Shabbat Inspiration

This week's Torah portion (Genesis 41:1-44:17) describes Joseph naming his sons in Egypt, revealing his innermost feelings and mindset in exile. Despite ruling as second in command over all of Egypt, Joseph refers to Egypt as a "land of affliction." He never forgot where he truly belonged, and yearned to return to his father's house in the Land of Israel. In Hebrew, the popular name Ephraim means "fruitful." For Every 40, There is a 41 - SHAWN A. AKERS CHARISMA MAGAZINE

For every season of frustration, God has a season of breakthrough for you. (iStock photo )

For Every 40, There is a 41

Get Out of the Boat, with Shawn Akers
Have you ever had those times when you've doubted God and said to yourself, "He just doesn't care about me?" If you're honest with yourself, the answer is a cowering "yes."
Ashamedly, I know I have. Probably too many times to count.
There are times when the expectations of life don't match reality, and frustration sets in. It's a time when the enemy can steal your confidence and your joy. It's easy to become stressed and doubtful of God's Word.
For me, that's when divine appointment comes. God knows how to deliver a good word at just the right time, and He did it recently through my pastor, Ed Garvin, who preached a sermon called "Reality Check: When Expectations and Reality Collide" (the sermon starts at 16:20).
We all know the story of Joseph and the trials and tribulations he went through during his young life, before he became an extremely influential man. However, I had never heard it preached this way before.
Joseph was a man of destiny, and he sensed that at a very early age. He was convinced, as Pastor Garvin said, "that his tomorrow held greatness." Indeed it did, but little did Joseph know of the hardships he would endure before he reached that potential.
After his brothers unexpectedly turned on him and sold him into slavery, Joseph served a man named Potiphar, and he began to find favor with his master. Yet God knew better than Joseph that Joseph wasn't ready for his destiny. Joseph still had ego issues with which he had to deal, and more trouble loomed on the horizon.
Because Joseph shunned her sexual advances, Potiphar's wife accused Joseph of sexually attacking her, and Potiphar had Joseph thrown into prison. According to Genesis 39:2, "The Lord was with Joseph," yet he was imprisoned. Sound familiar? The Lord is also with you, yet your trials and tribulations overwhelm you.
Most of you know the rest of the story: Joseph languished in prison for many years, but was brought out by Pharaoh because of the gift God bestowed upon him to interpret dreams. Joseph then became, as Pastor Garvin put it, the "second most influential man on the planet" and realized his destiny. In other words, something incredible happened between Genesis chapter 40 and Genesis chapter 41. Joseph matured in the Lord. Romans 8:28 says, "We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Sound familiar? For every 40, there is a 41.
  • God rained his judgment upon the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. On the 41st day, a rainbow appeared and God vowed never to destroy the earth again.
  • The Israelites wandered through the desert for 40 years. In year 41, they reached the Promised Land.
  • For 40 days, Goliath hammered on the armies of Israel. But on the 41st day, David showed up and slew Goliath.
  • For 40 days and nights, Jesus fasted and prayed in the wilderness. On the 41st day, Satan left Him and the angels ministered to Him (Matt. 4:11).
For every season of difficulty, there is a season of destiny. So what should you do during your season of difficulty in order to help find your season of destiny? As Pastor Garvin says:
  1. Recognize it as God's course of preparation. You need to be refined.
  2. Respond to the needs of others. Stop the "woe is me" mentality and focus on others who need help.
  3. Resist the urge to compromise. Keep your integrity and don't take shortcuts.
  4. Remain patient in the process. As Joyce Meyer says, "the longer you complain about your situation, the longer you will remain in your wilderness."
  5. Realize your "41 moment." It's coming. God wants it for you so badly.
Joseph needed wisdom and humility, and it took 13 years of tribulation to find it. I've been through a similar process. But thankfully, a good friend has prophesied over me that my time is coming, if I remain faithful to the Lord. Thank you for the good word, Kathy DeGraw.
Unlike Joseph, hopefully it won't take 13 years for you to have your rough edges sanded. But you can rest assured God knows exactly when you are ready to fulfill your destiny and He won't pull you out of your season of testing—or your 40—before He feels you are ready. Get ready to fulfill your destiny.
And as I always like to say, "there is that."

Here's Why So Many Biblical Leaders Were Shepherds ✡ "A Shepherd with his Brothers" - ISRAEL365

Joseph was seventeen years old and he was a shepherd with his brothers by the flock.

GENESIS (37:2)

יוֹסֵף בֶּן שְׁבַע עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה הָיָה רֹעֶה אֶת אֶחָיו בַּצֹּאן

בראשית לז:ב

Shabbat Inspiration

This week's Torah portion (Genesis 37-39) brings us to the story of Joseph, a shepherdamong his brothers. It is no coincidence that so many of our Biblical heroes were shepherds. The simple profession was ideal for two reasons. On the one hand, the abundance of time for quiet reflection and meditation allowed the shepherd to develop an intimate relationship with the Lord. Additionally, shepherds who excelled in their work acquired a deep sensitivity to the needs of each and every sheep in their flock. What he learned as a young shepherd influenced Joseph to become a paradigm for all future generations in the service of God and the service of man. Learn more in the Israel Bible Reading Plan, where we follow the weekly Torah portions read in the synagogue and provide important overviews, insightful topics and guided discussion questions that take place in a “virtual classroom.”

Nov. 29, 1947: A Vote that Changed the World

On November 29, 1947, the UN voted to end the British Mandate in the Holy Land. A vote that lasted a mere 3 minutes changed the course of history and brought 2000 years of Jewish exile to an end.

Weekly Torah Portion:
From the Sale of Joseph
to the Seeds of Moshiach

Two divergent stories are found in this week's parsha: the sale of Joseph by his brothers, followed by the story of Tamar and Judah. Our Sages teach a beautiful lesson about the juxtaposition of these stories in the Torah.

Book: "The Mystical Meanings of Dreams"

Dream play a prominent role in the biblical account of Joseph's life. In "The Mystical Meanings of Dreams" by Rabbi Avraham Arieh Trugman, the reader is taken into the concealed realms of the mind and the subconscious, as well as into the hidden dimensions of the Torah, in order to understand the origin and significance of dreams. By comprehending the psychological and prophetic nature of our dreams, as well as analyzing the many dreams revealed in the Bible, we learn how to understand dreams and use them to nurture our own spiritual and emotional growth. Prophecy: God Is About to Release Mantles and Impartations of Wisdom - LANA VAWSER CHARISMA NEWS

Many of you are being refined as pure gold.

Many of you are being refined as pure gold. (iStock photo )

Prophecy: God Is About to Release Mantles and Impartations of Wisdom

I had an encounter with the Lord recently during which He showed me a representation of many of His people standing before the Lord. Jesus was standing before them in a white robe and gold sandals. I saw such purity over the ones that were standing before Him.
I saw Jesus was holding a crown and it was gold and on fire at the same time. I saw Jesus place it on heads. He then spoke:
"There are great mantles, impartations and significant increases of wisdom being released over you as you have been tried by and through fire and you have been proven faithful and are coming out as gold."
The crown represented not only identity in Him, but also the mantle/increase/impartations of heavenly wisdom being released over lives, but also it was on fire, because there has been a "trying by fire" and now you are carrying the fire of God for revival.
Purity and impartations/mantles/increases of wisdom that are being released now are about to marry in a whole new way. There is going to be a pure form of divine heavenly wisdom into the personal lives and households of many of God's people, and it will flow through these ones on a whole new level.
As the wisdom of God is shared, "suddenlys" will be birthed. There is such a weighty wisdom that is being released across the body of Christ to those who have been positioned, have walked through the fire faithfully and have been asking for His wisdom.
He is pouring out significant increases of this wisdom on many who have "paid the price for wisdom," as many have walked through the fire of trial, the trial of opposition and the fire of pruning and purging. Yet you have kept your face and heart set toward Him as a flint. The purity of heart that has been maintained through the fire is now becoming a platform for the increase of this wisdom.
Many who are receiving the mantle of heavenly wisdom coupled with His fire, not only will you be positioned before many to release significant insight that will bring long-awaited breakthroughs and the breaker anointing released, but I saw a positioning before kings and those of great influence. There is going to be a prophetic sign of the increase of wisdom spreading through the body of Christ as many will begin to see those of influence calling on the people of God for wisdom, insight and strategy.
The days of Joseph and Esther are upon us. Those who have been prepared in the fire and now being catapulted into areas of significant influence for the kingdom of God to release heavenly wisdom.
Stay positioned for the wisdom of God to be released in significant ways over your life as you have been seeking Him for it. As it flows to you and through you, He is going to amaze you with His insight and strategy that bypass the natural. The awe of God is going to be restored in significant ways across the body of Christ as a new level of wisdom will be released, received and implemented.
Trust Him as He releases His wisdom to you. For I saw the Spirit of God speaking and releasing His wisdom which was completely opposite to natural, expected ways. Many are going to find His wisdom in the most unexpected ways and leadings of His Spirit, but will lead His people and those they share with to depths of knowing Him and seeing Him move that they have not experienced before.
Don't fight the leadings. Trust Him completely and go with His flow. It may not make sense as you "step forward." But in taking the steps forward in faith, following His wisdom is going to help you take more steps forward and break more ground than you would have if you followed your natural logic.
I saw many transitioning from the "vein of natural thinking" into the "vein of heavenly wisdom" in alignment with His Word that was flowing from His heart, leading them and those around them to greater life. Many of you may feel as though you are being led into things in a backward way. But by His Spirit, you are moving further forward than ever.
Significant divine ideas, strategies and blueprints carrying the weighty wisdom of God when put into action are going to see some of the most groundbreaking demonstrations of His power and glory released in these days of accelerated breakthrough.

Prophetic Destiny: 3 More Tests of an Overcomer - Che Ahn

Here are more tests to pass before you will see your prophetic dreams come to light.

Here are more tests to pass before you will see your prophetic dreams come to light. (iStock photo )

Prophetic Destiny: 3 More Tests of an Overcomer

Get ready to step into a new season.
September 13-15 marked the beginning of a new year on the Jewish calendar (5776). While nowadays we use the Greco-Roman calendar system, I feel the Jewish calendar has prophetic significance, and I always sense something stirring in the spirit around this time of year.
Usually coinciding with Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), September is also a significant month for me personally: It's when I got married to the love of my life, when I was ordained and when I received a prophetic dream to move to Los Angeles.
This Jewish New Year is extra special because it is the Year of Jubilee. On the Jewish calendar, years are observed in seven-year cycles, with a sabbatical year on the seventh year. Then at the culmination of every seven cycles (a total of 49 years) comes the 50th year: the Year of Jubilee, when all agricultural work ceased, all land was returned to its original owner and all slaves were released into freedom! (See Leviticus 25:8-24.)
God wants to unload His immeasurable blessings on you in this New Year!
If you want to walk in the fullness of what God is doing, you must partner with His prophetic plan both for the church as a whole and for your own journey of faith.
On Tuesday, I shared the first two tests you must overcome to see your prophetic dream come to pass as you pursue your God-given destiny. Today let's take a look at the next three:
3. The Purity Test. In Genesis 39 the story of Joseph continues as he faced a test that every person has to go through: the purity test.
"Now Joseph was well-built and handsome, and after a while his master's wife took notice of Joseph and said, 'Come to bed with me!' But he refused" (Gen. 39:6-8).
Joseph passed the purity test with flying colors. What was his secret? He had the right perspective that was aligned with the fear of the Lord: "How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?" (Gen. 39:9).
If you want God's blessing and favor, you must flee from immorality—and run straight to the Lord!
4. The Prison Test. The next phase of Joseph's journey was another test of character. After being falsely accused of rape, Joseph was sent to the king's prison (Gen. 39:17-20). There he was sustained by the Lord as he kept his heart from bitterness due to injustice.
To overcome the prison test, you must persevere and hold onto hope that is anchored in God. Perseverance means fighting the battle while you are waiting.
Perseverance produces character (Rom. 5:3-5), and character is the key to supporting your destiny. Deep character comes through deep trials.
5. The Prosperity Test. Finally, through a series of God-orchestrated events—including extraordinary prophetic insight that came through the interpretation of dreams (Gen. 40-41)—Joseph came into a place of power and influence as his prophetic destiny unraveled (Gen. 40:38-44).
The final test boils down to how you handle prosperity and favor when it's given to you. It's not just about reaching your destiny but what you do with your destiny.
When God prospers you, it's your responsibility to intentionally give Him all the glory.
Joseph's story is a tale of trials and testing, but it's also a testimony of God's faithfulness to complete the work He started.
God has a dream for you! His thoughts for you are higher than yours, and you are called to greatness in His Kingdom!

Why I Have No Fear of Economic Collapse - Michael Snyder

The inevitable stock market crash is nothing to fear if you're in the right place with God.

Why I Have No Fear of Economic Collapse

I am not afraid of an economic collapse. Coming from someone that runs "The Economic Collapse Blog", I am sure that sounds like a very odd statement. But it is true. I have no fear of economic collapse, even though I am fully convinced that the hardest times that any of us have ever experienced are ahead.
I spend countless hours in front of my computer immersed in deeply disturbing information, and yet I sleep more soundly at night than I ever have before. In fact, my wife and I seek to live in a constant state of "shalom," which is the Hebrew word for peace. So how is this possible? How can "the economic collapse guy" not be absolutely overwhelmed by fear, depression and paranoia?
Unlike so many who write about these things, I believe that preparation for what is ahead goes far beyond the physical. So I am constantly stressing the need for mental, emotional and especially spiritual preparation. Personally, I have absolutely no idea how atheists are going to make it through what is coming.
They don't understand why they are here, they don't understand why history is unfolding the way it is, and they have absolutely no hope for the future beyond this life. If you greatly fear death and you can't stand to lose the possessions that you have accumulated, the years ahead are going to be exceedingly difficult for you.
My relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ gives my life meaning and purpose. He took the broken pieces of my life and turned them into a beautiful thing, and He can do the same for you.
I also strongly advocate physical preparation for the hard years that are coming. My wife and I work very hard to store up food and supplies. The funny thing is that there are Christians out there that actually accuse me of being "anti-faith" for doing these things. Apparently they believe that we should all just sit around watching television while we wait for God to do everything for us.
But that isn't how it works. In the Bible, we see that exercising faith almost always involves action. Noah, Joseph and others acted in faith based on the warnings that they had received, and they were commended for it.
Are we acting on the warnings that we have received? For much more on this subject, please see my previous article entitled "Is It 'Anti-Faith' to Prepare for the Coming Economic Collapse?"
Knowledge and preparation help to eliminate fear. If you understand what is happening, and you know why it is happening, and you have prepared for what is happening, it makes the challenges that are ahead of you easier to tackle.
When you were in school, who got the most freaked out by quizzes and tests?
It was those that were not prepared for them of course.
In the years ahead, a lot of people are going to be jumping off of buildings, jumping in front of trains and so on. Others will plunge into a dark hole of depression and despair that they will never come back from.
The vast majority of those people will have never listened to the warnings and will have done nothing to get prepared.
Those who accuse me and others like me of "spreading fear" have got it completely backwards.
We are not "spreading fear" at all. We are spreading hope. There is hope in understanding what is happening and there is hope in getting prepared.
The preparations that are being made right now all over the nation are going to save countless numbers of lives. Those who are mocking preppers and that are telling everyone that everything is going to be just fine are going to deeply regret doing so someday.
Although I will admit that sometimes preppers are prone to a "bunker mentality", and that is not the right approach.
Now is not the time to dig a hole and try to hide from the world.
You were born for such a time as this. It is when times are the darkest that the greatest heroes are needed. Personally, my wife and I believe that the greatest move of God the world has ever seen is coming, and we very much want to be part of it.
Yes, the years ahead are going to be extremely challenging. In fact, I don't think that any of us can truly grasp the horror that is coming because we don't really have any frame of reference for it.
It is kind of like trying to explain to someone that was blind from birth what a tree looks like. You can spend hours describing the tree, but unless you have some sort of frame of reference, the understanding simply is not going to be there.
Sometimes I try to sit down and write about what is ahead of us, but I find that words fail me. For example, I recently did a piece entitled "The Last Days of Normal Life in America" that was very popular, but the truth is that it was woefully inadequate because I don't really have a good frame of reference for what we are about to face. I don't know that too many people out there actually do.
As "watchmen on the wall," those of us who are trying to warn this nation are just trying to do the best we can with what we have.
And we aren't just sitting behind our computers "cursing the darkness" either.
A few of my fellow "watchmen" have joined with me to try to do something special. Nathan Leal, Benjamin Baruch, Lyn Leahz and I have organized a nationwide call to prayer and repentance on the weekend of Sept. 18-20. It is going to be held at the Sandpoint Events Center in Sandpoint, Idaho, and we already know of people coming in from nine different states and Canada for this event.
In addition, similar gatherings are being organized all around the nation, and thousands that cannot attend an event in person are going to be able to participate by watching the livestream on Lyn Leahz's 69,000-subscriber YouTube channel.
In the end, there is a limit to what each one of us can do individually, but if we work together we can collectively make a great difference.
Now is not a time for fear. Perfect love casts out fear. This is a time for the Remnant to rise up and to spread a message of hope even in the midst of all the chaos and darkness that is coming.
Yes, the times ahead are going to be more chaotic that any of us could probably imagine right now. But let us reject all fear, depression and despair, and let us endeavor to become people of great faith, great hope and great love.
