in the near feature.

Why do we delight in, and even crave, adventure? Because we are created in God’s image, and He places that same desire of His in us. And guess what, He above all loves adventure. He loved taking Moses and a few friends (in the millions) across the desert, leaving behind some chasers on horses and chariots. And then He was thrilled to open the Red Sea for them to cross over. (I bet it was more than six inches deep, as one joke is quipped, wittily expressed.)

Our God, who enjoys being personally involved with us daily, delighted in walking around the Land of Israel in the first century, sharing His compassionate love, healing, and life lessons with the down and out; the lost in spirit and soul; and those like us who needed a break, and whole salvation, from a lackluster life they had been burdened with.

You too want to see our kids and grandkids follow the Lord Jesus? Give them an adventure, a field trip once in a while, centered around God. Having a real purpose, a real sense of fulfillment will keep them from considering drugs, alcohol, sex or daylong video games instead. They can have and keep experiences with the Giver of Life, who alone can give them a life adventure if they seek and follow after Him.

Our Lord Yeshua’s heart is to give you a lifetime of adventure. It does get tough going through the valleys and reaching mountain tops along the way, but hey, what do you have to lose, except eternal life if you choose your own way. As our President Trump said to the American black people, who generation after generation voted for Democrats, “What do you have to lose?” by instead giving him a chance.

Whatever your age, trust in the Lord and your life will be more exciting than what you thought it would be when you first said yes to Him. Keep saying yes. He will take you on field trips. He will give you the fulfillment of those heart’s desires you have. After all, it is He who put them there in the first place.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).

Pat Robertson, Stephen Strang Unpack Why Trump Followers Are So Excited Right Now - Steve Strang

Pat Robertson, Stephen Strang Unpack Why Trump Followers Are So Excited Right Now

Pat Robertson interviewing me on "The 700 Club" about "Trump Aftershock" (YouTube/CBN News)
I'm proud to announce that my latest book, Trump Aftershock, releases today. In it, I detail Trump's accomplishments since being elected and, as a result, what God is doing in our nation in this hour. You can find the book at trumpaftershock.com or anywhere books are sold.

CBN founder Pat Robertson interviewed me on The 700 Club on Monday, Nov. 5, about Trump Aftershock. One thing Robertson pointed out was that I don't simply share my opinion in this book; I report the facts and back it up with pages of research. Trump Aftershockcombines my journalistic training and my Christian worldview to give readers what I hope is an honest, God-centered look at all Trump has done since he was elected president.

Interestingly enough, one of the things I admire most about Trump is what most people hate: He's a disrupter. Since becoming president, he has exposed and uprooted much of the so-called deep state. After all, he promised during his campaign to drain the swamp, and I think he's doing just that. For example, if Hillary Clinton had won the presidency, we would never have found out about Lisa Page and Peter Strzok's secret text messages. Clinton's administration would have covered the situation up, and Page and Strzok probably would have been promoted. Trump is cleaning house as no one else has because he doesn't care if people don't like him. Most other politicians, on the other hand, just want to keep everyone happy.

As I point out to Robertson, though, Trump's lack of concern for others' opinions of him has provoked a firestorm of opposition. This opposition includes radical leftist billionaires such as George Soros, Warren Buffett and Tom Steyer. These wealthy people have put millions of dollars toward hindering Trump's agenda. And that money isn't just going to campaigns; they're setting up organizations that give money to antifa and other leftist groups. There's even evidence that the liberal protests we're seeing on the news are funded by the left—even to the point of paying protesters!

But even billionaire radicals can't stop the enthusiasm that follows Trump. Just a few weeks ago, he and Cruz joined forces at a rally, which sold out because so many people wanted to come. And this doesn't just happen in a handful of places; it's everywhere Trump goes. He packed out a stadium of about 6,000 in a small Nevada town, whereas Joe Biden was rallying across the state and got fewer than 200 people.

This enthusiasm, of course, isn't widely reported, but it reveals a level of excitement welling up in the American people. I can't help but think this is because ... read more

Walk With Me - Now Think On This by Steve Martin

Walk With Me
Now Think On This
Steve Martin

“They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, " Where are you?" (Genesis 3:8-10, NASU)

During a weekend leadership gathering of staff and leaders of volunteer groups, held in the first week of November 2018, a particular time of worship was especially “sweet”, as we used to say in the 70’s. With an acoustic guitar, acoustic bass and a conga drum, the 51 participants sang their hearts out (not literally of course) as the music flowed. It was one of those times of worship when you just want to sit and soak in His presence. Ever experience that? I surely hope so.

I have come to know when the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) moves upon me to prophesy. Even after 40 or more years of sharing prophetic word and songs, I still get that feeling in my chest and stomach, prompting me to step out in faith and start speaking, or singing. Usually, I only get a word. Sometimes just a picture in my mind that I interpret at least part of its meaning.

On this particular moment, I apprehended His presence, nudging me on, wanting me to step out in faith and sing a prophetic “song of the Lord” as I like to call it. When I did, He spoke very tenderly and lovingly. Personally, I thought it was very special, as He shared His immense heart with the group.

These are the words that I can remember from that day of the song.

“Come walk with Me in My garden. Come, walk with Me in My garden. My heart is for you to know Me in a deeper way, to experience My presence of peace, love and compassion that I have for you and those you touch. Come, walk with Me in My garden. Walk with Me.” (I repeated it once or twice.)

Very simple. Very sweet. But very profound, with words sung from the Father that truly touched a spot in the hearts of those gathered.

After the song, the room became silent, as each one treasured the moment He was having with us. I could sense a deep appreciation around me. A few came to me later and shared how the song had impacted them personally.

Our God, the only true Living One of Israel and the nations, draws us to Himself in many ways. He longs to fellowship with us, even as one passionately wants to be close to their loved one, to speak personally to our spirit and soul. He waits for those moments when we give ourselves to be with Him, in the quiet times we set aside each day. He wants us to walk in His garden, with Him.

Adam walked with God the Father daily after his being created on the sixth day. I “can only imagine” what that had felt like, and yet I believe we ourselves can have the same experience today. When the Father went looking for him after sin had been committed, Adam, along with his soulmate wife Eve, had already hid. Ashamed. Afraid. Knowing that the communication with the Lord had been broken due to their disobedient action.

Restoration of fellowship with the Father only then came possible after His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, chose to sacrifice Himself on the cross, to cleanse and redeem us from sin. We had been separated from Him, beginning in that garden. Now that broken relationship that had separated us from the heavenly family has been restored. After receiving His forgiveness and mercy, each of us can fellowship once again with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Now is the time to give the Father the opportunity to walk closely together again. He looks forward to those “coffee times” when we give Him time in the morning, noon or evening that is His time with us, to have quiet fellowship together.

I encourage you to walk in His garden. That would truly touch His heart, and I know He will certainly touch yours.

Shalom and ahava (peace and love in Hebrew).
