Is Israel a Fulfillment of Prophecy? - ISRAEL TODAY with Eric Cantor

Is Israel a Fulfillment of Prophecy?

Thursday, December 11, 2014 |  Israel Today Staff
Israel’s increasingly vocal Christian antagonists have been trying to blunt support for the Jewish state by Christian Zionists by teaching that it must not be viewed as a fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
This despite the wholly unprecedented survival of an exiled people for 2,000 years and the eventual rebirth of their nation, and the fact that all this appears to line up pretty neatly with what the prophets foretold.
The reality is that the rebirth of Israel as a nation-state is the most tangible piece of evidence today that God exists and is faithful to His promises. That some leading Christian figures are teaching the opposite is a big problem, according to Tel Aviv-based Messianic Jewish congregation leader Ron Cantor.
“What is the purpose of prophecy if not to confirm the Word of God,” Cantor wonders rhetorically in a video posted to YouTube (see below).
The trick, of course, is being able to properly discern between what is prophetic and what isn’t. As Cantor goes on to explain, there are a few tests that can determine whether or not something is prophetic.
The first test is time. Despite being repeatedly attacked by numerically-superior enemies, the State of Israel has not only continued to exist these past seven decades, but has today become the region’s strongest economic and military power.
The second test is the direct fulfillment of other related prophecies. Jeremiah 14 speaks of a day when people would no longer chiefly identify God as the One who brought the Israelites out of Egypt, but rather as He who brought them home from the “land of the north.” The massive immigration of Jews from the former Soviet Union, an “exodus” that outnumbered its biblical counterpart, can not but be referring to this event.
“The evidence is pretty overwhelming,” sums up Cantor. “The only way you can conclude that Israel is not a prophetic fulfillment is if you interpret these passages with a preconceived anti-Israel, anti-Jewish bias.”

"Who were the four real heroes whose lives inspired “The Auschwitz Escape”? - Joel Rosenberg

New post on Joel C. Rosenberg's Blog

Remembering their names, and their stories.by joelcrosenberg

Two heroes who escaped.

(Washington, D.C.) -- Who were the four real heroes who
escaped from Auschwitz 70 years ago this spring, the
men whose lives inspired The Auschwitz Escape?

Today FoxNews.com has published a column I have
written giving their names and sketching out their
dramatic stories.

I hope you'll take a moment to read the whole column,
and then share it with others. Thanks so much.

REMEMBERING FOUR

They pulled off the greatest escape in human history
– from a Nazi death camp – to tell the world the truth
about Hitler, but no one knows their names.

By Joel C. Rosenberg, for FoxNews.com

To misunderstand the nature and threat of evil is to
risk being blindsided by it.

In 1933, the world was blindsided by the rise of
Adolf Hitler.

In 1939, it was stunned by the German invasion of
Poland and the Nazi leader’s bloodthirsty quest for
global domination. Perhaps most tragically, most of
the world did not understand Hitler’s plan to
annihilate the Jews until it was almost too late.

Today, we face dangerous new threats from Iran,
North Korea, and a rising czar in Russia, not
from Germany.

Yet curiously, in recent weeks Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu, former Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton, and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor
have each warned that as we confront current
challenges we must be careful to learn the lessons
of history regarding how the world failed to
understand the threat posed by Hitler and the
Nazis and deal with it decisively, before events
spun out of control.

I agree, and as an example, I would point the
extraordinary events that occurred in the
spring of 1944.

Four men pulled off the greatest escapes in all
of human history, from a Nazi death camp in
southern Poland. They did not simply escape
to save their own lives. Nor did they escape
merely to tell the world about a terrible crime
against humanity that had been – and was
being – committed. What set these true heroes
apart is that they planned and executed their
escapes in the hope of stopping a horrific
crime before it was committed – the extermination
of the Jews of Hungary.

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of
these escapes, and to draw attention to the
significance these unknown – or unremembered
– events, and the lessons they have to teach us,
I recently wrote a work of historical fiction,
"The Auschwitz Escape." I changed the names
of key figures involved so as not to put words
in their mouths that cannot be verified to be
their own. But it is my deepest hope that the
book will cause many to dig into the real history
of these remarkable heroes.

Rudolf Vrba and Alfred Wetzler were Slovak Jews.
They escaped from Auschwitz on April 7, 1944.

Arnost Rosin was also a Slovak Jew. Czeslaw
Mordowicz was a Polish Jew. Together they
escaped from Auschwitz on May 27, 1944.

Upon making it safely to
Slovak Jews....

Days after returning from his trip to Israel where he declared Jerusalem to be the undivided capital of the Jewish state, Mitt Romney formed a Jewish American coalition in an effort to bolster his bid for the presidency.

"The Jewish community has made contributions to American society that stand in amazing disproportion to its numbers, and I am genuinely honored to have so many of its leading thinkers, diplomats and political leaders support my campaign," Romney said in an announcement released Tuesday through his presidential campaign.

The coalition is co-chaired by the Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), former Hawaii Jewish Governor Linda Lingle, former Senators Norm Coleman and Rudy Boschwitz, and Adam Hasner, a Florida congressional candidate.

“Governor Romney understands that peace in the Middle East will only be achieved when Israel is secure within its borders and not the target of violence fueled by senseless hatred,” Cantor wrote in the coalition’s opening statement. “He will leave no stone unturned in the effort to keep Israel secure.”

The group's 39-member advisory board includes top advisers to his campaign who have served in previous Republican administrations, including Tevi Troy, Dov Zakheim and Den Senor.

Alluding to his recent visit to the Jewish state and highlighting a stark contrast between the current administration’s stance on Israel and his own, Romney asserted, "Having just visited Israel at a critical juncture in the history of the Middle East, I am persuaded that now, more than ever, America needs to stand with Israel."

"I will extend the hand of friendship because our partnership is not merely a strategic alliance but a force for good in the world,” he said.

The main purpose of the coalition, he said, is “to reach out to the Jewish community and help increase support for the Governor which in my mind has been escalating daily.”
