A Gideon Stood Up in Texas - DAVID LANE/AMERICAN RENEWAL PROJECT

A Gideon Stood Up in Texas

The Texas Legislature heard debate last week on Senate Bill 6, a so-called "bathroom bill" requiring people to use the bathroom or shower facility that corresponds to their biological sex at birth. Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick is leading this charge in the state capitol of Austin.
Dan Forest, Lt. Governor of North Carolina, traveled to Austin to testify before the legislature in support of the Texas bill, which is fashioned after North Carolina's House Bill 2 (HB2). You may recall that last July the National Basketball Association pulled its All-Star Game out of Charlotte to aid a growing boycott of North Carolina that began in opposition to HB2.
The secular left has been on a roll for much of the last decade. As a result, they seem to have developed an exaggerated opinion of their clout, which does not correspond with social and electoral reality.
A popular and cool Barack Obama lied at the Saddleback presidential debate in 2008. Pastor Rick Warren: "Define marriage." Obama: "I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now, for me as a Christian—for me—for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union. God's in the mix."
A democratic republic, where ultimate authority and power is derived from its citizens, remains viable only as long as people can, on the whole, rely on candidates and elected officials to tell the truth.
Once Obama was elected president, in flat-out contradiction to his word, he led the U.S. gay rights revolution globally, even using American embassies around the world to promote same-sex intercourse and marriage. This was all in defiance of U.S. citizens who had voted in state-after-state, supporting traditional marriage with overwhelming majorities. Consider:
  • Mississippi—86 percent
  • Tennessee—81 percent
  • Louisiana—78 percent
  • South Carolina—78 percent
  • Georgia—76 percent
  • Oklahoma—76 percent
  • Texas—76 percent
  • Arkansas—75 percent
  • Kentucky—75 percent
  • North Dakota—73 percent
  • Missouri—72 percent
  • Alabama—71 percent
  • Kansas—70 percent
  • Nebraska—70 percent
  • Montana—67 percent
  • Nevada—67 percent
  • Utah—66 percent
  • Idaho—63 percent
  • Florida—62 percent
  • Ohio—62 percent
  • North Carolina—61 percent
  • Michigan—59 percent
  • Wisconsin—59 percent
  • Oregon—57 percent
  • Virginia—57 percent
  • Arizona—56 percent
  • Colorado—56 percent
  • California—52 percent
  • South Dakota—52 percent
With President Obama's encouragement of gay pride parades in major cities around the nation, diplomats taking part in parades around the world, embassies flying the rainbow flag beside the Stars and Stripes, and six openly homosexual ambassadors—Obama and the left were large and in charge. It must have seemed like a small matter to bulldoze over the 61 percent of North Carolinians who voted in 2012 to ban same-sex marriage in their state.
Then a Gideon appeared on the public stage. Dan Forest, although up for reelection in November 2016, stood for the unseen against the seen.
First, the seen: "More than 100 top executives from major companies, including major Charlotte employers like Bank of America, have signed a letter opposing the "anti-LGBT" legislation."
But refusing to be cowed, Forest stated:
What is happening here [in North Carolina] is so much bigger than a basketball game. A sovereign state is being blackmailed by a private business (NBA) who is being threatened by a national LGBT lobbying effort, all to force North Carolina to open female restrooms, showers and locker rooms up to men. All of this was done under the guise of "inclusiveness'" and other politically correct buzzwords. But the reality is that had we not blocked the Charlotte Bathroom Ordinance from going into effect, sex offenders and pedophiles would have had full access to our women and children in bathrooms around the state. I enjoy the NBA and wanted them to hold the All-Star game in Charlotte, but if that game comes with strings attached, strings that would expose women and children to danger, molestation, assault and voyeurism, then no thank you. Take your business elsewhere, and I have no apologies about saying that and never will. The NBA knows the economic hit North Carolina will take from this decision. I wish the NBA would likewise acknowledge the pain, sorrow and devastation a child or woman feels when they are exploited. We will never value a dollar over a woman's or child's safety and security.
It's worth noting that Pat McCrory, the Republican Governor of North Carolina, vacillated on HB2–and that voters did not re-elect him to office in November. In contrast, Lt. Governor Forest "went on to win his re-election by more votes than any other elected candidate in the state, including President Trump."
Which brings us back around to Texas SB 6.
In a stunning turn of events, the Texas Association of Business and Chambers of Commerce president Chris Wallace, the most influential business lobby in Texas, testified before the legislature last week and argued for transgender bathrooms in Texas. Wallace filled his testimony with fear and misinformation, stating that SB 2 "could cost the state up to $8.5 billion and more than 100,000 jobs, according to a Texas Association of Business report."
But then a Gideon appeared on the public stage, in the form of Texas state Senator Kelly Hancock. Watch the 11-minute video above.
We must reestablish prayer in America's churches, led by the senior pastor, if America is to survive. But that said, prayer is not all that is necessary. We have relinquished public education, higher learning, media, big business, federal courts, the Supreme Court and Hollywood to the godless, secular left. Men and women of Issachar must run for local office and bring biblical values to the public square in 2017-2018.
But there is good news, as Gideons and Rahabs are beginning to stand.

North Carolina's Lt. Governor Just Gave an Epic Response to the NCAA

BOB ESCHLIMAN  CHARISMA NEWS

The NCAA became the latest sports organization to pull events out of the state of North Carolina following its decision to ban opposite-sex use of bathrooms, showers and locker rooms.
As a result of the "controversial" House Bill 2, the NCAA yanked seven championship tournament events across several sports, including several 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament games slated for Greensboro next spring, from the state. The decision applies only for the 2016-17 academic year.
But Lt. Gov. Dan Forest offered an epic response:
The NCAA's action sends a message to every female athlete and female fan attending their events that their privacy and security in a bathroom, shower or locker room isn't worth the price of a ticket to a ballgame.
We have seen the NCAA's attitude toward women before when they stood by and did nothing during the rapes at Baylor. For years, we've seen the NBA turn a blind eye toward women victims of domestic abuse at the hands of their star players.
Why should we be surprised now at the NCAA continuing this pattern of discrimination and degradation of women? The line has now been drawn in the sand, first by Hollywood, now by the NBA and NCAA, either accept their 'progressive sexual agenda' or pay the price.
North Carolina will not play that game. We value our women too much to put a price tag on their heads.

An Open Letter to Bruce Springsteen and His Band - MICHAEL BROWN CHARISMA NEWS

Bruce Springsteen canceled his North Carolina performance.

In the Line of Fire, by Michael Brown
Dear Bruce,
As a resident of North Carolina since 2003, I read with interest that you decided to cancel your April 10th concert in Greensboro because of HB2, the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act.
In your statement, you explained that, in your view, the bill is "an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress."
You added that it was time for you and your band "to show solidarity for those freedom fighters" (speaking of transgender activists), and you ended your statement with these powerful words: "Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry—which is happening as I write—is one of them. It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backward instead of forward."
I also read that your guitarist  has likened HB2 to an "evil virus" that is spreading through the United States in the form of similar legislation.
These are strong words, and they represent strong convictions.
So let me first commend you and your band members for putting your principles before your livelihood, even to the disappointment of your North Carolina fans.
I have read that you regretted not performing at the 1985 Live Aid concert in Wembley, and perhaps this is your way of saying, "I do care, and I'm here to make a difference."
Whatever your motivation, I admire anyone who puts morality before money.
My question to you and your band is simply this: In boycotting North Carolina and siding against HB2, did you really side with morality? Are you truly standing with "freedom fighters"?
I'm assuming you read HB2 for yourself and you're not just listening to media reports attacking the bill or, worse still, getting your talking points from biased lobbyist groups like the Human Rights Campaign. (If you're not really familiar with the bill, then click here and here and here.)
So please allow me to ask you some questions.
First, how do you know if someone is really "transgender" or not? Is it determined entirely by how they feel about themselves? If so, do you think that it might be hard to make laws based entirely on how people feel? Did you ever stop to consider that?
Second, what's the difference between someone with "gender dysphoria" (or, as it used to be called, "gender identity disorder") and someone, say, with schizophrenia or "multiple personality disorder" or some other psychological condition? In other words, if a man is a biological and chromosomal male but believes he is a woman, is he actually a woman, or does he have a psychological disorder?
If he does have a psychological disorder, should we try to treat that disorder or should we celebrate that disorder? And is it right to call biological males who feel they are women and biological women who feel they are men "freedom fighters"? Perhaps that's not the best use of the term.
If you are deeply offended that I would dare suggest that many transgender individuals are dealing with a psychological disorder, could you kindly point me to the definitive scientific literature that explains that these biological males are actually females and these biological females are actually males?
I'm not saying they don't deserve compassion.
To the contrary, I'm saying that's exactly what they deserve: compassion, not celebration.
But perhaps I'm being too abstract here, so let's get really practical.
Let's say that a 6' 4" male who used to play professional football and who has secretly agonized over his gender identity for years finally determines that he must be true to himself and live as a woman.
Do you think it might be traumatic for a little girl using the library bathroom to see this big man walk into her room wearing a dress and a wig? Should we take her feelings into account, or is she not important? What if that was your granddaughter? Would you care if she was traumatized? And when you speak of "the human rights of all of our citizens" does that include little girls like this?
I understand that this gentleman will have difficulties should he decide to dress and live as a woman, but that is still a choice he is making, and it is not fair to impose his struggles on innocent little children, is it?
And what if this same man, whom we'll assume is not a sexual predator, wants to share the YMCA locker room with your wife and daughter, standing there in his underwear as they come out of the shower stalls wrapped in towels. Is this fair to them?
Let's take this one step further.
If any man who claims to be a woman can use women's bathrooms and locker rooms, then how do we keep the sexual predators out? I've asked people to watch this short video, giving examples of male heterosexual predators who donned women's clothing to get into the ladies' rooms, and I'd encourage you to watch it too.
Without HB2, rapists and voyeurs and pedophiles would have free access to our women and daughters in the safety of their own bathrooms and locker rooms.
Since you don't like HB2—indeed, your guitarist called it an "evil virus"—what's your plan to keep the predators out? How can we tell the difference between a "genuine" transgender person and a sexual predator? Since everyone knows you as "The Boss," what would you do to keep the ladies and children safe?
And one final question.
When you booked the concert in Greenboro, the laws in North Carolina were just as they are today: In public facilities, people had to use the bathrooms and locker rooms that corresponded to their biological sex.
Why, then, did you agree to come in the first place? Why cancel the concert when things today are just what they were six months ago?
Again, I appreciate your sincerity, but I question your judgment.
In your zeal to do what is right, you have actually done what is wrong.
