Dutch Sheets: "Strengthen Yourself in the Lord and Trust in Him" - THE ELIJAH LIST

Dutch Sheets: "Strengthen Yourself in the Lord and Trust in Him"

Jan 14, 2016
Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:
Dutch Sheets is a dear friend who has taught me many things.
He has amazing wisdom and insight into God and into His Scriptures.
In this profound Word from the Lord, God is cautioning us to Remember HIM and trust in HIM for our strength, even in the good times.
Here Dutch says:

"In this New Year, God is releasing grace to trust Him more. Lean into it, take hold of it. As you strengthen yourself in the Lord, He will add strength to your abilities and release creative thoughts, wise solutions, divine appointments, great favor, good contracts, and timely sales. Struggling ministries will soar in God's strength and families in need of help will experience breakthrough. The Lord will even bring good from your past defeats."
It's going to be a great and successful year! Let's be sure to put our Trust in the LORD so that we can succeed!
In HIM,
Steve Shultz

The new year is such a wonderful time, offering us the opportunity to look back on the road we've walked, and then dream with God to set bigger goals and tread higher ground. As this pivotal year has drawn to a close, troubles abound in our nation and abroad; even so some still find themselves joyfully celebrating great victories in the Lord.
God has blessed us with His goodness and hope for what lies ahead. While reflecting upon these things, the Lord reminds me of a paramount principle He long ago seared upon my heart. It is a fundamental truth that can help us stay in God's will and fulfill His intended purpose for our life.
Horses and Chariots
When an alliance of enemy armies threatened Joshua and the people of Israel in their quest to possess the land promised to them, God encouraged them not to be afraid, promising to deliver the enemy into their hands. But the assurance of victory was accompanied by a set of critical instructions for maintaining their success. The Lord told them to hamstring the horses and burn the chariots they had acquired as spoils of war (Joshua 11:6).(Photo via Wikipedia)
To hamstring a horse is to cut a particular tendon so as not to kill or completely maim the horse, but certainly render it useless for engaging in battle or pulling chariots of war. Disabling the horses and destroying the chariots was God's way of ensuring Israel would not become self-sufficient and dependent on their own military strength and ability for winning future battles. Instead, they would be reminded to trust Him.
The Lord set this safeguard in place because there was a tendency among the people of Israel, as there is within all of us, to lean on Him in times of great need, yet fall back on our own abilities and strengths when our struggles wane. Psalm 106 illustrates this unfortunate truth. After God so powerfully delivered Israel from slavery, they quickly forgot His miraculous works and did not seek His counsel (verse 13).
History repeated itself after Israel's conquest of Jericho when they set out to take Ai, a small and seemingly weak city. Having become overconfident and self-sufficient after miraculously winning the battle at Jericho, they did not seek the Lord's counsel for taking Ai. Attempting to go against the enemy in their own strength and ability, they suffered a most humiliating defeat.
Friends, especially after we've experienced times of great success, breakthrough, or promotion, we cannot forget our source of strength! We must rely on the Lord even more, with all the "more" He entrusts to us.
Lean On The Lord
In this season, God is attempting to give us a greater understanding of His authority and strength for breakthrough in our personal lives and family, for all of our labors, and for this nation as a whole. But we won't grasp the concept of operating successfully in God's delegated authority if, even unconsciously, there is any form of self-sufficiency in us. We must recognize that each day we need God's wisdom for our decisions and His strength for everything we undertake.(Photo via flickr)
There are times in life when we are traveling upon what seems to be familiar ground. In those instances, it is important that one not give place to presumptuous self-sufficiency with a "been there, done that" mentality. Even in the seemingly easy times, we must be careful to heed the words of Proverbs 3:5-8:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones."

Boast In The Lord
There are other times when the Lord will take us into situations where we feel a degree of intimidation, facing challenges that seem beyond our natural abilities. Following the example of the Apostle Paul, we go to the Lord and say, "Lord, I want to glory in my weakness, because You then can be strong in me," (2 Corinthians 10:17; 12:10; Psalm 20:7; Joel 3:10b).
Our greatest asset can be our area of weakness if we allow it to drive us to God, His vast wisdom, His limitless ability and His magnificent strength, rather than trust in our own.
"Thus says the LORD, 'Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me.'" Jeremiah 9:23-24a
"The people who know their God will display strength and take action. Those who have insight among the people will give understanding to the many..."Daniel 11:32b-33a
The Lord desires to accomplish great exploits through those who take time to know Him intimately and hear what's on His heart. He will cause them to rise up in great strength and take bold, strategic action that leads from victory to victory, bringing glory to His name.
New Strength For The New Year
Let's make this simple yet vital principle our plumb line for moving into the New Year: Trust God, not ourselves. In doing so, we won't forget the Lord after witnessing great miracles. We won't let our guard down or act in presumption after experiencing victory. And we won't become like a weakened Samson who awakened from sleep thinking, "I will shake myself free and overthrow my enemies as I've always done," not realizing that the Lord had departed from him (Judges 16:20). (Photo via flickr)
In this New Year, God is releasing grace to trust Him more. The Lord will even bring good from your past defeats.
In this coming year, let's work hard and be diligent, being mindful of His faithfulness, and look to Him for all we need. My friend, put your trust in Him!

"From the Beginning of the Year" ✡ Fireworks over Jerusalem - ISRAEL365

It is a Land that the Lord, your God, seeks out; the eyes of the Lord, your God, are always upon it, from thebeginning of the year to end of year.

Shabbat Inspiration

Did you know that according to Judaism, the year we are now in is really 5776, and is counted from Creation and the birth of Adam? An unbelievable lesson emerges from the wisdom of biblical Hebrew and the word for man, ‘Adam,’ which stands for Adam, David and Messiah. Jewish tradition teaches that the greatest man, the ultimate descendant of the very first Adam - the Messiah - will come from the lineage of King David who lived around the year 2900 from the creation of the world. King David was at the halfway point of history, and we now stand on the threshold of the Messianic age. In these days, bring blessings down to the world by standing with Israel and supporting her national blood bank, Heart to Heart, which saves lives throughout the Land and provides emergency medical care.

Blood for the Soldiers

Watch this amazing account of an Israeli soldier who was seriously injured by Hezbollah forces, and was ultimately saved after emergency surgery where he received 10 units of donated blood. Heart to Heart supplies 97% of Israel’s blood, and all of the blood of the Israel Defense Forces.

Billy Graham & Samaritan's Purse Donate 2 Ambulances to Israel

Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse donated two life-saving ambulances last month to Heart to Heart. The ambulances will be stationed in the northern Galilee and Golan Heights regions, and will help all Israelis, including Jews, Arabs, Christians, Druze and anyone else in need of care.

"Noah Ride the Wave" DVD of an Israeli Theatre Production

This 2-Disc DVD set is from the Israeli “Raise Your Spirits” theater company. It depicts the trials of Noah, the man destined to build an Ark that will save his family and the animal kingdom from God’s destructive flood.

Prophetic words to Steve Martin (Love For His People) received at MorningStar 12.31.15

Prophetic words to Steve Martin (Love For His People) received at MorningStar Ministries
12.31.15

Here are some recorded prophetic words given to myself, Steve Martin (Love For His People Founder), which I received at MorningStar Ministries in Fort Mill, SC on New Year's Eve, Friday, 12.31.15 at 2:50 pm. A two-member prophetic team spoke the words of encouragement from the Lord Jesus.

I share this so you too can know and believe that the power of the supernatural prophetic gift that the Lord Jesus gives to us, for encouragement and more along the way, is for us today. The gift of prophecy, along with all the other gifts of the Holy Spirit, didn't end 2000 years ago. The Holy Spirit still operates through His people, speaking life, hope and truth.

You Can Have a New Beginning in 2016—You Really Can

Watchman on the Wall, by Jennifer LeClaire

JENNIFER LECLAIRE  charisma news

Jennifer LeClaire is now sharing her reflections and revelations through Walking in the Spirit. Listen at charismapodcastnetwork.com.

About this time last year, the Holy Spirit told me 2015 was the year of new beginnings. I embraced that. I preached it all over the country. I heard many testimonies of the wonderful new things the Lord birthed in people's lives.
2015 was a year of new beginnings for me on many levels. In fact, it was one of the most meaningful years of my ministry. I entered into new assignments—including being named the first female editor of Charisma magazine—launched for a number of intercessory prayer initiatives, birthed awakeningtv.com and joined the New Breed Revival Network. I believe all of this—combined with the labor of many others in the body of Christ—is ultimately unto a Third Great Awakening.
This year, I released my best-selling devotional, Mornings With the Holy Spirit: Listening Daily to the Still, Small Voice of God. That was followed by The Next Great Move of God: An Appeal to Heaven for Spiritual Awakening, which shines lights on God's plans for America even in the face of doom and gloom. I traveled across the country doing media appearances and preaching prophetic messages of hope.
In South Florida, I'm building the Awakening House of Prayer to raise up an army of intercessors who will labor in prayer to see God's will done in the earth. My latest books, Jezebel's Puppets: Exposing the Agenda of False Prophets and Revival Hubs Rising: Revealing a New Ministry Paradigm for the Next Great Move of God, are coming out any day now, and I've got several new projects in the works, including a prophecy Bible and a new spiritual warfare book.
You Can Have a New Beginning
I didn't tell you all that to boast—except maybe in a Lord who can do wonders through someone like me. You may not know my testimony, but I got saved in a jail after being accused of a crime I didn't commit—after my husband abandoned me with our 2-year-old baby nearly two decades ago. I never forget where God has brought me from and I know what it's like to need a new beginning.
You can have a new beginning too. Now is the time to determine that you will press past the past and press into a new beginning. You can birth those new things that Lord has put in your spiritual womb. You can't make it happen in your own strength. I mean to say that you can't do God's part. But you can do your part. As we wrap up 2015, the year of new beginnings, let me leave you with some lessons I shared across the country this year that helped many break into God's new thing.
1. Give your will over to the Lord.
What you are birthing may seem scary to you or it may seem insignificant to you. It may seem overwhelming to you. We can take a lesson from Mary. It's time to face your fears—fear of the unknown, fear of failing, fear of rejection, fear of transition. When the angel came to Mary and told her she would birth the Son of God, she ultimately responded: "I am the servant of the Lord. May it be unto me according to your word" (Luke 1:38).
2. Be willing to adjust your schedule.
When you are expecting a baby, you are preparing for its birth. Women, we change the way we eat, the way we sleep and how we spend our time. As we prepare to enter a year of new beginnings and birthings, we must be willing to adjust our schedules and to spend more time in the Word, in worship and in prayer. That may mean giving up other things. "Therefore, since we are encompassed with such a great cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us" (Heb. 12:1, emphasis added).
3. Be willing to shift your direction.
I've had a number of baby dreams over the years. In one of my baby dreams I was nine months pregnant but the baby had stopped moving. The baby wasn't kicking or rolling or showing any sign of life. I thought the baby was dead and I panicked. Then, suddenly, I had the unction to shift the baby's position with gentle pressure from my hand. (I later researched this and discovered there's a name for it: the Diaphragmatic Release.) When I did, I could feel the baby kicking again. I knew all was well.
Sometimes things look dead, but you just have to reposition yourself for life. It doesn't always take much. Just one gentle movement in the right direction can cause God to breathe on that thing again so you can birth it and begin nurturing what God has given you to steward. But you need to hear from the Lord about which way to shift. Remain close to the Holy Spirit, and "your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way, walk in it,' whenever you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left" (Is. 30:21).
If God has given you something to birth, it may be time to pull an Ezekiel and speak to those dry bones. It may be time to pull an Elijah and raise it from the dead. It may be time to walk away from the Ishmael. Refuse to abort and just reposition yourself to receive what God intended all along. You could just be in the wrong place or in the wrong time or with the wrong people. Listen to the Lord.
4. Embrace the transition.
Transitions are difficult. This is the place where people tend to grow weary and faint. The moments right before you give birth to that new thing—before you enter that new beginning—are the hardest of all.
And here's a fifth point: Don't give up. I always say that the best thing I have going for me is not my communication skills or even spiritual gifts. It's the fact that I absolutely, positively refuse to give up. I just don't have any quit in me. That doesn't mean I don't get discouraged. I do. It doesn't mean I don't feel like quitting on some days. I do. It just means that for all the thoughts and words I may speak about throwing in the towel on my toughest days, I always get back up again.
In 2016, let that be you. Sometimes victory in spiritual warfare really is just a matter of outlasting the devil. Keep pressing! Jesus is your victory banner.
